2015 Character Cup - Nominating Polls, Part C
9 Jul 2015
2015 Character Cup Cancelled Shows Chasing Life DH Forever Fresh Off The Boat Law and Order SVU Person of Interest Poldark Pretty Little Liars Reign Rizzoli and Isles Scandal The Walking DeadWith the close of the first nominating polls, our first known contestants are in. Welcome to the contest Skye Johnson (SHIELD), Oliver Queen (Arrow), Job (Banshee), Vincent Keller (BatB), Kate Beckett (Castle), Sherlock Holmes (Elementary), Jethro Gibbs (NCIS), Ichabod Crane (Sleepy Hollow), and Sydney Bristow (Alias). The second set of polls close at 5:45 pm CST today so go vote here if you haven't already. Like yesterday, here's another little teaser of other shows that qualified for the Character Cup but did NOT need a nominating poll: Empire, Fargo, The Flash, Fresh Off the Boat, Forever, Game of Thrones, Gray's Anatomy, Grimm, House MD, In the Flesh, iZombie, Law and Order: SVU, LOST, and Madam Secretary.
After the 8 remaining polls close, we will finally be ready to create our brackets, finalize predictions, and get this contest started. Woo hoo! I'm looking to start the first round probably on Sunday to give everyone ample time to get their prediction brackets in and to put the final touches on our TV Talk Topics. Until then, I'm assigning homework. Ugh, I know. What do you expect? I'm a teacher. I need good headshot pictures of the characters that are in the contest. Otherwise your favorite character is stuck with the first picture I find on Google. Since the first contestants are now revealed, it's a great time to start looking. The guidelines are below. We'll start using pictures in the second round. You can send them to me via Twitter @dahne1 or simply put them in the comments below. Thanks in advance for your help in this.
Picture Guidelines:
1. Must be clothed and PG please!
2. Clearly shows the character's face
3. Is just the character and not a group thing
4. Must be the character and not the actor (no premiere party or tabloid photos)
5. No gifs - jpeg or png only please
Nominating Polls - The first polls today are the last of the nominating polls. Characters in the nominating polls had to meet the following criteria:
1. They had to have at least 5 nominations.
2. They had to be within 5 nominations of the most nominated character on that show unless they got over 20 nominations.
3. If 2 or more characters got over 20 nominations, they went in the nominating poll regardless of the difference between them.
Ranking Polls - For most shows, the number of nominations a character received determined their ranking as voted on in the policy poll. However some characters had the same number of nominations so for those I did total show nominations as a tiebreaker. For those characters in which the characters/shows both got the same number of nominations, we have ranking polls. Consider them the last ditch tiebreaker.
Nuts and Bolts - All polls are 1 vote only. Polls will close roughly 24 hours after they start. There is no option to change your vote so please choose carefully. As with all SpoilerTV polls, it is 1 vote per IP address so trying to vote multiple times will not count. Happy voting!
Polls will close at 4 pm CST tomorrow. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks in advance for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteWHAT? POI's 4 core and we can only choose one? Damn it.
ReplyDeleteRoot. Just Root.
ReplyDeleteSame as with all the other polls. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteNo, I know, don't worry. It's just really hard. I love all of them.
ReplyDeleteRoot, Rick, Olivia Pope and Henry Morgan
ReplyDeleteI love all of POIs characters but Root keeps me entertained and while I really love Veronica I had to give this one to Henry simply because the Forever scar is still fresh
Also, you made a small typo: it's Finch, not Fitch.
ReplyDeleteFixed. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteRoot baby
ReplyDeleteWhy are you putting Jessica vs April? I love both of them so much, it is hard to decide. But i went with April
ReplyDeleteI actually voted Henry over Veronica for the exact same reason. This is likely Henry's only time in the contest and I alreadymiss the show.
ReplyDeleteEveryone I voted for in part A didn't get in and it doesn't look like anyone from part B will either :/ Not going my way so far lol.
ReplyDeleteNot voting for anyone today, I watch PLL but I don't like Aria and Hannah nearly as much as I like Spencer and Emily so i didn't bother voting. I'm surprised they were the two with the most nominations actually.
Because they both had the same number of character nominations and the same number of show nominations. Hence, the ranking poll.
ReplyDeleteRoot all the way. You've got this, baby!
ReplyDeleteha Harold Fitch :)
ReplyDeleteQueen Root
ReplyDeleteThe only other person who even came close was Spencer. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteTh core POI Four Jesus... love them all but Amy Acker is the uncrowned queen of television and Root is person of interest's MVP the past two seasons. Root Root Root all day!
