Since Of Kings and Prophets is going to be retooled it might not even air in the fall anymore.. And I can see Dr. Ken being canceled soon. The timeslot is horrible and the trailer was mwah. I will check it out though..
I think supergirl will cancelled after 3-4 episodes, I saw the pilot and it was stupid and boring, I think Melissa is not a good actress enough to hold a show
I can see the formulaic ones (Blindspot, Limitless, Minority Report) growing tiresome quick. Dr. Ken could've been so much better. The main actor deserved better as well. Angel from Hell is my first to go of the season.
I doubt Of Kings And Prophets will make it to air. Dr.Ken and People Are Talking will probably be cancelled quickly, they both got bad days. Minority Report could be in trouble too, it's got some tough competition with The Voice, Scorpion and Dancing With The Stars.
I doubt we'll be seeing Of Kings and Prophets anytime soon, if ever. And CW almost never pulls shows early so crazy ex-girlfriend is probably safe for a while. I really hope blood and oil sticks around. I had a chance to watch the pilot yesterday and it was definitely better than the reputation I feel it's been getting. Hopefully people don't write it off before it even airs! My picks for cancellation are People are Talking and Dr. Ken, both look pretty lame and unfunny so far.
Hard to say. Networks have been really patient the previous year and most of the duds got to air their full orders, except Allegiance and The McCarthys
Well, just a handful of shows were pulled last season although a few were cancelled after a couple of episodes. I guess there will be a few comedies flopping, probably from NBC. Fox and ABC comedies are also an option.
I take it from the question that it means shows that will be pulled very shortly, as in November Sweeps or earlier. My biggest candidate is Angel from Hell. Other potential ones: People Are Talking, Rosewood and Quantico. Maybe The Grinder and Code Black too.
About some of the others I've seen people throwing around: - Of Kings and Prophets is no longer a fall show so it doesn't qualify - I have a hard time seeing Dr. Ken bombing to such a en extent that ABC doesn't even let it air all 13 episodes on Friday, though I suppose it is possible - Marry Me lasted until February, so Heartbreaker should to. NBC probably would rather launch something else out of the voice spring cycle premiere than in November - I am mostly trying to be optimistic for Grandafthered but I liked the trailer so much that I am probably biased here.
My first instinct is to say none of them. Networks are in an age where unless something bombs horribly, they run it for a full 13. They simply do not waste time on pulling shows even when it makes sense to do so.
That being said, my picks for lasting a short period of time are People Are Talking, Dr. Ken, Rosewood, Code Black, and Minority Report. I also see both Blood and Oil and Quantico as the next up in the list of only lasting for a short period of time.
In each case, a network already has soemething ready to go that will likely do better. People Are Talking can be replaced by any Superstore/Crowded Dr. Ken can be replaced by Uncle Buck Rosewood can be replaced by American Idol/The Frankenstein Code Code Black can be replaced by Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders Minority Report can be replaced by Lucifer.
I actually think Blood and Oil could find an audience. That show will be one of the hardest ones for me to predict. Could really go either way. My pick for this particular question is Angel from Hell because CBS just loves to air those Big Bang repeats. Also, Rosewood should probably be in contention for how easy it is to replace it after World Series with Masterchef Jr.
I am glad to hear you say that you liked Blood and Oil. I am very divided about the trailer myself since it really looks like to have a lot of potential if done extremely well but it is hard to envision what it will look like on a weekly basis.
The only thing that saves Angel from Hell from making the list is that if I'm correct, it's starting after football in November. By then, it might not even air.
Yes, likely other shows will be pulled earlier, I agree, but in terms of being cancelled after the shortest amount of episodes aired this might do it. It is very easy for CBS to replace it with TBBT (R), while the others don't have such obvious replacements, except for Rosewood.
Pedowitz didnt say it got a short season and says he see it going for years even without Nina,so I think it did get 22 episodes.Secondly, this poll is for NEW shows not returning shows
Of Kings and Prophets won't even air during fall it appears, but I still voted for ir, just in case. People Are Talking seems like the kind of show that won't make it past episode 3. Undateable will hold Fridays for the whole season though. I also smell that Heartbreaker is going to pull a State of Affairs/Marry Me after The Voice, but I'm not too sure if NBC will pull it
My bad, didn't see NEW..... Pedowitz is blowing smoke just like the rest of them.... How many advertisers will they have when the viewers get to .5 mil.... I guess Mark can finance it himself. lol
About your replacements: - I highly doubt Superstore is wasted on Fridays especially as it is their only single cam and as such I presume they will pair it with Hot and Bothered. Crowded is possible but what would they pair with Coach then? - I think there is an even far easier replacement for Rosewood than the ones you mention (which would be January the earliest) in the form of Masterchef Jr. I expect Fox to announce a late Friday premiere for that show and if Rosewood bombs (or the Tuesday comedies for the matter) they will simply not return post World Series break and Masterchef Jr. will air there until December, much like it happened this year with Utopia - The replacements you mention for Code Black, Minority Report and Quantico are fairly unlikely to air before January, especially The Family as I am sure ABC will only launch whatever replacements it wants on Sunday post Oscars in March and not throw them to the event season wolves.
