Wow! Just wow! I can't remember a time when a whole set of polls were this close. We've had some real nail biters in SpoilerTV contest history but never 6 at the same time. Round 2A was insane! Thanks to everyone who participated, voted, spread the word, and commented. We had over 13,000 page views for that round alone. The biggest so far of the contest. Amazing!
First off, I am sorry to everyone whose favorites just barely missed the cut. Some of mine did too but I hope you keep them in mind next July when it comes time to nominate for the new Character Cup. Until then, I hope you stay positive and stick around. Even if your favorites are no longer in the contest, we have plenty of discussion ahead and I'm designing at least one fun bonus poll, nominations for which will start tomorrow in round 3. There's a lot of fun still be had whether you're interested in the actual contest or not. With no further ado, these characters fought a sometimes long and hard battle to arrive victorious for the third round: Samantha "Root" Grove, Matt Murdock, The Doctor, Kate Beckett, Daryl Dixon, Sam Winchester, Leslie Knope, and Dana Scully. Congratulations to them all. Until next time, happy voting!
Prediction Cup Update - Once again brackets were breaking all over the place with the poll results of 3A. Sooze55 has taken the sole lead with Amerdale and JaJosoft in second and third. Huzzah to you all! That's impressive predicting. I don't think we've had the same person winning for 2 days in a row, so it should be interesting if these guys can retain the lead or if the rest of round 2 sees yet another victor take control of the reigns. Best of luck to everyone.

I am constantly amazed by you guys. Thanks so much for making this contest a success. Here's hoping today's race is equally exciting.
ReplyDelete1. Jamie - by default because I am not a fan of antiheroes and I dropped Hannibal while I'm excited to see what's in store with the rest of Outlander
2. Vanessa - technically by default because Emma and Henry are the reasons I dropped Once Upon a Time. I dropped Penny Dreadful too but that was for the content. I really enjoyed Vanessa's character in the first season. She is a woman out of her time and fascinating to watch.
3. Reid - I haven't seen In the Flesh, although I am looking forward to in the future. That said, Reid is one of the better characters on Criminal Minds and there are a lot of them to love. I like the combination of how he is a genius but sometimes he seems like the most innocent or naïve. I look forward to getting to know the character more.
4. Veronica - because she rocks! Veronica is one of my favorite teenage characters ever. She's resourceful and resilient, smart and tough. Her relationship with her father is one of my favorite father-daughter relationships ever on TV. Even if she loses this poll, she is a winner to me because it's been almost a decade since the show went off the air and she's still awesome enough to be in contests like this. I also have never seen Shameless.
5. Helena - by default because Oliver, while he got better in season 2, is still my least favorite superhero on TV. I wasn't a huge fan of Helena in season 1 either but she seems to improve in season 2.
6. Buffy - Like Veronica Mars, Buffy is a true icon and arguably the best teen character ever on TV. She rose to every challenge, except maybe history class, gathered a super loyal crew of friends that she respected and trusted, and kicked vampire butt all over the place. No need for her to stop now. While Damon is snarky and I like that, he's also a murderer and one part of a squicky brother love triangle.
7. ??? - Ugh! Worst pairing of round 2 for me because I love both characters. Agent Carter and Captain Raydor both prevail in male-dominated jobs, they both use their wits to save the day, and they both show excellent leadership qualities. If they were in the same time period, I think they would be friends. In the end, a vote for one is a vote for the other so I'll wait to see who's losing.
8. Tyrion - by default because House is one of the biggest douches ever on TV. I can't respect someone who is that awful to people so even though I've only seen 1 episode of Game of Thrones, Tyrion gets my vote.
TV Talk Topic:
ReplyDeleteI really haven't seen many web series. I checked out The Guild for Felicia Day and I saw I Kissed a Vampire because it was free on iTunes for awhile. Still I love, love, love Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. It is by far my favorite thing created for streaming. I checked it out because Joss Whedon, of course. The fantastic actors were also a plus. I love this web miniseries so much that I watch it every year even with my crazy watchlist. It is definitely the one I recommend.
I haven't really watched shows created just for streaming unless you count this season of Community either. I checked out a few episodes of Hemlock Grove but it was too pay cable for me and I've watched several episodes of Powers, but need to finish it. I also saw the pilot for Daredevil and it is high on my list, while I intend to check out Sense8 and Grace and Frankie. For me streaming TV has the same advantages and disadvantages as paid cable. Sometimes the story is there but you can also get a lot of gratuitous sex, violence, language, and nudity. I don't care for that so I am sometimes hesitant to check them out without hearing great reviews from others. Mostly though I think that there is too much TV on already so a streaming show has to go out of its way for me to even know about it. Advertising these shows is a huge challenge. As for coming out all at once or weekly, it doesn't matter to me because it is highly unlikely that I would be watching right when it comes out anyway. However, knowing something has a lot of episodes does put it further down on my watchlist.
I tend to like webisodes for what they are, ways to keep me entertained while my favorite shows are on hiatus. There are just never long enough for me so I tend to wait until they are all out before I sample them. My favorites were from Grimm. I often don't know about webisodes though because I actively avoid spoilers for certain shows. I'd love to get some suggestions for ones I've missed. Mostly though I tend to like the wacky stuff that casts do behind the scenes or during conventions like SDCC more.
1. Jamie
ReplyDelete2. Vanessa - I started PD only recently and i am already finishing Season 2 soon. She is awesome in it and i don't really like Emma either.
3. Don't watch any of these
4. Veronica
5. Helena - BY FAR, she is just amazing, just like all the other clones. Sadly, she will not win this one
6. Buffy - I hate Damon in recent seasons
7. Peggy - She is the main reason why Agent Carter is this amazing
8. Tyrion
Emma swan
ReplyDeleteOliver Queen
Tyrion Lannister
I am so bad at predicting but all these polls are so close now which makes it so entertaining! This will be really interesting. Thanks dahne again for organizing it!
BTW- at this very moment I am watching agents of shield 2x18 "frenemy of the enemy"
Jamie
ReplyDeleteEmma
Mickey
Helena
Tyrion
Jamie,Emma,Helena,Damon & Tyrion.
ReplyDeleteI've stopped commenting on all the upsets of this cup, way too many to count. And I've lost so many of my favorites that I thought would make it further. I think I am rooting for Peggy to take it all.
