Jessica Jones - Writer Of Original Comic Praises Show, Describes It As Faithful And Lively

I know I’ve been very low-key on talking about to Jessica Jones TV show but I think I have to stop doing that because I can’t hold it any longer. I’m going to burst.

The show is so good. I have seen the first couple of episodes and because i didn’t work on it directly i can say this with full no ego fanfare: i loved it!! and believe me, i was going to be the hardest on it. harder than any of you. jessica is a part of my DNA. A bad jessica jones show would have hurt me deeply.

BUT it is faithful and lively and everything that I could personally have wanted from the show. the mean streets of marvel netflix from a different perspective than matt’s but at the same time… it all fits. just like the comics on their best day. and just like Netflix DD, the look of the show is cracklin’ noir but with its own palette.

    'Faithful'
I can't wait to see the internet shitstorm when it gets to adapting the final 6 issues of Alias.

  2. SO we'll see her be victimized? THAT event?

Since they're including Purple Man and it's been described as a faithful adaption I think it's safe to say they are including it.

  4. Oof so if they are, is it imperative to see it, or just knowing what she went through enough to see the series and understand her grief? Because i don't think i can see a woman be victimized in that way but i still want to see the show you know?

  5. This is gonna be good.

Seeing it was part of what made such an impact. Jessica couldn't control herself when the Purple Man had power over her but knew everything she was doing. So her face, her tears, it all showed just how much she had really broken down.

  7. Need a trailer for it already, please!

  8. It is always nice hearing this, when a creator praises where someone else took his character it certainly mean a lot (money in their pocket from Marvel ;-) ).

I really look forward to the show, if it's even slightly good as Daredevil it will be major.

  9. So i SHOULD fast-forward through it if they show it?

I'd say watch it. The fact that she rose up and faced her demons made such an impact. It's not your standard/traditional superhero story. It really shows just how dark these peoples lives can be and just how much they actually do risk every day.

  11. This just amplified my excitement for Jessica Jones even more than I was before, I've been rereading the Alias comics in anticipation of the show and I seriously cannot wait. Hopefully we'll get a trailer soon!!

  12. Was it graphic in the comic?

  13. I really want to see what David Tennant does to that Purple Man role.

    Semi
Stuff was shown but it was more Jessica telling Luke Cage what happened. Every so often it had a flash of the dark stuff, but I wouldn't say that anything shown was worse then say...GoT.

But the parts when it flashed back to Jessica, and she tells Luke some of the stuff she was made to do is heartbreaking to read.

It's got spoilers but here's 3 pages as an example of the kind of content (I did a paint job to cover the girls in the 3rd image since their meant to be 2 girls under Purple Man's control who he's got 'doing stuff' on the bed).

  15. He was a Doctor Who right?

  16. "I have seen the first couple of episodes" - 2015 release a lock still? Glad to hear it's true to the Comics! How far are they in filming?

  17. I just need a date!

  18. The official description was late 2015.

  19. This is horrendous and he's still alive in the comics?

  20. Good to hear! Two marvel shows on Netflix several months apart is brilliant scheduling on Netflix's part.

I only asked because there was a small bit on Wikipedia saying that they weren't sure they'd release it this year, but that was like January or something.

  21. As far as i know,Marvel was pretty clear about the release time.I wonder what's taking them so long to cast Iron Fist?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I know, right? Maybe they're just waiting until nearer the time. Only reason that Luke Cage was cast so early is because he's in Jessica Jones.

    ReplyDelete
  23. He is Jessica's BF right?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Not sure. Not much of a Comic Book reader, just usually research the main arcs nearer release and wait for them to pop up on screen.

  25. Same here.I don't read comics at all so i have no idea who these characters are.

It's been leaked that the delay is due to Marvel being undecided on how mystical they want to make Iron Fist. Depending on how much, it'd affect the tone and the actor they would be looking for.

  27. I need some hot man in this role i can crush for next.LOL!

I wouldn't say he's her BF at this point (since they're adapting Alias) but more an emotional confidant and occasional F-buddy. They only got together right at the end of Alias when Jessica found out she was pregnant and they both wanted to keep it.

Yeah he's still alive and being as twisted as ever. He popped up last year in the Daredevil comic. During the time that he had Jessica under his control he got many women pregnant, made them want to keep the child but made them forget who he was.

The children were all born and had his powers. He planned to use them to help him control the world, starting with having them take down Daredevil.

I read this as the other kind of 'date' and was so confused.

I highly recommend getting Marvel Unlimited. It's not too expensive and as long as you have a compatible device you can read comics anywhere. They don't have Alias though because it was part of the MAX Line (Marvels Adult comics). They keep it 6 months behind the current released stuff so it's fairly easy to catch up and read stuff both past and present.

    ...
Also they have everything to do with the Young Avengers, no one on the team is straight and everyone is eyecandy.

  32. Same here! I think its because I read Joy's previous comment about needing a hot man in the role.

  33. How was he stopped THEN?

  34. Christopher DeBonoJuly 22, 2015 at 9:50 AM

His kids rebelled and told him to walk in front of a train. He survived however (because he has a healing factor like Wolverine does but he's kept it hidden) and went after his kids.

Through their actions the kids drew Daredevils attention and they fought. They kids defeated Daredevil but didn't kill him. Later on, Purple Man tracked them down and began to take them down one by one.

Daredevil managed to save some of them however, and had Purple Man locked away. Due to the kids being young they managed to depower them, they were then separated and adopted away.

  35. Great, so not only is he a a mind-controlling psychopath, he's also immortal? Why would the kids fight Daredevil?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Christopher DeBonoJuly 22, 2015 at 10:37 AM

They weren't intending to get his attention, but he was nearby.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I get that, are they heroes now in their own right now?

    ReplyDelete
  38. LOL! I didn't mean that at all!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Christopher DeBonoJuly 22, 2015 at 11:33 AM

Nope. They've just been forgotten since they're depowered. They're just regular people now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Wow, Purple Man can shake hands in hell with Black Jack Randall ah ah!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Huh, okay, who de-powered them?

    ReplyDelete
  42. Christopher DeBonoJuly 22, 2015 at 12:13 PM

It's been a little while since I read it but I believe they depowered themselves since they weren't near Purple Man anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cool, so he's a immortal psychopath too?

    ReplyDelete
  44. This has only fueled my excitement to a much higher degree.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Christopher DeBonoJuly 22, 2015 at 12:59 PM

He can heal but I don't know if his immortality protects him from aging and all that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Holy Hell, I knew next to nothing about Jessica Jones! I do know she has a child. Is it Purple Man's??

    ReplyDelete
  47. Give us a day already Netflix!

    ReplyDelete
  48. If they more or less stick to the source material, this is going to be even darker than Daredevil and take Marvel into a whole new territory. Damn.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I wonder if Netflix deciding on a second season of Daredevil has allowed them a little more room to delay Iron Fist and Luke Cage?

I would think Season 2 might air before one or both of those series even premieres at this point...

    ReplyDelete
  50. That's good news. Thanks for getting me even more excited for this series!
