“Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters” Digital Prequel Series:
The digital prequel “Heroes Reborn: Dark Matters” bridges the gap between the original series and “Heroes Reborn,” reintroducing viewers to the “Heroes” universe and unveiling a whole new generation of “Heroes.”
It's been five years since the public became aware of the existence of evolved humans or "EVOs" who possess incredible, supernatural abilities. In that time, the public has grown to either fear or revere EVOs. An online community forms around the rallying cry of the anonymous Hero_Truther, who seeks to humanize EVOs in the wake of lies, slander and fear mongering. Among those posting their personal stories is Phoebe Frady (Aislinn Paul “Degrassi: The Next Generation”), who is encouraged to document her origin story by her brother, Quentin (Henry Zebrowski “A to Z”). But as Phoebe struggles to control her power, she attracts unwanted attention from a mysterious new company.

Multiple times was called reboot, and that just a sample of the news that i have read that all of them said reboot.
I LOVE digital spin-offs, not only do they give the writers a chance to tell more storylines but also in a different format, like here with the use of found footage.

They totally should have done a digital spin-off for Birds of Prey by taking Katrina Law, Caity Lotz and Jessica DeGouw to film a 60 minute long additional episode, split it up into 7, 10 minute long episodes and release it on theCWSeed

ReplyDeleteWell look at the articles. Everything that i have read every news article or mention of this new series was called always reboot, not continuation. That is what is up with my info. When they reported on returning characters they again said reboot, so my info for all intents and purposes my info came from official articles about this series, where every time i read was called reboot.

I don't have time to look at the articles right now. otherwise i would. But believe what you want. The majority of fans know it's a continuation. So i guess in your mind it's both. But who knows maybe they'll clear it up in the panel.
ReplyDeleteYou always have to be weary of the word reboot, because the industry uses it so vaguely. I agree with you that a reboot should indicate a re-imaging of previous material of a franchise, but they tend to use it as "anything pertaining to" or "a way to start again" [with the] the previous subject in mention such as a spin off, sequel, prequel, re-imaging.

ReplyDeleteIn this case they mean a fresh start with new storylines in the same world sort of reboot, not a 'none of the previous stuff happened' sort of reboot. It's a reboot in the sense that they're telling all new stories, skipping ahead and whatnot. Basically they're starting over by jumping to a fresh time period and leaving all the previously shown stuff as canon, but not necessarily relevant to what's going on right now.
ReplyDeleteIt's like when a super hero team in a comic book 'reboots' in order to attract more readers.. They have new stories, often a new line-up, and most likely some new kind of living situation or 'hook.' It doesn't mean all the previous stories about that team never happened, just that the current situation they're writing about is different from previous stories and a good place for new readers (or in this case, viewers) to jump in without feeling like they have to catch up on tons of backstory.

ReplyDeleteDownload Heroes Reborn on NBC Digital Prequel now! Yeah right, of course it's only for US. Can't find a thing in the Dutch AppStore, then switch to US AppStore and find it, but I cannot get it.
ReplyDeleteWell than this is kind of strange, thank you all, but look, when i hear reboot i see reboot. Like the Spider Man franchise, but this kind of reboot is extremely different.
ReplyDeletecool promo, I'm cautiously optimistic about this show, but will give it a chance based off of S1 of the original. In a way, it reminds me of the upcoming Marvel Civil War movie where the super/meta humans are required to register with the government, but I'm sure that this will have their own spin on things

ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not ... not everything you read on the internet is true ( you can find articles that will tell you anything from gays are second class citizens and shouldn't' marry to the Holocaust never happened to cults are good but it doesn't make them true ) and sadly some interviewers/sites are not creditable so technically anything you read there is 'crap' and just their personal opinion/take on things NOT fact.
ReplyDeleteThe 'truth' for the most part comes from reputable sites like SpoilerTV from reporters with the brains enough to understand the difference between the words Reboot and Continuation NOT some Joe Blow sitting in his/her basement reposting the 'story' onto their own 'entrainment' site.
It doesn't spoil anything. You should check it out.