ReplyDeleteToday:
1. Tough choice. Such different characters. I will go for Jamie based on the amazing qualities of his character. Outlander may be overrated around here in my opinion but Jamie is really a brave, loyal, loving character that has tremendous growth during the course of Season 1. Hannibal is obviously a ridiculously complex character himself but I think I prefer Jamie, as incomparable as these two are.
2. Emma Swan by default
3. I am not a regular Criminal Minds viewer but as far as procedurals that I don't follow but watch random episodes every now and then it is probably my favorite and I like Reid so I am voting for him by default since I don't know his opponent
4. I've only seen bits of Veronica Mars but I like her enough to vote for her here, especially when I don't know her opponent
5. Oliver Queen all the way. I really adore Oliver. And I don't like Helena and I still think Orphan Black should have killed her off after the first season. I am still surprised she is the most popular clone on the website, really thought it was Allison. Oliver is an awesome character for me to watch
6. Damon by default
7. Peggy Carter - go go go go!
8. Wow such a tough poll. I won't vote I believe. Both are some of the best written characters I've ever seen on any platform and portrayed by tremendous actors. I am legitimately fine with whoever moves on.
House is one of the biggest douches ever on TV.-AMEN.The main reason i could never go back to watching the show after i watched 6 episodes back to back. One of the worst characters i've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteOliver is one of the worst superhero character i've ever seen IMO.I hate him.
ReplyDeleteSorry Sharon, I like you, but Peggy has my heart. Also Jamie (honestly, I would vote against Hannibal either way, he is a freaking serial killer), Helena and Buffy. It will be interesting to see who wins the last poll, Tyron or Dr. House.
ReplyDeleteI naturally watched Daredevil (who didn't?) and I Sense8, thought the latter one didn't convince me. I like the concept better than the execution.
I was about to drop Sense8 but then it got pretty good midway. But Daredevil is still miles better than this show IMO.
ReplyDeleteThe only webseries I watched is Versailles (on MyDamnChannel). I started watching it cause I'm a huge fan of Patricia Heaton (and her hubby David Hunt).
ReplyDeleteThis summer I'll check out a webseries called Child of the 70s (It's on YouTube). I know one of the writers (from Twitter), so I really want to see it!
It got better, but I am not sure I'll watch the second season.
ReplyDeleteDaredevil is pretty awesome.
Obviously we disagree big time, but what else is new?
ReplyDeleteThis was again not too hard poll for me, had to NA for some since I dont watch neither show
ReplyDelete1. Hannibal by default, dont watch Outlander
2. Emma by default, dont watch Penny D.
3. NA
4. NA
5. Oliver by default, dont watch Orphan Black
6. Tough one, staying with my older favourite Buffy
7. NA
8. Tyrion, liked House too, but Tyrion all the way.
I just want to say to whomever picked the photo of Reid for this round-good choice. Cute photo :D.
ReplyDeleteEmma
ReplyDeleteOliver
Buffy
Peggy
House
My votes:
ReplyDeleteVanessa
Veronica
Helena
Peggy
Tyrion
Buffy! She is one of my all time favorites.

Answer to the question: Web Therapy(because of Lisa Kudrow), Daredevil(duh!) and Lilyhammer(was shown in my country), planning to watch Orange Is the New Black, Bloodline, Marco Polo and Sense8
ReplyDeleteWe agree on some important things though lol. We both adore Lost above and beyond. I think that is why we try to keep listening to one another but neps, doesn't work lol
ReplyDeleteI love the last stride of Season 2 episodes. Are you enjoying it? Melinda was one of my favorite installments of the series and I am not even the biggest May fan out there (I like her but I like other characters more). Also, the episode that follow is the dirty half dozen I believe and I love that episode and all the significance it has
ReplyDeleteHannibal is a very bad person, but he is also one of the best drawn, most complex, and best portrayed characters out there. I have to vote for him. Also for Emma and dear Spencer Reid, who is the reason I still watch Criminal Minds.
ReplyDeleteSince I live in a rural area, internet connectivity is not the best, so watching anything online is really hard to do. So I've never seen any of the web only series. A couple of times when the power has been out or the satellite isn't working, I've been forced to watch an episode online, but it is constantly buffering.
Another thing i wanted to add-I might drop Battlestar Galactica soon. I'm still stuck at Episode 3 of Season 1 for 2 weeks now and i can't seem to bring myself to watch the 4rth one.Such a shame.I think i like Dark Matter much better than this.LOL!
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter is an excellent, must watch how, in my opinion. Selling points:
ReplyDelete- Tight, very focused storyline
- One of the best kick ass heroines ever and one of my favorite characters all around. She is well rounded, complex and so so easy to root for.
- Excellent acting
- Banter and interactions between characters (especially Carter and Jarvis) are amazing
- Awesome action sequences and great twists
- Very much character driven
We seem to be able to agree with a lot though :F
ReplyDeleteNot having access is a major deterent to web-based shows and I'm not sure how they get around that. I am not a fan of having to wait for my shows to buffer either. In fact, it has to be a very special show for me not to get so impatient that I just say forget it.
ReplyDeleteOh that is such a shame. What do you dislike about it? I don't watch any Scyfy show currently and I don't even know what Dark Matter is about - is it similar? I find it odd that you dislike BSG though, really thought you would love it with it being the perfect combo of elements of The 100 and Lost.
ReplyDeleteYa,we like many shows-OUAT,AoS,HTGAWM to name the few.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think "Community" would be the only "web series" I've seen if that counts, too. I don't mind watching things online-I've watched DVDs of shows I like online, and watched new episodes of series I like online, and all that, and I can deal with the sex/cursing/violence being constant parts of the show if the show is otherwise really good.
ReplyDeleteI think, for me, it's mainly that I'm still just so used to watching stuff on an actual TV a lot of the time, and I don't know if web series ever release their episodes on DVD-I like having a series altogether in one place like that for me to watch in order and whatnot, too, if I'm getting into it. So I don't really think to jump on the web series trend as a result. Maybe with time I'll work on checking out a few more web series-perhaps some of the recommendations people share here will sound interesting to me and I'll go from there at some point.
I think he is a real hit for other people and he obviously has a lot of fans who love him. I just don't like that kind of character. I think it is because my job forces me to work with people all day that I don't want to see that in my entertainment.
ReplyDeleteYes! But also for example with arrow season 3 and those kind of things.
ReplyDeleteBTW- have you been able to watch GOT season 5 yet?
