Update: 10:50 We've decided to add a poll to see what you think.
Thanks to Tsukikomew for the heads up.
My hotly-debated crossover blind item is a mystery no more.
I can now confirm that Fox is planning to stage a crossover event between Thursday companions Bones and Sleepy Hollow this coming season.
The idea was initially eyed for fall, but logistical issues forced The Powers That Be to postpone it until later in the season.
Specific details surrounding the crossover, including which characters would appear in each episode, are not being disclosed at this time. But I’m told the EPs at both shows have an inventive idea in place that organically merges the vastly different Bones and Sleepy universes.

Ummmm..... Okaaaaaaaaaaaaay.....
ReplyDeleteAnd EW has also confirmed.
ReplyDeleteHOW THE FUCK IS THIS GOING TO WORK? IT MAKES NO SENSE. What is happening?
OMG Its going to be a train wreck!
ReplyDeleteIt makes no sense, but I can already imagine the banter between Ichabod and Brennan and how amazing that would be :)
ReplyDeleteI think this is such a letdown. I was so excited to see some of the suggested pairings and instead we get this?!
ReplyDeleteStop, Fox.
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA whut
ReplyDeletewould work better with Bones/X-files
ReplyDeleteI have 3 words:
ReplyDeleteWhat. The. Hell.
I really don't get how this is going to work, considering that "Sleepy Hollow" is also fictional TV show in the "Bones" universe. Hodgins even mentions DVR'ing "Sleepy Hollow" in one episode.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this is some sort of meta-episode, where they visit the set of SH and meet with the actors.
or it could be a dream/allucination
ReplyDeleteYeah, but they already did that.
ReplyDeletemaybe it's going to be like the TV-land episode on Supernatural
ReplyDeleteUgh, what a letdown, 2 shows I don't watch anymore. I was rooting for an OUAT/AOS crossover.
ReplyDeleteWe're better off having the X-Files crossing over with sleepy hollow, vice versa.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch either of these shows regularly but last time I checked Sleepy Hollow was a supernatural show and Bones was a procedural....
ReplyDeleteThe only way I could see this working is this:
ReplyDeleteThere's a murder of the production set of SH while filming. The Bones crew investigate, and in the process, Booth and Brennan ending up making appearances in the current episode of SH in order to catch the killer. The resulting SH episode that is filmed in the Bones universe AND in reality, is the episode that airs (in reality) after that Bones episode - with the understanding that SH is still fictional in the Bones universe.
Anyone following this?
f@#king wut
ReplyDeletetheirs goes my hope for AoS meets OUAT
I don't get it unless they play different people on the other shows this will not work bones is not supernatural and Sleepy Hollow is supernatural. If you cant crossover Vampire diaries and Supernatural cause there lore for Vamps are different how would a supernatural and non supernatural show work?
ReplyDeleteHow is this even possible? Bones is a show grounded in reality, while Sleepy Hollow really isn't. I really don't know what to expect. But I am oddly excited for this and hopefully it brings a bit of buzz to both series. But how is it possible that they will do it in the spring? Has Sleepy Hollow's episode order been extended? I thought it would air Fall and Winter as usual.
ReplyDeleteThat was the big thing in the blind item referencing the potential crossover-that the network in question wanted and intended to put together two wildly different sorts of TV shows.
ReplyDeleteThat said, though, "Sleepy Hollow" did have some procedural elements to it, with Ichabod and Abbie investigating mysterious cases-just that their cases had supernatural connections. And Abbie had hoped to go work for the FBI at one point. So I could see where FOX would think those facts could make for good reasons for "Sleepy Hollow" to be connected to and cross over with "Bones".
I don't watch "Bones", though, so it'll be interesting to see these characters from another show wandering into one I DO watch. But I'm willing to see how this could all play out all the same.
That's pretty much what I was thinking. Only way I can see it working.
ReplyDeleteSo Ichabod and Abbie have to steal a colonial era artifact that's on display in the Jeffersonian? I dunno. That's all I got for crossover theories.
ReplyDeleteUugh I'm really pissed off at the potential sleepy hollow had but now the showrunnersw dont know what the hell they're doing. Thankfully I have shadowhunters to look forward to for my love of the supernatural.