ReplyDeleteWhen will emily thorne be in one?
ReplyDeleteShe won't. These are just for shows that had more than one character in the running.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Jessica Huang on the last one!!
ReplyDeleteShe's my favorite new comedy character by far. I was glad to see she made it in since comedy doesn't fare as well as drama in these contests.
ReplyDeleteI just meant it like rhetorical question. Not negative or anything :)
ReplyDeleteDaryl Dixon and Veronica Mars. N/A for the rest. We're getting into the good stuff now. This is fun.
ReplyDeleteRoot (well duh!) and House for me today!!
ReplyDeleteI love Root. But I love Shaw just a bit more. So my vote goes to her.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Rick Grimes because (IMO) he is the best. But I know Daryl will win this.
Hannah Marin, Henry Morgan and Jessica Huang.
ReplyDeleteOh okay. Thx for the info :)
ReplyDeleteYes! I thought I was the only one who originally nominated Jessica Huang from FOTB! :D
ReplyDeleteIf I remember right, you did well in the prediction contest last time. Can't wait to see what you choose this time.
ReplyDeletewhen are the rankings gonna be up?
ReplyDeleteI love Daryl.. But I'm pulling for Rick! Only vote today.
ReplyDeleteEither Thursday or Friday. It depends on how long it takes me to figure out the new prediction software and make it so everyone can send their predictions in via it.
ReplyDelete"I love Root too but I actually think the fandom is making a mistake here. She is way too polarizing for non hardcore POI fans, the chances of POI moving up would be better with a more consensual character like Finch or Reese."
ReplyDeleteI disagree. Root has an enormous, passionate fanbase who would go through great lengths to to help her win. I don't think it matters that much if she's polarizing among the nonhardcore POI fans, since *they're* probably not the ones who would participate in these polls. Just the hardcore people. Just FYI, Root was pitted against and defeated Finch, Shaw and Reese in this other poll: http://canadagraphs.weebly.com/may-madness-blogs/may-madness-iv-favorite-tv-character-winner-samantha-grovesroot-amy-acker-person-of-interest
I'd be happy if any POI character were to win this poll, but I'd be absolutely thrilled if Root were the one to represent the show.
She barely made it in but I am glad that she did. I hope she gets even more nominations next year and that the show has more viewers then.
ReplyDeletethat's awesome thanks hopefully Thursday im off work lol but thanks =D
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to use these, I just googled them. I've always loved the look on Job's face here though.
ReplyDelete1) Job
2) Jethro
Harold Finch (took some time to decided) and Gregory House for me today.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy Job made it in, I haven't even thought of his competition. I hope I can keep my predictions close this year.
ReplyDeleteI disagree about Root. Amy Acker has a pretty great fanbase. Nerds love Root ;) and Root also has the LGBT fanbase behind her. Amy is on social media and has shown countless times her appreciation to fans. She motivates the troops.
ReplyDeleteI love all characters, but I voted for Shaw because she's my favorite. However, Root is definitely the one who has the more chances to win out of the four.
I voted for Shaw too. I'm not worried for Root as I know she'll be the one to make it ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for finding them. I have them saved so if you want to delete them, feel free. Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't saying Amy Acker doesn't have a hell of a fanbase, I am just saying that the # of people who dislike Root and will actively vote in the poll just to vote against her is far superior to the number of people who would do such thing with Reese or Finch. I personally don't mind it; like I said, I prefer John but Root is an amazing character who I love as well so I can live with her going into the competition instead, I just think POI's chances would be better with John or Finch. Doesn't really matter though, i think POI will take it regardless!
ReplyDeleteGosh, that last video. I love that scene so much.
ReplyDeleteI've responded to Jon above with a very similar comment, you can check ;) In any case, maybe I am wrong, who knows. I am happy to support Root even if I prefer John.
ReplyDeleteJohn Reese (although I wish Bear made it on the list; would have voted for him!)
ReplyDeleteNone

Veronica Mars

None
I voted for:
ReplyDelete1. Root (This poll killed me!!! I love all them but I went with her because Amy Acker is simply amazing)
2. N/A (I don't watch Poldark)
3. Hanna (I don't like her as much as I like Spencer but the only other option is Aria so...)
4. Catherine de Medici
5. Daryl Dixon
6. N/A
7. Olivia Pope
8. April Carver (She's not my favourite character, I would have loved to see Brenna here but I like April and I don't watch FOTB)
POI wasn't even a factor in polls before Root and Shaw came along. Even if they're both polarizing characters, they do have the most passionate fanbase in the show (them winning the Zimbio poll back in March with over 3M votes and then pretty much every other poll after that should give you a clue) and have by far the biggest chance of winning the poll than any other POI character. Also, like Jon mentioned below, they've got the LGBT fanbase behind them. Can't quite beat that on the internet these days.
