TVD for sure. Even though it'll be interesting to see how they'll play it out without Elena (Nina WAS one of the main trio from TVD) but I honestly don't think the ratings will improve...
The Middle and Modern Family. At least I hope so, cause then they can end when the quality is still quite high. If you stretch a show too long it'll get harder to watch and I hope that that won't happen for these shows..
Regarding Bones and Grey's Anatomy: People have been saying for years that this is the final season and yet both are still on the air. I think Bones will be the first one to go, possibly this season will really be its final. Grey's depends on how far the ratings will fall after Dempsey's departure. I think it could have a 13th season. Castle: I think this will be its last season with the cast signing only one-year deals. The Vampire Diaries: I can see this getting renewed for an eighth season. Supernatural: Idem, I think this will get a season 12. Law and Order: SVU: At this point I think it could equal or surpass the mothership. I'm not sure if it will, but I don't think it will be cancelled after its upcoming 17th season. The Middle: Not sure why this show is an option as I don't think it will end within the next two seasons. NCIS: Its ratings are are at its lowest, but it's still one of the top-rated shows. This will easily get 15 seasons and maybe more.
Kind of missing on the list is Criminal Minds, which I think will be renewed.
it's hard to tell because it depends on ratings of course but also on contracts. I voted the middle : it'll have 2 more seasons i think. ratings will still be decent but abc will bet on new/younger comedies (black-ish, fresh off, goldbergs) or abc studios productions.
I actually thought Modern Family's worst seasons are Season 3 and 4, and it has been pretty good for seasons 5 and 6. The writers are able to rebound from the lack of ideas in Season 3 and 4, and that is hard to do. Out of all the comedies I watch including New Girl, The Mindy Project, 2 Broke Girls, Veep, Silicon Valley, Black-ish, Fresh Off The Boat, Mom, The Big Bang Theory and The Goldbergs, I put it in my top 3 together with Veep and Mom.
I feel the same about The Middle. I thought Modern Family's 6th season was weaker than other seasons, but still funny. The Middle however was very consistent and I enjoyed every episode of season 6. Kudos to the writers of both shows. They still keep it interesting, even after 6 seasons, and I'm looking forward to next season!
The Vampire Diaries, Bones and Castle Other Shows (not on the list): Criminal Minds NCIS and TBBT will continue for a long time yet and I'm not sure about Elementary (because of syndication. CBS wants the money so the show could continue a while longer).
Ending this upcoming season: TVD, Bones and Castle. + Nashville and some CBS shows. Ending in 2 seasons: Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, The Middle (maybe). + OUAT and others
TVD will probably end season after next. They are going to try to make it work without Elena. I don't think that will work. It was also a big enough show for them and they make money on syndication, so they are going to give it a send off season. With Stana Katic having only signed for one more season, I expect this season to be Castle's last. Bones isn't doing great ratings wise, but, except of Empire, that describes all of Fox's shows, so Bones may squeak by as long as they can keep the actors. I don't think Grey's Anatomy is doing that poorly in the ratings, although maybe Derek leaving will have major repercussions. OTOH it has survived cast changes before, so who knows? L&O SVU just keeps trucking on and NBC has other shows in worse trouble, plus they have trimmed the cast and trimmed expenses could go either way. Supernatural is fading, but is still the third or forth most watched show on the CW. Here again actors are the big reason for the show to stop. The Js seem pretty committed to the show, so I think it will go for more years. I don't think the CW will want to cancel 2 flagship shows in one year, so I think SPN will go one more year than TVD. NCIS may run forever. I have no feeling on The Middle.
TVD for sure. Bones and Castle are very likely. Supernatural will depend on its ability to keep its ratings right where they are and if the leads are willing to stay
I agree, it will be VERY interesting to see how things play out without Elena. Just a thought: the show might (will) be better without her. If TPTB are smart they will take advantage of this opportunity to take the show in fresh and new directions. They have plenty of acting talent, good characters, and potential interesting story lines for Season 7 involving Mama Salvatore and The Heretics (I wish that didn't sound like a rock group but, oh well), Enzo (underused but still promising), Steroline, and MOST importantly Stefan and Damon. I think the brothers' relationship is a gold mine waiting to be further explored. I will never stop saying it: this show is about Stefan and Damon and their love for each other. No offense intended to Elena/Nina fans, but IMHO Elena is not indispensable.
Bonnie is now, finally, a really interesting person because of what she's been through. There's a lot in her to explore. But I don't agree that someone has to "replace" Elena.
Castle, TVD, Bones, could possibly end this season The Middle will have at least 1-2 more (depending on cost) SVU will depend on cost and ratings Supernatural I see ending in 2 seasons
Ellen will exit Grey's in a year or two, Shonda will try to push it further but don't think it will go like that. VD will also most likely end in 2 years, but wouldn't be surprised if Julie tries to spin off something out of them. Like The Pack, The American Pack or American Witches Don't think Castle will go past S08, I want Stana and Nathan in a show I also can enjoy. SPN is a mystery to me. The ratings started to shake this year, more than expected. But the show has such a strong fanbase. But think 2 more seasons is a solid prospect when we look ahead.
I think all of these shows will end in the next two years except NCIS and maybe the Middle. The Middle still has solid ratings and is still very enjoyable (it's my favorite comedy on tv right now), but it just depends on if everyone wants to continue or not. Grey's needs to end. I think Vampire Diaries will end after season 8. I couldn't see Bones continuing after season 11, either. SVU is very expensive to produce, but since Dick Wolf is all NBC has, I guess it could go on another few years if Mariska wants to stay, but honestly, it should probably go, too.
Hmmm, intersting poll. Let's see what the crystal ball says...
Even though I only watch one of them (Castle), my picks were. TVD, Castle, Bones and Supernatural
- TVD (When your leads start leaving, it's time to wrap it up)
- Castle (Considering how long it took to get the leads to sign 1 year deals for season 8. No way they're doing that again in a year)
- Bones (Ratings are slipping are they not? Been more than half a decade since I last watched the show)
- Supernatural (A shadow of it's former glory plot & writing-wise, but still decent ratings. Totally dependant on the leads willingness to keep going. but they've beaten Smallville's record for longest running show on The WB/CW and can retire honorably with that.)
I think he will be bad in Season 7, but in the cause of good, if that makes sense. Some people will need to be killed and Damon's the only one with the b**** to do it.
Seeing as how Julie confirmed Lily,Damon's mother will be the big bad next season, will he have enough b**** to do what's necessary when the time comes?
Bones, Castle and The Vampire Diaries are my picks. I don't know why Grey's Anatomy keeps being talked about on these polls. It is still such a big hit and certainly way far from the marginal or below that territory in which shows like Castle and Bones are now.
I don't want NCIS to end, but I think it will to allow the cast to move on to other things. I agree that Criminal Minds should have been included, I think it is getting a bit long in the tooth.
