As we have reached over 2000 comments, many of which have photos in them which seem to cause Disqus to start misbehaving, I have started a new thread for this update. You can find Part One by clicking the link below. As before, if you come across anything new, you can add it to the comments below, or send it directly to us via this Scoop Button.

If you would like to join in our in depth discussions and speculation on photos as they come in rather than wait for the general updates, scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click the subscribe button so that it turns green. Then you will be emailed whenever anyone posts new information and can follow a link directly to that comment and reply.

One thing we ask is that it stays on topic in here please, otherwise it will make the comments very hard to navigate. We have a G+ Community for all other Musketeers discussion, where you can either join a current conversation or start a new one if you so wish. There will be a series rewatch in our chat room organised on these pages in the next month or so too, if you would like to join us details will be going up over there shortly. ReplyDelete
  7. I've just tried refreshing a couple of times, it seems ok on my end, sorry :( Chrome >> FF obviously :p hehe

    ReplyDelete
  8. Sorted. :) I descended to threats of screwdrivers and sledgehammers, and hey presto, lappy is behaving. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  9. Thanks for the new thread! I already nominated Trial and Punishment for the episode nominations -- I'm glad you did too! I hope this means there will be enough noms for it to go forward!

    ReplyDelete
  10. Arrived here safely. Must have gone to bed too early and missed the opening last night.

    ReplyDelete
  11. We saved you some cake. There are a few party poppers left in the SideRoom too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. I hope so too :) @Sandi I submitted the voting form but got no confirmation so resubbed it and got one second time. Hope that doesn't count as a multiple vote...😬

    ReplyDelete
  13. Much better ! This loads faster - thanks Sandi!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hi @Liz H could you send me an email bradley@spoilertv.com and I'll try and sort this out for you :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm even later! Is there any cake left? :)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sideroom! Under the china plate with the Fleur De Lis pattern. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  21. *waits for the inevitable screaming after Jessica's latest picture.* :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Just seen it, need wine now...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Lol We're going to have to restock the cellar!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Some people will probably need a double dose. The crucifix really seems to be gone!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm there Knitty.....gobble gobble gobble...none left now! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nice photo! Cheers for the heads up Knitty :)

  27. I can't decide whether Aramis is going grey, he's in bright light or if he has plaster dust in his hair. He definitely isn't pure brown there!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hmm yeah, the same could be said for Porthos too, so I'm wondering if they have a lamp on them as they film?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely double dose. Maybe triple to get over the mourning period.

He looks a bit tired there, though. And like he could use a brush. Or, ya know, a haircut...and a crucifix while we're at it. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jessica just answered a tweet of someone asking whether the fact that season 3 picks up 4 years after season 2 means that all the Musketeers have been away at war for 4 years with "yes". ALL of them? So no Monkateer after all?

    ReplyDelete
  31. If he's spent the last four years either kneeling or sitting on his butt contemplating the universe, no wonder a swordy workout with Porthos is tiring him out. He needs a bootcamp!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Great photo. Thanks for posting it on here and the new thread. Jessica seems to pick good photos to share with us.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I'd caution taking any statement in the absolutely literal sense. She might not have meant that.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Gosh, I almost started to cry when I noticed that the crucifix is nowhere to be seen... :'( *prayer circle that it's not gone forever* Or else I'll need lots of that wine or maybe some other heavy alcohol lol... I'm way too attached to it, I thought we were on the same page Aramis!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Which episode/s did you go for?

    ReplyDelete
  36. No time for fancy thing in war. lol
He really looks more "spartan". No crucifix, no necklace, not even a proper cut of hair.
I imagined they were speaking during the fight.

    ReplyDelete
  37. He (and everyone except D'Art) is like that in every pic, now i'm convinced he's definitely going grey. Even Howie in his insta pic of Porthos was in a "grey hair zone".