That is all you guys. I am still pulling from the photos that everyone found for me. I may actually have to open up for more pictures again because people I didn't think would go this far are excelling. It's exciting.
ReplyDeleteOh now I feel left out ahah. I also love all those shows!
ReplyDeleteI can understand that. It's like when I see episodes where a character is yelling at someone who works in retail or another customer service job-I always wind up feeling bad for the customer service worker and disliking the character yelling at them as a result. My family's worked retail, my sister worked fast-food for a time, I work retail, so I have MUCH sympathy for what those people go through, having to deal with annoying, rude customers on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteI am not counting anyone out for any reason at this point. The whole tournament has been a shock.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying really hard to watch at least a season before making any decision. The main problem of the show for me is it seems a bit dated(Which is natural) in it's character treatment. It lacks that hot young blood thing i look for in every show.Besides, there's no twist or unpredictability at all which i strongly dislike in a show.None of the characters stand out for me.
ReplyDeleteNeat :)! If you do need any more pictures for him, I'll volunteer to look for some-a tough job, but someone's gotta do it :p.
ReplyDeleteWe are all a community ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating. My brackets are completely shot now and most of my favorite characters are toast so I'm just sitting around with my popcorn watching the fun. Stay tuned tomorrow to nominate for a special poll.
ReplyDeleteSame reason i hate Klaus so much.So arrogant and smug.
ReplyDeleteI am not really sure I understand what you mean about it being dated in character treatment, that's a new one for me lol. But I guess you have solid enough reasons there. I really didn't find the show predictable at all though and I thought there were plenty of twists. But maybe it just isn't siting right with you for some reason, it happens. I will really stop recommending you shows though loll
ReplyDeleteHey there's still Peggy to support Dahne!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much! I am adding this! :)
ReplyDeleteNo problem! Also, the show is just 8 episodes so far, so it's very very easy to add it and watch it without preventing you from doing other stuff ;) Let me know how it goes for you, I really hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteYa,i'll just end up disliking eventually.I'm lucky my brother and i have the exact same taste. We like & dislike the exact same shows.
ReplyDeleteDid you watch Veronica or Outlander to help me for these 2, by any chance, I would be very grateful.
ReplyDeleteAwwww, that's a shame, I'm sorry! Many of mine seem to have dropped out early, too, save for Reid...and I don't know how long he'll last against people like Daryl or Buffy or Peggy or whatnot if he moves forward after this poll!
ReplyDeleteLike you said, though, this competition has some surprises, so...
Lol that's rare. But I think my strange thing with you is that I am usually good with giving recommendations if I know the type of stuff the other person tends to like. Because I watch so many different types of shows (as you do lol) I usually have a pretty large pool to select from and I can say one that I think the other person will like. With you though, it just doesn't work lol
ReplyDeleteNot yet.
ReplyDeleteI am just reveling in how topsy turvy this contest has gotten. I can't wait to see who surprises next. It's fantastic, even if my favorites are losing and my brackets are toast. I would be very psyched to see Peggy Carter take it all. And now, that's a possibility. The more new people who learn about this contest, the less predictable it is. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAllison was one of the least nominated characters from Orphan Black. Of the clones, it was Sarah and Delphine that came closest although Felix was the number one pick.
that Oliver/Helena race is going so tight.......I expect arrow hater/OQ haters to vote against him!
ReplyDeleteHappy that Sam made it, sad for Olivia.
ReplyDelete1. -
2. Vanessa Ives - i like her. And while i was watching OUaT i hated Emma (she was one of reason i dropped show)
3. Spencer Reid - Keiran i like you, but unfortunately for you i like Reid way more.
4. -
5. Helena - i like her more than Oliver. And Oliver from time to time annoys me.
6. -
7. Peggy Carter - i like her a lot and i don't watch Major Crimes. I only know Sharon from The Closer and never really liked her in there.
8. House MD - i don't watch GoT.
Only web series that i watched was Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (because of actors and Joss Whedon) and love it.
From tv shows created for streaming sites i watched Daredevil and Sense8. I prefer all at once, because then when i have time, i can watch most of it at once.
I have been loving everything about season 2, especially the second half! Skye's story is so interesting and I really wanted her to use her powers to take down those men. "Melinda" was exceptional. It showed us why may is like she is and the relationship between skye and her parents is nice. I felt sorry when she turned on her father but I understood why. I am very excited for what is to come. I also like Luke Mitchell's role
ReplyDeleteOh okay, but you will report when you have, right? ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't. At least not yet. I am hoping to one this contest ends though.
ReplyDeleteMy preferences are really tough to predict.I sometimes go in thinking i'll hate it(Most recently Banshee) but i end up loving it and sometime i'm sure i'll love it(Most recently Aquarius) then it turns out it's the worst thing i've ever watched.I never thought in a million years i'd like Breaking bad but here we are. Most of the time i root for characters no one seems to like(Enzo of TVD).So,i'm weird that way.
ReplyDeleteI sure will :D
ReplyDeleteCool. I have never heard of either show. What is Versailles about? Is it historical fiction or contemporary?
ReplyDeleteMay is my fav character.
ReplyDeleteVery good :)
ReplyDeleteI sure did.LOL!
ReplyDeleteI really love her in season 2!!
ReplyDeleteI really like Fitz too.Iain did such an amazing job this season!
ReplyDeleteVeronica Mars I've only seen random episodes earlier on when it was on and while I liked what I saw, I wasn't watching TV shows like today so I never actually saw it all straight so I can't talk about that one.