Her contract is up this year, I assume she will prolong it one more year, maybe 2. That is my pov at least. Don't think she has much desire to push forward. Being a lead for 12 years is tough and I'm sure she want to spend more time with her family. So I see her do maybe a year or two, just to cozy herself in a bit more.
I voted for Law & Order SVU, don't get me wrong I've watched this franchise since the beginning I just think one or two more seasons it's run it's course, Castle another favorite I want it to end on a high note not over staying leave with an ending not overstaying Bones is another show I've always loved for the same reason, Grey's Anatomy just leave I still watch it but I'm a bit salty with the way Derrick's demise was handled...
You mean, could he kill his mother. Wow. But yeah, I think there is one, and only one, condition under which Damon would do it. If it came down to Lily's life or Stefan's, and there were no other alternative, he would sacrifice his mother before he would let his brother die. Living with that is another story. And then there's the question, how would Stefan react?
Definitely Bones and Castle, not just because of ratings, because actors are probably ready to move on. Depending on how Greys can come back from Patrick Dempsey's departure I do not give it more than another year as well. NCIS will go on as long as CBS wants it to
Most likely, because despite ratings decline that is not why they got renewed. Bones makes them money in syndication. FOX will let Bones go when the actors are ready, and I suspect this will be it for them.
CW made a very smart move pairing TVD with the Originals next season. I don't think the ratings will be hurt too much thanks to that. quality wise TVD has become garbage, but if they are serious about changing the direction of the show, I think the TVD-verse is still interesting enough that they can turn it around. Julie Plec promised next season will be full of mythology mystery and suspense, if that pans out and they kill Steroline and Bamon romance TVD could be awesome again.
I'm hoping for TVD and Supernatural, both should've ended a couple of seasons ago. And Castle and Bones seem likely candidates too. I hope they take this season to bring everything to a close.
Castle and Bones, with the cast contract negotiations this year I thought they wouldn't even return in the fall for their 8th and 11th seasons, respectively, and those will probably be their last seasons; and Criminal Minds, which should be on this list too, because even though it's one of the best live+7 performers, CBS' highest rated drama in that category, its rating is still falling when it airs live and it belongs to ABC not CBS and it probably isn't cheap to make.
Sorry, I think you're going to have to live with Steroline, but Bamon is unlikely to happen. Season 7's "mythology, mystery and suspense" can withstand one romance. Now that the love triangle is over and Delena became endgame I fully expect new directions and much awesomeness from TVD.
A part of me doesn't want it to end either. On the other hand, I found only 5-6 episodes to be good out of 22-23 (recent seasons), maybe the show would be better with only 13 eps, they could tell a better story without much filler.
Bonnie's been a witch since Season 1 and there's been plenty of "witchy woo" from her and other witches over the past 6 seasons, but there's no question that TVD is still a vampire show. I don't expect the focus of the show to shift to Bonnie. I don't think Bonnie, or Caroline for that matter, needs to "lead". Yes, Elena was the main female, but that's over and it's time for change.
I agree - tougher even than deciding to save Bonnie and give up Elena for decades. I think Lily's character is fascinating on a number of levels and I'm also looking forward to her story line. I did read that she will try to pit Stefan and Damon against each other. If Lily does exit mid-season I wonder who the next big bad will be?
As I've already told you, I have faith in your predictions now after you called that "sleeping curse" thing last season! I like the "new mythology" idea. S***, it's only June 1st.
Well, somebody has got to lead it and I hope they aren't planning on Sarah Salvatore. I've never liked her. And much as I love Damon, I really don't want a full season of him brooding over Elena. Then we have Alaric who will be grieving all season.
well I'm not going to. if they bring back Steroline next season I have no intention of watching. the only way this show is going to survive is to move away from these pathetic romance plots.
I'm sure she will be a big bad in s7, but how long will she stay on the show for? Will she be a big bad throughout the season? My guess is she'll only stay on the show for 5-6 eps, when the new big bad will be introduced. Another henstic, or someone from either of the brothers past?
I think so too. She'll survive for 6-7 episodes max.The main big bad will be introduced later-I have no idea who/what that will be for now.Too early to tell.Let's see the new characters casting first-Especially the ones playing Heretics.
Jp has already said there was a time jump leading into s7 so that they don't have to spend time watching damon sulking over elena, though I'm sure her name will come up often.
IMO the only "leading" Elena did in six seasons was lead the Salvatore brothers on a merry chase until Damon finally caught her. I think Caroline and Bonnie can and will each stand on their own very well. As for Sarah Salvatore, I think you can count her among the permanently missing, proving yet again that you don't have to die on TVD to disappear. I love Damon too and I'm sure Ian wants to do more than brood over Elena all season which would be very boring, so I doubt JP will make him do that. Well, maybe just a little when he's not busy dealing with his insane mother and the apparent destruction of Mystic Falls, as well as his love-sick little brother. As for Alaric, the poor man has good reason to grieve but I hope Damon gets him back into action.
You and I are definitely on the same wave length, Debbie. You hit it right on the head when you said we don't need an Elena 2.0! We also don't need Elena to be an invisible character in Season 7 - that would be a disaster for sure. The two words I never want to hear again with reference to TVD are "triangle" and "doppelganger". The two words I do want to hear are "move on". You're right, there are so many directions the show can go in now. You said, "Don't screw this up." To that I say amen.
now that Elena is gone I see no problem with bringing back some doppelganger myth. Stefan has been sidelined for years in favor of Damon, it's about time they give him a story of his own.
Well Sol, I'm really sorry you're already planning not to watch Season 7 if Steroline is a part of it. You're entitled to your opinion but you know, not everyone thinks a romantic plot is "pathetic" or ruins a show. Besides, there is going to be SO much more than Steroline happening next season. One little romantic side plot is all it's going to be. Won't you at least try to keep an open mind and reserve judgement until the season starts? I'd hate to have you miss some good TV!
If I thought Stefan had been "sidelined ...in favor of Damon" (which I don't; I think Stef had had his share of moments in the sun, although please feel free to disagree), I wouldn't think dragging out a story line that's about as done to death as The Cure would do him any good.
sorry but Stefan is my favorite character and in the last few years he's become a B character. he barely had one word with Silas, never met Wes, never met Markos, never met Kai, never met Sarah, he's not really buds with Ric or Enzo or Matt, and didn't even have one scene with Bonnie in s6. Steroline is a repulsive all consuming relationship for Stefan, if they continue to pair him with Caroline there's no chance season 7 will be any different for him and that's unacceptable for me.
I'm the biggest delena fan so it's so weird coming from me. But I think they took Delena as far as they good, it's time we got all that Defan has to offer.
I don't know if we need to hear the word "doppelganger" for stefan to get a good storyline. He was sidelined not because of damon but because the focus was on romance, and due to popularity Delena seemed to be at the forfront. Now, without elena, romance I doubt will be the focus, but mythology and the defan family.