    ReplyDelete
  38. And Porthos :)

    https://twitter.com/PopeJessica/status/606575367575478272

    ReplyDelete
  39. That really is spectacular armour, now we can see it close up. How does he get into it?? Looks like the arm bits are welded on!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Lots of buckles and straps usually, which is why knights needed a page boys to help them in and out of it all, lol. I'm kind of surprised that Porthos is wearing so much armour really, it was pretty useless by this point as musket shots went straight through it, most soldiers didn't wear it as it slowed them down. I guess Porthos is the 'tank', so can take the weight and still brawl with it on is the thinking behind it?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can't imagine he gets out of it very often, so it probably reeks. Maybe that's why d'Artagnan's armour is as teeny as possible. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have to say that I'm liking his, and Athos', hair quite a lot this year. It looks great on them :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Trial and Punishment :) Also Through a Glass Darkly for one of my other votes because I love that one too ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ok will email you tomorrow :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cool, no rush :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Good choices :) I've seen someone vote for The Accused too. I'm hoping we get at least one episode nominated, then we'll have to rally the troops for the voting stage, lol

    ReplyDelete
  47. Both of his necklaces are gone......maybe he renounced all of his worldly possessions. Don't cry yet....I'm not. I think he will put on his jewelry when he puts on the leather! I feel so silly even caring about the crucifix.

Jessica.....see what you've done to us lol

    He does look beautiful.....sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Thanks Sandi (and Knitty) :))
Great pic from Jess once again ❤
What do we think is going on? Are they practising? But Aramis has very intense look and he has two swords...is Porthos parrying his blade to stop him kebab-ing someone out of shot? Oooh.
No crucifix :-(( but well done costume for forgetting shirt buttons ;-D

    ReplyDelete
  49. I could have voted for that one too! Fingers crossed we get one nominated :))

    ReplyDelete
  50. It looks like just the boys sparring to me. All that wood behind, could it be the garrison?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yeah that's where I thought it was, and I assumed sparring also but when I looked again I wasn't sure. Maybe just reading too much into it ;) I haven't studied it closely

    ReplyDelete
  52. d'Artagnan had two swords when he was practising with Athos in The Challenge.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I guess so, and he has the biggest, showiest hat so he has to have same with his armour lol. It is spectacular, I'd love to see a close up of all the detailing.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Yes they have done it before so perhaps it's just that - sparring but intense stare of concentration

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm so happy to see the two of them paired up ^__^ I'm wondering if Porthos is having some catch up time with his buddy, while Aramis gets back into the swing of using his sword again after his time in the monastery...if that is where he's been.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Yay! More people! The Return is the other episode I almost went for, but that's mostly because I love Athos so much and I wanted as much of a chance for the voting round so I went with the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh man, 4 years!? Could we have little D'Artagnan/Constance babies!?

    ReplyDelete
  58. Isn't that the top of his gauntlet on his left hand? It is a bit of an odd angle, he could be on his horse, or perhaps he's just jumped over that mound behind him for cover?

    ReplyDelete
  59. /Isn't that the top of his gauntlet on his left hand?/

Ah yes, you're right. I forgot Porthos has big ones! :P

I think he's on a horse. His posture looks more like he's sitting than standing.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Yeah, I think you're right. I get the feeling he's surveying the battlefield before leaving at the end of the fighting. Gotta be tough on anyone :(

    ReplyDelete
  61. So am I. I love their friendship.

    ReplyDelete
  62. My first feeling was that he is undergoing a little Porthos' bootcamp session. He may be out of practice?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I have now voted - The Accused was my first choice.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Great pic...:)

    ReplyDelete
  65. I still can't get over Porthos's armour at the side of what Athos and d'Artagnan are wearing...
He does look a bit older in S3, I wonder if the producers have intentionally done that with Athos, Aramis and Porthos to signify time really moving forward?

    ReplyDelete
  66. Older or just more weary? In most pics they look very serious.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hi , thanks for all the updates on the series , such a nice work !! I was wondering , will the shooting go on throughout summer, or will they stop in July or August ?

