  1. So Michael stabs himself during the confession ritual to protect his identity and the town, gets buried, of course lives, digs out of the grave and then has to leave Mallory because they think he's dead. That's the sacrifice he must make.

Episode 2.03 - The Narrow Gate

Alex embarks on a dangerous quest to prove himself to their newest ally, subsequently reuniting him with a startling face from the past. Meanwhile, Claire enlists the help of an old friend to halt what she believes is a brewing revolt from the V1’s.

Finally, Michael makes a sacrifice that will spare the town from destruction as well as preserve his identity but will prevent him from ever being with his new love.

I would have liked for the question of his faith to have been resolved before he left but I guess as the season progresses we will come back to Mallory.

The last paragraph above us what we suspected last week - his new love!!!

  3. I'm convinced the story of the town is Raphael playing games with the humans/building her own religion like an experiment, but it's probably best to leave the town for a bit and then go back to it, rather than resolve the whole thing in 3 episodes.

  4. Yes to both. I think it has to do with Raphael and it does make sense to leave it for now.

  5. I had a feeling Laurel would be a love interest since I read about her character before season 2 even started.

  6. From the little we know of Raphael from the Syfy website, it definitely seems to fit her MO. If it's a season long thing, then a break for now, as Michael gets involved in New Delphi is the best move.

  7. yes me too! i knew that Laurel would be Michael´s possible new girl since i read that one character called "Laurel" would be the leader of a town called Mallory and would have a lot of faith endless in God.
Her profile sounded perfect for Michael´s character, she looks like his female version. And now the woman that is her only friend says to Michael that she must kill herself....this does not seems llike to him...he´s hallucinating.

  8. yes, sadly his possible love story with Laurel will be cut and forgotten, when he leaves Mallory. that´s a pitty, they had a lot of potential.

  9. Laurel is being the best person is this series in my opinion. I´m in love with her character: she try to help to everyone, following the Mallory´s prophet laws to the letter without fail, she even knowing that she will have to die, offered since 5 years ago as volunteer for to be the leader and die someday by the common Right.
And she has been the only one in defend Michael when Wes wanted he´d leave Mallory and a kind of spiritual guide for Michael, giving to him a new hope, saying that his redemption is not impossible, that he will recover his faith. She´s a good friend for Michael, and possible "his new love"...and now she suddenly says to him that she must die by the City´s salvation.
I am not very sure, but Michael looks a little in shock and even sad i would say. Is the archangel in love with Laurel?
Because if is so...she is a little cruel. Say to someone whom you love that you are digging your own grave is horrible. now i understand the Michael´s horror face.....
oh i am falling down by this ship as a stupid. that doomed love...that he take her place he won´t back to see her again so...that´s sad...pfff even worst than with Becca´s pathetic end being so bad.

  10. So Michael sacrifeces himself instead of the girl so that she can live, but it is also all a lie since we know he won't die.

  11. I don't think the writers will leave Mallory forever alone after only 3 episodes. Likely they'll get back to it later. I don't think God is behind what's going on, but someone/something is and I'm sure we'll find out eventually.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Not sure what you're trying to say in the last couple sentences but from the promos and the fact that 4 leaders have died in 25 years (every 5 years, with one due soon) fans think Laurel is supposed to sacrifice herself in the town's 5 year ritual to keep the bonfire going, but Michael takes her place instead.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Oh i mean that Laurel is gonna to sacrifice herself by his people and Michael in the scene where she is saying that the grave is by herself he does not seem very happy with that idea.
Michael will take her place....what do you think that will happen?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah....well we´ll know that very soon. But Michael does not want that Laurel die..

    ReplyDelete
  15. Oh do you think so? Ah i´m agree with the idea of to be strange leave Mallofry forever because the Arc Redemption of Michael is not ended and Mallory was very important for him. In fact i think that Michael´s Redemption Arc will last all the season 2. He´s recovering his faith now, but this third episode will be the most important for it. But God must be behind of this. If not Michael never would recover his faith in a place cursed or that´s a lie.

  16. There is a theory that the bonfire is right up Archangel Raphael's alley, based on her description on the Syfy website. Since the creator of the show says he has no plans to ever really do anything with God it seems more likely than it being God behind Mallory, because I believe the bonfire is a mystery they will eventually answer.

It could be wrong though; I could be wrong. I guess we'll see.

    ReplyDelete
  17. "what do you think that will happen?" I'm a little confused over what you're trying to say with how it's written here. I'm assuming you're asking what will happen after?

    I'm not sure.