ReplyDeleteHarold Finch - It was either him or Root so i flipped a coin.
ReplyDeleten/a

Yay for Poldark and In the Flesh! (I'm assuming Kieren, though I'd prefer Amy) I went with Demelza - but I'm totally fine with either choice - and Catherine from Reign.
ReplyDeleteHere's a photo for Job
http://cdn2.denofgeek.us/sites/denofgeekus/files/4/14//banshee_job.jpg
I voted:
ReplyDeleteHanna
Darryl
Veronica Mars
That scene in M.I.A is just fantastic, gives me chills. Amy is amazing.
ReplyDeleteFor Kieren or Amy from In the Flesh (let me know if you want them cropped):

I could easily be wrong. And I don't think it will matter anyway, I think any of them will be able to win.
ReplyDeleteAccurate. Doesn't matter how casual viewers or former viewers see Root and Shaw, their fanbase is a force to be reckoned with and at the end of the day, that's what gives you an advantage on online polls. Jon and Harold wouldn't stand a chance against other fandoms.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I'm happy that a few underdogs have got in too - Poldark & In the Flesh ftw!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures. Cropped would be better because (cough Kieren cough) will be in much smaller size and I would hate for the face to get lost in the background. Thanks for these.
ReplyDeleteThe person running the poll simply said that she didn't personally like the character, that isn't a rude comment but an opinion, which they are allowed to have :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. I downloaded it into the folder.
ReplyDeleteSpencer was close to getting into the nominating poll. I think she was off by 1-2 nominations.
ReplyDeleteBear was nominated but sadly did not qualify for the nominating polls. Sorry. :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know who to pick between Reese(who I believed had his strongest arc this season than the previous seasons) and Root, but I voted for Root in the end.
ReplyDeleteThen Daryl for TWD and it's funny because I had just saw an episode of Poldark this past weekend and I actually enjoyed it....I'm a sucker for British television(or just British everything, really).
As for the ranking polls:
Veronica Mars and Olivia Benson(mostly because I have only seen SVU from those three shows)
Also, thank you to everyone for getting Oliver Queen through and not Felicity.
ReplyDeleteCheers ;) Here you go, how about this?
ReplyDeleteOh, he was? Aww! Lol. He's a winner for me ;)
ReplyDeletePerfect! Thanks so much. I have downloaded it into the folder.
ReplyDeleteHere's the Poldark's too, I think Ross will win going by the initial voting, but I'll hold out for Demelza til the end :p (I simple refuse to use that over used torso photo that every media outlet had in EVERY column inch about the show while it was on TV :P )

There, Sydney Bristow in all of her glory :
ReplyDeleteOh, right. And that was MY opinion on her opinion, and guess what...which I am allowed to have:)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad she made it in for you.
ReplyDeleteMy votes:
ReplyDelete1. Harold Finch (It was a tough choice between Finch and Reese. Bear is my overall favorite character though.) : )
2. Demelza Poldark (She is one of my four nominations, but Ross is my 2nd favorite Poldark character; so, just like with Outlander yesterday, I win either way.) : )
3. N/A
4. Catherine de Medici (I don't always like Catherine, but I always admire Megan Follows' performance, and I'm basing my vote on this.)
5. N/A
6. Henry Morgan (Forever)
7. Olivia Benson (Law & Order: SVU)
8. N/A
No, the person running the poll said and I quote"I will also gladly vote for whoever is running against Root, no matter who it is." There is a difference between an opinion and such biased, bitter behavior.
ReplyDeleteI'm not giving up on Demelza either. She was one of my favorite new characters and I can't wait to see her in season 2. Thanks again for the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI am just happy that Poldark made it into the contest. It will be good publicity for it and maybe get some more people to check it out.
ReplyDeleteYes, as they don't like the character, which is an opinion they hold and they were having a conversation with another member about the character. Anyone is allowed to vote against a character in the poll for whatever reason they like.
ReplyDeleteBtw it's "Root" only not "Root Groves"
ReplyDeleteWell... Really torn between Root and Shaw. Love them both to death. But today my vote goes to Root.