    ReplyDelete
  68. they should be filming until October or November, with very few breaks..

    ReplyDelete
  69. They certainly look a bit different, whether 'older' is the right word, I'm not sure.

We've got a four year jump, so they need to have aged a little, especially as the writers need d'Artagnan to be older before he can really become the great Musketeer and by default, the others need to be getting older too.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Me too Sandi :)) yeah he'd need to get some real practice in. If indeed he has been there...

    ReplyDelete
  71. Yes my thoughts too, is some tactical voting needed here lol

    ReplyDelete
  72. Is it OK to post this in here since Justyna on STV (happy birthday!) and it's a series 3 pic ? Please delete Sandi if not :)

    https://twitter.com/PopeJessica/status/606738079450202112

    ReplyDelete
  73. Email sent Bradley :)

    ReplyDelete
  74. Of course, it's a great photo of him...that makes two in less than twelve hours! Jess is spoiling us, lol. And a lovely treat for Justyna who does the reviews here on the site, happy birthday hun x

I wondered if this was him coming back to the garrison for the first time?

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hi there Isabel, welcome to the site! Thanks :-)

They will be filming all through summer up until November time, as Tigercheetah says. Block two starts next week I believe, and there will be five blocks of filming in total - two episodes in each block. Some actors will get more time off than others, but they should all get a week or so off every now and then throughout the process while the production team set up the next block.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Could just be a bog-standard wristguard with a Fleur de Lis on it...

    ReplyDelete
  77. Have we heard from Justyna tonight or is she still in a puddle on the floor from this morning?!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Just seen another photograph of twitter, not sure where it has surfaced from? Tom, Howie and Luke

    ReplyDelete
  79. It says underneath via Jessica Pope FB.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I didn't understand that.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Facebook, I presume. I'm not over there so I've no idea if it's legit or stolen.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Another picture is circulating on Tumblr now., with three of the guys, can't see where its from. Is is not on Jessica's Twitter

    ReplyDelete
  83. It's already been mentioned below. Best we wait for further advice before anyone posts it here. I hope things aren't illegally being leaked out already, though. :( The last thing we need is them clamping down even more on what we see before it airs. Hopefully it will be ok'd!

    ReplyDelete
  84. Sorry I missed Ares post, for some reason I can only get updates through refreshing the page and no longer automatically. I haven't posted anything because I couldn't see a source.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sometimes it takes me a few goes to refresh properly. I think it's just a quirk of this kind of site/format!

Yes, the source given is a bit ambiguous. As it's not come straight from Jessica's account, I'm wary. The frustrating thing is some of the people posting/reposting it there are folks who shared the illegal pictures last year.. It's a shame, because they just make it harder for everyone if they post stolen images. Not saying this one is stolen, I've no clue either way, but if they're posted on Twitter by particular people, I stay well clear.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Lovely photo. We're definitely be spoilt right now and I like that.

    ReplyDelete
  87. That's a whacking great lump he's got on his head. No wonder he's squinting!

    ReplyDelete
  88. We really are getting spoiled....I love it! It makes the long wait for season 3 a little easier!

Also, I see we are trending now on this site! I think that's pretty good considering we are between seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  89. LOL not at all surprised if she is!

    ReplyDelete
  90. Dangerous stuff, this musketeering :-D It seems to match this one in previous pic so maybe taken from same scene(s)

    ReplyDelete
  91. Aww yes a lovely thing for Jess to do :) Yes it could be, see my comment above about the bruise/lump above his eye matching previous pic so from the same scene?

    ReplyDelete
  92. When I saw the pic with the FB mention I searched for Jessica Pope's page but found nothing - so was a bit wary of it. Nobody seems to know exactly the source.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm sure Sandi will get to the bottom of it ASAP!