If OKAP ever makes it to air I doubt it will be pulled cause it will air on summer or late mid-season. The shows I think will be pulled by ep 7 or before: Angel from Hell and Heartbreaker.
It's possible, but I think it will at least equal The McCarthy's ratings. And that was pulled just a few episodes before it finished its run. ABC pulled Selfie and Manhattan Love Story this season so I could easily see them pull the new Friday comedy Dr. Ken. And the Fox comedies, I really don't think they will do well on Tuesdays. Fox might pull them to protect Scream Queens.
I think it depends on who you are for Supergirl. The trailer of Supergirl alone to me looks stupid. However, I am not the demographic it is reaching. I think it will be a huge hit among its target of women as it has that Sex and the City kind of vibe to it.
I think Quantico will be pulled, it's timeslot of 10pm Sunday may kill it.
Dr Ken and People are Talking would be logical choices but they are both airing on Fridays. The networks did not pull a new fall drama off the air this past season until RBS (which aired 10 episodes). My guess is zero shows will be pulled after a few episodes.
ABC will have a bad season next season. Blood and Oil and Quantico are goners, Of Kings and Prophets has been already pulled, Dr. Ken seems like a good fit for Fridays but not a success at all, and the rest of the shows... meh.
The McCarthys had fours things going for it that made it have better odds imo: - Two and a Half Men was still stronger than Mom is - The McCarthys is way more on brand for the CBS audience than Angel from Hell is, especially with the fact that it was a multicam - The schedule this year is even worse! The show is premiering a week later AND it will air on Thanskgiving eve an episode sooner AND then has to be preempted for a week only to then come back in December. That is such a brutal schedule to endure that I really don't see why CBS would have it back in January. - There were no replacements last year. The Millers bombed so Mike and Molly had to be called to Monday duty and then Men was already going to end and create a hole in the schedule. Only TOC was backup by then. So it is normal that they were more willing to tolerate the low ratings as opposed to this year in which they have a crazy amount of 3 veterans as backup.
Dr. Ken is possible too yes and like you said, ABC doesn't mind to pull stuff. But I am still not sure they would bother to pull it before Christmas unless it really is too low. Because I think last year pulling Manhattan was more about protecting Shield than anything else and Shark Tank is pretty much lead in resilient at this point. But yeah it's possible though I say less likely.
I think I am too biased with the FOX comedies to say anything. I really wish Grandfathered makes it. But yes, I believe Masterchef Jr. will air at 8 Tuesday or Wednesday in November and not on Friday. I guess it is a race between Rosewood and the Tuesday comedies to see what flops first.
I think I may be the only one that believes that Quantico will be able to survive. Yes, it has a less than desirable spot on the schedule, but I think any show that has the potential to do well, will, if they have the backing that is needed. I know there is a lot of talk about how many shows have failed in that time slot, and that it is a death spot for ABC shows. However, things change and will change with the right show. Is Quantico that show? That has yet to be determined, but it's probably the best show to try and revive ABC's Sunday spot. For example, NBC use to have a very lucrative and popular Thursday lineup, however, look at it now, it's not doing so well. I think the same thing can happen with a time slot that is currently not doing well, but can be turned around with the right show. Just my opinion. :)
I agree with it getting 0.5-0.6 this spring & Nina leaving & Paul,Ian saying they may leave after next season,s7 should've been announced as the last.But...
Had to pick Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Of Kings and Prophets (retooling and recasting is a bad sign. Seems as though the network execs realize there's a problem)
Does the 'death time slot' argument really hold up anymore? Fewer and fewer people watch live these days. If the time a show is broadcast is a bad time for the audience, the audience now records it and watches at a convenient time. Even, unfortunately for the ratings, if that's 3 weeks after it airs.
And the list doesn't mention Mr. Robot. Because seriously, when hasn't a series with Christian Slater ever tanked or been pulled prematurely. I like the actor, and thought some of the series were good - But he has luck that makes mine feel like a winning streak..lol.
I agree even in hindsight, scandal really wasn't doing very well in that ten pm slot, and people thoughts Thursdays at ten is a bad timeslot if not for a grey's anatomy lead-in, but scandal both struggled, and then got better in the time slot, then black box fell apart in the timeslot, and then how to get away with murder did well.
I think The Muppets will be a big success and that The Family and The Catch will probably do rather well too. I then don't think it is impossible that one of the dark horses like Blood and Oil, Quantico or Wicked City end up working too, so I don't think they necessarily will have a bad season.
I am still not 100% convinced they won't reverse the move. We'll see. I think it is a possible with end up with Blood and Oil-Secrets and Lies on Sunday and Shield-Quantico on Tuesday. If not, then I guess it will be Blood and Oil-Quantico and Shield-New Marvel Project.