ReplyDeleteSo they don't know what to do with Sleepy Hollow. :(
ReplyDeleteWTF
ReplyDeleteI think this is a waste of time for both shows. Bones should be mapping out a satisfying ending to the series and Sleepy Hollow should be concentrating on fixing all the mistakes of season two.
ReplyDeleteWTH IDK BUT OK I WANT TO SEE IT BADLY
ReplyDeleteno No and NO !!!
ReplyDeleteIf this was the crossover they were referring to a moth or so back I say HELL no.
Yep, this is what that blind item crossover was referring to, apparently.
ReplyDeleteSooo Special Agent Booth is going to be turned into a vampire and then change his name to Angel and move to California I guess ...
ReplyDeletehaha good one
ReplyDeleteI dont watch those shows. booooooo. Anyways It will be fun to watch that.
ReplyDeletehavent seen sleepy hollow s02 and bones is kinda in non supenatural world,i m beyond confused how they r gonna work this ou.
ReplyDeleteOooh definitely Lucifer. I'm hoping they'll have Matt Ryan on that one eventually as John Constantine.
ReplyDeleteYes, that'll be wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteWell you could view it kinda like the real world. Regardless of personal beliefs, some people believe they've had supernatural experiences while many others would live out their lives never seeing anything supernatural. So technically, supernatural forces could exist in Bones, L&O, or CSI, just no cases they ever handled involved supernatural forces.
ReplyDeleteSame concept as PLL. The Liars don't run into the supernatural in their A adventures and A is not supernatural, yet the supernatural exists in that universe. It's simply not a part of the plot. I still don't get why people could not accept that when Ravenswood was a thing.
It could be kind of cool if David crossed over from Bones and played a sinister character from Ichabod's past ( maybe along with some Buffy/Angel alum ) that is a relative of Booth, in flashbacks well Abbie crossed over to Bones to show a more real life side to the character.
ReplyDeleteI think this is the confirmation I needed to not continue with this show.
ReplyDeleteWe will see how this works. How does anybody at FOX thinks this will goose either shows ratings? It will not give a lift except for those specific episodes. At least for Bones sake I hope this works
ReplyDeleteThe main problem is that it's actually been stated in-universe that SH is a fictional TV show within the Bones universe. Hodgins mentions DVR'ing Sleepy Hollow in one episode.
ReplyDeleteWOW!! No, no, no... STOP FOX! Please!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a strange pairing to me. I watch Bones, but not Sleepy Hollow. Tried to get into it, but just couldn't. It's times like these that I don't like cross-overs, when I watch one show, but not the other. Have the same problem with CF/CPD crossing over with L&O SVU. I watch the 2 Chicago shows, but not SVU.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably not the only fan who thinks so but it's sad, the show was so great back in its first season. I'm going to wait for 2-3 first episodes of the next season just in case.
ReplyDeleteI simply don't believe this. It's a hoax. NO-WAY these shows can cross-over convincingly. I see I'm not the only one wondering about this. Bones has no supernatural elements to it at all so to just dump it on Bones viewers will be just plain weird for them.
ReplyDeleteWeird but intriguing. Lame how so many are so adamantly against it without even hearing the details. I think there's potential here, but most importantly, people have to stop and consider the fact that internal show logic aside this has the potential to be a tremendous amount of fun. Bones and Sleepy Hollow both excel at being fun even when they have issues. This has far more potential than say, NCIS with Extant or Under the Dome, or SVU with Grimm, or Castle with OUAT.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird but interested for me. I look forward to Ichabod meet Bones. Because they are similar in a personality and knowledge. Both of Ichabod and Bones are Library of Ancient and Modern respectively.
ReplyDeleteThat was one of the crossovers I guessed and everyone said it would be too weird!
ReplyDeleteIMO..... Bad Idea, VERY BAD IDEA. Just bad. I don't see how that could work.
ReplyDeleteVery odd choice if you ask me.Let's hope they don't screw it up.
ReplyDeleteUh, this makes no sense whatsoever. I already have zero faith in the writers, This isn't helping. Does Ichabod fall asleep watching Bones and dream he's in it?