ReplyDeleteHaha, good choice!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!! : )
ReplyDeleteSorry, there, but there is something called being neutral and impartial, which a person running an opinionated poll should be. It's all fine and dandy if you express you don't like a character, but when you go as far as to say you "hate it with a passion" and will do everything you can to make sure that character doesn't win, that doesn't paint you in a good light and is bound to get a reaction. I'd expect that from any comment/member here, not a person running a piece that should be for everyone.
ReplyDeleteits ok we all agree. Root has been a tv force of nature ( has been for the past two seasons ). haters can drop off somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThat's the great things about this cup ! Even if she isn't in my original nominee, It's one ore character to root for. I doubt I will ever run out of character. =D
ReplyDeleteDid you take the picture into your folder for the cup ?
Pictures for Job, Skye, Sydney, Kate, Ichabod and Sherlock! =D
ReplyDeleteSorry. I can't see the pictures until I refresh the page so I didn't realize that you had attached a picture. I do now have it in the folder. Thanks so much for such a fun picture.
ReplyDeleteShould at the very least be Samantha "Root" Groves.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the great pictures. I've got them in the folder. I appreciate it.
ReplyDelete"The person running the poll" didn't even know Root and Shaw's real names. That should tell you just about when they stopped watching/caring.
ReplyDeleteI can assure you that Dahne will be running the competition fairly, as she does every year despite her opinions which have always been - and will always be - discussed in the comments. She has not ever said that she will be doing anything to make sure that any character loses.
ReplyDeleteAnd let's face it, it's a given that PoI will be winning before anyone submitted the nominations, lol. The fans are very passionate about the show, and we have had some brilliant conversations here over the last few weeks from you all. I fully expect that will happen again throughout this cup too :)
I agree about being entitled to one's opinion. I agree with voting against a character you don't like. I disagree with saying it here where everyone can read it. It just wasn't a smart move. Of course it would anger fans. I brushed it off but some people won't. I'd say it was a bit insensitive.
ReplyDeleteI would have loved having Bear into the competition as well. It would have been so hilarious. Especially with the pictures.
ReplyDeleteIt's great timing with it being on PBS at the moment too :)
ReplyDelete"She has not ever said that she will be doing anything to make sure that any character loses." You want me to point to the right direction, buddy? A print screen, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter whether that person will run the poll fairly (which is the least one would expect) or whether a POI character is going to win. The point here is that the comment was uncalled for, irresponsible and immature.
I was not going to address this again but I have too, sorry. Like I said, yes everyone has the right to their opinion and I said it before no one on SpoilerTV hides their preferences. She can tell how many times she wants she doesn't like the character of Root. That said the organizer did something that I find unprofessional and opened the door to transform the comments section on a battlefield. She outright said she "HATED" that character with a passion. You are certainly not new on this things and know that words have power, there are ways and "ways" to say things.
ReplyDeleteShe also said she liked the comment section more than the actual poll so people could exchange opinions and get others to see their show, well I don't have much will to leave comments when after that comment the door was left open to "hate" comments, validated by the organizer when she chose those words. That is the real problem. People came from the episodes cup where everyone was respecful and having a good time on the comments and the first thing that sees when the nominations start for this one is comments like that.
Here are some more choices for Sydney and Sherlock :).
ReplyDeleteAll I am trying to do is reassure you that the polls will be fair and above board. I can sense that there is some doubts perhaps in that area, I just want to let everyone know that there is nothing to be concerned about.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with this Sushi. I prefer Finch, but what Dahne said was very immature/ insensitive and irresponsible.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't love her?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is. That's honestly why I think Poldark made it into the competition. YAY!! : )
ReplyDeleteI hope it's going down well over the water, I have no idea what the viewing figures are like? Interest in it seems to be growing all the time though, which is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these they are in the folder.
ReplyDeleteI didnt know until recently Amy Acker has an asian fanbase aswell, she worked in Japan doing commercials and as a model :)
ReplyDeleteFinch is my overall favorite for POI, so my vote goes to him. In the likely event that Root is the nominee, here's a pic for each.
ReplyDeleteA photo of Root:
ReplyDeleteI love Root and Amy with all my heart. But I voted for Shaw with the hope that Sarah will be back in Season 5. Plus, Root will going to win anyway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures. I have included them in the folder.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the picture. I have included it in the folder.
ReplyDeleteHanna and Aria for PLL? where are the other girls? damn i missed the nominations :(
ReplyDeleteThey were the only 2 that made it into the nominating contest. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteYeah i understand :( but i'm always surprised how popular Aria is lol
ReplyDeleteSpencer and Emily are my favorite too :(
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know Aria or Hanna were that popular, Spencer has always been my favourite :)
ReplyDeleteLol I just replied to you as well!