ReplyDeleteOutlander I've watched the first season. My very honest opinion is that this is a good show, although it is overrated around here (in my very very humble opinion). Keeping it honest, let's do pros and cons:
Pros:
- the acting really is as top notch as everyone claims it is
- the show is not afraid of going there, whatever "there" means. It just goes. It makes for a pretty riveting viewing experience. You truly never know what to expect (it is a bit GOT like in that sense)
- the two (or three) main characters are very well rounded, complex (with a mix of flaws and virtues) and very easy to root for
- the settings are beautiful and the production values really are something else
- the pacing on the second half of the season significantly picks up and it gets way more enjoyable for me
- realism (gore, nudity, etc. - it's all there)
- I am no shipper but the main couple here really is very very easy to root for and you can't help but be amazed at their dedication for one another
Cons:
- severe underdevelopment of most characters that are not the main 3, especially in the first half of the show, making it very hard to care for secondary storylines
- pacing issues in the first half of the season really were an issue for me. It is related with the previous reason because my lack of interest in the secondary characters made it hard for me to care about a lot of what was going on. This is also highlighted by the 60 minutes episodes, I believe they wouldn't be needed all the time. But like I said, this gets way better on the second portion of the season, in my opinion
- I am not sure if this really is a con but the show goes to a whole new level of gore and realism on the last two episodes and for some people it will be too much. Not sure how that would work with you
In probably 1 hour or so the thread will be filled with more hardcore Outlander fans than I am that will be able to sell you the show better than me, I am sure ;) In any case, I hope the message that I enjoy the show was clear enough and that it passed - I like it, I just think it has some issues (but even those seemed to be minored to a great extent in the second half)
Interesting that Helena and Oliver Queen are both at 50% right now! I voted for Helena. Most were easy today. lots of default picks even though those picks were good choices for me. Jamie Fraser I nominated another character from Outlander so, he was a bit more of a defaulty default pick for me today. Emma default, Reid, Veronica, Buffy on this poll I had to think for a minute. I love Damon but...Buffy had to get my vote. Sharon Raydor for reasons I stated in round 1 and Tyrion Lannister as stated in round 1.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree. But I think my favorite thing about Melinda was actually the connection between May and Skye's storyline at the end of the episode. It caught me completely by surprise, it was awesome
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that. I love when the contests bring good recommendations to people. I am going to check out In the Flesh for sure.
ReplyDeleteAgent Carter is a awesome and only 8 episodes so very easy to catch up on. It is historical based but Carter handles the things that come her way so well. She's a smart, kickbutt character and one of my favorites from this season.
Veronica Mars can feel a tad dated but don't let that stop you. It's also a largely teen cast, but it does not feel like a teen show because Veronica is somehow wiser and snarkier than the people her age. I originally did not watch it because I didn't have the channel and then I didn't want to add another teen show to my list. Once I was convinced to watch, I lvoed it pretty quickly. It deals with dark matter but it does it with grace and the father-daughter bond is the best I've ever seen. I hope you give these a try. If you do, let me know how you feel about them.
I voted for Spencer Reid (of course!), Oliver, Damon, and House.
ReplyDeleteThe only Netflix show I've been able to watch all the way through is House of Cards. For some reason, I just don't enjoy online only shows. Maybe it's because they can show more graphic things than TV shows can (foul language, sex scenes, etc). Anyway, I do like when they release episodes all at once like House of Cards does.
See, one thing we agree!!! Ian was one of my Emmy dream nominees for this year although it would never happen.
ReplyDeleteFitz is my favorite character on the show, I adore him
I'll just decide you are a statistical anomaly ahah
ReplyDeleteThe character interactions between Carter and Jarvis are only second to those between Henry and Abe from Forever for me this year. I loved thier banter.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!
ReplyDeleteI can guarantee that you will be blown away. And there is no way we won't agree here. I have yet to find anyone who didn't love the final 3 episodes of Game of Thrones season. To me, they were the best 3 episode sequence of any show I've watched this year
ReplyDeleteI actually like every character. I like skye the most though. I just really really like her
ReplyDeleteI didn't care for him much in Season 1 but this season he really came on his own.Iain killed it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the help again, for the time you spent typing and that you even bothered to help me at all.
ReplyDeleteThat's really shocking to me about Orphan Black. I've gotten out of touch with the fandom it appears. I am really shocked with that!
ReplyDeleteOh Peggy to take it all would be so awesome but I don't want to get ahead of myself. I am happy we still have her here, let's take it step by step. I just find her character so awesome.
I hope not. People don't hate Oliver as much as they hated those episodes and wanted them to lose. And after SDCC I think people are becoming less frustrated with Arrow so maybe it won't be like last time. Still it's going to be a very close race.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like every character on Shield, it's incredible (I don't particularly care for Mack but I don't dislike him either)
ReplyDeleteMAN, Athos was so close! It was a tight race, and if he has to lose, at least it's to a character that's over 50 years old!
ReplyDelete- Jamie! One of the most complex characters I've seen on TV in quite a while. Sam was snubbed of that Emmy nom.
- Vanessa. I adore Eva Green, and since OuaT went to sh*t, it's never getting a vote from me.
- None.
- Veronica. Oh, that witty, cynical Miss Mars.
- None.
- Buffy. I honestly never got into BtVS but she's a kickass female character and I hate everything that TVD has done to Damon, a character I loved in the books. Thus, my vote goes to Buffy (and seriously - she'd have him staked in a heartbeat).
- Peggy! I'm seriously so happy that so many strong female roles have made it to the second round. She is everything I love about well-rounded females who can show fragility but also kick your ass to the curb.
- Tyrion. One of the best characters from the books and series.
Same (ahah, seriouslyy, not saying it just for us to agree)
ReplyDeleteI decided to add Agent Carter for sure, other 2 will have a lower priority but will find time to watch. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI think you'll find the people here very happy to talk about the pros and cons of almost any show with you. We love to talk TV so if there's anything else your curious about, chances are someone here will have seen it and give you their honest opinion about it.
ReplyDeleteNo problem ;) Keep in mind that a lot of this is personal opinion though. As this thread clearly shows, these opinions vary a lot. I think recommendations and hearing about it helps but there's really no better way than to check it out yourself.
ReplyDeleteBobbi is pretty badass too.
ReplyDeleteI know its a personal opinion, but you explain that so well that I take whatever you say.
ReplyDeleteBobbi is awesome. I was in awe of her in the early portion of the season when she was introduced but the my love for her fizzled a bit with the other Shield storyline, although she ended up coming well out of it, I am back to loving her.
ReplyDeleteYou all no I am a strong anti-shipper but I think the two leads are compelling too, mostly because they are both strong characters with or without each other. Claire a bit more so. The settings and production values took my breath away. When that becomes a TV Talk Topic, I hope people include pictures.
ReplyDeleteAhah such a responsibility ;)
ReplyDeleteI recommend Agent Carter, too...and not just because it is currently the only female lead Comic Book show out there, at least until Jessica Jones and Supergirl are released.
ReplyDeleteThe great thing about the show is that each season is constructed like a mini-series, meaning it has an concluded storyarc. (You don't even need to know much about the MCU to get what it is about)
And Peggy is just awesome, as is the actress playing her. She just won a dubbattle against the stars of Agents of Shield.