Me too! But remember, Delena was endgame after all! And there was nowhere else to go, you're right. Once Nina threw in the towel the romance had to be tied up in a bow and ended - not that I liked that ending. Truthfully though, I think we Delena fans got more than we would have if Nina had stayed to the end. I always thought Elena wouldn't end up with either of the Salvatore brothers, that she'd leave Mystic Falls and go her own way to be her own woman. But I'm more than ready for Defan now!
I understand how it can be with favorite characters; I've had my share of them and I can feel very protective of them and how they are treated.
But please correct me if my memory is faulty: Did Damon ever meet Silas or Marcos? He certainly never met Sarah because Stefan hid her existence from him. And it's true that Stefan isn't buds with Ric or Enzo. Ric I could see but Damon and Ric bonded first - alcohol helped, admittedly. Enzo, well their relationship has been negative all along. Besides, Enzo and Damon have history. I can't see how Stefan could ever be buds with Matt at all. I see Stefan as a loner, a sensitive guy, a good man who struggles with the darkness within him. (Don't we all?) He protects himself around others and doesn't form friendships easily. He did form one, though, which you've chosen to ignore: he was friends with Caroline since he helped her when she was a newbie vampire, long before romance "reared its ugly head" as you would most likely say. Bonnie was in the 1994 prison world for a good part of the season and after she got back she had serious emotional problems (PTSD) which led her to isolate. Stefan had some scenes with her, but not alone, at the end of the season. I don't know what to say about Stefan's relationship with Caroline being "repulsive" except that I would use any other word but that to describe it. I don't see it as an all consuming relationship for him at this point; I see nothing to base that on. I do see a man who's hesitant to be vulnerable, to give his heart again, but who's trying, however haltingly, to reach for some happiness. I think you're assuming that Stefan's relationship with Caroline will be all he has to do in Season 7. At this point, we simply cannot know that.
you're right. but you know the season practically ended with Damon choosing to say goodbye to his brother forever and live a human life with Elena. shifting the focus to Stefan and Damon certainly won't be easy. Damon basically chose his path and we know what his endgame is. its time for Stefan to explore what he wants for his future, and being a doppelganger is part of his identity it might lead him to a new path because right now he's pretty much aimless hates being a vampire and moves from one dead end job to another. a romance with Caroline certainly won't last him an eternity. he needs some supernatural purpose if he's going to survive eternity without Damon.
of course he did. they were the main villains and Damon always deals with the main villains. Stefan on the other hand in the last two seasons hadn't even met the villains.
you should check the wiki, but practically every episode in the first half of season 5 had Damon and Silas, first trying to get him to give Stefan back and then get him to resurrect Bonnie. as for Markos, he told the story of the travelers to Damon when he went to him to get Stefan and Elena's visions to stop. and later Damon stole the hosts for his travelers trying to kill him.
Vampire Diaries lost its lead and they already had down to the wire negotiating for both Castle and Bones so I would say they probably go unless that negotiating was for more than 2 years. Grey's Anatomy has the luxury of a rotating cast, similar to ER before it, so it could stay on the air until ABC is less enthralled by Shonda. I could see SPN ending in year 13 and that would be kind of poetic. It's going to depend on when Jensen and Jared want to call it quits. I see them definitely staying for season 12 though.
I'm convinced there will be an NCIS and Law & Order show on at least until I'm dead, so they feel safe to me. I'm not sure about The Middle though. It continually flies below the radar but has good ratings. I think it's fate depends on where ABC puts it on the schedule to be honest. Still it will be The Simpsons that will outlast us all. Humans will become extinct, animals will take over the world, but Bart Simpson will remain the same age as he ever was, churning out new episodes for the lions and chimps.
I agree with much of this and for many of the same reasons. Bones and Castle have their contract negotiations working against them. They will price themselves out of a job, which may be the whole point. I think Grey's stays for awhile because they have such a large cast that they can do an ER like when Clooney left. I'm torn by The Vampire Diaries, mostly because I don't know where those contracts stand. I've heard Ian wants out too and that would be the end of it in my opinion.
I agree SPN will go at least until 12 seasons since that depends largely on Jensen and Jared. I could really see them making season 13 the last. NCIS and Criminal Minds have such sweet syndication that they could float even if the ratings collapsed and neither are anywhere near that point. I put SVU in that category too. I could see these shows going another half decade at minimum.
Did The Vampire Diaries get syndicated then? Good for them. I agree that NCIS will run until TV dies and Supernatural definitely depends on Jensen and Jared (and the CW not being cancelled).
I honestly don't know if it has been syndicated. I just think it's more likely to be syndicated if they know it has an actual end as opposed to just disappearing with cliffhangers in place.
Bones and Supernatural.(I'm hoping) They got my votes. And idt TVD will make it to season 8. I'd be really surprised if it were. It all depends on how season 7 will go. But i think it's done. Bones and Supernatural definitely needs to end as well. When it happens, iI will be prepared to say goodbye to all three of my shows.
Actually I thought 7th Heaven was the longest running show on the WB/CW with 243 episodes. Supernatural needs to last 2 more seasons to be crowned king.
Do you know which is ABC's longest running show? Whichever it is, it ran for 12 seasons right? I used to wish for Grey's to last 16 seasons in order to beat ER, but I've changed my mind and I just want it to be ABC's longest running show. As long as it's good …:)
I agree. Stefan's character has been severally sidelined the last couple of seasons because of the writers obsession with Damon and Delena. It also doesn't help that the show is being led by a writer who even stated herself that she doesn't know how to write for Stefan. I would love to see Stefan get his own storyline or for Defan's relationship to make a comeback. But apart from Steroline, I doubt Stefan's going to get that. As for Stefan, I have strong feeling that it's just going to be another season of Stefan playing side kick and cheerleader to Damon. Sadly, I've lost all of my faith in these writers. :(
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I've been wondering about the future of Elementary and how many more seasons it'll do. You're right, I suppose it depends on other shows and how good/bad the pilot shows will go.
I too think TVD depends on the other two leads. I believe they both signed a one-year contract so it they want out after season 7, they can. I agree one of them leaving will likely be the end.
7th Heaven ran for 243 episodes??? Yikes. I only remember an interview saying Supernatural wanted to beat Smallville's 10 seasons. But if 2 more is all it takes to be crowned 'longest running show' of the CW I could see them sticking it out.
I voted for Castle (there are too many BTS changes going on in the past few seasons, so while it might be the networks "well done ticket!", I feel like we have 1 or 2 more seasons and that is all. (including Kate either choosing becoming The Captain or The Senator, plus Caskett baby - those will be the plots for the season(s)). Also voted for Bones as I do not see it going on much longer, either. I feel like it became a show about characters lives ages ago, instead of being mainly crime solving story about a scientist / her team, who can find answers from just bones. But since the show seems to be popular, I guess that works for americans.