ReplyDeleteahahaha i wrote my comment and then find yours lol i'm glad i'm not alone :)
ReplyDeleteI like Hanna but Aria really? lol what about Mona? she's 10x more interesting than Aria
ReplyDeletePeople probably forget about her lol, I do. In order from favourite to least favourite for me it goes: Spencer, Mona, Emily, Alison, Hanna, Aria.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree.
ReplyDeletefor me it'd be Emily-Spencer (it's a tie i cannot decide), Mona, Hanna, Aria, Alison (i really don't like Alison, i wished she'd stayed dead lol)
ReplyDeleteSo more than one will be used for each character?
ReplyDeleteI really didn't like Alison when she came back but she grew on me after a while. Hanna would be above Alison I just don't find Ashley's acting to be very good. Compared to the others at least.
ReplyDeleteNo, we usually take a poll to see which one to use. Although this time around, I might just rotate them.
ReplyDeleteShe's adorable. Sarah Shahi has such a nice smile. I love Shaw as well. I really appreciate the subversive way in which the writers handled her character. She defies all your stereotypes. Just an awesome, badass character. She has a personality disorder that society would assume would hinder her ability to function well. But instead, she turns it into a strength: she can't feel emotion as acutely as the rest of us, so she has a very steady hand when she's operating on people. She's a technically brilliant surgeon. She craves violence, but instead of harming innocent people, she actively fights terrorists and *protects* ordinary citizens-- "all with the knowledge that no one would even know her name" (Finch, 4x12). I love Shaw. And to this day, "Relevance", the episode that introduced her, is one of my favourites of the entire series.
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to Root because I love her character development and complexity, and find her infinitely more fascinating than any other fictional character on TV right now. But I adore Shaw-- and Finch and Reese for that matter-- as well. God bless the POI writers. :')
"I will also gladly vote for whoever is running against Root, no matter who it is." - it is not brilliant conversation's argument, its simple hate.
ReplyDeleteahhh i used to have a problem with the acting of most of them (except Troian and Janel) now i just try not to think about it or i'll stop watching lol Alison just gets on my nerves because she always has ulterior motives and manipulates them all... and Aria is always left to her personal dramas and Ezra this Ezra that. I hate they're isolating Emily too this season so far :(
ReplyDeleteI am curious to know how many nominations did the poi characters receive.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2t4-cwSB7U
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing is I like Ezra on his own but he always got stuck with Aria! And now he's free of her he's barely in it. Emily always seems to get the worst stroylines but Shay does a great job with what she gets.
ReplyDeleteI picked Root, but I love Finch too. One of my all-time favourite Finch scenes was from "If-Then-Else": "The lesson is that anyone who looks on the world as if it was a game of chess deserves to lose." It's such a powerful line, and I always get shivers when I watch that scene. Finch is very much the core of the show. He's the moral compass (though on occasion, other characters serve that capacity-- Root and Reese, for instance, have to remind him of the importance of continuing to save irrelevants in 4x01). As Root declared, Finch the difference between the Machine and Samaritan.
ReplyDeleteI refuse to believe House isn't going to win this thing...there were so many votes for him! He's the greatest. -_-
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten to Root or Shaw yet (I'm still in early Season 1), but I feel like any of those four characters could win and I'd be okay. It's so hard for me to pick over Finch and Reese.
ReplyDeleteHOUSE! Yes. My favourite character ever depicted on TV.
I also voted for Reese. We all see current results of that poll and Root will obviously win (and Character Cup too :)), so I voted for Reese to somehow support him as a classic POI fan.
ReplyDelete[SPOILERS]
But something is bothering me. Sometimes I think that bringing a new female audience with the help of Shaw and Root pairing (started near end of the 3rd season) somewhat slowly killing series. This new audience is more active (in social networks, surveys, etc.), than classical fans, the creators began to listen to them, given more screen time for Root and making Shoot pairing a canon - that's good decision for LGBT part of POI fanbase, but Reese's screen time was significantly reduced in the 4th season. Besides Reese and Finch were often divided, which prevents perceive them together like POI's Batman. I even read some of new fans want Reese to be killed of before end of the series (Really? What he's done to you?). Important thing for POI fanbase is to care for all of the members of the Team Machine ("The Machine's taking care of all of us.", confirmed in 4x22 'YHWH'), because the teamwork episodes of the last season are the best (4x11 'If-Then-Else').
