ReplyDeleteNice Devious Maids held up with last weeks ratings. With Unreal renewed with much worse ratings, DM is sure to be renewed. At least for 10 episodes. With a large cast and lower ratings verses season 2 it will get a shorter episode order to keep all of the cast that is there now for next year.

ReplyDeleteABC Family should have kept Chasing Life on after PLL last winter, but Stitchers always seemed destined to air after PLL this summer. I am just grateful that at least CL is not on at 10pm after Becoming Us.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I'm glad they moved it back to 9.. I wish Stitchers didn't air at all it sucks. We all know they will cancel it. And CL could of had the post PLL spot. This is going to be the reason we don't get more episodes or a season 3.

ReplyDeleteUnreal debunks the myth that one week of uptick is going to be a trend. Sure enough, it wasn't and the next week it's back to its very low ratings. It's still a very puzzling renewal.
ReplyDeleteChasing Life was renewed due to network support,possible critical acclaim & I believe when it was renewed for s2 it was doing 0.5s not it's now usual 0.2-0.3& the network ,just like Czw,wants more year round original programming.
ReplyDeleteUnreal has terrible ratings but was renewed due to being an in house production,young skew,critical acclaim & possible doing well on social media .I agree I'm going be upset if Maids gets cancelled while UnEreal gets renewed but I do understand there are different factors than ratings at play ( ownership,cost ,critical acclaim ect)
Good to see Teen Wolf at the top, although I'd love to see that demo up 2 tenths.
ReplyDeleteAll of that could be contributing factors, but the overwhelming one that I see in both cases is that benefits of renewing both does not outweigh the benefits of moving on and trying something else.
ReplyDeleteCable is in a place where they renew anything because they can as you mentioned under the label of year round programming. However, just because they can doesn't mean that they should and networks like TNT are realizing the horrible effects of renewing shows because you can instead of finding new hits. It's just a shame that cable networks are making basic programming mistakes that are causing their own downfall.
Besides the ratings which I know matter Chasing Life has good reception. And there's nothing like ot on tv right now. I really hope ABCFamily sees its a good show, and is worth keeping around.

ReplyDeleteWhy do you have such hatred for Chasing Life. The ratinga were steady its whole first run untill they moved it after The Fosters. It would probably do better airing by itself without a lead in front of it then aorong after The Fosters or Switched at Birth. Neither show is strong enough to be a lead for another show. Switched was strong enough back wheb The Fosters premiered, but hasn't been in a long time. And The Fosters was never strong enough and will never be.

ReplyDeleteFirst I don't " have a hatred " for it.I watch it & like ,but I'm not deluded that it's ratings Evfn before the move were good cause they weren't though they were steady.Ive been wondering why bash evey other ABCFamily show yet praise Chasing Life when it's the lowest rated scripted on there?You like it fine.You don't like the other shows fine,but thers no need to constantly put dip own the other shows quality while only giving praise to Chasing Life.Its ratings now are awful and thers no denying it or getting around it,
ReplyDeleteI don't bash every other show, I don't like Stotchers it sucks and I'm not the only one who feels that way. I like PLL and I watched Switched till the 3rd season and they lost me, and I still watch The Fosters from time to time but the quality isn't there anymore.
