Reign - Season 3 - Rumor - Episode Order Reduced?
21 Jun 2015
ReignThanks to Andrea for letting us know about the ACTRA Toronto dates.
Earlier this year it was revealed that Reign had been renewed for a 22 episode 3rd season, however things may have changed since then. ACTRA Toronto is now listing Reign's production dates as beginning on June 30 and ending on December 2nd, far shorter then a full season.
For comparison, the 2nd season filmed from July 2014 till April 2015. Could Reign have had it's episode order reduced? We've reached out to The CW and will update if we hear anything.

I thought the end date was TBA?
ReplyDeleteIt was until we were shown ACTRA Toronto on twitter a little bit ago.
ReplyDeleteIf it's true then The 100 might takeover that slot assuming iZombie performs well. I'm not sure if The 100 and Whose line is it Anyway?are both compatible.
ReplyDeleteLittle more than 5 months, looks like a 13 episode season.
ReplyDelete13 episodes then. Reing sadly is ebcoming the enw BaTB... Sighs^and i like the shwo but s2 killed it.
ReplyDeleteIf this is true, Reign will be the next Beauty and the Beast (13 episodes season order). I wonder what show will replace Reign after it aired the entire third season on Fridays?
ReplyDeleteWow, apparently the almighty syndication isn't enough for the network to ignore the abysmal response to Reign's second season. I still think it will get it of course, but if ever there was a sign that this show is only being supported for money reasons, this is it.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the dates are just listed for the Christmas break and they will be back to shooting in January or maybe Reign's seasons going forward will be split in two like say Pretty Little Liars..
ReplyDeleteJune 30 til Dec 2nd is 22 weeks. Can they do a episode every week or ever ten days ? If they do a episode every 10 days that comes out to 16 episodes.
They were filming episode 13 in the beginning of December this past season so this puts it right on track for 13 episodes.
ReplyDeleteSo that means each episode takes 11 days to film.
ReplyDeletemaybe 13 episodes could help it with the way it's going.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think it's about 10 days or so, but they also have holidays as well that they give off.
ReplyDeleteShows generally shoot for 5 days with two days off, the days off are most likely weekends. Britt is right about Holidays. 22 weeks of shooting times 5 days a week to film minus Holidays. At most it would be 110 shooting days but figure two days off at Thanksgiving, Labor day, that would be 107 days. So that would be 8 days to actually shoot in episode, and if there are another other days off, some episodes might shoot in 7 days.
ReplyDeleteJune 30th to Dec 2nd is 154 days/22 weeks.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure it's 9 days per episode.
Possibly gonna take a break during the holidays. Has any other show cleared any dates for shooting in 2016?
ReplyDelete154 days minus 44 days (weekends they dont shoot on weekends) equals 110 days of shooting. 110 minus at least three Holidays (Thanksgiving, Labor day) is 107 days. 107 divided by 13 (number of episodes) equals 8.23. Some shows will have a little extra for that one or two episodes that are bigger than the other episodes (the iZombie finale took two extra days to film because of the fight scene) but the average episode of Reign is shoot in 8 days based on the information provided by this site.
ReplyDeleteSo I checked the website and most of the shows with end dates set in 2016 are all animated productions. All other live action shows will end production within 2015.
ReplyDeleteThis is possibly Reign wrapping up production just for the year and not for the season. Nothing to worry about if that was the case.
Hmmm a bit odd, but hope it's because of the holidays.
ReplyDelete'Reign's seasons going forward will be split in two'
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought. First part in fall and second in summer as a test, then probably moving to summer.
13 episodes here we come!
ReplyDeleteThey have no one to blame but themselves.Laurie Mccarthy an perfectly enjoyable show.It was flawed yet entertaining but this season was a hot mess. That reflected on the ratings surprising no one.
Could be that its tops in December for the holidays? On the other hand a reduced order would make sense given the limited space on the schedule, T100 and a possible back order of iZombie and Girlfriend with new shows already waiting in the wings make Reigns chance of airing a complete season somewhat unlikely. My best guess would be it airs on Friday in the Fall and then gets replaced mid season to possibly come back in the summer.
ReplyDeleteProbably the 100 even though i hope the 100 takes iZombies spot
ReplyDeleteI think it will have full season with first half airing until midseason and 2nd half in summer making it a summer shows starting Season 4
ReplyDeleteWell if Reign end in December or January this will be bad, because they'll put a great new show on Friday for example The 100 or Containment and we'll not be happy about it. The same thing happened with The Messengers when there was no timeslot available except Friday.
