Yay OUAT :) Dylan Sprayberry? That's an odd one.
ReplyDeleteThis Hunger Games/Lawrence hype just is beyond me....as is the Teen Wolf hype
ReplyDeleteI have to say, OUAT excited me the most this year!
ReplyDeleteGREAT SUPERNATURAL!!!! JENSEN ACKLES. JARED PADALECKI and MISHA COLLINS are always the BEST !!!
ReplyDeleteGlad for Arrow and TVD.
ReplyDeletePoor Mark
ReplyDeleteThe hype behind every movie up there is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteSPN-That panel is freakin' Hilarious. These guys are the best hands down.Happy for OUAT & TVD too :)
ReplyDeleteNew blood in an old fav show. But ya,it's a little surprising.
ReplyDeleteI get why people are excited for BvS given the cultural significance both brands hold. The Hunger Games franchise just is a phenomenon I for one don't get. The story has been there thousands of times and feels like a contrieved way to wrap the love story into a pretense of a plot.
ReplyDeleteI put that franchise on par with Twilight, Divergent and most other Young Adult films.
Meanwhile I get the Star Wars and Batman/Superman hype. All three franchises are things people grew up with while the other is not just new but also (most likely) a testiment of its fanbase (young adult) being incredibly loud
Wasn't he there for the show last year as well though? Cody is the newbie this year. Maybe he did something?
ReplyDeleteI think no one actually cares for Cody TBH,at least not me.
ReplyDeleteIs he not good on the show?
ReplyDeleteI know they are popular for the huge following they have, I guess what's beyond me is why they have a huge following in the first place lol. Just different tastes I'll never understand I guess.
ReplyDeleteHe's a lame villain trying to look cool & trying to insert himself into the team. He'll get killed off pretty soon I think.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy 4 of my shows made the list. Especially happy for Arrow and Teen Wolf.
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know he was a villain, I thought he was there to stay.
ReplyDeleteI get that but while I never had a huge liking of Batman I get his cultural significance.
ReplyDeleteLike Captain America, I never got the guys appeal but he WAS a symbol of hope in the real world during WW2 (as was Superman) so I do understand the impact the character had
Of course Jensen and Jared got the most tweets. The tweeted a photo them together with Ian and Paul! Cheaters lol.
ReplyDeleteJeff loves his eyecandy so he'll stay and will most likely get redemed.
ReplyDeleteHe could save a burning orphanage and I still wouldn't like him.
ReplyDeleteLol well just saying jeff is predictable and cody will be one of the good guys next season.
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you'd think more like a teenager girl stuck in a world were rules are against her (because you might say no, but the world is still sexist), a teenager girl who grew up in a world were her 'role models' were damsels in distress or princess who only wanted a man. Because up until Hermione Granger, girls didn't really have a powerful role model - and yes, the world had Wonder Woman and Supergirl who were exquisitely forgotten by the world.
ReplyDeleteAnd then you have a teenager girl, who is just like you. A girl who defied every rule that society had and who was punished because of that, but overcame every obstacle even if it was with psychological disturbances.
She was her own savior. He fought for herself and for her family and for what she thought it was right.
No more damsels in distress. But a warrior.
Then maybe, you'd understand whats all the hype with The Hunger Games.
AWESOME SUPERNATURAL, JENSEN, JARED AND MISHA!!! :D ♥ BEST SHOW, CAST AND FANDOM EVER!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a wonderful reason to like these movies but I don't get a pro-feministic message out of these movies at all. In fact a movie that has the female lead forced into a public relationship with an "audience darling" and has her fake her own persona to reel in the masses for the revolution is kind of sending the wrong message to me. A "don't be yourself if you want to start a revolution"esque message.
ReplyDeleteBut maybe I'm just ignorant to the franchises charme, I've considered these movies to be wildly blatant in writing, acting and now hearing that reason I'm willing to believe that people see it that way. However a message for gender equality is the last thing I got out of these
I doubt he's getting killed off soon. He's the mole. The villain that will help break Scott and the pack apart.
ReplyDeleteWell that and culturally Batman and Superman are thee biggest and most iconic superheroes (and to many the best). And Star Wars is well Star Wars. It's not just some nostalgia that keeps these characters and things so wildly popular.
ReplyDeleteSooner or later,Stiles will find out about him.Let's see what happens to him then.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how Scott and Stiles are about to have a major falling out, and Scott is apparently going to go through a major mental break and Kira's Kitsune abilities might cause severe problems. I doubt Theo will be killed or screwed over, even fully soon evil soon. That and he's a beta that can shift into a full wolf. He can probably curbstomp half the pack without effort.
ReplyDeleteHe's not being redeemed. The things he will and has done pretty much make him a psychopath on Peter's level.
ReplyDeleteWell after todays episode I agree.
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to agree to disagree one this one.He needs to get killed,PERIOD.
ReplyDeleteThat's not the point. He's not being killed off anytime soon. You don't kill a dragon, a major villain/fake hero halfway through the first half of the season. Dramatically that'd be unwise to say the least.
ReplyDeleteMaybe i'll get lucky by the Mid-season finale? LOL!
ReplyDeleteSince I can see you haven't either read the books not seen the movies. I don't have time to sit and explain all the points you just mentioned because I have to study for my finals. However, I went through some articles (that I found when I typed 'Hunger Games Feminism') and I'll quote you them for you. Some of the points you mentioned are touched here.
ReplyDelete1) Gender Equality: "It’s not surprising to see the Hunger Games franchise hit this milestone [...] one inspiring feature: Women are pretty much running the show. A partial list of vital characters who happen to be women: Katniss Everdeen, the all-important Mockingjay; Alma Coin, the underground president; Commander Paylor, the leader of the guerrilla forces guarding the hospital in District 8; Cressida, the leader and director of Katniss’ film crew; Katniss’ mother, who is the head of her nuclear family; and her sister, Prim, the heroine’s emotional rock. 2) Sending the wrong message to people "Some people have been asking is Katniss then a feminist character? Because of her compassion, empathy, cunning, resourcefulness and intelligence, I think she embodies many feminist values, at least over the course of the first book."

3) Faking being herself: "she’s the anti-Bella Swan, a golden girl for all those YA readers who like their female protagonists to do something more worthwhile than choose between two men."
"Ultimately, it’s not the weapons Katniss wields but the relationships she nurtures that save her life."

4) Forced to a relationship: " The wellbeing of her loved ones is first and foremost, not romance, not even her own safety [...] Our heroine’s motives for initially stringing Peeta along were for the betterment of the both of them as it helped them gain favor with the public and ultimately aided their attempts to win the Hunger Games."
"In addition, despite her strength, she is still able to feel. So many books that write about strong women turn them into terse and cold characters"