    ReplyDelete
  94. Well,if it turns out to be legal we have really been spoiled bij Jessica these last 24 hours. I am getting a very strong 'how the gang got back together'-vibe as the main theme for the first episode. And that's just fine by me.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Thank you for the wishes! Love the photo ;)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thank you again, hun! :)
Good to see Aramis with everyone else!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I'm here! :) Took a long time, though, lol ;)
Love the photo. Such an awesome birthday surprise!

    ReplyDelete
  98. I've found her fb page but i wasn't aware of her having one.
There are some personal pics too, so it seems to be an account she doesn't use often, but "it seems" is not a confirmation. (Even if the pic is marked with the usual "property of the bbc")

    ReplyDelete
  99. Guys, I'm sure if Jessica wanted us to have a new pic she'd just post it the usual way, on Twitter, like she has for every other one.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Heard from Jess now, she's fine for the photo to be shared :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. Lol, and I'd warned you beforehand too! Jess said she wanted to make sure that you saw it as she'd found a perfect photo for you ;)

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yay! I'll get my wet wipes out. ;) Oh how I miss the Scoob!

    :P

    ReplyDelete
  103. From the looks of their faces, they could well be missing her too! lol :p

    ReplyDelete
  104. Thanks Sandi Definitely been spoilt by Jess with this one - I shall mull over as I drift off to sleep with happy thoughts! :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. She certainly is!! Thanks Jessica for another fabulous pic :)))) ❤

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'm sure there's an old joke about 'three men in a ditch' but it might not be appropriate here!!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Glad to see it's legal, were are getting spoilt this week

    ReplyDelete
  108. and Aramis wasn't a Musketeer at the end of series 2 anymore either :(. But I like your theory better :)

    ReplyDelete
  109. Another great photo. Isn't that 3 in a couple of days? I'm loving Jessica's generosity at the moment.
I hope for the actors' sake that it's not too hot where they're filming because they'd swelter even more in those outfits than they would have done in their standard musketeer uniform.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Thanks Jess! Very, very, very much!
The massive leak of last season spread a big bunch of paranoia.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I probably know the answer to this one since my comp is being a PITA lately, but does anyone else have trouble opening the Disqus notifications and instead get a gigantic black triangle across the screen???

    ReplyDelete
  112. do anyone know if there will be some full scale war between spain and france?

    ReplyDelete
  113. It looks like there will be some pretty heavy fighting going on in the first two episodes going by the state of the guys in some of the photos. They aren't holding back on the blood splattering this year it seems, and they are getting fairly grimy too by the looks of it.

I don't know how much we'll see through the rest of the season yet though. Historically, most of the actual fighting took place over near what is now Germany, but we don't know if they are actually following the Thirty Years War here or not. If they are, the four year gap means that Spain will be forging ahead and the fighting reaches the outskirts of Paris itself, before the tide turns and France pushes back again.

We also seem to be getting a taste of the political side of things with the two baddies announced - one at court and one in the new Paris slums set.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I'm afraid I haven't had that happen. I've had it take a while to open on other pages on the site, but this one has been ok so far.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Just me again, then. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  116. Me neither Knitty - hope you can sort it! It does misbehave from time to time and is very slow loading sometimes, but seems ok ATM.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Because it's good news for The Musketeers as well as Luke, here he is with his award for 'The Times Breakthrough Artist of the year' at the South Bank Awards, which will be shown on Sky Arts on Wednesday night..

    ReplyDelete
  118. Let's hope it's onwards and upwards for his career.
A great storyline for d'Artagnan in S3 would help with that too..

    ReplyDelete
  119. New pic from Jessica!

    https://twitter.com/popejessica/status/607939407274999808

Constance in the background, it seems. is that the garrison?

    ReplyDelete
  120. From all the ropes behind her, it looks like the same place as her first pic. I think it's probably the garrison.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Yeah, it could be the same scene her first pic was from. Based on their expressions, I wonder if they're having a bit of an argument.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I found myself wondering that, then determined that I'm NOT going to speculate to the realms of paranoia over every picture before S3, like I did last year! It's exhausting and I'm nearly always wrong. ;) Hopefully they're still on speaking terms though...