ReplyDeleteI think they'll put The 100 on Fridays (just to torture us) and Legends'of Tomorrow will take iZombies spot after The Flash.
ReplyDeleteI actually wouldn't mind this. I think it'd be a better way to split the 2 courts up then have us jumping back and forth each episode.
ReplyDeletePart A = The French Court (Mary)
Part B = The English Court (Elizabeth)
I would, cause I watch this only for Catherine and she's in England.
ReplyDeletePlease don't do that! It's already been moved to Fridays which I'm still not alright with because I enjoyed watching TVD & Reign pairup the same night. I want them to make up for last season, since they messed it up last season! And don't have it premiere in the summer, I don't want to wait that long as I feel it's not being given a fair chance!
ReplyDeleteI found it odd that the CW would announce a 22 episode renewal for them so early.
ReplyDeleteWith all of their other shows, hits and not so hot ones, they just announced renewals. We just got the episode order this week. Minus Jane/Reign.
How legit was that 22 order to begin with?
I actually enjoyed Season 2. Shippers just ruined the enjoyment of watching the season, honestly.
ReplyDeletei hope that is not write :(
ReplyDeleteGod hear you
ReplyDeleteDo not you remember that Brandy Danforth said the production company confirmed it was 22 episodes? I really hope it's a break, can be a CW test to see how the show will perform on Friday
ReplyDeleteCW didn't announce the 22 episodes third season,Take 5 the Candain production company did on BpFeb 11-"reign was green light for a 22 episode third season in Jan and BatB was renewed for a fourth season bringing its total to 70"..If it got a full season,it's cause CW want to get it to 70 episodes faster.Evfn if it didn't,they'll do like they did with BatB-2 13 episodes seasons
ReplyDeleteI hardly pay attention to Reign shippers as i don't ship Frary at all.The characters i do genuinely like are Katherine & Bash.Rest are annoying to me TBH.I watch the show for them.
ReplyDeleteI watch the show just for Mary because the show really centers on her. Seeing her at her best and worst is what makes her more human than most of the show's supporting players.
ReplyDeleteIMO, CW should timeshare Reign and The 100 on fridays.
ReplyDeleteThen renew both for final 4th seasons, finishing them with 70 and 55 episodes.
All right , i tweeted ReignWriters,Rachel Skarsten,Toby,Adealside,Torrance,Laurie to ask them to confirm Reigns episode order.I found phone numbers for both Take 5 Productions& WhizBsng Films.I found a email address for and sent an email to WhizBsng Films asking about it and posted a question about on Take 5s Facebook as well as emailed Micheal Ausiello at tvlune asking him about it.
ReplyDeleteI find this weird. The production compsny said it got a full season and I think if Caw shortened the season to 13 mtheyre would've moved it to summer
ReplyDeleteIt showed June to April.
ReplyDeleteThat makes it even more questionable to me. Why would the production company announce it months in advance of other shows and the network never bother to confirm or deny? Especially, months later, when they confirmed episode orders for the rest of their shows? I'm just saying until it is confirmed by The CW, we don't know. I hope the fans get their wish but I'm also a bit cynical going by word of mouth of other parties.
ReplyDeleteOk thanks.
ReplyDeleteTrue but I think the production company would know for sure though.Maybe it's changed since then with its 0.3s this spring & IZombie doing decadent?idk.
ReplyDeletePlease don't give up from Reign, CW
ReplyDeleteSome Answer?
ReplyDeleteTalk about being dilligent! Let us know when you hear something
ReplyDeleteI think that is the plan, regardless of the episode order of Reign. I think if Reign has 22 episodes, the second half will just air in the summer a la BATB Season 2 and The 100 will take over regardless.
ReplyDeleteI liked Mary just fine in season 1 but she lost any appeal she had in season 2 IMO.
ReplyDeleteIt's all about character development because a one can't exist without flaws.
ReplyDeleteHaha,I'm probably gonna be acussedcof stalking haha..I will definitely update you here when/8if I hear back.
ReplyDeleteNot yet, but it's the weekend & a holiday
ReplyDeleteWhat do you make of/think of all this? Like I said in Feb Tske 5 said it was a full season but the production dates indicate otherwise so I'm confused.
ReplyDeleteIt is not possible to be a break because of Christmas? Just wanted CW to rule soon, I think they trust Reign then and now so expect.
