Michael Lombardo, President of HBO Programming told reporters Thursday at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.
“[The producers are] feeling like there’s probably two more years after six,” Lombardo added. “I would love for them to change their minds, but that’s what we’re looking at right now.”
As for whether or not HBO might follow up Thrones‘ run with a prequel series, Lombardo said, “I would be open to anything [the producers] want to do. There’s enormous storytelling to be mined in a prequel. … At this point, all the focus is on figuring out the next few years with this show.”
