TVGuide.com has confirmed that a new actor that has yet to be cast will take over the role after Austin's decision to exit earlier this year. "The announcement [about who it is] will be forthcoming, but right now [Jesus] is at boarding school wrestling to his heart's content and we'll be checking in with him," executive producer Peter Paige told us. "It'll be a little while [before we see him]."

  1. Not surprise

  2. The writers had the perfect opportunity to kill off the character in the car accident, which seems preferable than recasting the role.

  4. That's a shame I hate to say it but the writers just seemed to have to many storyline going on they kind of forgot about Jesus I wished he didn't leave but I understand unless there is another reason that he left that idk about.

  5. Ugh I hate recasts. They should've either killed him off or had Jake come back every now & then when he's free

  6. I totally agree and recasts are never in my experience better than the original.

  7. I detest recasts... it's just weird and awkward for me. Deaths are so traumatic, but goodness, you just had Jesus at the grips of death... maybe he should have died. Just my opinion.

  8. Recasts are pointless unless there's a legitimate reason.

  9. Word on the gossip sites us that jake was very rude to people behind stage in one of the award ceremonys and he acted like he was above people and he also got a dui last year or the year before. In conclusion hes very problematic and its better he got out now before he started acting like this again.

  10. Honestly don't mind at all. While I detest recasts (and had already warmed up to the idea of Jesus dying over the break), I don't think I'll miss Jake much as Jesus onscreen (aside maybe from thinking of the years we'd seen him as the character with the rest of the cast). I liked him well enough as Max on Wizards when i was younger, but his performance on the Fosters was just so cringe-worthy for me, I did just that during most of the Jesus-centric scenes on the show. Just my two cents. (Curious to know if I'll get hate for this comment.)

I wonder if, when they wrote in the accident, the writers did that with Jake's resignation (firing?) from the show in my mind. Like did they really plan on killing the character off or not, and if so, did the decision to keep him alive and just recast him come after. Anyone know if that has been discussed/answered before?