When one of my favorite actresses, Sarah Shahi, came to the show and became regular of the third season, I thought: "Epic! My favorite show became for one more beautiful badass woman better who I greatly admire because of Life and Fairly Legal". We have Reese & Finch (Batman), Shaw (kind of Batgirl), Carter & Fusco as the supporting characters and Root (kind of Joker) as a reccuring villain moving to the bright side. I liked how the authors accurately distributed time between them during the third season.
After 3x09 'The Crossing' & 3x10 'The Devil's Share' (one of the best POI hours for me) I felt sad & accept Carter's death, but after whole fourth season, I feel really confused. It has 4x11 'If-Then-Else', 4x20 'Terra Incognita', 4x21 'Asylum', 4x22 'YHWH' and more great episodes, more serialized POI is very welcome, but the whole season seems experimental and sometimes rough (we all saw that procedural episodes of the first half have better writing than procedural episodes of second half; a lot of viewers don't see chemistry between John & Iris, besides he cleared his mind not on her therapist sessions but with hallucination of Carter; and not to mention some details in the scripts contradict to the previous seasons.
Do not get me wrong, I like all of them, but the classic POI characters formula seems lost and it is killing me. I really hope the writing of the whole fifth season will be strong alltogether as 1-3 season were.
I love all the characters of the show as well. But I have to disagree with you. The show is only getting better in Season 3 and Season 4. And the Root and Shaw pairing has only limited time in the show. The show is not about relationships. The losing of the audiences in rating is only because the traditional viewers of CBS are more used to watch the single story per episode mode. They don't appreciate the bigger picture of the show. But that has nothing to do with the female characters. I'm not part of the LGBT community. I simply just feel that the story is far more interesting with root's character involved than just Reese and Finch helping one poi per episode. I probably would have stopped watching if that was the case.
ReplyDeleteThe creators don't take audience input; they know what they're doing well enough. The screentime complaint is ridiculous, but it's more applicable to the back half of Season 3 than to Season 4, when Reese definitely got some development. And I'm curious about what details contradict previous seasons.
ReplyDeleteBut I do agree that the writes need to do a better job on Reese's relationship. Other than Zoe, none of the ladies seem to have chemistry with him.
ReplyDeleteThought I was on Facebook for a second.
ReplyDeletea favorite picture of Jaime Fraser
ReplyDeleteGreat picture. Thanks. I've added it to the folder.
ReplyDeleteGregory House, forever a very awesome character, Olivia Pope, and Jessica Huang got my votes today,!!!! Just need to say as much as I'll always love Henry Morgan and Veronica Mars, I like the eccentric House even more!!
ReplyDeleteCatherine, Daryl, House, Pope, Huang
ReplyDeletecan i vote for TEAM MACHINE?
ReplyDeleteI love them all They have different personalities and roles to fulfill which i like about the show. Anyway since we can only vote for 1, I'll go with.....
Root, POI.
ReplyDeleteOh man, you're in for a treat! Shaw's introductory episode is one of the best of the entire series! It's called "Relevance", and it's the 16th episode of season 2. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
ReplyDeleteHere are a few for Kate Beckett on Castle:

Catherine De Medici,Rick Grimes & Henry Morgan-Awesome Characters.I hope they make it far :)
Vincent & Sherlock.
ReplyDeleteFor me only POI because I ADORE the 4 nominated characters but my vote goes to......THE MACHINE ! lol
ReplyDeleteRoot gets better later too
ReplyDeleteI voted for Reese, but Root's my closely followed second fav, she really has so many lovers! And agree about different personalities, many times in a show some characters seem unnecessary or are doing what the other can and all, POI balances it.
ReplyDeleteThe show actually gets better with Root in it really, actually the female characters might have saved the show from sinking long ago because they brought something different.
ReplyDeleteAgree about best character development and complexity being Root's.
ReplyDeleteThat is good to hear, I find Root fascinating but she is a psychopath right now so I've not warmed to her as a character, though I loved her background story in 'Bad Code'.
ReplyDeletePhotos
ReplyDeleteIn case you were still after some.
Some options for Sydney Bristow (Alias), Sherlock Holmes (Elementary) and Ichabod Crane (Sleepy Hollow)
Voted for Root in Person of Interest's poll.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't Root's "official" name in the poll be: Samantha "Root" Groves or just Root? For all other POI characters their first and last names are included.
I think we will have another opportunity to show our love for Shaw. ;)

ReplyDeleteProbably my favorite video of Root. Wonderfully done. Hey maybe Dahne would change her mind about Root if she watched it? ;)
ReplyDeleteSo from tomorrow the competition starts??? And also, sidenote;- I don't like Root representing POI, if its anyone, it should be Finch or Reese... ( just a thought)
ReplyDeleteSince my favorite character was banned from the contest can't say I feeling much interest this year. Guess I'll check out any daily topics to see if they are of interest.