    ReplyDelete
  123. It is certainly very difficult to say anything certain based on a couple of random screencaps, but I would also hope that by now they can have an argument or a spat and still be on speaking terms, LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I read an interesting tidbit on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_of_Austria) : Apparently the favorite lady-in-waiting/confidante for the real Anne in Austria married for love soon after the death of her first husband (Anne being a strong supporter of this relationship) and was then exiled (from the court, I presume) during the war against Spain because they wanted to keep the Spanish queen in check. Not saying this is what's happened here, but it's always interesting to speculate a bit ;)

    ReplyDelete
  125. It does sound very similar to Constance! Hopefully she's not exiled though!

    ReplyDelete
  126. The major difference from the real case here is that Marie's (that was the name of the confidante of the real Anne) husband wasn't a Musketeer. Not sure if they could pull off the "Exiled from Court" plot here in a believable manner.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Yeah, it was me that suggested that perhaps she was using her skills learnt from Lemay on the soldiers. It would make sense I think that she'd want to be close to her new husband, and it wasn't uncommon for women to be just behind the front line, or at a base camp to help the army. If we're seeing the guys at the garrison in the first block of filming, then they aren't fighting too far away, and if any injured were being brought back, then it's where I'd expect her to be take care of them.

    ReplyDelete
  128. That's great news for Luke and the show. Thanks for sharing and congratulations to him.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Also Constance isn't the kind of woman to stand back wringing her hands and praying ineffectually that God will stop the war. She's practical, and will want to do anything she can to help, including getting her hands dirty. Her work with Lemay is an obvious and perfect way of bringing her into the grim reality of frontline warfare, and keep her close to her husband.

    ReplyDelete
  130. Jessica is amazing at sharing photos at the moment. It's nice that we've had them showing most of the main cast. Is Queen Anne/Alexandra Dowling the only one we're missing now? As someone who likes the pretty dresses, I am looking forward to seeing on of her but I'm more than content for now with all of Jessica's kindness.

    ReplyDelete
  131. I'm thinking perhaps the reason Anne is being kept out of shot is that her costumes might be quite telling as to the state of not only France, but the court itself. If there's austerity going on outside in the streets, Anne being a sympathetic and understanding Queen won't want to be flaunting her wealth while the people suffer, so what she's wearing when we next see her could be quite spoilery.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I do like the idea of Constance using the skills Lemay taught her - really think that's a good way to have her interact with the other characters.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Right with you there Knitty!!!!! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  134. This is such good knews for Luke - he so deserves it and he looks so happy to receive the reward. He is a true gentleman. This will be good knews for the show too - let's hope more people will now give TM a go.

    ReplyDelete
  135. The problem with them being set up at the garrison is that in the hypothetical situation that they now have a child/children, are they really going to be raising them at a soldiers' garrison?? Highly unlikely. I reckon the questions surrounding their domestic situation are going to be the one that bugs me the most until we get answers! Forget the war and the inevitable threat to the crown, these questions are far more important. :)

    ReplyDelete
  136. It reminds me of a scene in Big Bang Theory where Penny and Leonard are
arguing late at night. He stomps off to her apartment in his pajamas,
and she says, "what are you doing?" He yells, "Isn't sex after arguing
kinda what we do now?!" And she goes "Oh, yeh!" and follows him. :P

LOL I can just see it happening in 17th century Paris!

    ReplyDelete
  137. It's won two awards now. The BBC should be showing that off, not burying S3 in the schedules and ignoring it.

    ReplyDelete
  138. ITA agree Helen :) So pleased for Luke, and the show!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. Totally - I am still dreading the day when we find out the scheduling of S3. Let's hope the BBC does wake up and take note that this show is superb and gives it the slot that it deserves!