ReplyDeleteExcept it means that Bones is now still set in a universe where the supernatural is real, which doesn't work with Bones. I'm going with Ichabod falls asleep watching Bones and somehow dreams he's in it. Then Hodgins, who we know already watches Sleepy Hollow, falls asleep and somehow dreams he's in Sleepy Hollow. In Bones it comes down to some weird reaction to something accidentally released in the lab. In Sleepy Hollow it comes down to freaky alternate universe world.
ReplyDeleteBwaaahhh!!! That's awesome and it makes more sense than this crossover.
ReplyDeletefox really just wants to get rd of and fuck the corpse of both shows.
ReplyDeleteYes, it would be an interesting crossover nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteYes it was good in it's first season and now I'm just going to watch other shows and not worry about this show anymore.
ReplyDeleteWow, Fox really is desperate. Why do a crossover between two shows that don't have much life left in them ratings-wise?
ReplyDeletereally sounds like such ha bad idea.... for both shows since they are so seemingly incompatible. as others have noted this feels so desperate...
ReplyDeleteSo... mixing a forensic show with a supernatural show... I'm already on the edge with Sleepy Hollow, this would push it over.
ReplyDeleteAwful idea!!!!!!!!! I get Sleepy Hollow getting in with Lucifer, but BONES Hell NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteI saw some people online suggest that it might be for syndication purposes. Now they can package SH and Bones together and try to convince networks to buy them both due to the crossover.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of next season, SH will only be halfway to syndication so they can start recouping costs for it.
since when is Bones a sci fi show? And since when is sleepy HOllow a crime show? Seems like Bones may be running out of ideas for what could be its last season. If this crossover happens it may in fact be its last season.
ReplyDeleteWhat the freck? I'm intrigued to see how they will make this work
ReplyDeleteWhat??? Fox is a mess these days
ReplyDeleteA bad idea to say the least. What more can you expect from FOX anyway?
ReplyDeleteWell this was unexpected, i am now interested for that one breakup blind item, it will be probably a surprise what we didnt expect at all. I just dont know how will this crossover work, maybe as a dream? But I would like to see Bones and Ichabod together.
ReplyDeleteFox is taking this "I want to believe" too far
ReplyDeleteI don't watch either shows but I'm sure everyone will be raving about the episode after it airs. It's going to be one of those fun, not serious mystery cases. I'm thinking similar to the Supernatural meta episodes.
ReplyDeleteYou nailed it Bruce!
ReplyDeleteNew options for the poll: Confused and WTF.
ReplyDeleteLucifer is from Warner, whereas Bones and Sleepy are both from 20th (fox).
ReplyDeleteIf it was just Booth, then OK, but I can not stand Bones. Can't you just see her totally lost in the supernatural, she has problems in the real world.
ReplyDeleteMaybe "sleepy Hollow" is a TV show in the Bones universe and it turns out one of the Skeleton props is actually a real Skeleton which leads B&B to be on set and investigate and Nicole and Tom play meta versions of themselves?
ReplyDeleteI just posted this. This is the only way I came see this working.
ReplyDeleteIs it April 1st again? How would this even work? I've never seen Bones but I assume there aren't any supernatural elements on that show
ReplyDeleteStupid Idea !! there are many more other show to do a crossover with.... Seepy Hollow is not one of them
ReplyDeleteI don't really watch either show, but this is LOL. Seems to be a desperate move.
ReplyDeleteYes, fan-wise there is crossover potential. Which IMO you can place squarely on David Boreanaz's shoulders. Come for Angel, stay for a silly nerdy procedural.
ReplyDeleteBut the shows themselves are so strikingly different as to negate each other. One is grounded in hyper knowledgeable people working "science" and logic as the underpinning of the universe and the explainer of all things. The other doesn't just have magic and supernatural elements and a penchant for rewriting history but those elements are borderline absurd even within the genre. On one hand the characters literally work in a museum, on the other George Washington was hunting the devil.
I don't even watch Sleepy Hollow anymore and I know that crossover isn't even going to work.
