    Ratings Breakdown:
It was all about ABC last night care of the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Golden State Warriors on game one of the NBA Finals. Keeping in mind that results for any live sporting event are always approximate, the game one match-up (Warriors 108, Cavaliers 100) averaged an ample 12.9 rating/23 share in the household overnights in the 8 p.m.–12 a.m. block. Comparably, that was 28 percent above the 10.1/18 for Miami Heat at the San Antonio Spurs on the year-ago evening. And that game translated into 14.24 million viewers and a 5.7 rating/18 share among adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data).

Earlier in the evening on ABC (and also estimated) was an 8-8:30 p.m. edition of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” at a 3.2/ 6 in the overnights (#4), followed by the NBA Countdown at a 4.6/ 8 (#2) at 8:30 p.m. Needless to say, ABC will easily dominate in the national ratings this week.

In season premiere news, NBC drama “Hannibal” was left at the starting gate (which is nothing unusual, unfortunately) with a mere 1.8/ 3 in the household overnights (#3) in the 10 p.m. hour. Comparably, that dipped from week two (and episode three) of the 9:30 p.m. portion of lead-in drama “Aquarius” (2.6/ 4) by 31 percent, and it trailed an encore of CBS’ competing “Elementary” (#2: 3.1/ 5) by 42 percent. Overall, “Aquarius” averaged a 2.9/ 5 in the 9 p.m. hour, which was a loss of a hefty 29 percent from the 4.1/ 7 two episode opener one week earlier. And that resulted in 5.67 million viewers and a 1.1 rating/4 share among adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data). As a reminder, most new network series drop by 10 to 20 percent in week two.

In the 8 p.m. hour on NBC was veteran “Dateline” at a dominant 4.6/ 8 from 8-9 p.m.

    On CBS from 8-10 p.m. were encore telecasts of sitcoms “The Big Bang Theory” (#1: 5.1/ 9), “The Odd Couple” (#3: 3.7/ 6), “Mom” (#2: 3.8/ 6) and “Mike & Molly” (#2: 3.6/ 6).

Elsewhere, Fox dramas “Bones” (#4: 3.5/ 6) and “Wayward Pines” (#3: 3.0/ 5) were consistent from one week earlier. Worth positively noting for quirky “Wayward Pines” was overnight growth of 43 percent from failed year-ago time period occupant “Gang Related” (2.1/ 3 on 6/05/14). And The CW populated the evening with repeats of dramas “iZombie” (#5: 0.6/ 1) and “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 0.4/ 1).

  1. Hopefully WP holds the demo too though it feels really unlikely with NBA against it.

Sad for the amazing Aquarius and Hannibal :/

Will the almighty Sony move Hannibal to an online plataform?

Great show, Nielsen eyeballs to busy watching other things and unfortunately, it faces the NBA finals from the start.

    ReplyDelete
  3. ahh no Aquarius :/

    ReplyDelete
  4. Ouch for NBC
Hopefully Wayward stays above a 1

    ReplyDelete
  5. I think Hannibal is too dark for most viewers of network TV. It's such a great show. Mads Mikkelson, Hugh Dancy and Gillian Anderson are just perfect for this.

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think NBC will renew it regardless but if they dont, then i trust the sony gods!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Male skewing shows against NBA Finals is always a bad idea. NBC should have known better.

That being said, NBC will renew Hannibal. Ratings aren't a factor as NBC is just using it for critical fervor.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Horrible results for both Hannibal and Aquarius. Although, as Berman pointed out, not completely unsurprising.. NBC surely expected more with its "catch up" Hannibal promotion.

NBC's horrible week, sans Ninja Warrior and AGT which increased, continues. The Island, I Can Do That, Hannibal, and Aquarius took huge hits into cancellation territory. Or at least it should be as certainly, they can do better, even in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I hope wayward pines stays steady. I will watch tonight. I have really been loving that show! So excellent and creepy. Last episode i even jumped once because of what happened

    ReplyDelete
  10. Premiering a show against NBA finals? Really not that smart.
Besides that solid numbers for iZombie return.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I Can do that is safe as long as its behind AGT
    Anywhere else it would die

    ReplyDelete
  12. It probably will decline in the demos. I'm sure there's some crossover audience between that and NBA Finals.

To me, what's shocking is that there isn't as single FOX show in summer that will break a 1.5 this week. Even in summer, that's a real cause of concern. FOX is the home of a bunch of crumbling summer options and scripted shows that haven't found a wide audience. Hopefully for their sake, viewers will sample anything outside of Empire. Or it's a long season ahead.

    ReplyDelete
  13. yeah that ^^
I'm listening to tennis while reading the news.

    ReplyDelete
  14. That sounds terrible for hannibal. Oh NBC. Hopefully you have a better year starting September

    ReplyDelete
  15. That's the problem though, in week 2 its already below The Night Shift in demo and viewership. And we know its extended data. If it has to be protected, then IMO, its not needed. As AGT could be, and should be, used to launch something else next year.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I don't see any numbers why are people saying Hannibal did horribly?!?! I'm getting worried. There's no way that top 5 demo thing is right. No way a repeat of iZombie beats Hannibal in the demo.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I still waiting for the Sony gods to save Happy Endings...