ReplyDeleteWho is your fav character?
ReplyDeleteHere are some pictures of Root.
ReplyDelete@Dahne "As with all SpoilerTV polls, it is 1 vote per IP address so trying to vote multiple times will not count."
ReplyDeleteThat is quite funny. Don't you at Spoiler TV see that some groups of people vote not only multiple times but multiple times in an organized fashion? IP addresses can be changed easily. That is really no secret anymore. Don't you see that all characters from all the different shows that get voted for in a normal fashion are in an area from 70 to 240 votes and that there is only one exception to it? And this is not "the" POI fans. This poll doesn't play any role in the Reese, Finch or Carter fandom. With the exception of a few of these fans, most are even unaware this poll even exists. The ones voting here are in the vast majority the fans that are primarily and foremost Root (often also Shoot) fans. They have discovered Spoiler TV and other polling sites for themselves. It has become a sport for them to manipulate polls because they want to push the character of Root beyond limits (even inside the POI fandom it is starting to draw increasingly negative reactions because it is simply being overdone) and they wrongly believe that by manipulating these polls CBS or anyone else would change their mind on the future of POI. As a consequence this poll won't neither be a representative picture of the preferences with regards to TV characters in general nor with regards to the preferences of people frequenting your site nor with regards to the preferences of the general audience of Person of Interest (see events, see viewer reactions i. e. on POI Facebook for that). You could put Dana Scully, Cookie Lyon or whatever most popular character you have out there up against Root here and they still would lose as long as they don't have their fans indulging in organized voting like Root's fans are doing. If you have 200 people casting 200 regular votes for one character but 30 people voting 100 times each plus 70 people casting a regular vote for another character, in the end you will get a result of 200 (with 200 votes being authentic) vs 3070 (with 100 votes being authentic). You really don't have to hold a vote at all as long as this is going on. Everyone already knows who will win under these circumstances. It's your choice to go ahead nevertheless. But it will be a fixed match from the beginning.
Thanks so much for these pictures. I put them in the folder. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteShe definitely looks kick butt in this one. Thanks. It's in the folder.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for these. They are in folder. Catherine looks like someone you do not want to mess with. She looks like she could take both of the men below her with one finger. I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks again for all the awesome photos. They are in the folder.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for these as well. You are making my job so much easier. Thank you! In the folder.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your help in these. They are in the folder. I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteNo the competition will start probably on Sunday. Maybe on Monday. We need to give people time to get their predictions in. The brackets will probably go up tomorrow once I get the prediction site working.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your favorite character already won. Congratulations to him.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these. They are in the folder. I appreciate it.

ReplyDeleteI noticed that the Arrow show was picked with Oliver Queen named. How do you pick them? Is it by the fans or by you and a few others? And what do you look at that helps you make up your minds? Of course i am wanting Oliver Queen because of ALL that he has done thru his 3 seasons. Starting out as a spoiled wienny, self centered rich kid to the strong, broke vigilanti and out to save his city and friends. He will sacrifice himself to save anyone for the good. I just love the show because of the developing storyline and flashbacks to see what happened to make him the man he is now. OH YEA it doesn't hurt that Stephen Amell is extreamly muscular and HANDSOME, LOL.
ReplyDelete"The reason i want to know how the voteing goes is so his fans will step up for Oliver Queen to win or if its out of our hands now and up to you"
Just to clarify for anyone questioning how things work, here is the very detailed process by which the contest rankings are determined.
ReplyDelete1. We started with the nomination stage last week. See here - http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/07/2015-character-cup-nominations-open.html
2. Once nominations were tabulated, I looked to see if there needed to be a nominating poll. The criteria for what got characters in a nominating poll is listed on this post above the polls in the directions under Nominating Polls. A description of ranking polls is there too. Both Oliver and Felicity had over 20 nominations so they went into a nominating poll with the results here - http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/07/2015-character-cup-nominating-polls.html
3. Since Oliver won the nominating poll, he is the one who will represent Arrow in the contest. I have nothing to do with it. It is all based on fan choice.
4. His ranking in the contest is based on the total number of nominations he received in the nomination stage. The policy poll in the second post determined that. Which ranks go against each other first in the actual contest is based off the NCAA 64-team seeded one-shot elimination brackets. You can see an empty bracket here - http://www.printyourbrackets.com/pdfbrackets/64teamsingleseeded.pdf I do not control anything when it comes to where characters are placed on the brackets. That is based solely on the results of the nominations and polls.