    ReplyDelete
  140. Yes there was a burnt out house IIRC. They don't look very happy here for whatever reason :-/

Thanks to Jessica for sharing another pic, she is spoiling us and it's great XD

    ReplyDelete
  141. Exactly. Just look at that adorable li'l grinny face, how can you not give that a prime time Sunday night slot?? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  142. Maybe Constagnan have a house near the Garrison, rather than in it?

I've said before that I'd rather Constance isn't living at the palace any more because it won't feel like they're married if she is..

    ReplyDelete
  143. Wonderful pic of d'Artagnan..

I hope we aren't getting any Constagnan arguements in the first one or two episodes, hopefully it's sadness we're seeing here.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Oh I'm sure they're together, somewhere, and not at the palace. So the options are the garrison - a bit iffy when they want a bit of 'us' time with a load of soldiers sleeping on the other side of the walls; Bonacieux's house, which would raise questions of how are they affording it, or somewhere in the slums, which I can't see either.

Maybe they've got a little caravan parked by the Seine? Cheaper than a house, and far more private than a garrison!! :P

    ReplyDelete
  145. If Constance is still working for the Queen - just not living at the palace anymore - maybe she gets quite a modest income, to be able to afford Bonacieux's house?
But yes, wondering about Constagnan's living arrangements is going to drive some of us mad over the next few months :) as well as wanting to know whether the producers have chosen to give them children.

  146. It is an incredible gorgeous grin, isn't it???;)

    ReplyDelete
  147. I wondered whether they're hiding a pregnancy storyline for Queen Anne and that has meant that they don't want to release photos of her but you may well be right.

    ReplyDelete
  148. That could work quite well actually, having her pregnant with Philippe. Having children during war time must have been stressful, yet there is also the need for the 'spare' after having produced the heir, as the saying goes. If Constance is also pregnant, as we suspect she may be too, it could also strengthen their bond too I feel.

    ReplyDelete
  149. The pregnant Queen story has been done, though. She needs a new focus now, like protecting the young dauphin. If there is a pregnancy story, more likely it will be Constance.

    ReplyDelete
  150. You may be right but we didn't really see her pregnant because the end of S1 was her announcing the pregnancy and then the start of S2 she gave birth. It may also be different because it was Aramis's baby rather than the King's. Personally, I'd prefer the Queen to be pregnant than Constance because Queen Anne lives a less active life being at the palace and it's less likely to have the potential to restrict storylines for the character. I can totally understand why fans would hope to see Constance pregnant, though.

    ReplyDelete
  151. My views would probably seem controversial but I don't like the idea of pregnancy becoming a main focus of either women. As you say it has been covered with Anne already and to repeat would be a big yawn I'm afraid.

    ReplyDelete
  152. I am intrigued to know why you suspect Constance is pregnant - i wonder if i have missed something.

    ReplyDelete
  153. I'm not crazy about it either. Existing kids already there, fine, but not a pregnancy storyline, for either of them.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Anne has had the pregnancy/baby story last time. I appreciate the fact that, historically, she had another child around this time, but since when have the writers stuck to the script?

As for Constance and D'Artagnan - i accept that after four years, in this age, if everything was ok, the pair should have a child or possibly expecting one, and i also accept that there has to be a break in the episodes to show a life beyond the four, but to me, it comes back to: what do i want from the series - and for me personally, domestic angst, lots of babies etc. just leaves me soporific.

  155. Unless there's something physically wrong with d'Artagnan or Constance, a loving and passionate marriage ( we assume ) should result in children eventually. I wouldn't need those children to be part of an actual storyline, just there as a natural progression of a happy marriage in the 17th century and as something extra on d'Artagnan's mind as he's away from home.

Drama involving Anne and babies / heirs to the throne was done in S2, though again if Anne and Louis have had their second child without any fanfare this time, fair enough.