ReplyDeleteI don't know for sure but I'm starting think no cause in s1&s2,production dates were listed as June -Aoril for 22 episodes
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to lose my hopes, always I wanted 22 episodes for the third season and 13 for the fourth and probably last.
ReplyDeleteYeah.I don't know what to think :production company said one thing, production dates sayvanother( unless between June 30&Dec 2they can make 22 episodes)& Czw not confirming or denying anything .I said last season I wouldn't be suprised if it got Batzb trastmrnt( two short season if 13 episodes for seasons three & four) but wouldn't be suprised if it got a full third season & short fourth final one.
ReplyDeleteI think that iZombie will not get the back-9 order, Legends of Tomorrow takes its spot. Then, Jane/Crazy Ex goes to friday and Supernatural gets one spot on monday, and then The 100 airs on Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteI know it's a mess, but the CW knows that The 100 is a popular show overseas and just scored a 0.4 on the finale. They know that if they put The 100 on fridays, they're going to kill it (and it's a WB show, not a CBS one). Worst case scenario: The 100 gets pushed into summer.
The 100 is highly unlikely get a very good leadin for the third time,it's summer or Fri bound and Jane won't move to Fri-it's Thier most critical acclaimed award winning show ever and despite what Oedowitz says he knows The 100 won't have " aBB moment".
ReplyDeleteI remember Pedowitz saying something like that. In fact, my only reason to think that they'll ship Jane to fridays is because I don't have any faith in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and think that Jane is more compatible with Whose Line on fridays. Hart of Dixie did fine, so will Jane.
ReplyDeleteYeah well,HoD was close to syndication and not a AFI,Peabody,Globe winner and possible Emmy contender -Jane won't move to Frii til s3 or four and they also had four new shows Pkus WL IIA returning when they moved HoD to Fri ,they only have three new shows plus WL returning.Jane & WL might be both comedies but I see WL as older skewing, maybe more skewing and not a good gig with young female skewing Jane.
ReplyDeleteHere's my guesses :
ReplyDelete1 - iZombie just 13 episodes
2 - Crazy Ex-Girlfriend canceled and The 100 or Containment stays at 8
3 - If Reign gets 22 episodes, stays at fridays with Whose Line is it Anyway and The 100 goes to summer, if gets 13 episodes, The 100 stays at Fridays 8, and Containment at Mondays.
I agree,I think IZombie & Girkfriend both won't get backorders
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point.
ReplyDeletethe whole Mary/Conde/Francis ruined the show. The first seasonw as enjoyable. I love the inetraction ebtween Mary and teh giorls and then for s2 they placed the girl aside for the love triangule bs.
ReplyDeletewhat's so sad about it? BatB is still defying the odds
ReplyDeleteAhah probably. But it is for a good cause
ReplyDeleteI think both are possible so I really don't know. BATB, which seems to be a similar case to Reign, got only 13 episodes for Season 3, so it wouldn't be unprecedented.
ReplyDeleteIt's always left us in the lurch for holiday seasons! It's only because of Christmas. Never panic. If people will stay positive, it will be fine!
ReplyDeleteI've always said in past threads that the triangle is but a mere roadblock that Frary will eventually overcome and it did. People seem to have forgotten the first half of the season when it was Francis was the one frustrating element before the triangle was even solidified.
ReplyDeleteYou can't bring the same status quo from Season 1 to Season 2. We've already explored that as well as the innocence that these young characters once had but they all had to face reality of medieval times when everything can be taken away from them in just a whim: Aylee died, Lola got pregnant with a king's child, Kenna is officially a whore, and Greer was forced into pimping, Mary has grown accustomed to the darkness of power that has since filled her heart every passing day.
Teenagers had to be grown ups so early in their lives that there's nothing they could do to take their innocence back. And that is basically how Season 2 turned out to be. The politics and beliefs of those times defined those stories, from the triangle to the personal trials and tribulations that every single character in the show went through.
Perhaps it's due the fact they announced having 22 episodes through a Canadian industry website so it wasn't a formal press release coming from the CW itself but as far as I know have already settled with both the studios and other producing parties with working out the specifics.
ReplyDeleteI get that they will ahve to grow up but their searate stories were way betetr than the love triangule. I particularly like what they did with Greer how she oevrcome what happened to ehr and made a bussines for herself. Lola and Narsicce were better aired than the otehr and Kenna being her. That's what i liked about those final episodes not the love or not love between Francis and Mary.