What I wish would end, but know it will not ... anytime soon (even if they have to re-cast roles) is NCIS. The main show, I mean. This show, too, became the characters personal story, and revenge/family plots re-circling show ages ago, so the crimes seem like a B-plot, and almost none of the cases are not related to the characters families and friends. But I guess that works for americans...
I have never watched the other shows listed, so I do not know how to comment. But from articles I would say it is possible also that Vampire Diaries and Law & Order: SVU will end their runs soon.THe other shows listed seem to have mega fanbases based on online comments, so I do not think for sure they will end soon. Also greys Anatomy, like many hospital shows probably goes on for at least 15 seasons.
friend of mine was in Brussels, a private meet & green conversation... she heard that Ian said, he will quit after season 7.. If you don't believe, you'll see anyway
Thanks. I remember some parts of TVD so well I can quote the dialog, but other parts not at all, obviously. 132 is a lot of episodes to remember. Actually 133, counting The Originals "pilot" episode.
I'm also hoping Defan has an important story line next season and I feel some confidence that it will happen. The stage has been set for it. IMO Stefan and Damon have the most important relationship in this series and I want to see that relationship in much more depth. We've got one, maybe two if we're lucky, seasons left. It's time.
You need 100 episodes in the can to be eligible for syndication. TVD has 133 episodes and counting. I suppose the next move is to decide when to sell the syndication rights and see who will pay the highest fee. Some long-running shows sell syndication rights while they are still in first run, while others wait until they've wrapped the series. In any case, I can't imagine this source of profit would be passed on. Today's contracts probably give the actors a cut of those profits too and they would also be behind syndication because it continues to give them exposure while they look for other work. There's nothing like a successful long-running TV show to jump start and boost a career. Like Nina Dobrev - she's just the first to willingly leave for hopefully greener pastures. Even Chris Wood has gotten a new series already.
Tricky... But I voted for: - TVD - The MIddle - Bones - SPN and - Castle But they all could go either way to be honest... except for The Middle... that one I think is pretty much done for.
I do think Grey's, NCIS and SVU are way past their prime and should probably have already had their curtain call, but since they have passed that mark, I really don't see them ending anytime soon.
MHO is that because of Nina's departure (sorry Nina fans) TVD has been given a great opportunity to give the show new life and go on at least to Season 8, IF they get some decent writers. Nina's leaving has left the field wide open for fresher, newer story lines, hopefully including an emphasis on Defan. So, I'm hopeful for Season 7, I wish for a Season 8, and if the show really does get it's second wind, I'll take as many seasons as I can get! But most of all, I would really hate to see TVD die an undignified death.
Unfortunately 90% of the fandom don't see it that way. I'm hopeful for season 7, buI really doubt it'll go beyond that. Then again it depends on how 7 goes and I think they'll have one shot to prove that season 7 will be good w/o Nina.
I grew up with this show and when it ends it will be an end of an era for me, but the truth is, it's waaaay past its prime. In seasons 1-4 I knew every episode by heart. Now I can hardly remember what happened each season or what the main storylines were.
Wow we really are on the same page! Yes, I did like s6. we got some beautiful moments that we probably would never had gotten had Nina not left. and although I too didn't like the ending I do appreciate the delena endgame(not that it really matters now) and I think the writers made the most of what they had, i can't think of any better options. Too little too late in my opinion, the writers had such a strong chemistry between Ian and Nina and didn't take advantage of it while they had a chance. Fortunately, Ian and Paul have almost as strong of an onscreen chemistry, so all is not lost. They now have a chance to finally! Bank on what they have.
You are 100% right about Stefan. He has been defined for far too long by other characters. It's time he finds his own path, and be the hero of the story without being Caroline's shoulder to cry on, kat and Silas's play thing, damons side kick and Elena's on again off again. I agree the doppel is one of the only traits that sets him apart, I just don't think it's a strong enough character trait to begin a new storyline Surrounding this. on show doppel = victim, I'm not sure if that can lead to hero. But,?I'm all for finding him a different (dare I say better?!) supernatural purpose, maybe something connected to the henetics? Does Stefan have some abilities we don't know about yet?
As for the anti Defan outcome, you are right in some ways, Damon did choose delena, taking a risk that he would never see his brother again. But I don't think Stefan holds a grudge in any way, I don't even think he was angry at the time, he understood Damon's Choice and just wanted him to be happy. Damon didn't choose elena over Stefan, he chose normal life and romantic love, with the big hope that he would find a way to have his brother too. Stefan essentially Made the same choice at the beginning of s4, being with elena and Damon being forced to leave town, it would be hypocritical for Stefan to hold a grudge. Both brothers have hurt eachother far word than this, and by the end of the season they were closer than ever. If they are at odds in s7, and I'm sure they will be most of the season, it won't be because of Damon's choice.
Hard to believe, isn't it? They always talk abotu SPN beating Smallville in terms of episodes and seasons because there was a playful rivalry between Tom Welling and Jensen and Jared. They vowed a few years ago that they would last longer than Smallville did as a way to tease him, I love that many of the actors on the CW seem to have fun with each other.
it's not quite the same. giving up the vampire-card was never on the table before, and now that it's officially Damon's endgame. there's no outcome where the two of them will be together.unless Stefan becomes human too, or Damon gives up on Elena. Damon did choose to leave his brother behind as a vampire without a family. someone who hates being a vampire and is very bad at it. and I have no doubt Damon's decision to be human will put a strain on their relationship going forward. notice they also set up this theme of a miserable vampire without a family with both Enzo and Lily.
Agreed, with damon human and stefan a vamp it Wouidnt have been the same, doesn't mean they would have zero communication, they would have found a way. And it wouldn't be anyone's fault...damon didn't have a choice in my opinion. give up true love and a lifetime of happiness out of guilt and loyalty for his brother, with an eternity of wondering what could have been. there would have been so much anger and resentment that it might have been 1864 all over Again. Truth is, no idea if stefan agrees with me or feels resentment towards damon for possibly leaving him alone, we we haven't gotyen there (yet?). Whether this comes up again or not, I completely agree that s7 will start with a bunch of lonely and miserable vampires.
Unless Winter/ Hawley can come up with a truly compelling story arch and not the weekly worn out case of the week, Castle should start wrapping up by January. The magic is gone and I don't think it can be reacquired.
As a huge SVU fan I don't want it to end just yet, although S16 was by far the worst of SVU.02 & if the writing doesn't improve, & they find their way back to just a minimum personal drama weaved in to the current cases, then I'll be okay with it gone. Going on w/o Pino/Amaro will be hard, he & Kelli/Rollins are the reasons I tuned back in to watch SVU in S13, Barba became an added treat, always loved Ice/Fin but he had nothing to do in S16. New guy is okay but I wished they could've kept the whole gang. It won't be the same but I'll tune in & hope they'll find their way back to the SVU.02 I fell in love with!
I don't think I will. My sister says she's still semi-interested so I'll see what she thinks of the premiere and read the boards to see if it sounds like I should give the show a try. I wanted to watch until the end, but Carver has made that impossible! I have seriously hated each of his seasons more than the previous one. S10 was the absolute worst of the show's entire run, IMO.
