Hey all,
Well, here we go. The nomination phase is over and the draw has been done. Just before we get to the draw, I just want to mention a couple of things from the nominations. We received nearly 900 nominations that spanned almost 500 different episodes. That's a pretty impressive turn-out from all of you who submitted, and it's really nice to see a lot of variation in people's submissions. A lot only got one or two votes and so unfortunately didn't make it in, but I enjoy seeing the different episodes that people love.
Anyway, onto the draw. The draw was done so that:
1. The top eight seeds (in bold) cannot face each other until the quarter-finals.
2. No episodes of the same show face each other in the first round.
The draw is as follows:
A quick comment about the top eight seeds - Person of Interest's 'If-Then-Else' easily took the number one seed with 254 nominations, while the fourth season finale picked up 105 to give it fourth seed. Arrow's 'The Fallen' started slow, but built up its nominations to 142, giving it the number two seed, while the CW show's 'My Name Is Oliver Queen' had 108 putting it third. The 100's second season finale took fifth - 'Spacewalker' came sixth. Game of Thrones' 'Hardhome', which aired the day before the deadline, was seventh seed while The Flash's first season finale took the final seed.
So, enough of all that. Let's move on to the actual competition...
The rules are as follows:
1. Two episodes go head to head for 24 hours. The episode that emerges as winner will go through to the next round.
2. Vote for your favourite episode, and tell us what you voted for.
3. Tell others about the competition! Social media is your best friend in this competition if you want your favourite episode to win.
4. Be respectful. This is a competition, but be friendly. Let's not have any abuse directed at any person, fandom or show, as we've had on occasion in the past.
The first of this year's polls features two first season finales, as The Flash's 'Fast Enough' takes on The Leftovers' 'The Prodigal Son Returns'. We move on to see Outlander's 'The Wedding' face Orphan Black's 'Certain Agony of the Battlefield'. As many may remember, Outlander won the 2014 Series Competition so I'm interested to see how the show does in this competition. Next, we have The Musketeers' 'The Accused' taking on one of my favourite episodes in the past year - Banshee's incredibly brutal episode 'Tribal'. Finally, Justified's series finale is up against Supernatural's tenth season finale, 'My Brother's Keeper'.
Don’t forget to share the post; the more people vote, the more chance your episode has of winning!
Check back tomorrow for the next set of polls from round 1!
