Thanks to johnhelvete for the heads up.
Tarsem has been tapped to direct all 10 episodes of Emerald City, the recently resurrected NBC series that underwent a redevelopment via writer/executive producer David Schulner. Oliver Jackson Cohen, Ana Ularu and Gerran Howell have also joined the cast of the series, described as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones.
Jackson Cohen (Dracula, The Raven) will play Lucas, described as handsome, mysterious and quick-witted. He is discovered by Dorothy, beaten, bloodied, and moaning on a post outside the ruins of his village. The sole survivor of the what can only be described as a mass crucifixion — he remembers nothing of his past, not even his name. He joins Dorothy on her journey to the Emerald City, and as they survive challenge after challenge, he proves a real friend in need to this brave but bewildered newcomer.
Gerran Howell 2Ularu (Inferno) will play West, a beautiful, sultry force of nature who has entered an unholy alliance with the Wizard. Corrupt and languorously seductive, she is a creature of perverse humor and many unsavory appetites. She lives in a lavishly appointed brothel where she is the madam of sorts. When confronted with the news of the First Sign that foretells the coming of the Beast, she’s clearly deeply affected by the portent’s significance…and what it means for her.

It's crazy how this just totally sky-rocketed from me barely caring to wanting to see it RIGHT NOW. Tarsem is one of my fave directors of all time. "The Fall" is an absolutely stunning movie, it makes sweet sweet love to your eyeballs. (lol) If this can even come close it will be a huge treat.
ReplyDeleteNow eagerly awaiting more news.
When you say concerned do you mean potential cancellation? I'm just hoping it's a close-ended story like Wayward Pines. That way even if they pull it it will eventually all be released, beyond that, I don't really care.
ReplyDeleteLess cancellation and more a quality issue, for me NBC has turned into a channel of mediocrity in recent years. Now Parks and Rec has ended and Hannibal cancelled I have zero shows on the channel.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this !!!
ReplyDeleteThere is a typo in the above article ( Gerran Howell 2Ularu ) and after Ularu's description it should read Howell is set as brave, adventurous and perpetually positive Jack. Tarsem.
"described as a modern and dark reimagining of the classic tale of Oz in the vein of Game Of Thrones."
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, I don't know if I quite buy that comparison, but I do like the sound of this revampedment, much better than the previous one. Not really sold on this yet, but promos could sway me.
Nope,i don't buy that either!
ReplyDeleteThe visuals on Mirror Mirror make me think this could be something very special, he has a real eye for detail.
ReplyDeleteIF it is half as good as GoT then it will be a fantastic show with Top 10 ratings which will be syndicated around the globe.
ReplyDeleteThis show sounds so awesome!!! These characters sound really cool, especially the amnesiac, a "mass crucifixion"? That's insane!
ReplyDeleteIsn't after Ularu's description just a description of the show?