I'll miss reading your commentary. :/ But maybe you'll still find stuff to talk about even if you aren't watching the newest episodes. :)
What about you? Are you gonna watch next year?
Hmm, I guess I'm gonna have to see how I feel after I've watched the rest of the episodes of season ten. I figure I'm not in a hurry since the finale already aired and the summer hiatus lasts for several months. But I do think that it's not a good sign that I haven't been able to catch up with the show.
I have seriously hated each of his seasons more than the previous one. S10 was the absolute worst of the show's entire run, IMO.
Can I ask what made season 10 worse than the two previous ones in your opinion?
I definitely plan to read the boards to see if it sounds like something interesting is happening so you may hear from me ;-)
There are certain posters who have very similar opinions and perspectives to mine (you're one of those ppl) so I will wait to hear what you guys think. If all of y'all (incl my sister) are excited and think the show has rebounded from the gutter in which it finds itself, I will likely start watching again. I've been watching since the premiere and always wanted to see how their journey ended.
But I do think that it's not a good sign that I haven't been able to catch up with the show.
Yeah . . . the fact that you have not chosen to watch the rest of the season speaks volumes. I understand that feeling. The boring episode w/the nuns . . . . I quit watching in the middle of it. I just flipped my TV to SVU and kept it there. And in reading ppl's opinions on episodes, I realized that there are a lot of scenes I missed b/c I wasn't giving the show my full attention this year, which was a first.
Can I ask what made season 10 worse than the two previous ones in your opinion?
Sure :-)
From the premiere to the finale, I found myself ridiculously bored (and disappointed) throughout the entire season. More so than any other season, I just couldn't get invested in any of the arcs. None of them interested me, and that's largely b/c nothing happened in any of the arcs. It was a very boring season to me.
The DD arc was a pointless, boring waste of time. DD was just Dean at a "10." He did nothing interesting. He said nothing interesting. He was just there, killing bad guys just like Dean would do. The most interesting he got was in that fight w/Cole, but that was it. I saw no reason to become invested in his salvation b/c he wasn't drastically different from Dean. I know Jared really hurt his shoulder but that negatively impacted Sam's mission and the way Sam was portrayed. He seemed really weak to me in the beginning of the season. I also didn't care for Crowley's weird obsession w/DD. That was just strange.
After Dean was saved, there were a bunch of filler, pointless episodes w/characters I couldn't have cared less about. MOC!Dean was just like DD in that he did nothing interesting or controversial. When the descriptions of how Dean should be behaving while having the Mark are more interesting than what we're actually seeing Dean do, that's a problem. Sam went from being completely pointless (in that if he disappeared from Episodes 4 to BoTD and nothing would have changed) to suddenly running around like a mad man, making deals w/demons to save Dean. it made no sense given that MOC!Dean seemed perfectly fine. I w
on't even go into detail re: Cas and Crowley other than to say their arcs were equally boring and pointless. It's clear the writers have no idea what to do w/either character.
There was just something about this season that turned me off to the show in general. I've never been as bored watching the show as I was this year. For the first time since the show premiered, I found myself flipping the channel when it was on, chatting on the phone, reading a book, talking to my sister, playing around on the Internet, etc. Back in the day, I gave SPN my full attn.
I'm over Carver. He is a horrible show runner, IMO. This season had me longing for more Purge-like discussions so I could take to the Internet and express my outrage. At least I cared back in S9. I didn't care at all in S10 about anything. Honestly, I was hoping Dean would start living Cain's life in reverse and that he would kill Sam just so something interesting would happen! Haha!
Thank you for posting your thoughts! :D It's good to get a heads up because it seems like the things that have been bugging me have not been resolved.
Why did demon Dean act the way he did (very humanlike even when he was at his meanest yet when it came to Sam, he was completely different, going as far as trying to kill Sam when the curing process was far along)?
Why was it claimed that Crowley and Dean became BFFs and why was Crowley so desperate for Dean's friendship and company? To me it seemed that he had or could have had a deeper connection with Sam because of their history.
Yeah, Dean is a fun guy to hang out with i.e. go to bars and pick up chicks with but it felt like Dean and Crowley would always be in competition mode and Dean would come out on top too often for Crowley's liking. Crowley wouldn't be able to walk all over Sam either but there would be a different dynamic. Well, maybe Crowley did not want to be the one pulling Sam's pigtails and the sort of rejection Sam would dish out was too much because Crowley had been trying to impress Sam. In comparison, it was probably easier to deal with Dean's bad temper.
More so than any other season, I just couldn't get invested in any of the arcs. None of them interested me, and that's largely b/c nothing happened in any of the arcs. It was a very boring season to me.
The season seems to have lacked even controversy. When I saw some comments that seemed to want to show Sam in a bad light, even they seemed to be reaching (like Sam is paranoid or judges Dean too harshly or is hubristic). Sam just seemed to be worrying about Dean and feeling desperate because his attempts to help Dean get rid of the mark were going nowhere.
There was just something about this season that turned me off to the show in general. I've never been as bored watching the show as I was this year.
Maybe the brotherhood didn't feel as great as before despite many people getting what they had asked for i.e. Dean having the mytharc and Sam being the supportive brother.
I hope you watch soon b/c I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the season as a whole. It definitely lacked controversy this year. I can only say more controversy would have kept me a bit more entertained, not that controversy is necessarily good if that makes any sense. Haha!
I hear you! Sometimes it gets tiring to read comments when the storyline is controversial particularly if Sam and Dean don't see eye to eye.
It's definitely good that Sam got a break for once or at least so it seems :D In a way, it's a shame I missed out on a lot of discussion. But maybe it's good to watch the show differently for a change. :D
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
TVD for sure. Even though it'll be interesting to see how they'll play it out without Elena (Nina WAS one of the main trio from TVD) but I honestly don't think the ratings will improve...
ReplyDeleteThe Middle and Modern Family. At least I hope so, cause then they can end when the quality is still quite high. If you stretch a show too long it'll get harder to watch and I hope that that won't happen for these shows..
ReplyDeleteRegarding Bones and Grey's Anatomy: People have been saying for years that this is the final season and yet both are still on the air. I think Bones will be the first one to go, possibly this season will really be its final. Grey's depends on how far the ratings will fall after Dempsey's departure. I think it could have a 13th season.
ReplyDeleteCastle: I think this will be its last season with the cast signing only one-year deals.
So I voted for Bones and Castle.
Grey's won't be going anywhere,sorry. ;)
ReplyDeleteit's hard to tell because it depends on ratings of course but also on contracts. I voted the middle : it'll have 2 more seasons i think. ratings will still be decent but abc will bet on new/younger comedies (black-ish, fresh off, goldbergs) or abc studios productions.
ReplyDeleteTVD,Bones & Castle.