Love this Buffy gif. She was the first kick butt teenager I had seen and that makes me still love her today.
ReplyDeleteI am very surprised to see Major Crimes not only its here in the poll, its that also made it to the 2nd round, I have never seen on STV that people talk about MC.
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing about Lilyhammer but never saw it. It's about a mobster who moves right?
ReplyDeleteNow only if they could figure out what to do with Ward.Brett is such a talented actor but he gets such bad material to play with. His entire SL in season 2 didn't make one bit sense to me.It's a good thing he's pretty.
ReplyDeleteYes they are very strong characters without the other but yet they manage to bring out the best in each other when together, that's pretty awesome. And there is also their dedication to one another and their willingness to literally cross the earth in the search for one another - that's pretty amazing to watch as well. I know I look like a standard shipper speaking, but I am not, I promise, it's just that the show really does a good job with this relationship.
ReplyDeleteI think you will find that Jamie's development takes a bigger step in the later portion of the season. They will explore his upbringing and the relationship with characters from his past that will really elevate the character.
Yep, he moves to Lillehammer in Norway.
ReplyDeleteI think House was a real person I would want to punch him in the face (he would also have a million lawsuits filed against him.) I don't think I would have made it through all of House without the supporting cast. And Jesse Spencer didn't hurt either. :)
ReplyDeleteI will second that you don't have to know anything about Marvel to understand Agent Carter. I never saw the Captain American movies but I still was able to follow the show without any trouble.
ReplyDeleteThe same choices as before: Hanni, Vanessa & Kieren
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of watching shows online and patiently waiting until video is loaded. As for originally designed for streaming shows I watched Hemlock Grove (waiting for last season) and tried House of Cards, OITNB & Bloodline (didn't like them).
I don't mind waiting week for new episode IF whole season consists of more than 10 episodes. I prefer to marathon shorter seasons.
True Blood and Grimm had some funny webisodes.
Its contemporary with some video flashbacks. I don't actually know where the name comes from, but it has been some time since I watched it..
ReplyDeleteIt's only 8, short episodes about a brother and sister and they recall stuff about their mom who was an actress (she died).
Eve Gordon and David Hunt as siblings, Patricia Heaton as their mother and also Fred Willard and William H. Macy.
It's just very weird to watch, but I thought it was pretty funny haha
I like Ward very much for the complex character that he is. He is obviously a horrible person but as a character I really enjoy him. And honestly, I know people complain they did little with him this season but it felt very organic to me for things to take its time to get somewhere. What he did on Season 1 was so big that I think this time was needed, either before he assumed a more prominent big bad role or before he went for redemption. One way or the other, I think the time in between was needed to show how grey his character was.
ReplyDeleteI agree entirely that Brett Dalton is insanely talented. As a side note, he also seems to be insanely fun to hang out with. Have you seen his videos with Hayley Atwell? So awesome
Agreed for the gif, its reruning on SyFy in my country so I catch it somethime, sometimes I think old shows have more soul and heart than 60 percent of the new shows.
ReplyDeleteHayley Atwell is gold and she is such a crush of mine!!
ReplyDeleteI'm actually fine if either Peggy or Sharon wins because they both remind me a lot of each other. Tough, smart leaders who happen to be women too.
ReplyDeleteHe's fun and very down to earth.I'm going to watch those videos right now.
ReplyDeleteAs a side note, I recommend the Captain America movies, they are entertaining and fun. And you get more Peggy!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. But hardhome was the best, probably the best episode of the series
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked about Orphan Black too. I always got impression that Alison was one of most popular clones.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you've seen these and all the Agent Carter responses that followed (including the ones with Cap):
ReplyDeletehttps://instagram.com/p/5Ba4scl30T/
No?
Thank god I am not alone and totally crazy in that ahah
ReplyDelete2 of my fave characters ever - damon and Buffy. Not surprising, Buffy kicks another vampire!
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly. It's hard to say with this show and right now, it sure as hell fells like it. I still remember my reaction upon watching the red wedding though lol
ReplyDeleteMy votes:
ReplyDelete1. Jamie Fraser
2. Emma Swan (This is my toughest vote in round 2. I really did not want to choose between these two ladies. They are two of my favorite female characters on TV at the moment, but I have liked Emma longer; so, she gets my vote. I'm sorry Vanessa.) : (
3. Spencer Reid
4. N/A
5. Oliver Queen
6. N/A
7. Peggy Carter
8. Tyrion Lannister
I still have plenty of people to support. I didn't mean that. Plus I'm used to not having any choices I love by the time we get to round 4 in these contests. I actually love that these have been so close even if my favorites get out because a lot of times they fall into predictable lines and that gets boring even if it is your favorite. Last year my favorite character of all won but the same people kept winning by large margins so even though my character was winning it was nowhere near as fun or exciting as yesterday's polls were. I love a good shake up and honestly having no idea how something is going to pan out.
ReplyDeleteYes, me too. There are so many surprises around here. Barry Allen was beaten by a Shameless character. I never in a million years would have guessed such thing could happen
ReplyDeleteSomehow i missed it.What was that? LMAO!! I love this cast so much!
ReplyDeleteI am still not sure we can have such a big shake up this year as far as the winner is concerned though. I have yet to see anything that suggests to me that Root doesn't have this in the bag.
ReplyDeleteOh god, the red wedding was just terribly awesome! I was completely heart-broken. Blackwater was amazing as well
ReplyDeleteThe Agent Carter and Agents of Shield cast has been challenging each other over the last few days to see who gets the most hillarious video lol. There are plenty of them!
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/HayleyAtwell/status/621464080235241473
I couldn't believe they were actually doing that in Red Wedding
ReplyDeleteJeez, do you think you could have found a more dorkier picture for Reid? In real life MGG isn't a bad looking guy.
ReplyDeleteSteven Van Zandt is acting really great here, and what I like the most is that its not your typical show with a unique setting, great scenery and acting, it balances very well with the dark humor.