I will choose 1 for each network CBS: Honestly all fall shows have a good lead-in, Supergirl has a lot of buzz so its capable of self starting, maybe Code Black, but what I have seen in STVreviews its a good show so it has some chance ABC: Dr.Ken looks like a horrible comedy and its my definite choice for pulling to be replaced by Uncle Buck NBC:Best Time Ever has a chance to bomb badly and People are Talking is getting pulled. FOX:The Grinder/Grandfathered, one of these is going pulled, horrible timeslot, it will be replaced with LMOE and Bordertown goes to LMOE slot CW: Crazy Ex Girlfriend, but honestly if JTV made it, why wouldnt this too,so im on fence about this. it could be a critical darling.
I can see Angel From Hell making it to Episode 3 (November 19th if it premieres on November 5th) and then it getting pulled before either 2 Broke Girls or Mike & Molly get the call up start in January.
one upon a time because it has ruined its characters and became all about the plot. backstories and rules no long apply and besides ruining Rumple and Rumbelle they have made Hook boring and dull as hell, and Emma weak. At least I hope they cancel it. I doubt A/E will fix it and bring back the captivating characters os S1-s3
I podcasted about the pilot of Supergirl with 3 other women and we all thought the pilot was just meh. I don't think this will come down to gender but how much they can retool the series from the pilot.
I'm pretty sure it did and I voted that it would fail. After getting both Reign and Jane the Virgin wrong, I'm not betting against My Crazy Ex this year.
I saw the pilot and it felt like a network show to me. There was nothing about it that felt like it belonged on cable or was too ambitious. I think it felt like a good fit for abc.
I'm voting People are Talking, Dr. Ken. Oil, Rosewood, and Grinder although I don't expect mucht o be pulled right away. I would expect that most of these will get their full initial order. After all, we got to see all the episodes of Forever and it was destined to be cancelled fairly early. I don't think networks cancel poor rated shows as quickly as they used to. No way My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gets pulled within a few episodes on the CW. They don't pull shows early.
I want to say that I have learned my lesson but the thing is that there is an important variable at stake. For the past two seasons, the CW has had a Netflix deal in place that by itself was financing the shows entirely or close to it which made the first run ratings sort of irrelevant. Since that deal was made, only 1 show with two seasons was cancelled in the form of The Carrie Diaries, but that was an effectively first season show with only 26 episodes. That deal made it so that they had an incentive to keep carrying product instead of developing new. However, the deal is now over, pending a renewal, which means new shows won't have the benefits from it, unless a renewal is made. That could significantly complicate things for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (or Containment by the way). We'll see - I do expect a new deal to be signed eventually though; if that happens, then I am with you and won't bet against Crazy after getting Reign and the Virgin wrong too.
Yeah, it was definitely better than I thought but I'm not really sure about what it will look like going forward either. So much happens and gets resolved within the first episode that I'm not sure how much they'll be able to get out of the story. It felt like the main things that happened in the first episode could have easily been drawn out over the first few episodes.
I have to agree that ABC will not have a lot of success with their new fall shows. Outside of The Muppets, I think that Dr. Ken, Quantico, and Blood and Oil will fizzle out fast.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Since Of Kings and Prophets is going to be retooled it might not even air in the fall anymore..
ReplyDeleteAnd I can see Dr. Ken being canceled soon. The timeslot is horrible and the trailer was mwah. I will check it out though..
I think supergirl will cancelled after 3-4 episodes, I saw the pilot and it was stupid and boring, I think Melissa is not a good actress enough to hold a show
ReplyDeleteWith the limited series they will air them all so Heroes Reborn and Muppets are safe.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Of Kings and Prophets will even make it to air.
So my picks are People Are Talking and Best Time Ever.
I genuinely hope oil survives.
ReplyDeleteOf Kings and Prophets
ReplyDeletePeople Are Talking
Best Time Ever
I can see the formulaic ones (Blindspot, Limitless, Minority Report) growing tiresome quick. Dr. Ken could've been so much better. The main actor deserved better as well. Angel from Hell is my first to go of the season.
ReplyDeleteMinority Report seems like a goner. Heroes Reborn as well, if it's not already a limited series.
ReplyDeleteI doubt Of Kings And Prophets will make it to air.
ReplyDeleteDr.Ken and People Are Talking will probably be cancelled quickly, they both got bad days.
Minority Report could be in trouble too, it's got some tough competition with The Voice, Scorpion and Dancing With The Stars.
I think Lucifer will get canceled, because it doesnt seem like a very good adaptation of the comic.
ReplyDeleteI doubt we'll be seeing Of Kings and Prophets anytime soon, if ever.
ReplyDeleteBlood and Oil because it's a September premiere while Of Kings and Prophets was delayed and People are Yelling and Heartbreaker are late premieres.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Quantico as well now that has gone to Sundays.
Hard to say. Networks have been really patient the previous year and most of the duds got to air their full orders, except Allegiance and The McCarthys
ReplyDeleteKings And Prophets

