This show is going to outlive us. If we're talking "will have", then it will last as long as the ratings are good. If we're talking "should have", then 12 are more than enough. They should make this the last season and end the show while they are still on a high note-ish.
Season 12 won't be the last that's for sure. Even if the ratings drop, I think it will get renewed at least for a final season (I also think that it wouldn't be hard to convince Ellen Pompeo to stay for a few more seasons.) So in my opinion the show will have at least 13 seasons, anything after that depends on the rating. At this point I can't give up on GA so I know I'm here until the very end no matter how many more seasons are left.
I say 13. Even if ratings decline big time (which I don't see) it will get a final season. With 13 seasons it becomes ABC's longest running show and gets to go out on top.
Anyways, we have Castle and Nashville on the bubble this season, so I don't think it will end just yet. After all, it did finally fix the death slot. I would say three more seasons, but that may also be how much time Scandal and/or Modern Family has left, and that would be too much. So between two and four. It really all depends on what else is ending that season.
The ideal thing was to be over THIS season (or the last one, the tenth with cristina's exit), but since season 12 is already happening, and Paul Lee specifically said that "this won't be our last season (12), neither the one after that (13)", I believe 14 IS MORE THAN ENOUGH
Should have ended years ago, but I digress... I think they'll try to drag i along for as long as they can, but I think they might not be able to keep Ellen Pompeo longer than her current contract. So I'm gonna say 14...
13/14 With the current drama crop looking like another bunch of failures, it'd take a pretty huge drop for ABC to gore their veteran. I think 13 could be the last, but wouldn't be surprised to see them shoot for 14. Really, the show needs to stay below 1.0 before ABC will even think of pulling the plug without having a solid hit to replace it and right now I don't think they have it.
I want it to be 13 seasons in order to give them time for a real closure, time to watch Meredith finding a way to win a Harper Avery award at finding Alzheimer's cure while being too late and getting the decease (hahaha or a crazy but powerful story) and for Grey's reaching the mark of being the longest running ABC show.
I want them too to beat ER but I can't take anymore deaths and frankly I don't know what other story lines they can come up to (though they always surprise) so I say 13's good enough, at least to be the longest running ABC show.
I hope she stays until the end, too. But I think Ellen is not planning on leaving, she tweeted "I can think of a thousand reasons why I love this show and I'm so glad I never walked away" in April, and I think she enjoys being a lead on a Shondaland show alongside Kerry Washington and Viola Davis.
20 is a good round number let's Meredith the Chief of Surgery she wins her second Harper Avery like her mum. We see her kids grow up and become doctors like their mum and dad. Have loads of flashback episodes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'll say 14 but it will be more reasonable to stop after season 12!
ReplyDelete15, I don't think ABC will let it go yet.
ReplyDeletei think season 12 should be the last but I think she survive til season 14/15
ReplyDelete15+
ReplyDeleteSeason 13.
ReplyDelete43,984... is my guess
ReplyDeleteI think 12 but hoping on 15+

ReplyDeleteShonda wants 15. So Grey's will have 15 seasons.

Is too many a viable option? Because that's gonna be my answer.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly, 12 IMHO won't be the last one, or at least won't be planned this way and ABC will give Shonda one more year to finish things off.
ReplyDelete15.
ReplyDeleteSource?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking 12
ReplyDeleteI said 12 but its possible it will go on to at least 13, depending if they can get Elllen Pompeo to stay
ReplyDelete13. I think the ratings will tank this year but not enough to cancel it til the following year plus Nashville and likely Castle will be gone.
ReplyDeleteToo many.
ReplyDeleteMore than 15 - let them arise consecutive seasons with new generations, as in the ER.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think more then 15 . ABC wont let it go. IMO it will come down to when Shonda wants to end it.
ReplyDeleteI'd say 15 seasons. it's a solid number, and what I would expect from a show that's been able to re-do itself so many times.
ReplyDeleteThe ideal thing was to be over THIS season (or the last one, the tenth with cristina's exit), but since season 12 is already happening, and Paul Lee specifically said that "this won't be our last season (12), neither the one after that (13)", I believe 14 IS MORE THAN ENOUGH

ReplyDeleteI think 13. Especially with the death of Derek I expect poor ratings this season and the. Season 13 will be a wrap up season to finish the show off.

ReplyDeleteI'm voting "Until TV as we know it dies." This show has remarkable staying power.

ReplyDeleteAt the very least, Grey's Anatomy will have 14 seasons.