ReplyDeleteI expect the final two to be rather dull for most people but that's true for any contest because it only concerns 2 fandoms. That's why I never make the final day longer than the others. It is literally the one that has the least amount of people invested. That's where the whole idea of the TV Talk Topic and the prediction contest came about. I was tired of getting to the end and having people drop out of the conversation because they no longer cared about the polls.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, have you seen the latest Hayley-EVC video? It's hilarious:
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/HayleyAtwell/status/619029407081046016/video/1
That's all very true and very good thinking ;)
ReplyDeleteOh I still have plenty of people to support. I didn't mean it like that. I love Sam, Scully, Veronica, Buffy, Peggy, and Sharon, although one of the last two is definitely out this round. Darn brackets :-P
ReplyDeleteSoo cool :) did you know Joe fazzio (writer from revenge) is in the HTGAWM writing team
ReplyDeleteAh so you still have people in the game!
ReplyDeleteYes I saw today before in the Open Discussion Thread. Remember, you must watch Agent Carter once you are done with Shield, even Emily Van Camp wants you to do it ahah (I never get tired of campaigning)
ReplyDeleteI have swiftly become a fan of the - should I call it a genre? What I've watched so far has been Bosch, Hemlock Grove, Sense 8, Daredevil and Deadbeat. Also Daybreak, which shared a title with the ABC Taye Diggs series, but I'm inclined not to count it as it wasn't 40+ minute long episodes.) I think that's all I've watched. What surprised me was how much money was being put into production values. I'd expected scripts to be good and *some* name actors but I thought overall they would be relatively small projects compared to broadcast shows and that I would notice the difference in the budget on screen.
ReplyDeleteHemlock Grove was the first one that I watched and it fit the mold I had expected. Pretty good story, interesting characters, werewolves, vampires, and nut jobs. One of the most awesome things about watching this show turned out to be a standard and massively awesome thing about all of the online series. The entire season is uploaded at one time so if you're took hooked to go to sleep at a reasonable hour you do not have to.
I digress. Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu have thrown some serious duckets into these shows. It's visible on screen. It's evident that the comments from people (during the last writers and actors strikes) about their willingness to jump on the new platforms has panned out as true. These shows aren't being manned by second tier people unable to get through an audition on a big budget film.
The biggest pro, as I mentioned, is the fact that all episodes are available when the show "airs". The only reason I wait for next week is because I have no choice. I honestly cannot think of a con.
The series I would recommend: Bosch (Amazon.. I stopped an ep or two out because, having read several of the books, there was an event I was worried would be brought from the books to the screen and I was avoiding it.) Titus Wulliver doing some of his best work.
Sense8 - If you love heavily character based stories...I think you will love this show. I watched all 12 episodes in one weekend.
Deadbeat - a surprise. It's quirky, weird and the first season was a lot of fun. Not sure how some of the changes made for season two are going to work. Haven't had time to check them out yet though.
As for Webisodes....I've seen a couple. The Ghostfacers one for Supernatural and The vignettes they did for Grimm. And several of webisodes made for Teen Wolf. All were fun, but not as satisfying as the Webseries have been.
I cringe when I see that on TV too or people talking down to the people who work for them and generally being a jerk. We've all had bosses like before and I'm not a fan of dealing with people during the day and then choosing to deal with them in my entertainment. It's the reason I hated Gibbs the first few times I saw him. He reminded me of the worst boss I ever had. Now I've come to like and respect him even if he isn't a favorite.
ReplyDeleteI will, I promise but first person of interest ;)
ReplyDeleteLol we sort of agree on Oliver, I think he's terrible too but I think Barry Allen is worse.
ReplyDeleteI actually made a game out of a House marathon one day when I was bored. I watched it until House came on then left and did something else and then kept coming back to do the same thing. I really liked the show that way, which is surprising because I typically don't like medical shows to begin with. I liked the case of the week format here better than most hospital shows. Oh and the only reason i ever tried it was because of Jesse Spencer. I saw an article on him in some magazine somewhere and thought I'd check it out.
ReplyDeleteI watch and love both but I think, knowing you, that Agent Carter is much more of your thing. We'll see. I am very glad you are trying out POI though, I hope you enjoy it! Let me know how it goes. Are you going to watch it after you finish MAOS or will you watch PLL before?
ReplyDeleteSometimes it happens to me as well, I have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteYour comment was misedited with the bolds. I saw it briefly before it disappeared. Maybe it has something to do with that.
ReplyDeleteAfter MAOS! I am not going to watch PLL after all ;)
ReplyDeleteOh yh that's probably it then, I was a bit embarrassed about that it was already long enough, bold made it worse! I changed it straight away though.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. If somebody actively does something wrong, intentionally screws up at a job, that's one thing, and I know there are some jobs where mistakes can't be as affordable as others (anything in law enforcement or medicine, since there's literal life or death situations at stake there). But even then, there's ways to handle those issues without coming off like a jerk, and in other less intense jobs...people make mistakes. It happens. You deal with it as best you can and move on.
ReplyDeleteI've been pretty fortunate to have good bosses thus far. Course, I've had female bosses, so that might factor in, too, as female bosses are often treated and act differently than male ones for fear of coming off as "b*tchy" or "aggressive" (even if they act the exact same way men do). But I do dread the day I may wind up getting a boss I don't like, and I agree that when you have to go to work and put up with that kind of behavior, the last thing you want to do when coming home is turn on a show that has a character like that who's being praised and loved for their behavior. It'd be one thing to watch a nasty boss getting their just desserts on TV-a bit of catharsis-but if they get by with their crap, then I don't blame people for finding that frustrating.
Ah, okay. I know a lot of people who do that, too. I'm not a tech-savvy sort, so I wouldn't even begin to know how to hook my TV up to my computer and make that work-if I ever get married, hopefully my husband will be knowledgeable about those sorts of things :p.
ReplyDeleteI love buying up DVDs. I'll collect my favorite shows on DVD for as long as I possibly can :). I wouldn't mind watching stuff on iTunes or Hulu...but money can be kind of tight sometimes, so I don't always have the extra money to pay for subscriptions to those sites to watch something. I know Hulu has a free version of its site, and I've watched stuff on there, but obviously the free version won't have everything the paid version will, and that limits my options, too.
1. Jamie: Well, I don't watch Hannibal and I love Jamie. Plus his relationship with Claire is one of the best I've ever seen.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBiLB4JGOCQ
2. Vanessa Ives: I'm sorry Emma, but you are nothing compared to Vanessa. She's a badass woman living in the XIX century (my favorite time period) and I love everything about her.
3. Kieren: I'm mourning In The Flesh right now T.T I love Kieren, he had a great evolution throughout the series and I couldn't be more proud of him.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIfNVUo_g1g
4. Mickey: I'M SO HAPPY HE GOT PAST ROUND 1!!! He's one of my nominees and one of my favorite characters, his development was amazing.
