  1. Seeing those numbers for Masters of Sex physically hurts; the show is too good to be this much under appreciated. Also wish The Last Ship would go up, I have fallen in love with the show. Falling Skies is doing terrible but it is the last season so it doesn't really matter anyway.

HBO continues to be on a roll; even if true detective is down, those numbers are still awesome for Ballers.

  2. Humans got 0.44 according to Showbuzz

    ReplyDelete
  3. Masters of Sex is done, this is horrible

    ReplyDelete
  4. Nice start for The Strain and nice that The Last Ship is holding although I'd like to see it getting at least 0.8.. I wonder how low Falling Skies will go this season.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Very good show, I feel like all criticaly acclaimed series get horrible ratings

    ReplyDelete
  6. That was for a different episode. We go on first run dates/ratings for shows. The USA/AMC is 2 episodes behind the UK airings.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Great for The Strain, The Last Ship, Ballers and True Detective, bad for Ray D. and Halt

    ReplyDelete
  8. Thanks, still pretty good for the late airing.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Yep, I think they will be quite happy with a .44

    ReplyDelete
  10. The problem is that I think Masters of Sex is not even that much critically acclaimed. Sure, critics like it and all that but it goes pretty much under the radar at award shows and such, which sucks. If it were to get awards love I feel like Showtime could keep it for that in the hopes of it eventually gathering more of a cult audience, but nope. This is the rare show that goes underrated both with critics and viewers, imo. It sucks.

  11. Is Humans a good show?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Well, I am going to watch it soon, but a 0.44 for AMC for an episode that is 2 episodes behind the UK airing is good.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've only caught the 1st episode which I enjoyed. I plan to catch up later and binge.

Recommend you watch the 1st episode and you should know if it's for you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Ray Donovan opened last season with a 0.37. A 0.32 is hardly a decline when most cable shows are dropping more than 25% year to year. I think it did well.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Why did I think it was getting 0.6 ratings then lol, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I was asking in terms of content actually. Ratings wise I think the show is doing fine especially since it is certainly cheaper than usual for AMC.

There are so many good shows around this summer, I don't usually feel like this is the case.

    ReplyDelete
  17. That's because it ended the season that way lol. It grew relatively constantly and ended with a 0.74 season high.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thought I would let you know how much I love The Last Ship now. I am so glad you got me into it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, those are the big jumps, does this happen to MoS too?

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wanted to watch TLS but I saw on my countrys TV shows forum that its bad and forgets its apocaliptic.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sadly it didn't last year. It started with a 0.32 and ended with a 0.28. It really didn't fluctuate much. Except for one 0.17 for episode 8, it was always between 0.22 and 0.28 for the other episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Wow, you know a lot of the cable ratings, I used to follow broadcast only until now. Hope it rises through the season.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Also who is interested in Power ratings it got 0.6.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I know very little about cable ratings ahah, I usually fall broadcasters only. I am using Spotted archives to answer you and to figure it out for myself at the same time ahah. Here: http://www.spottedratings.com/2014/07/spotvault-masters-of-sex-showtime.html

  25. Yeah thanks I will probably do it. Some unassuming shows from this summer are really turning out to be great, so I want to give it a shot. I am still amazed at how good Mr. Robot is.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I highly recommend it. I've binge watched the first season last month after the Pitch Your Show thing when I was convinced to try it again and I really loved it. The characters are incredibly easy to root for, the action and intensity is some of the best out there, and the emotion and twists of the series are really well pulled. Really a complete package for me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. LOL you reminded me on Pitch Your Show BTW, thanks! I liked Eric from Greys, so Im giving it a try at least for the pilot, I read on that forum that its to cliche and that its too overdramatic.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So glad you're enjoying it :) I've been enjoying this season a lot except the bad guys can't seem to pick an accent lol, the Irish one is especially terrible if that's what it's supposed to be.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it starts out more cliche than it becomes during its run. But yes, the overall set up is somehow cliche I would say, although I really don't think that detracts from well done it is.

    ReplyDelete
  30. 30 comments, WTF!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Personally I didn't like it at all, to me it felt like a cheap rehash of several AI storylines that have been done many times..