  156. New pic from Jessica...! So beautiful, I love this look :-D

  157. I don't think you missed anything. There has been a lot of discussion about this and it just seems natural that (if everything is allright with both partners) a child could have been born/be on the cards after 4 years of marriage in the 17th century. Most people do not seem to want fertility issues as a subject. And we haven't seen much of Anne and Constance yet, that fuels discussion of course. Personally I think that this means that ep 1. and 2 will be mostly boys only...

    ReplyDelete
  158. And three seconds after I write this a pic of Anne appears....

    ReplyDelete
  159. She looks lovely, both Anne and Alexandra.

    ReplyDelete
  160. She really does :) Wonder who she is smiling at?!

  161. //Personally I think that this means that ep 1. and 2 will be mostly boys only...//

I agree :) It will be intriguing to see if Constance and D'Art have a child or children already or if they are going to work it into S3. As others have said I'd like it (pregnancy) to be a natural progression rather than a storyline in itself, although it's very feasible for Constance and a baby/child to get caught up in certain war scenarios.

And for both dramatic and story reasons, I really hope the Queen is not pregnant with a child by Louis, and certainly not in the context of their marriage now being a happy one. Given what has happened to this point in this version, that would be stretching credulity too far ;-)

  162. The toddler Dauphin? It looks like a proud mothers' look

    ReplyDelete
  163. Yes it could be... ;) Jess posted another pic, she is so good! Full length shot this time, and you can just see Rupert Everett/Marquis in background.

  164. I definitely like this pic the most.
I'm not a fan of light colors, but this dress has a "Milady's style" corset, (without the light blue part) so i can deal with it.
I like that she's walking straight forward, has no smile, determinate look, and the Marquis behind her with a Severus Snape's vibe.

    ReplyDelete
  165. Definately a new look for Anne..

    ReplyDelete
  166. She seems... i don't know. Alexandra is young but of course she's
playing the Queen and four years has passed, so they had to age her too
(or is just the way she smile, idk), and the dress is more like... well,
something you wear before going to bed.
    I don't know.
    For me, is odd.
Glad for the second pic, though.

    ReplyDelete
  167. I'd happily forgotten about Everett until I saw that pic. #sigh Ali looks lovely tho.

    ReplyDelete
  168. Yes, back to sexy neckline of beautiful green and gold 'Aramis' dress of S1 which she wore also in S2 but with lace fichu to cover up cleavage from Rochefort lol!

    ReplyDelete
  169. ;-D As Celiane says below, he's def channeling a Severus Snape vibe...

    ReplyDelete
  170. I think it's all speculation at the moment Ares - nothing is known for sure!

    ReplyDelete
  171. Just what the show needs. Not.

    ReplyDelete
  172. I noticed that too!! And it was so disturbing! They covered her up any time they could in S2. (Except for her last scene in 2x10)

    ReplyDelete
  173. And talking about resemblance, in this pic Ali almost seems Holliday Grainger. Loving her new hairstyle.

    ReplyDelete
  174. Or the King. "Yes dear, you are so very kingly" haha

    ReplyDelete
  175. Finally! I am not disappointed. Hayley is really doing a great job this year.

  176. "although it's very feasible for Constance and a baby/child to get caught up in certain war scenarios."

That's why i would find believable to see Constance say that now is not the right moment. Having a baby is a huge thing, and it is even more huge if you're in the slumbs helping people, or a nurse helping soldiers, or helping the Queen in the shadows while doing one of the previous things.
Constance is great, but that would be stressful to say the least. And i also can imagine her wanting her child to born in a more safe environment. I'm not saying she has or want to wait for the war being over because it would makes no sense (no one can know for sure how the war can last) but at least wait for the situation in Paris to be calmer.

Just hoping that won't be matter of discussion between her and D'Art. Just hoping that the baby thing will be normally addressed, like : "we decided to wait, we both are cool with that idea". No drama. And no more babies.

