Ratings will eventually become steady but I think it will suffer a backlash from critics and/or fans, its inevitable. This doesn't mean the ratings will drop (I mean GOT is doing very well despite the backlash this season) but I do expect people to either be disappointed by the new season or just turn on the show.
I think the ratings will go up. Each episode last season continued to rise and the finale got over 17 million viewers(: Can't wait for more Cookie, Jamal and Hakeem!
I didn't watch much of it but it seemed like a glorified soap to me and the quality of a soap is easy to keep up. I'll be really surprised if there isn't a large drop in ratings though.
Personally, my expectations are: - Ratings wise: it will remain a monster of epic proportions but I think it will have a reversed trend of that of Season 1. Start out huge (new series high probably) then slowly coming down to earth somehow, but still on a level way superior than other broadcast shows. In any case, I don't see it closing in on The Walking Dead, who shall remain the true beast - Quality wise: I think it will have a slump. I really had many issues with the finale and I thought they were spiring out of control with too many storylines and burning through plot of several episodes in the same episode, with things not being given the proper development and characters' actions not being well justified. Sure, it was fun to watch, but if they don't ground it more - and I don't think they will - it will slump.
Of course, these are just guesses at some point and could easily be wayoff.
They did too much, too fast because they weren't expecting it to be so successful. It reminds me of both The OC and DH. I really loved the first season until the last three hours, which were still better than most dramas last season. I do believe there is a lot of hubris running around the show that was evident not only in the finale with the "Black Lives Matter" shout out (when the two lead characters have both murdered black men) and in subsequent interviews. I hope they get a grip, but shows like this turn out more like The OC than a GA.
It can go either way I believe...I think soaps tend have difficulties in maintaining quality ( see Revenge). Even Scandal, struggled this season maintaining its omg moments. Hopefully quality remains the same.
I do not see ratings falling all that much, but a show like this that defied everything that happened on network television last season( Empire was just about the only show that grew stronger week to week) is bound to have a little slump. Expectations have been raised for Empire, just like a lot of previous shows that started out so hot, hopefully the producers aren't being hamstrung by execs at FOX. If it keeps on giving out good stories Empire will keep on going strong
The first half will have big ratings no matter the quality. But the ratings for 2016 depend on the quality; if the season is bad, it will start falling.
Odd poll. I think that Empire's ratings will crush the ratings of every other scripted show, but aside for the premiere, it won't set a new ratings high every week. I still expect the show to average a demo rating that's over 6 for the season.
I think the ratings will adjust a bit down, just like any sophomore show, but will plateau at acceptable levels to still be considered a success. I think the quality is at more risk here....
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Quality the same (i hope)
ReplyDeleteRatings will decline a bit ,i mean it can't raise forever, right?
I think the quality will stay the same :) I hope it does! All I need is great scenes, dialogue and storylines and a whole lot of Cookie :)
ReplyDeleteI also think we might see a few more high ratings before it levels off.
Can't say anything about the quality but the ratings will touch new records for sure.
ReplyDeleteIf they stay true to the first years format,it will be fine , but if they go forward with Chris Rock Oprah etc it will just become a gimmicky show

Same quality, big ratings for the premiere and the next few episodes, but then slowly falling to a consistent number.

Yes on both.
ReplyDeleteI see a Desperate Housewives season two-like slump.

ReplyDeleteI thought I was the only one that thought they burned through too much
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few people who thought the same, although I think we are still a clear minority
ReplyDeleteIt's Desperate Housewives Season 2 all over again. It'll have an epic start due to the sheer girth of how big Season 1 was

ReplyDeleteI think the show has already declined creatively. Its premiere should be huge, but after that I think it will be dropping.

ReplyDeleteI don't know how to quality, but I think that ratings will decline.

*nods* That's the most realistic prediction TBH.