5. Helena: My favorite characters in Orphan Black are Delphine and Cosima, but I love Helena too.
6. Buffy: Vampire vs. vampire slayer, am I the only one who finds this hilarious? XD BTVS is one of the first shows I've ever seen and usually for me tough woman beats bad boy (especially one whose show airs on the CW).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcnBrSD6oDU
7. Peggy: Well, I don't watch Major Crimes and I love Peggy, she rocks!
8. Tyrion: He's one of my favorite characters in GoT and I hate House.
TV Talk Topic:
1. What, if any, web series have you watched? What first attracted you to that series? Which do you recommend? Have you ever watched a webisode of a regular TV series? What makes a webisode work best? Which do you recommend?
I watch Chosen, it's distributed by Crackle, I love the cast, the concept (people are chosen by a mysterious organization known as The Watchers to participate in a lethal game) and I highly recommend it. Does Sanctuary count as a web series? They produced 8 webisodes but then they reshoot the scenes and made it into a tv series. I would recommend it either way because it's an amazing series and the lead character is played by Amanda Tapping (Samantha Carter in Stargate SG-1). I don't think I've watched any other web series and I've never watched any web episode of a regular TV series, although I plan on watching Banshee: Origins (web episodes that explains the past of some characters) and Dark Matter (web episodes that explains what happened before the events of Heroes Reborn).
2. Have you ever tried a show that is only available online like with Netflix or other streaming sites?
Of course, I love Sense8 and that series is perfection to me. I also watch Daredevil, Orange Is The New Black, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Grace & Frankie, Transparent and Mozart In The Jungle. In the future I'll check out House Of Cards, Hemlock Grove, Marco Polo, Bloodline, Bosch, Hand of God and The Man In The High Castle.
3. What are the pros and cons of digital TV for you?
Pros:
-Acting is great (not necessarily better that regular TV because there are great actors/actresses there too, for example Viola Davis, Eva Green)
-It allows shows that couldn't work on a regular network to exist.
-I don't have to wait a week to see the next episode if I like the series a lot and the previous episode left me on the edge of my seat.
Cons:
-Long wait between seasons.
-They mess with my schedule (I stop watching my weekly shows to watch them and then I have a lot to catch up with)
4. Do you prefer when they put all episodes out at once or do you like the ones that come out weekly?
It depends from the show, I've watched Sense8 and OITNB all at once and it took me at least a month to finish Daredevil.
Am I the only one who loved Sense8 from the first moment and thought that Daredevil was slow?
ReplyDeleteI say, old chap, would it be possible to correct the spelling of Mickey's last name? It's Milkovich. :) (Also, damn him for going up against Veronica! My two favorite TV characters of all time!! How to choose??)
ReplyDeleteSorry that I have to say it here but more people are here:.I just watched wayward pines and it was amazing. Next week looks bloody awesome with "Viewer discretion advised"
ReplyDeleteso iv got a random question looking for a new tv show atm should I start watching fringe?
ReplyDeleteYou're definitely not alone.SGU,for one, loved it from the beginning.I enjoyed the show but nothing more than that.Daredevil, one the other hand, completely blew my mind! Different strokes.
ReplyDeleteHannibal, Vanessa, Veronica, Oliver, Buffy, Peggy, and Tyrion.
ReplyDeleteHannibal!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about that. I was doing it quickly. It should be fixed now if you refresh the screen. Thanks for letting me know.
ReplyDeleteShort answer, yes. It is procedural in the first season, but I still loved the different cases. The second season becomes serialized and the mytharc really kicks in gear. Even if you don't watch for anything else, I think everyone should get to see the marvelous John Noble thoroughly become Walter Bishop. He amazes me still.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get caught up on this show. Now more than ever.
ReplyDeleteYou're not! I thought exactly the same. I fell instantly in love with Sense8 and thought Daredevil was boring up until episode 6.
ReplyDeleteYou know me too well :)
ReplyDeleteHoly hell, Oliver v Helena was sooo hard!! I literally sat here deciding for 10 minutes. In the end, I voted Oliver thinking he may be behind in the poll and I guessed correctly. It'll be tight I think, and I'll be happy whomever goes through.
ReplyDeletesweet thanks just what I was looking for will start tonight looking forward to it =D
ReplyDeleteExactly, that's when I started liking Daredevil as well! =D
ReplyDeleteTyrion vs House???? That's cruel :(
ReplyDeleteMajor Crimes is a great show that doesn't get nearly enough attention, nor enough publicity from TNT. It's probably one of the more realistic procedurals, and has great, complex characters.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Peggy Carter and Sharon Raydor are very similar characters. If you like Peggy, check out Major Crimes some time.
ReplyDeleteHannibal, Vanessa, Kieren, Mickey, Helena, Buffy, Peggy, Tyrion.
ReplyDeleteI see a lot of comments saying they don't know Shameless, and if so, I definitely recommend (even though the last season sucked)! Mickey is the best part of it and by far my favorite TV character.
Hahaha the irony of having Buffy against Damon!
ReplyDeleteAs for webseries; a POI writer made his directorial debut with Cam Girls Series. It's short. Quite interesting. 7 episodes so far. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcWplxFmhXU
ReplyDeleteafter seeing tyrion and house in this round, i want their characters to have a sitdown and converse with each other. Hilarity and insults will definitely follow.
ReplyDeleteNot that the movie isn't worth watching...it totally is.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing Dahne as always you're doing an amazing job with the competition I love the chart I can see everything with much more clarity, now down to business with my votes, Emma Swan,Reid, Veronica Mars,Peggy Carter, Hannibal just because, and last but not least Dr. Gregory House, my all time favorite narcissist character on Tv!!
ReplyDeleteJamie Fraser, Emma Swan, Spencer Reid, Oliver Queen and Damon Salvatore
ReplyDeleteHannibal
ReplyDeleteEmma- 😍
Reid
Buffy- ❤️❤️❤️
Peggy- 💗
Helena, Buffy, and Peggy today. Helena is the only one left from my original 4 nominations..Clarke&Ben were so close!!! But I suppose I'm okay with them not making it through because I wouldn't have been able to choose between them in the next round haha. Anyways no offense y'all.. I know Oliver's a superhero, but Helena could take him easy, so I hope she pulls through ;) ... Never seen a web series. Any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteAnother Easy voting day:
ReplyDeleteHannibal
Vanessa
Reid
Veronica
Oliver
Damon (voting my bracket here)
Peggy
Tyrion (voting my bracket here too)
TV Talk Topic:
I've never watched a series that was entirely Webisodes. I've watched webisodes that are companions to regular TV shows like Haven but that's it. However, I am a cord cutter - actually, I don't even own a TV so all my viewing is done online regardless of where it originated.