    ReplyDelete
  32. I got that feeling from the trailer as well. But I thought Mr. Robot was going to be a rehash of several hacker storylines out there and I am blown away with the show. That has put me in a more "willing to try it out" mode lately.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I think masters of sex is too weird for some people. Therfore the low ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Big drop for Ray Donovan and relatively small, albeit significant drop for MoS.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The Brink: Stop falling!

    ReplyDelete
  36. As someone else pointed out, it stated last season with a 0.3 but it grows as the season builds. Showtime will be pleased with Ray Donovan. Masters Of Sex never had an audience. It should end, but it's on a network that just renewed little watched Penny Dreadful.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Showtime struggles a lot, Penny, MOS and The Affair have all bad ratings, Ray is renewed 100 percent. Is Web Therapy cancelled, which is also low as Episodes and Happyish are too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I agree that Ray Donovan is 100% renewed. It's one of the only shows pulling in respectable ratings for Showtime and honestly, I really wonder if some of the negative spinning on Ray Donovan is from fans of certain Showtime shows that aren't pulling in 0.3. As for the rest, I've argued for a while that Showtime should get rid of Penny Dreadful, Masters Of Sex, and The Affair. Yes, they have their critical support and fanbases, but the ratings are low and it will only get worse next year. While Ray Donovan can still pull in an audience, it should lead into something else. Showtime can rebuild with Shameless, Ray Donovan, Homeland, and hopefully Billions.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Crossing my fingers Halt and Catch Fire can survive for another season.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think its cancelled, because Humans does 0.4-0.5 for AMC and they have upcoming fear The Waling Dead and Into The Badlands with both having the potential. Even TURN beats it.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Just like with broadcast programming, too much cable programming is encouraging live+7 viewership over live. Viewers can't watch it all.

    ReplyDelete
  42. XYZ, you bring up these same points, numerous, times on shows you watch and are a fan of. And you get the same answer again and again by others. This is not meant to be a fan board but a discussion on ratings. Rather than regurgitate what others have written, I'll just say I agree with them as your information is incorrect.

    ReplyDelete
  43. " This is not meant to be a fan board but a discussion on ratings"

Which we are discussing, ratings and what Showtime renews since you wrote the comment that Ray Donovan is "toast". Instead of discounting it as trolling, I explained why that statement doesn't make a lot of sense based on how premium cable renews stuff and pointed out an article for reference for further information. But apparently, that wasn't registered at all. Shame.

    ReplyDelete
  44. That is part of the problem though, some viewers are only going to watch 2-3 episodes of a show and than move on if they dont like it. They are not going to give a show a second chance even if a show improves in season 2. I really liked the pilot episode and episode 4 of season 1 but stopped watching after episode 5, but when I heard good things about season 2, I went back and caught up on HACF, but not everyone does that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'd say the same about TURN, since i watched 20 episodes and 2 episodes of Halt, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Same, I didn't watch it last season but have recently caught up and its really found itself.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I've really been enjoying it, perhaps its not wholly original but it has a very British feel to it which makes it seem different. I've been impressed by certain actors as well and I think its building the world up nicely and is planting the seeds for future storylines. Hopefully its success in the UK will mean it gets another season.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think that some fans might have dropped it during second (much worse than first) season, but last episode was quite nice. Hopefully it will only get better.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Thanks for the input

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yeah, it is the sad true. Shows manage to make amazing comeback but people already left and are not willing to comeback, not many people at least. I can think about lots of shows that managed to turn the table and become pretty great, but by then the audience already left.

In the case of HaCF, it never had a lot of audience, so one can tell people who never heard of the show that it gets really good, but the waiting to the good part is always a hard sell

    ReplyDelete
  51. But it's last episode before this got a 0.7 and that's a 58% decline episode-to-episode.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think it is amazing. Very creepy with amazing actors. I look forward to new episode every week. You should definitely try it

    ReplyDelete
  53. It would be nice if we were able to see Humans's ratings, at least on stvplus.com

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've enjoyed it, it's not particularly stand out brilliant, but runs at a steady pace and is interesting enough. I would like to see a bit more intrigue to it, it's a bit predictable, but the acting is very good.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I've just added them up to episode 4, that's all that's been released so far :)
