San Diego Comic-Con 2015 - Marvel Studios isn't Attending

Thanks to arrowshieldfan for the heads up.

San Diego Comic-Con just got a bit duller. Marvel Studios is not staging a major Hall H presentation next month for its Marvel upcoming feature films, I’ve learned. That cedes the stage for Warner Bros-based DC, which will be holding a significant presentation to introduce the Zack Snyder-directed Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Suicide Squad, both of which reach theaters next year, followed by the Gal Gadot starrer Wonder Woman and Justice League, Part One, which arrive in 2017. It is a real opportunity for Warner Bros to impress the fanboys, and it seems likely that Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and others will be front and center to feel that superhero love.

With so many hit franchises in working order, Marvel’s Kevin Feige just doesn’t have anything new to show this year. That happened in 2011, the last time Marvel skipped the Con. Too bad, because Marvel panels rarely disappoint, going back to 2009, when Robert Downey Jr took the stage and gave a whole Tony Stark performance for Iron Man 2. The following year was crazier, with the full cast of The Avengers being introduced. In 2012, the Guardians Of The Galaxy cast was announced, the Iron Man 3 trailer revealed, and Edgar Wright showed groundbreaking footage of Ant-Man, which at the time he was directing until he fell out with Feige over creative differences.

  1. I'm glad Marvel Entertainment is separate because I'm looking forward to AoS and Agent Carter's panel.

  3. It's always been a ongoing rumor, this is just official confirmation for those who want to know :)

  4. Well, that's somewhat of a bummer.

I remember the Age of Ultron panel last year pretty much just got to introduce everyone, and by the time they'd covered everyone, the panel was already over. It was kind of disappointing, to be honest. So maybe this is for the best.. Give me substance, or nothing at all.

  5. So the rumor becomes fact.

Fascinating. Totally unexpected because this is the prime of the MCU right now with it doing so well.

And on the other side of the fence now, this needs to be the year Warner Brothers does something special when it comes to DC. Really push their cinematic universe at Comic-Con.

  6. Is that true? AoS and AC will show up?

Any news on the Netflix counterparts showing up then?

  7. Okay, still don't know why my comment had to be deleted. Ridiculous.

  8. I honestly didn't do that. I can't anyway, I don't have any power too. Sorry.

  11. Forgot the year Tom Hiddleton came out in full Loki costume to introduce the avengers panel

  12. They most likely will. The TV division is completely separate from the movie division.

  13. I'd much rather have a Marvel panel than a DC panel. It already feels different to think about SDCC without them. I'm not as excited. I wonder if the DC panel will be as fun as Marvel's. I kind of doubt it.

  15. So that DOESN'T include the shows? Because they're still Marvel.

  16. Nope. It's weird and confusing but Marvel Studios is the film side of it while Marvel Entertainment is the TV side of it.

  17. Officially confirmed then... and seeing as they don't have anything coming out in the fall I get it...

  23. Bummer..I'd heard the rumors,but I was kinda hoping they weren't true.
It's probably too soon for them to have any CA:Civil War footage.Still,it would be nice to see the whole cast and hear a few things about the movie.
Well,D23 will take place mid August,I think.Fingers crossed that we'll have something then.