ReplyDeleteugh The Whispers won't last for sure.
ReplyDeleteand yet the Arrow went on and the initial acting wasn't that impressive.
ReplyDeletePeople Are Taking,,Of Kings & Prophets,Heartbreaker,Rosewood & Best Time Ever.
ReplyDeleteLOL this reminds me of last night :D
ReplyDeleteI say of kings and prophets and dead people are talking
Grandfathered sounds awful. I think they need to stop trying to make John Stamos happen.
ReplyDeleteI take it from the question that it means shows that will be pulled very shortly, as in November Sweeps or earlier. My biggest candidate is Angel from Hell. Other potential ones: People Are Talking, Rosewood and Quantico. Maybe The Grinder and Code Black too.

To each his own. It was by far my favorite comedy trailer and one of my favorite trailers overall.
ReplyDeleteThe Whispers is not even a fall show. And it premiered pretty well on Monday
ReplyDeleteI think Angel from Hell is more likely to be pulled than the ABC and FOX comedies.
ReplyDeleteMy first instinct is to say none of them. Networks are in an age where unless something bombs horribly, they run it for a full 13. They simply do not waste time on pulling shows even when it makes sense to do so.

People Are Talking can be replaced by any Superstore/Crowded
Dr. Ken can be replaced by Uncle Buck

Minority Report can be replaced by Lucifer.