The most recent "streaming only" series that I watched was Sense8. I loved it but I think if I had to wait a week in between episodes, I would've gotten frustrated and given up after the third episode. Like Daredevil, it really plays as a 12-13 hour movie. However, I think Daredevil could have succeeded in a weekly format, where I really don't see Sense8 doing so well.
I prefer to have all the episodes at once. The most annoying thing about being a cord cutter is that for most shows, if I get behind on the current season, the episodes are no longer to be found online and then I have to wait until they come out on Netflix or Amazon. Which sucks cuz that's usually a week or so before the new season starts and I can't get caught up. (POI is a prime example of this for me).
Please do, it's amazing! XD
ReplyDeleteI think you are going to be our resident expert on streaming shows. I never heard of Bosch, although I like Titus Welliver, or Deadbeat. What is Daybreak about? I watched something called that about a post-apocalyptic world so maybe its been rebooted. I have been pretty amazed by teh high caliber of acting, crew, and production fromwhat I've seen too.
ReplyDeleteI have decent bosses and fabulous bosses but I also had one straight from hell and that's when I was introduced to Gibbs. It was a bad combo of personal life meeting TV,
ReplyDeleteI can see you are readyto give the task your all. :-P I might take you up on the offer. Some of the pictures I have are great until you put them into the poll software and it bloews out the pixels so I might need more of several people.
ReplyDeleteVery cool. I like Patricia Heaton too so I might try to find it. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I look forward to hearing more about Jamie.
ReplyDeleteI wish Buffy were in reruns where I'm at. I agree that the classics are often better than new shows.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. I'll add it to my never ending watchlist.
ReplyDeleteDr. Horrible is my all-time favorite too. it's just so funny.
ReplyDeleteI doubt we will get the same tense excitement in the polls as yesterday but I do hope that a few stay close. It's more fun to watch that way.
ReplyDeleteI wavered on House of Cards before deciding that it was probably not my thing. I did the same with Orange is the New Black. I'm picking when it comes to pay cable shows and that's what I equate streaming with.
ReplyDeleteI think they are very similar even though they are in very different genres. To be honest I think they would be fast friends.
ReplyDeleteI am thrilled about all the kick butt females in here too. For awhile it looked like we might get male heavy in the contest but it's evened itself out. I'm sorry to see Athos go to but he has an excellent chance next year. I thought I was the only one who actually read The Vampire Diaries. They first came out when I was in high school and while I preferred The Secret Circle, I loved basically everything LJ Smith did.
ReplyDeletePlease vote Kieren| Do it for the fans of In the Flesh and for him. #SaveInTheFlesh #InTheFleshMustRise
ReplyDeleteMajor Crimes is currently airing which helps but it also gets a whole lot of page views when there's a review or preview for it. I'm not surprised it won its first round but I will be surprised if Sharon beats Peggy. Either way a strong woman wins.
ReplyDeleteI love the character interactions and i've always thought that her relationship with Rusty makes Sharon unique in the crime procedural category.
ReplyDeleteYou make a good point about series length and marathoning. If there's going to be a bunch, I would rather piecemeal them out too because otherwise it feels overwhelming and I tend to skip it.
ReplyDeleteI am very grateful to everyone who submitted pictures for the characters. They put in a lot of time and effort to make it so this contest could have pictures to begin with. I appreciate them greatly. If you would like to submit a head shot photo of Reid that fits the contest guidelines, then please do so but please respect those took their time to help out so generously.
ReplyDeleteIndeed! I loved the books before the show came to be. I feel like not a lot of us are out there!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for sharing. We love long posts.
ReplyDeleteClarke's poll was the closest in the contest so far and could very likely end up that way too. I've never heard of H+ or Red vs Blue. I am very intrigued by H+'s format and might try that out just to see how that works. Thanks for the info. You make a great point about how streaming shows almost always have a conclusion. That is a real positive. I also like having it available on different devices but only if I can download it. I'm too impatient for buffering. I too miss the idea of talking to fans at the same time because everyone is at about the same place. When someone binges something all at once, it leads to more limited conversation, at least at first, while people are waiting for others to catch up. It also increases the chance of getting spoiled.
I have to say though, that from what I know of you, I don't think you will be able to fully enjoy the season finale. It's one of the most gore things I've seen
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a random Disqus thing. For me it will suddenly not recognize who I am and I have to go out of the post and into the site in another tab to log as myself again. It won't let me do it in the page I am already on. Technology, what can you do?
ReplyDeleteMy notifications haven't been hit or miss - I eventually get them but sometimes it's been as much as a full day delay.
ReplyDeleteI totally misundersttod what you were saying here. I thought you were talking about the Buffy video being funny and I was getting worried about you. But yes, I think it's hilarious that a vampire and the vampire slayer are up against each other. I can't wait to see what the Mickey fans do with this poll. It's actually what I am anticipating most today.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Chosen or Crackle before. I'll have to look them up. I love the idea of webisodes given background. That's a better plan than endless exposition or gaps in the mythology. I wish other shows would do this. Maybe for dropped plot points as well.
How was Mozart in the Jungle? I saw ads for it but didn't check it out. I do plan on trying Grace & Frankie though because of the people talking about it in the Pitch Your Show articles. Also is Marco Polo historical fiction/adventure? I haven't heard of it either. I never thought about how web shows are likely ones that wouldn't work on a network so that is a great pro.
If you do try it, let us know if you like it.
ReplyDeleteSorry the brackets were hard for you today. I've been in your shoes too. I agree that it will be closer than most people thought, but this contest is turning out to eb a free-for-all so who knows what will happen.
ReplyDeleteThe brackets can be a cruel mistress. Sorry the numbers were against you today.
ReplyDeleteIt made me laugh when I was making the polls. If Buffy slays the vampire, I will laugh harder still.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm glad you like the chart. Certain ones work better for different people so the old embedded chart is in the links and the Challonge one is now embedded, if that made any sense.
ReplyDelete