ReplyDeletetotally agree. it's really amazing that they still are very good shows after 6 seasons : don't ruin it abc please
ReplyDeleteI actually thought Modern Family's worst seasons are Season 3 and 4, and it has been pretty good for seasons 5 and 6.
ReplyDeletewell imo TVD really should end but Julie mentioned to have a pitch for S8 already. lol
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about The Middle. I thought Modern Family's 6th season was weaker than other seasons, but still funny. The Middle however was very consistent and I enjoyed every episode of season 6.
ReplyDeleteKudos to the writers of both shows. They still keep it interesting, even after 6 seasons, and I'm looking forward to next season!
Anyone else think all of them might? In this day and age I wouldn't be the least bit surprised
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries, Bones and Castle
ReplyDeleteOther Shows (not on the list): Criminal Minds
NCIS and TBBT will continue for a long time yet and I'm not sure about Elementary (because of syndication. CBS wants the money so the show could continue a while longer).
Well,i'm not surprised.Otherwise she would've closed shop this season. She wants to continue the franchise with or without the main trio.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I only think NCIS might make it
ReplyDeleteEnding this upcoming season: TVD, Bones and Castle. + Nashville and some CBS shows.
ReplyDeleteEnding in 2 seasons: Supernatural, Grey's Anatomy, The Middle (maybe). + OUAT and others
next poll: which shows SHOULD end over the next 2 seasons?
ReplyDeleteI agree. I can only take Caroline in small doses, she isn't enough to lead this show. I am interested in the Heretics. But that's kind of it.
ReplyDeleteIf they turn Damon back into the badazz he used to be instead of the whipped puppy, I will stay with it.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be Vampire Diaries, Bones and Castle . I really don't know for the others shows : )
ReplyDeleteHow do you feel about Bonnie?
ReplyDeleteOne question: is the episode cup taking place today?
ReplyDeleteTVD,Castle,Bones&Grey's Anatomy
ReplyDeleteTVD will probably end season after next.
ReplyDeleteTVD for sure.
ReplyDeleteBones and Castle are very likely.
ReplyDeleteGreys should end at 13 ( it will become abc longest running show) plus it could still go out with good ratings instead of being dragged out
ReplyDeleteBonnie is now, finally, a really interesting person because of what she's been through. There's a lot in her to explore. But I don't agree that someone has to "replace" Elena.
ReplyDeleteCastle, TVD, Bones, could possibly end this season
ReplyDeleteThe Middle will have at least 1-2 more (depending on cost)
SVU will depend on cost and ratings
Supernatural I see ending in 2 seasons
NCIS still has life in it
Yup, the post goes online in a few hours.
ReplyDeleteGrey's Anatomy is never gonna end. Calling it now: Winnie will be one of the new interns in Season 23.
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries, Bones, Castle,.
ReplyDeleteI think but NCIS,maybe Greys ( though I can see Greys ending in a couple seasons too).
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries, Bones, Castle, and Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteYaaay! Thx for informing me!
ReplyDeleteEllen will exit Grey's in a year or two, Shonda will try to push it further but don't think it will go like that.
ReplyDeleteVD will also most likely end in 2 years, but wouldn't be surprised if Julie tries to spin off something out of them. Like The Pack, The American Pack or American Witches
Don't think Castle will go past S08, I want Stana and Nathan in a show I also can enjoy.
SPN is a mystery to me. The ratings started to shake this year, more than expected. But the show has such a strong fanbase. But think 2 more seasons is a solid prospect when we look ahead.
Bones for ever
ReplyDeleteI think all of these shows will end in the next two years except NCIS and maybe the Middle.
ReplyDeleteIt was thought that the current season, Season 10, of Bones would be the season. But it has been renewed for Season 11. Will that be the last season?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, intersting poll. Let's see what the crystal ball says...
ReplyDeleteEven though I only watch one of them (Castle), my picks were.
I don't ever want Supernatural to end.... :(
ReplyDeleteI think he will be bad in Season 7, but in the cause of good, if that makes sense. Some people will need to be killed and Damon's the only one with the b**** to do it.
ReplyDeleteSeeing as how Julie confirmed Lily,Damon's mother will be the big bad next season, will he have enough b**** to do what's necessary when the time comes?
ReplyDeleteI've always had the fantasy that they would be paired together for a final season for both shows.
ReplyDeleteBones, Castle and The Vampire Diaries are my picks. I don't know why Grey's Anatomy keeps being talked about on these polls. It is still such a big hit and certainly way far from the marginal or below that territory in which shows like Castle and Bones are now.
ReplyDeleteI don't want NCIS to end, but I think it will to allow the cast to move on to other things. I agree that Criminal Minds should have been included, I think it is getting a bit long in the tooth.
ReplyDeleteEllen is staying on the show till the end
ReplyDeleteWhen exactly :D
ReplyDeleteHer contract is up this year, I assume she will prolong it one more year, maybe 2. That is my pov at least. Don't think she has much desire to push forward. Being a lead for 12 years is tough and I'm sure she want to spend more time with her family. So I see her do maybe a year or two, just to cozy herself in a bit more.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Law & Order SVU, don't get me wrong I've watched this franchise since the beginning I just think one or two more seasons it's run it's course, Castle another favorite I want it to end on a high note not over staying leave with an ending not overstaying Bones is another show I've always loved for the same reason, Grey's Anatomy just leave I still watch it but I'm a bit salty with the way Derrick's demise was handled...
ReplyDeleteSuits ;( & TVD
ReplyDeleteYou mean, could he kill his mother. Wow. But yeah, I think there is one, and only one, condition under which Damon would do it. If it came down to Lily's life or Stefan's, and there were no other alternative, he would sacrifice his mother before he would let his brother die. Living with that is another story. And then there's the question, how would Stefan react?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Bones and Castle, not just because of ratings, because actors are probably ready to move on. Depending on how Greys can come back from Patrick Dempsey's departure I do not give it more than another year as well. NCIS will go on as long as CBS wants it to
ReplyDeleteMost likely, because despite ratings decline that is not why they got renewed. Bones makes them money in syndication. FOX will let Bones go when the actors are ready, and I suspect this will be it for them.
ReplyDeleteCW made a very smart move pairing TVD with the Originals next season. I don't think the ratings will be hurt too much thanks to that.
ReplyDeletequality wise TVD has become garbage, but if they are serious about changing the direction of the show, I think the TVD-verse is still interesting enough that they can turn it around.
ReplyDeleteTalk about beating a dead horse... I wish I could say I'm surprised, but I'm not...
ReplyDeleteCastle and Bones, with the cast contract negotiations this year I thought they wouldn't even return in the fall for their 8th and 11th seasons, respectively, and those will probably be their last seasons;
ReplyDeleteand Criminal Minds, which should be on this list too, because even though it's one of the best live+7 performers, CBS' highest rated drama in that category, its rating is still falling when it airs live and it belongs to ABC not CBS and it probably isn't cheap to make.