  177. Wow.....so beautiful. I love her new hair!

    ReplyDelete
  178. Jessica is awesome. Now we know The Queen is not pregnant lol

    Thanks for posting Liz!

  179. She really is talented.....looking forward to seeing more of her designs!

    ReplyDelete
  180. enjoying catching up, hi everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  181. I mean, they're both basically 4 year olds right?

    ReplyDelete
  182. I'm afraid i don't like the hair, it makes her look - dare i say it - almost middle aged! It's a perm my gran, bless her, would have had. Maybe it's the neckline of the dress but the looked has aged her terribly.

And before anyone says it - i don't just mean 4 years.

    ReplyDelete
  183. Seeing him behind the Queen has, apart from Everett himself, confirmed another of my worst fears - more court shenannigans.

As Athos might say - i was 100% done with all that last series.

    ReplyDelete
  184. The thing is though, there was no reliable contraception in the 17th century, so unless d'Artagnan has been away at war for 90% of their marriage or one of them has a physical problem, Constagnan should either already have a child or have a bun in the oven as it were. I can't imagine Constagnan having little or no sex, that was possibly one of the issues facing Bonacieux/Constance and Louis/Anne when it came to a lack of children.
Anne became pregnant with Aramis's child after just one night together, so the idea that Constagnan are childless after four years of presumably happy and 'passionate' marriage isn't realistic, unless like I say, one of them has a physical problem or d'Artagnan has been away.

    ReplyDelete
  185. /That's why i would find believable to see Constance say that now is not the right moment./

How would she avoid it? It's not like she can just nip down the local doctor's surgery and get herself on the pill. 17th century family planning advice was 'don't have sex'. Hardly likely, given who she's married to.

    ReplyDelete
  186. Let's hope the director keeps things reined in.

    ReplyDelete
  187. :) I should have made it clearer that I meant Constance with baby/child already, rather than getting pregnant. I don't think Constance would want to send her child away, even if it was safer thing to do or even possible. Palace would be safest place for them but Constance seems to be in the slums? in the pics we've seen. Which would make it likely for them to be caught up in whatever dangers are going on there...

I agree it would be difficult for Constance to have child and be helping people, or nursing soldiers, but it could be done, and she is very capable ;)

    ReplyDelete
  188. //so unless d'Artagnan has been away at war for 90% of their marriage or
one of them has a physical problem, Constagnan should either already
have a child or have a bun in the oven as it were.//

These would be the only two reasons I could see for them not having children yet. The first one is most likely, it's possible that they've not been able to get together very often with war going on.

    ReplyDelete
  189. Thanks for sharing the photos. It's nice to see the Queen and she definitely doesn't look pregnant. Is it just me or do her dresses look a bit less grand than in the past? I think someone (I forget who, sorry) mentioned earlier in the thread that they might be toned down due to war, which makes a lot of sense and it looks like they've done that to me.

    ReplyDelete
  190. I'm not the biggest fan of her hair either. I guess it must be quite hard to age the characters 4 years when the actors have only aged 1 and sometimes they put too much emphasis on it and it looks too much, which I think is what they've done here. Maybe that's something they'll work out more as the series progresses and they fine-tune everything.

    ReplyDelete
  191. I honestly can't see anything wrong with her hair. Looks fine to me, not 'granny-like' at all.

    ReplyDelete
  192. I just think the whole photo (of her sitting) looks rather matronly and the hair is what sets it off.

If i'm honest, i am not as enamoured as others with the lace top over the dress - it looks like something older ladies would wear in bed over their nightwear.

However, the full length picture with the Prince of Darkness in the background looks better.

    ReplyDelete
  193. Anne's S3 look is certainly a bit different to the more Queen-ish looks of S1 and S2, so either it will grow on people or it won't.

All this talk of dresses and hair is leaving me wanting to see the boys in something new, we've been promised new looks for the boys by both Jessica and the new stylist, so fingers crossed for the relevant images soon.