We know Michael will survive as it's just a normal knife (no emperian steel). Question is, if he doesn't actually die does his sacrifice still count for the bonfire to keep going?

And it only gives Laurel another 5 years if she stays leader after this ritual.

  18. Tom Wisdom (Michael) confirmed in a video that Michael and Laurel are falling for each other.

I like Laurel too. Her religion is her one fault known so far. But in the world they're living in, and the proof she's seen for Mallory's religion working, I can't say she's stupid. Misguided yes. But the whole town is. They've taken on a religion that involves human sacrifice because the bonfire has protected them, but they have refused to question whether the "God" working for them is actually God, or something pretending to be him.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ah yeah, this could to be, so as this theory the Archangel Raphael would be the Mallory´s prophet, who established the rules? But well Raphael is a male archangel or a female´s one? Because he was the Uriel´s twin? Yes if God won´t appear by the moment you are right. Maybe is Raphael.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Raphael is female on this show. That's also on the Syfy website. As the Prophet is male, with this theory, she would have had to either make herself look male or more likely imo, had someone act as the prophet for the town.

  21. So by Laurel sacrificing herself with the knowledge of everyone's secrets and sins, she's basically, literally "burying" them.

I love seeing Michael put the pieces together. I'm sure he's seen plenty of religious rituals in his lifetime.

  22. Oh of course Blue. haha well i just used the wrong word i wanted say with "stupid" that maybe Laurel is a little clumsy does not watching the true feelings that Michael is keeping by her....i know that he´s an archangel and he feels in a different way of a human being: maybe he loves and suffer with more intensity could to be? and maybe he just show his feelings in a different way? well when she is saying to him all the things about Harper´s death and the laws of Mallory by their prophet about sacrifice herself Michael looks like a little sad and worried, he is scary of lose Laurel..she was so good for him, and for the people in general. I think that his words to her in 2X20 was the proof of how deep Michael must love her....for that he will take her place in this sacrifice. Oh yes i know about some religions and their humans sacrifices for the Common Right.

In Mallory every Leader take the secrets & sins of every citizen and he/she dies by their salvation in God´s name. I can not imagine a most highest level of faith and generosity and dedication to God and others who die for their salvation just like Jesus said. i just love Laurel so deeply...i have a lot of respect for her. And Michael can see that with his own eyes. but i want know what there is behind of Mallory as you said. But i think is a good place, where everyone lives with their open heart as Laurel said. Oh I want see that interview of Tom...is in youtube? have you got a link, Blue? Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Ah I see. Yeah I don't know how much angels feel but I think it's as much as any human. Michael just tends to hide his emotions. Most of the time, it's all in his eyes, their expression. Wes is wrong when he says they're cold. They're only cold to him cause he's a jerk.

Yeah I think Mallory is a good place, just their religion is a bit extreme for my taste, and Wes is one of their bad apples.

  24. Hey thank you by the link, Blue! Yes i know about Wes...i just hated his two scenes with Michael were unfortunates, because Wes did not even try to meet Michael really. He just judged him by his outward appearance. And i´m agree, Michael does not have cold eyes, he just looks a serious expression, but always is polite and try undertand the news things and adapt himself to the news places where he is. One thing that i love about the Michael´s character and the work of Tom Wisdom is that Michael always uses to make a lot of questions about the news things, people, customes...and that always search support in the Human Beings. His relationship with Laurel is so magic as was in the movie "Legion" his relationship with Jeep. Have you seen the movie? He said to Jeep in the original movie " You, Jeep... you are the reason I still have faith" something similar what he has said to Laurel in 2X02 about his admiration by her faith. Michael always ask the support of humans beings for recover his own faith, being an heigh archangel, this is a test about his trusting and love in the human being. For example Gabriel never would do it...he´s more arrogant and different. Michael in the angelic story is the most perfect angel ever and i like how this show has played with his character, making him more human and full of emotions.
And well his experience in Mallory surely will make him much more stronger, but i´m glad of hear that he has true feelings by Laurel.
Thanks, folk! Ah well in Mallory they are extremes, like in the Old testament, where God demanded great sacrifices, maybe the writers of Dominion based this place of Mallory in these first texts.

    ReplyDelete
  25. True about the first texts.

Yes I have seen Legion. I own it! I was so happy when they made a show from that movie because I loved Michael on it. And I love Michael even more on this show now...despite the flood tendencies.

    ReplyDelete
  26. yes here the same! In Legion he was amazing, but we can see more sides of him here. Oh i´ve seen 2X03- awesome episode. how i will forget it? ♥ was almost dramatically speaking a little epic.

  27. I felt some epic too. It was an amazing episode.
