20:55 - Hunters - Nathan Phillips to Star
I’ve learned that Nathan Phillips is nearing a deal for the lead in Hunters, Syfy’s 13-episode, straight-to-series alien drama from The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd, which is slated to premiere in 2016. Written by Natalie Chaidez (Heroes) based on Whitley Strieber’s best-selling novel Alien Hunter, the series chronicles the disappearance of a decorated Philadelphia cop’s wife, which leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists — shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world. Phillips will play the detective, Flynn Carroll, a former FBI agent suffering from PTSD whose hallucinations get worse fro the stress of his wife going missing.

16:15 - Kindergarten Cop planned for TV Series if VOD remake does well
A remake of Kindergarten Cop, that may lead to a TV series. This time: the hunt is on for, er, a flash drive...
And we thought the week had been light on remake stories. Apparently not.
The latest? The Arnold Schwarzenegger comedy vehicle, Kindergarten Cop, is getting a remake, although this won't be with the big screen in mind. Rather that the Ivan Reitman-directed original is getting a video on demand refresh. If it works out, there are apparently plans for a TV series as well.
Showbiz411 reports that the outline of the new film will see whoever takes on Arnie's role working with an Indian sidekick by the name of Sanjit. The pair will be hunting for a missing flash drive, which has been mislaid somewhere in the witness protection program. And for reasons of it needing to be there else the film's title wouldn't work, said drive has turned up in a kindergarten class.

10:40 - MOVIES: Fox Switches ‘The Martian’ and ‘Victor Frankenstein’ Release Dates
20th Century Fox is swapping dates with two of its fall movies. The Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain-starring The Martian is moving out of Thanksgiving and up to October 2nd and Victor Frankenstein starring James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe is stepping into the Thanksgiving date.
That moves what looks to be the better film — Ridley Scott’s The Martian up by a month — and I gotta say the trailer for it which dropped this week looks like it has the goods. By making the switch, Fox takes the Frankenstein film out of October and before the Halloween holiday.

Oh God. Finally something from Badlands and I feel like a fangirl. STV has spoiled me today. The Bastard Executioner, Zoo, Dark Matter and Badlands.
ReplyDeleteWell the 2nd one did end with a cliffhanger :) it looks great!
ReplyDeleteEverything I've seen on the Astronauts Wives Club has me super excited for that show!
ReplyDeleteZootopia looks adorable!
I'm so not on board with the Kindergarten Cop remake! That it might turn into a TV show gets me even less on board!!!!!!
Ooooooh! Intrigue at Wayward Pines... I'm just gonna blame Pam for everything. Didn't buy her nice act last week at all!
Frankenstein would have been a better fit to be released on Halloween... Oh well. Who knows what went into that marketing decision...
HA at Chris Hemsworth joining the Ghostbusters movie! I hope he and Kate McKinnon have a bit of screentime. They had some good moments when he hosted SNL back in April.