Bones, Castle, Supernatural, The Vampire Diaries, Law and Order:SVU
ReplyDeleteSorry, I think you're going to have to live with Steroline, but Bamon is unlikely to happen. Season 7's "mythology, mystery and suspense" can withstand one romance. Now that the love triangle is over and Delena became endgame I fully expect new directions and much awesomeness from TVD.
ReplyDeleteA part of me doesn't want it to end either. On the other hand, I found only 5-6 episodes to be good out of 22-23 (recent seasons), maybe the show would be better with only 13 eps, they could tell a better story without much filler.
ReplyDeleteBonnie's been a witch since Season 1 and there's been plenty of "witchy woo" from her and other witches over the past 6 seasons, but there's no question that TVD is still a vampire show. I don't expect the focus of the show to shift to Bonnie. I don't think Bonnie, or Caroline for that matter, needs to "lead". Yes, Elena was the main female, but that's over and it's time for change.
ReplyDeleteThe Vampire Diaries, Bones, Law and Order: SVU and Castle.
ReplyDeleteI agree - tougher even than deciding to save Bonnie and give up Elena for decades. I think Lily's character is fascinating on a number of levels and I'm also looking forward to her story line. I did read that she will try to pit Stefan and Damon against each other. If Lily does exit mid-season I wonder who the next big bad will be?
ReplyDeleteSome new mythology will come into play via the Heretics,i'm sure of it.
ReplyDeleteAs I've already told you, I have faith in your predictions now after you called that "sleeping curse" thing last season! I like the "new mythology" idea. S***, it's only June 1st.
ReplyDeleteLet me watch first 4/5 episodes this fall,i'll predict the entire season more or less.
ReplyDeleteWell, somebody has got to lead it and I hope they aren't planning on Sarah Salvatore. I've never liked her. And much as I love Damon, I really don't want a full season of him brooding over Elena. Then we have Alaric who will be grieving all season.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Castle, Bones and SVU. I don't watch the other two.
ReplyDeletewell I'm not going to. if they bring back Steroline next season I have no intention of watching. the only way this show is going to survive is to move away from these pathetic romance plots.
ReplyDelete"will come to an end" or "should come to an end" :)
ReplyDeleteI suspect that several of them will but IMO only one of the above (that I watch) should and that's Bones.
I'm sure she will be a big bad in s7, but how long will she stay on the show for? Will she be a big bad throughout the season? My guess is she'll only stay on the show for 5-6 eps, when the new big bad will be introduced. Another henstic, or someone from either of the brothers past?
ReplyDeleteI think so too. She'll survive for 6-7 episodes max.The main big bad will be introduced later-I have no idea who/what that will be for now.Too early to tell.Let's see the new characters casting first-Especially the ones playing Heretics.
ReplyDeleteJp has already said there was a time jump leading into s7 so that they don't have to spend time watching damon sulking over elena, though I'm sure her name will come up often.
ReplyDeleteCAstle 100%, the quality of the show really tanked this year. Bones isn't the show it once was but still has some life left in it.
ReplyDeleteIMO the only "leading" Elena did in six seasons was lead the Salvatore brothers on a merry chase until Damon finally caught her.
ReplyDeleteI'll be waiting for that!
ReplyDeleteYou and I are definitely on the same wave length, Debbie.
ReplyDeletenow that Elena is gone I see no problem with bringing back some doppelganger myth. Stefan has been sidelined for years in favor of Damon, it's about time they give him a story of his own.
ReplyDeleteWell Sol, I'm really sorry you're already planning not to watch Season 7 if Steroline is a part of it.
ReplyDeletePractically all of them. Most have run far past their shelf life, and it's boggling to me how some are still on the air.
ReplyDeleteIf I thought Stefan had been "sidelined ...in favor of Damon" (which I don't; I think Stef had had his share of moments in the sun, although please feel free to disagree), I wouldn't think dragging out a story line that's about as done to death as The Cure would do him any good.
ReplyDeletesorry but Stefan is my favorite character and in the last few years he's become a B character. he barely had one word with Silas, never met Wes, never met Markos, never met Kai, never met Sarah, he's not really buds with Ric or Enzo or Matt, and didn't even have one scene with Bonnie in s6.
ReplyDeleteSteroline is a repulsive all consuming relationship for Stefan, if they continue to pair him with Caroline there's no chance season 7 will be any different for him and that's unacceptable for me.
I'm the biggest delena fan so it's so weird coming from me. But I think they took Delena as far as they good, it's time we got all that Defan has to offer.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if we need to hear the word "doppelganger" for stefan to get a good storyline. He was sidelined not because of damon but because the focus was on romance, and due to popularity Delena seemed to be at the forfront. Now, without elena, romance I doubt will be the focus, but mythology and the defan family.
ReplyDeleteMe too!
ReplyDeleteI understand how it can be with favorite characters; I've had my share of them and I can feel very protective of them and how they are treated.
ReplyDeleteBut please correct me if my memory is faulty: Did Damon ever meet Silas or Marcos?
ReplyDeleteits time for Stefan to explore what he wants for his future, and being a doppelganger is part of his identity it might lead him to a new path because right now he's pretty much aimless hates being a vampire and moves from one dead end job to another. a romance with Caroline certainly won't last him an eternity. he needs some supernatural purpose if he's going to survive eternity without Damon.
As someone commented above, this is supposed to be a show about vampires. You're pitching a different - and interesting - show.
ReplyDeleteof course he did. they were the main villains and Damon always deals with the main villains. Stefan on the other hand in the last two seasons hadn't even met the villains.
ReplyDeleteWould you be kind enough to describe for me the times Damon dealt with Silas and Marcos? I'm sure your memory is better than mine.
ReplyDeleteyou should check the wiki, but practically every episode in the first half of season 5 had Damon and Silas, first trying to get him to give Stefan back and then get him to resurrect Bonnie. as for Markos, he told the story of the travelers to Damon when he went to him to get Stefan and Elena's visions to stop. and later Damon stole the hosts for his travelers trying to kill him.
ReplyDeleteVampire Diaries lost its lead and they already had down to the wire negotiating for both Castle and Bones so I would say they probably go unless that negotiating was for more than 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced there will be an NCIS and Law & Order show on at least until I'm dead, so they feel safe to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree SPN will go at least until 12 seasons since that depends largely on Jensen and Jared. I could really see them making season 13 the last. NCIS and Criminal Minds have such sweet syndication that they could float even if the ratings collapsed and neither are anywhere near that point. I put SVU in that category too. I could see these shows going another half decade at minimum.
I'm guessing this is Elementary's last year but a lot depends on other shows and like you said, their awesome syndication deal.
ReplyDeleteDid The Vampire Diaries get syndicated then? Good for them. I agree that NCIS will run until TV dies and Supernatural definitely depends on Jensen and Jared (and the CW not being cancelled).