ReplyDeleteOil - too amibtious for ABC.
ReplyDeleteHow so?
ReplyDeleteIf Kings and Prophets doesn't make it to air, does it count? I'm calling People are Talking and K&P.

ReplyDeleteHaha, I didn't even remember it wasn't for Fall.
ReplyDeleteSuper Girl and The Whispers
ReplyDeleteAnd Marry Me and About A Boy.
ReplyDeleteThe Whispers is a summer show. And I highly, highly doubt Supergirl will be cancelled after a few episodes.
ReplyDeleteIf OKAP ever makes it to air I doubt it will be pulled cause it will air on summer or late mid-season. The shows I think will be pulled by ep 7 or before: Angel from Hell and Heartbreaker.

ReplyDeleteForgot those 3, but only talking about freshmen.
ReplyDeleteThe McCarthys had fours things going for it that made it have better odds imo:
ReplyDelete- Two and a Half Men was still stronger than Mom is
- The McCarthys is way more on brand for the CBS audience than Angel from Hell is, especially with the fact that it was a multicam
- The schedule this year is even worse!

ReplyDeleteHow is quantico a goner?!
ReplyDeleteAnd the list doesn't mention Mr. Robot. Because seriously, when hasn't a series with Christian Slater ever tanked or been pulled prematurely. I like the actor, and thought some of the series were good - But he has luck that makes mine feel like a winning streak..lol.
ReplyDeleteSundays at 10pm is a death sentence.
ReplyDeleteJane The Virgin would have won this poll a year ago.
ReplyDeleteI agree even in hindsight, scandal really wasn't doing very well in that ten pm slot, and people thoughts Thursdays at ten is a bad timeslot if not for a grey's anatomy lead-in, but scandal both struggled, and then got better in the time slot, then black box fell apart in the timeslot, and then how to get away with murder did well.
ReplyDeleteI think The Muppets will be a big success and that The Family and The Catch will probably do rather well too. ReplyDeleteI will choose 1 for each network
ReplyDeleteCBS: Honestly all fall shows have a good lead-in, Supergirl has a lot of buzz so its capable of self starting, maybe Code Black, but what I have seen in STVreviews its a good show so it has some chance
ABC: Dr.Ken looks like a horrible comedy and its my definite choice for pulling to be replaced by Uncle Buck
NBC:Best Time Ever has a chance to bomb badly and People are Talking is getting pulled.
FOX:The Grinder/Grandfathered, one of these is going pulled, horrible timeslot, it will be replaced with LMOE and Bordertown goes to LMOE slot
CW: Crazy Ex Girlfriend, but honestly if JTV made it, why wouldnt this too,so im on fence about this. it could be a critical darling.
Online buzz is a really bad indicator though. If you go by that measure, the CW shows would be the highest rated.
ReplyDeleteThey tend to not list cable shows.
ReplyDeleteI can see Angel From Hell making it to Episode 3 (November 19th if it premieres on November 5th) and then it getting pulled before either 2 Broke Girls or Mike & Molly get the call up start in January.

ReplyDeleteABC is going to have a disater on Sunday nights but I think the rest is OK
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was definitely better than I thought but I'm not really sure about what it will look like going forward either. So much happens and gets resolved within the first episode that I'm not sure how much they'll be able to get out of the story. It felt like the main things that happened in the first episode could have easily been drawn out over the first few episodes.
ReplyDeletewell I'm not in the US so I'm not familiar with when what is. And plenty of shit premieres pretty well. Doesn't mean it'll last. This show won't.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree that ABC will not have a lot of success with their new fall shows. Outside of The Muppets, I think that Dr. Ken, Quantico, and Blood and Oil will fizzle out fast.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sold as you are on The Catch. The concept does not seem like an easy sell, even with Shonda's name attached.
ReplyDeleteI expect that the Netflix deal will continue. CW shows seems to do fairly well on Netflix so it looks like a win-win from this side of the glass.
