Alex Saxon interview on FINDING CARTER and THE FOSTERS
myFanbase talks to Alex Saxon about his recent projects.
Q: In an interview you said about "Finding Carter" that "a real theme of the show is forgiveness and how forgiving everyone is with each other." Max has been incredibly forgiving with Crash even when nobody else was. What do you think, what did it take for Max to not only be so forgiving but to let Crash in as a friend?
Forgiving Crash was a natural evolution in Max’s rehabilitation. Hard as it may have been, he was enlightened enough to recognize that holding on to fear and anger about the situation would only serve to continue to hurt him; hold him back in his recovery. Our producing director, Jen Lynch, put it so eloquently: Forgiveness is a decision before it is a feeling. The friendship wasn’t accessible until they both made a move towards forgiveness.
Q: A show like "The Fosters" is wonderful important food for thought! So many groundbreaking issues. What were you most excited about playing from your own material as Wyatt?
I’m grateful that the creators and writers kept finding a way for him to be in Callie’s life. It turned into an exercise in unconditional love. Objectively, Callie yanked him around a lot. But he kept showing up, even when Callie was withholding information, harboring feelings for her foster brother, Brandon, or resenting Wyatt’s efforts to protect her from things that hurt her in the past. All Wyatt knew was that he loved Callie, and he kept her best interest at heart. Its pretty cool to portray that level of caring and respect for an audience to watch. I just finished my 20th episode with the show. It has gone in directions that I couldn’t anticipate, but I’m grateful as ever to be a part of the Fosters family.

18:20 - MOVIES: Pitch Perfect 3 Confirmed
There will be more, dear pitches, but it won't be cheap. With Pitch Perfect 2's massive $160.9 million in domestic box office (and counting), Universal and Gold Circle are moving ahead on a third installment.
Sources say negotiations have begun with Kay Cannon, who wrote the first two movies, to return for a third. It remains to be seen whether co-star Elizabeth Banks, a steward of the franchise as one of its producers, will return to the director's chair.

Only two days to go for OITNB
ReplyDeleteI do wonder what this big twist is in 'Finding Carter'
ReplyDeleteAnyway, can't wait.
Is there a premiere date announced for American Crime Story that I have missed?
ReplyDeleteNo dates yet.
ReplyDeleteFYI: All dates for all shows and all episodes are in the Episode Database http://stvplus.com/show/510/American-Crime-Story#episodes
I'm pretty sure I heard January when it was ordered (or around that time).
ReplyDelete"Jaden Smith to recur"
ReplyDeleteoh darn...how much did Will pay for that?
So even though Lucifer's concept was tweaked and the main character is no longer running a piano bar (he helps cops punish criminals now) the poster still has him tinkering at a piano, presumably in a bar? That's not a great promotional decision.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is assuming he is now only working for the cops yet he DOES open the piano bar and is still running it in the series. The change made is the girl that he's in love with is a cop and he's helping them because of her. But the piano bar is still part of the concept.
ReplyDeleteI like the Lucifer poster but not a huge fan of the 20s-era font, I hope they keep the original choice of font.
ReplyDeleteI heard it will air after AHS Hotel
ReplyDeleteMy point is that running a bar is no longer the main focus of the series. They shifted to "procedural cop show." So, initial promotion for the show should focus on the main bullet points and not what is now just a standard series location. That would be like Castle prominently using Rick's penthouse in their print ads.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing so far to indicate the case will be the sole focus of each episode. He still comes to LA for the purpose of opening the bar, one can presume whenever they're not out on a case they'll be at the bar, and there have to B stories and side stories for Lucifer and there's been no indication that there still won't be lots of adaptations and elements from the comics. Still, the bar being his passion and why he's arriving on the scene on the first place makes me feel it's 100% appropriate
ReplyDeleteFirst - I said main focus, not sole focus.
ReplyDeleteSecond - His purpose in coming to Earth was not due to being passionate about a piano bar. It was because he was bored in Hell, as was mentioned in the post-retooling show description when the project went to pilot.
Lastly - (I'll keep using the Castle example) There are B stories on Castle as well which don't take place at the precinct and have nothing to do with working a case but they don't get any promotion either, nor should they.
