Scorpion - Season 2 - Alana De La Garza to Recur

Jun 24, 2015

Coming off playing the female lead on the ABC drama Forever, Alana De La Garza has been tapped for a recurring role on the second season of CBS’ Scorpion. On the action drama, she’ll play the smart, tough and driven new Head of Homeland Security who needs the Scorpion team to be successful, but is it because it’s best for the team or because it’s best for her? De La Garza’s character will succeed Homeland Security Director Merrick (David Fabrizio) who in the Season 1 finale relegated Cabe (Robert Patrick) to a desk job at the Pomona airport, prompting Cabe to quit. The Season 2 opener, slated for Sept. 21, will find Cabe taking a job as a Hollywood tech advisor until he is summed back by the new head of Homeland Security to reassume his old position as a liaison for the Scorpion team.

  3. Really "needs the Scorpion team to be successful, but is it because it’s best for the team or because it’s best for her?" you mean if it was best for her, why even change the bald guy... I probably know the answer, but I hate when they ask this question.

  4. Been a fan of de la Garza since her days in Law and Order. Hopefully she does good on this one. :)

  5. That's great. I like her a lot. I know the role is only recurring and she could leave anytime, but maybe joining an ensemble show like Scorpion might be a good move for her?

  6. So I guess this means Forever is officially dead with zero chance of it being picked up by another network:( That makes me sad because it was my favorite show, but on the positive side I will get to see Alana because I absolutely loved her as Jo. Now if they can get Ioan back on my screen somehow? There will never be a character quite like Henry though! He and Jo were magic together! As was the show.

  7. Hope she is better than the other guy!

  8. I find myself having to suspend belief more than I want to when it comes to the cases too, but for the most part I stick it out for the characters...

  9. I've watched well beyond my level of suspended belief. The characters didn't change - they maintained their own stereotypical behavior right throughout the season. It was the same each week. Alana De La Garza is too good an actor to associate herself with this bunch in my opinion. She can do a lot better.

  10. I'll agree that the show overall has quite a few faults. And I won't disagree that the characters are stereotypical.

But I will argue that, slow as it was, there was some character growth... And the dynamics between some members of the team really worked for me.
But I can see how the show might in fact not appeal to everyone and how the show can come off more annoying than smart and/or quirky. (I get that feeling often too, just not enough to personally bother me)

But I not for one second do I think Alana De La Granza is selling herself short here. It's a decent ensemble, and it's a successful show.
