The company announced Wednesday that it had inked a domestic deal with Netflix to air episodes of its 2015 summer series Zoo, a global thriller based on the James Patterson novel of the same name. The pact is said to be considerably richer than the ones Amazon made for Under the Dome and Extant, which has the e-commerce company paying close to $1 million per episode. In addition to the hefty fee, Netflix has agreed not to air Zoo until after the entire season has concluded on CBS. (With Dome and this summer's Halle Berry vehicle, which Netflix had wanted as well, Amazon is able to put the series on its Prime Instant Video service four days after each episode airs.)

ReplyDeleteI am sooo happy with this, its ratings just became much less relevant now. CBS has some genius sales people, seriously. Between this and what they did with Elementary and The Good Wife, those guys are seriously impressive. I am really glad for Zoo!

ReplyDeleteAh yes I thought of that but I guess I didn't remember to type it (I usually browse this site at work, ha)... And in this case I think it's wise to be a follower. :P Lucifer might not be something they'd do a deal for since it's not theirs, but the others are all 20th Fox right?

All awesome choices! But I don't know if you will be able to watch anything after GOT seriously. That show (and TWD) have an effect on me that make me not able to watch anything else right after because I feel like everything is much less, you know what I mean? And those three final episodes of GOT... you will love them, I am sure!!

ReplyDeleteThe guy may be a jerk, but he has made CBS the most successful network for what.... 7 or 8 of the past 10 years. People here do not seem to like CBS, but it is the most watched and profitable network.... Much of that is his doing.
Now we're just waiting for that season 2 renewal announcement from CBS.... :)

ReplyDeleteCBS has such an impressive skill to sell, it is just outstanding. Their syndication packages and sells to streaming services are just insanely good.

I'm really crossing my fingers for this show. I've been looking forward to it for months. This seems to say they have faith in it. Which is good for me.
ReplyDeleteThose Broke Girls is all WB doing though, CBS does not own it. And that one is less impressive to me actually since 2BG was the first freshman comedy mega hit in a long long time so it is more normal that the market exploded for it imo!