5. Oliver is ranked 3rd and will compete in the bottom right bracket. I do not know who his first competitor will be because these nominating polls are not complete yet.
6. Whoever wins the contest will be the fandom with the broadest reach in the shortest amount of time. It always is. If you would like Oliver to win, you will need to motivate the Arrow fandom to vote and spread the word about the contest. I have nothing to do with the results of the contest outside my own single vote in them. In fact, my favorite character isn't even eligible to be in the contest since he won last year so I don't care who wins. I'm more interested in discussing the TV Talk Topic.
I hope that clarifies the process for how characters both get into the Character Cup and how they are ranked. There is no conspiracy here. It's strictly by the numbers.
I've been trying to find Doctor photos, are either of these any good?
ReplyDeleteMan, I never thought of how hard it would be to find a Doctor photo because there are so many of them. We can try these but I'm not sure if anyone is going to be able to be seen when they are shrunk down. You may have to sacrifice some the Doctors and just have a few in the actual picture. I'll put these in the folder, but I won't know if they will work until I create the actual head-to-head poll. Thanks for looking for me though. I really appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's been the problem, lol. I'll have a go at trying to find some with just the newer doctors on a bit later on.
ReplyDeleteHi! Can you reply to me about Root's name in the poll please? Or was that addressed somewhere else?
ReplyDeleteSince Root is primarily called that in the show, I chose that in place of her first name and then I used her last name like everyone else. It is exactly like how Raymond Reddington will be "Red" Reddington in the contest and Daisy Johnson will be "Skye" Johnson.
ReplyDeleteWhy can't it be Root? She's been the MVP of the show for the past two seasons. Why would it have to be Finch or Reese? She's just as integral to the plot as they are. Plus, she has an enormous, devoted fanbase that's been working hard to win numerous other polls and gain some recognitions for POI.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dahne for clearing that up for me. I like the way you are doing this and i hope you continue this.
ReplyDeleteHere are some pictures for Root, Daryl and Catherine, I sent more in the previous article for the characters of round 2. =D
ReplyDeleteI'm overly partial to Ten.
ReplyDeleteSo am I but a lot of people liked 11 too, so it might be best to have both in there.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for this. I put them in the folder and I'll check out the other post to get the others.
ReplyDeleteHere are a few of 9, 10, 11 and 12. Hope they help.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think these concentrating on the newest Doctors will work. I've included all of them into the folder. Appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteOT - I'm going to DM you on Twitter sometime this weekend. I'm thinking about doing a project if the logisitics work out and I think you and Merry and some others would be a great fit for it.
I'm off this weekend so I'll definitely be around. Waiting on SDCC gossip. I look forward to it.
ReplyDeleteOne of Root aliases, Shanon.
ReplyDeleteRoot wins! Huzzah!
ReplyDeleteAny Shoot shippers here? A friend tweeted that:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeTs08CjL8U
im one. the way the romance is done with shoot is unique in that really were seeing it through the eyes of one women, root. its not just full blown romance but... i don't know, the way the writers do it is awesome. That phrase Maybe Someday has a morbid feeling to it now after what has happened.
ReplyDeleteRoot Advances, Of Course. Shes the uncrowned queen of tv.
ReplyDeleteDid anybody from Sons of Anarchy or Justified make the tournament?
ReplyDeleteNope, I'm sorry but they did not. Justified was very close but just missed it. It's a shame.
ReplyDeleteI had nominated Jax from SoA and Boyd from Justified. Also picked Elliott Reid from Scrubs and Dee Reynolds from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia cause I couldn't think of anybody else female but I highly doubted either of them were gonna make it.
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. Only one of my nominated characters made it in too. I never expected 2 of them to get in like you and 1 was a long shot. Even if your favorite characters didn't get in, I hope you still check back in with us. We are having a prediction contest where you can try to figure out who the winners will be and every day we will have a TV Talk Topic that generally gets a good discussion started. It would give you a chance to talk about Boyd and Jax and all your other favorite characters. As a matter of fact, the first TV Talk Topic will include Boyd from Justified.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I guess I just don't understand why not use full name and nickname anyway for the characters known best by nicknames.
ReplyDeleteIt's too hard to see in the brackets because the name is too long that way.
ReplyDeleteSons of Anarchy has never had a big presence on this site so someone from that show not making doesn't surprise me but I thought surely Boyd would. Walton Goggins has been the best actor on TV for years in my opinion. SoA is my favorite show tied with Lost.
ReplyDeleteThank you for responding!
