CBS confirmed Friday that William Petersen (Gil Grissom) and Marg Helgenberger (Catherine Willows) will go behind the yellow tape, as will Ted Danson (D.B. Russell), Jorja Fox (Sara Sidle), Jon Wellner (Henry Andrews), David Berman (David Phillips), Paul Guilfoyle (Jim Brass), Wallace Langham (David Hodges), Elisabeth Harnois (Morgan Brody), Robert David Hall (Dr. Al Robbins), Eric Szmanda (Greg Sanders), and Melinda Clarke as Lady Heather.
There will be two notable absences: Elisabeth Shue, who played Julie Finlay, and George Eads, aka Nick Stokes. As EW reported exclusively, it’s unclear how the producers will deal with Shue’s absence. Eads, in the meantime, opted not to participate, according to TVLine.
Production on the special will begin July 29 in Los Angeles. The show’s creator, Anthony Zuiker, is penning the script. Executive producers on the special include Jerry Bruckheimer, Carol Mendelsohn, Ann Donahue, Jonathan Littman, and Petersen.

Julie Finlay won’t be around when the CSI gang reunites this fall.
EW has learned exclusively that Elisabeth Shue, who has played Finlay on the CBS drama since 2012, will not participate in the show-wrapping movie planned for Sept. 27. It’s unclear how the producers will handle Finlay’s absence in the flick that will serve as the show’s swan song.

Turns out not everyone will be returning for this fall’s big CSI farewell, as star Marg Helgenberger declared at Comic-Con last weekend.
TVLine has learned exclusively that George Eads has decided not to participate in the two-hour swan song, forcing series creator Anthony E. Zuiker to excise Nick Stokes from the already-completed script.
While Eads never officially signed on to the project, I’m told Zuiker and his fellow producers were hopeful that the actor would reprise his role alongside fellow CSI vets Helgenberger and William Peterson (with more names expected to be announced soon).

This sucks !!!
ReplyDeleteNick is the head of San Diego crime lab though so I think his closure/wrap for CSI sent off is done. I don't think he will be killed when he has a new job
ReplyDeleteWell with the way things were left with Finn in the last finale, I'm not surprised about that. Nick on the other hand is a bit of a downer. I really did wish he came back to work with Grissom and Cath again since they were really IMO, the main three of the show. Any word on Brass?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not happy about Shue not coming back. Shue's character is the one thing that kept me coming back week after week for the past two years. I really fell in love with Finn haha
ReplyDeleteDon't think I'll be tuning in to the finale now that Jules is gone...
With Nick leaving to go work at the San Diego office, I don't think it's a big loss for him not returning. I'm guessing that George felt Nick's role wasn't significant enough for him to return. As for Shue not coming back, I know her fate was sort of in question, but I think they could easily write off Fin off screen and say she recovered and left CSI to move back to Seattle. I don't think they need to write ff her character as dead. I'm just glad that Petersen and most of the cast is returning. Should be interesting to see Grissom and DB interact.
ReplyDeleteBrass is returning according to EW, I just updated the post :)
ReplyDeleteI don't care about Elisabeth Shue tbh but about George Eads I'm really sad. Is it very difficult to him shoot it for a few days? This is a farewell to the fans, to thank the fans for all the years of support.
ReplyDeleteGuess George doesnt care about the fans which is a shame. This is a send off for the fans is it too hard for him to spend what a few days too shoot his scenes
ReplyDeleteMelinda Clarke yes!
ReplyDeleteHopefully Elisabeth Harnois finds something better once this is all said and done, became a fan when she was in Point Pleasant and I tried to enjoy her in this but by that point CSI had become way too terrible. Eh.
ReplyDeleteThat's a big disappointment.... Even though I finally gave the show up (to make some room in my watching docket) after many years, I'm definitely coming back for the finale to see how they tie things up and especially with Grissom and Catherine coming back... but I'm sure that the writers will give us a hopefully good closure for all as the curtain falls
ReplyDeleteGeorge Eads is a big loss and I think he behaved shamefully because you've been with the show for 15 seasons and there is just one episode to finish it. Why are you doing that? He fell out of favour with this behaviour...
ReplyDeleteThe final episode was the big send off for his character. It would be nice for a return, but it would seem a bit redundant as he had just left.
ReplyDeleteseries finale?? Shit! I thought that day would never come.
ReplyDeleteYes but at least he didn't retire :) He could be in the play anyway ;)
ReplyDeleteNo he just had a proper send-off in the season 15 final... Even if I would have liked him to be part of the final reunion, I guess his character had a satisfying exit last season.
ReplyDeleteNo Finlay doesn't bother me, but the series finale without Nick? That sucks.
ReplyDeleteI find it kinda 'disrespectful' toward the fans... I mean they gave him the chance to say goodbye and being back with everyone one last time, he refused... Even William Petersen accepted to return for this event...
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the show for a couple of seasons but I figure that he thinks his season 15 finale send off was good enough for the character?