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't know if it has been syndicated. I just think it's more likely to be syndicated if they know it has an actual end as opposed to just disappearing with cliffhangers in place.
ReplyDeleteBones and Supernatural.(I'm hoping) They got my votes. And idt TVD will make it to season 8. I'd be really surprised if it were. It all depends on how season 7 will go. But i think it's done. Bones and Supernatural definitely needs to end as well. When it happens, iI will be prepared to say goodbye to all three of my shows.
ReplyDeleteActually I thought 7th Heaven was the longest running show on the WB/CW with 243 episodes. Supernatural needs to last 2 more seasons to be crowned king.
ReplyDeleteAgreed and it makes for happier fans too. I thought I missed an announcement or something. I'm surprised it isn't syndicated yet.
ReplyDeleteNo, TVD has not been syndicated yet (and probably wont be, at least on good respectable cable channel like TNT).
ReplyDeleteSame here,I just don't want it to end ever. But I would welcome shorter, tighter seasons thou, cable style. And 20 seasons of that :)
ReplyDeleteIts serialized , I guess not very attractive like procedurals.
ReplyDeleteDo you know which id ABC's longest running drama?
ReplyDeleteDo you know which is ABC's longest running show? Whichever it is, it ran for 12 seasons right? I used to wish for Grey's to last 16 seasons in order to beat ER, but I've changed my mind and I just want it to be ABC's longest running show. As long as it's good …:)
ReplyDeleteNYPD Blue is ABC longest drama with 12 seasons and 261 episode
ReplyDeleteI agree. :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your thoughts. I've been wondering about the future of Elementary and how many more seasons it'll do. You're right, I suppose it depends on other shows and how good/bad the pilot shows will go.
ReplyDeleteI think that would be Grey's. Not including reality series of course.
ReplyDeleteI too think TVD depends on the other two leads. I believe they both signed a one-year contract so it they want out after season 7, they can. I agree one of them leaving will likely be the end.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with the rest of what you say!
7th Heaven ran for 243 episodes??? Yikes. I only remember an interview saying Supernatural wanted to beat Smallville's 10 seasons. But if 2 more is all it takes to be crowned 'longest running show' of the CW I could see them sticking it out.
ReplyDeleteI voted for Castle (there are too many BTS changes going on in the past few seasons, so while it might be the networks "well done ticket!", I feel like we have 1 or 2 more seasons and that is all. (including Kate either choosing becoming The Captain or The Senator, plus Caskett baby - those will be the plots for the season(s)).
ReplyDeleteAlso voted for Bones as I do not see it going on much longer, either.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I remember some parts of TVD so well I can quote the dialog, but other parts not at all, obviously. 132 is a lot of episodes to remember. Actually 133, counting The Originals "pilot" episode.
ReplyDeleteI voted for SPN. I can't see that show lasting past Season 11 let alone S13. I think shows like NCIS and L&O: SVU can last for several more years.
ReplyDeleteI'm also hoping Defan has an important story line next season and I feel some confidence that it will happen. The stage has been set for it. IMO Stefan and Damon have the most important relationship in this series and I want to see that relationship in much more depth. We've got one, maybe two if we're lucky, seasons left. It's time.
ReplyDeleteYou know my feeling on that - we don't need no stinkin' trio.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Shows like Criminal Minds, NCIS, and SVU can go on indefinitely, IMO. I still watch and enjoy SVU.
ReplyDeleteYou need 100 episodes in the can to be eligible for syndication.
ReplyDeleteTricky... But I voted for:
ReplyDelete- TVD
- The MIddle
- Bones
- SPN
and
- Castle
But they all could go either way to be honest... except for The Middle... that one I think is pretty much done for.
ReplyDeleteI agree.I,for one,am completely over the triangle and more.Time to move on!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately 90% of the fandom don't see it that way. I'm hopeful for season 7, buI really doubt it'll go beyond that. Then again it depends on how 7 goes and I think they'll have one shot to prove that season 7 will be good w/o Nina.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with this show and when it ends it will be an end of an era for me, but the truth is, it's waaaay past its prime. In seasons 1-4 I knew every episode by heart. Now I can hardly remember what happened each season or what the main storylines were.
ReplyDeleteWow we really are on the same page!
ReplyDeleteYou are 100% right about Stefan.
ReplyDeleteAs for the anti Defan outcome, you are right in some ways, Damon did choose delena, taking a risk that he would never see his brother again.
ReplyDeleteit's not quite the same. giving up the vampire-card was never on the table before, and now that it's officially Damon's endgame. there's no outcome where the two of them will be together.unless Stefan becomes human too, or Damon gives up on Elena.
ReplyDeleteDamon did choose to leave his brother behind as a vampire without a family. someone who hates being a vampire and is very bad at it. and I have no doubt Damon's decision to be human will put a strain on their relationship going forward. notice they also set up this theme of a miserable vampire without a family with both Enzo and Lily.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much. After season 12. Grey's will have passed NYPD Blue's episodes count, but it needs to get that 13rd season to be ABC's crown.
ReplyDeleteI am betting Grey's does not even make it to mid season. Cast members already taking on some new project JIC
ReplyDeleteUnless Winter/ Hawley can come up with a truly compelling story arch and not the weekly worn out case of the week, Castle should start wrapping up by January. The magic is gone and I don't think it can be reacquired.
ReplyDeleteThese shows are so easy to marathon that they are always going to make syndication money too. That's enough to add more episodes for now.
ReplyDeleteI could see it syndicated on a more niche network though where serialized isn't as big of a deal. If not then it had a good run anyway.
ReplyDeleteAs a huge SVU fan I don't want it to end just yet, although S16 was by far the worst of SVU.02 & if the writing doesn't improve, & they find their way back to just a minimum personal drama weaved in to the current cases, then I'll be okay with it gone.
ReplyDeleteHi, lala2! :) Just wanted to ask whether you will be watching season 11 since you expressed some doubts about that previously?
ReplyDelete(I haven't finished season ten yet.)
Hi :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will.
What about you? Are you gonna watch next year?
Yup!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I will.
ReplyDeleteI'll miss reading your commentary.
I definitely plan to read the boards to see if it sounds like something interesting is happening so you may hear from me ;-)
ReplyDeleteThere are certain posters who have very similar opinions and perspectives to mine (you're one of those ppl) so I will wait to hear what you guys think.
ReplyDeleteWhy did demon Dean act the way he did (very humanlike even when he was at his meanest yet when it came to Sam, he was completely different, going as far as trying to kill Sam when the curing process was far along)?
Haha!
ReplyDeleteI hear you! Sometimes it gets tiring to read comments when the storyline is controversial particularly if Sam and Dean don't see eye to eye.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely good that Sam got a break for once or at least so it seems :D In a way, it's a shame I missed out on a lot of discussion. But maybe it's good to watch the show differently for a change. :D
Yeah . . . there is nothing wrong w/watching the show differently. It might even be better in a "marathon" viewing than watching week to week.
ReplyDelete