ReplyDeleteI think it's pretty much a ridiculous, desperate move to gain viewers. As much as I would love to see David Boreanaz and Tom Mison acting opposite of each other, this is not where I want to see it.
ReplyDeleteWow. This is the stupidest idea for a crossover I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteYou're sh**ing me right?
ReplyDeleteSorry but this doesn't make any sense. Abby gets a case and calls in the FBI? or Brennan gets a case and needs ... wait no Brennan knows everything. Supernatural show with a procedural, this is going to be strange.
ReplyDeleteLol, that was uber-meta... great idea!
ReplyDeleteLOL :-D
ReplyDeleteYes, but it's still in the same network and the shows are some kind of compatible.
ReplyDeletetotally right man! but.. sleepy hollow is about supernatural.. Bones is just a crimi.. WTF.. crossover between these two? or am I misreading it?
ReplyDeleteCan "best example ever of jumping the shark" be added as an option to this poll? Has it really come to this? If Fox is this desperate, could they at least do a Empire crossover. That may make more sense. Good luck writers and I completely understand if you start working on your resume. Fanfiction writers, you can start writing speculation fics now.
ReplyDeleteWell Bones has had some very vague supernatural references in the past. Angela seeing the vision in the desert, and it led her right to the crime scene of her boyfriend, Avalon the psychic, Booth hallucinating his dead military friend but the Brennan saw him, and spoke to him. There have been these hints at supernatural, all through the show. I think this will fit together in a good way. It'll be awkward, but I'm excited :)
ReplyDeleteLOL!
ReplyDeleteYou didn't misread it. They're crossing over and it will probably be ridiculous.
ReplyDeletejesus!! :D and what? Bones will make an autopsy on dead supernaturals?
ReplyDeleteWoah...dumbest idea ever....in terms of crossover...
ReplyDeleteMultiple times...
ReplyDelete... or there could be an unsolved murder mystery that has taken place during Crane's time that ties into a mystery he and Abby are working on in the present. Abby has the body transported to the Jeffersonian where Brennan and the team inspect the bones and discover cause of death. That information is given to Abby and it becomes a critical piece of evidence that helps her solve her case. The crossover would be the deceased person, but the characters themselves do not crossover into each other's shows. That is the only way I can see this scenario working in a half way believable manner.
ReplyDeleteBreaking News: This Fall both Starling and Central City will be visited by....Younger Bruce Wayne haha.
ReplyDeleteWhat are they going to do? Booth will suddenly awake his former life as Angel and team up with Ichaboad and Abbie? Because, honestly, how can you make a crossover out of these two shows?
ReplyDeleteLet alone 2 shows that are widely different; sure Sleepy Hollow has crime elements, but Bones has none supernatural elements whatsoever as far as I know. A crossover with Sleepy Hollow means fundamentally altering Bones' DNA
ReplyDeleteOne of the only ways it would work, though I'm still leaning to the idea that they are going to get the Angel rights to have David Boreanaz play a Booth that suddenly switches with his alternate universe alter ego, Angel to help out Ichaboad and Abbie. Heck, at this point anything would be possible considering FOX greenlit this crossover
ReplyDeleteI am willing to give this a shot because it could end up being fun, which Bones hasn't been lately. We all know this is publicity stunt by FOX. This I the only way they know how to promote these shows( and this will be the only real promotion either show gets, unless a decision to end Bones happens early in season). When you think about it would be funny to see Ichabod and Brennan together. If they can pull off a convincing story, good for them, but it will not boost their ratings for more than that night at best.
ReplyDeleteDid I sleep for too long and wake up April 1st?
ReplyDeleteGo home FOX, you are drunk
ReplyDeleteThat won't work, because like I've already pointed out, "Bones" has already established on-screen that SH exists as a fictional TV show in-universe.
ReplyDeleteIt does a TV show in the Bones universe. Hodgins mentions DVR'ing it.
ReplyDeleteWow, I never thought it would be possible to screw Bones up even further, what a psychotic idea.
ReplyDeleteWhy? What possible reason is there to crossover Bones (which should've been canceled years ago) and Sleepy Hollow (which should be renewed for another season after the upcoming season). The 2 don't mesh at all. Bad idea.
ReplyDelete