    ReplyDelete
  18. No numbers have been released. Hannibal earned a 1.8/3 in HHs but as we know from history, it skews young. So it's very likely demo skewing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. -Winners:
    NBA Finals, Game 1 (ABC)

    -Losers (excluding repeats):
    “Aquarius” (NBC), “Hannibal” (NBC)

    ReplyDelete
  20. I only know Hannibal used to be pretty safe(I don't know why, though), but these ratings here seem unbearably low, so I'd love it if someone would explain to me why I shouldn't be worried, because I am freaking out right now. I love this show.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Me too, i will never get why they save everything but my beloved happy ending

    ReplyDelete
  22. Most people assume that it being a Sony show and a co production, the licensee fee that NBC pays is very low, resulting in it being possible for them to break even and make some profit on the show

    ReplyDelete
  23. It did run against the NBA finals.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The fact that Aquarius decreased around 30% and registered a .9 in the last portion. With Hannibal being below the HH, unless it skews unusually high in the demo which its not its history, its results will be well below that.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Aquarius and Hannibal did horrible, I finally found out that there is a XFiles crossover between these shows (Samson and Bedelia), shame for Hannibal its an amazing show, maybe one of the most quality on broadcast now.
    If demos hold,great for FOX.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am going to start S2 of Hannibal , how does it ocmpare to S1, S1 was great for me.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It's superior

    ReplyDelete
  28. Did ABC promoted any new show with a special ad related to the NBA like they did with Rising Star last year? What shows where promoted last night during the game?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hannibal is safe either way. It's airing in the summer which means lower expectations, it's a cheap show to produce, has critical acclaim, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Doing really great for 4/9 hours, passable for 2/9 hours (dateline and i can do that), meh for 1 hour (the island) and potentially bad for 2/9 hours (thursday dramas), not to even mention wednesday night isnt bad at all

    ReplyDelete
  31. I know The Muppets was.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Of course they will promote their biggest new show. How do you think The Muppets rates for the pilot?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hopefully Bones didn't actually go down in demos.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think pretty high.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ... the four hours doing great is the two hour blocks of AGT and Ninja Warrior... which I mentioned above.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yes but when that is almost half of the 3 entertainment program days and the other hours arent disasters it really doesnt make sense to say they are doing bad overall

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can understand Hannibal's low ratings. The show looks great but I fell asleep during several scenes of last night's episode. After watching Wayward Pines last night, Hannibal was boring in comparison. It moves to slow. I think this upcoming season may be its last.

    ReplyDelete
  38. On the contrary, AGT and ANW are established properties, that have been successful in the past. Its unsurprising that their success is continuing and highlighting the disappointing results of its lead-outs. You can't say both are doing great, which I agree with you, while failing to recognize the under-performance of its lead-outs. And as or Thursday, both going fractional is not good. At all. I'm a little confused, though, about your Wednesday statement as NBC showed hockey and next week are repeats.

  39. The Muppets/Blood & Oil/Quantico/The Whispers

    ReplyDelete
  40. Do you feel this is possibly the last season of So You Think You Can Dance?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Already forgot about that Blood and Oil promo lol.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't feel it is anymore dark or violent than The Following. It is just painfully slow moving. It is much more an achievement in cinematography. It is so visual and artistic that it makes you feel the show is of importance. The actors are fine. There is a lot of dialogue but not enough action so it doesn't feel like the story is progressing.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Season 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>Season 1.Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Season 1 was amazing as well.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I wish SpoilerTV would post them here.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It is a great show and I love Melissa Leo's performance. You will enjoy last night's episode as well. Hope Davis is terrific.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Just watched the premiere of Hannibal. While i love the show to death, that episode was boring. The cinematography was exceptional but the narrative was way too slow, even for the show.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait for the rest of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I feel exactly the same way. I will be watching Under the Dome when it premieres at the end of the month. Hannibal is too boring to watch. Since it is airing in the Summer, it should be a bit more fast pace and entertaining. I was falling asleep while watching last night's episode. I enjoyed Wayward Pines much more than Hannibal.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'd rather watch a far more sophisticated and slower drama than a faster one that is definitely less intelligent.

    ReplyDelete
  51. LOVED IT! It seemed slow at times but it was so interesting, I did miss Will, Jack and Alana though. But it was so interesting to see the dynamic between Bedelia and Hannibal. I can't wait for the rest of this season. First episode was very creepy to me and I'm excited to learn more!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am just about to watch Wayward Pines.Hearing so many good things about it.
Don't get me wrong,i loved some aspects of the premiere but coz it concentrated fully on Hannibal & Bedelia, the narrative seemed slow & with less action than we're usually accustomed too.I'm sure i'll love the next one with the fate of Will,Jack & Alana revealed-Physically & Mentally.

    ReplyDelete
  53. It was a tad slower than usual, but I was perfectly fine with that. Brilliant episode.

    ReplyDelete
  54. UTD is more of guilty pleasure. It's so bad,it's good-If you know what i mean.LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I was making fun of it when I watched the first season. Still can't believe I watched the whole first season lol.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hannibal won't be cancelled. It's ratings have never been great 0. something throughout the first two seasons.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I have a huge man crush on Mike Vogel.So.......

    ReplyDelete
  58. Barbie slamming Hunter (the new hot nerd guy) up against the wall is the only thing I really remember from season 2 tbh...

    ReplyDelete
  59. I don't know why but I can't stop watching Hannibal, I always say I'll stop but I never do. Last night's episode looked fantastic though. I find the show a bit slow so I never really give it my full attention since I get bored otherwise, I'm usually on my phone or laptop while watching. That leads to me getting confused sometimes though since it's a show that needs your full attention :/

Wayward Pines was great, I wonder if killing a character and having shock/twist ending is going to be a pattern in every episode.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hannibal gets a 0.7 I was hoping for a 0.9

    ReplyDelete
  61. My prediction for Hannibal was spot-on.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Is a 0.7 for Hannibal acceptable for the summer?

    ReplyDelete
  63. It's summer. It'sThursday and it did run against NBA finals. So 0.7 seems not that bad. It also had about 0.7 last year (Friday, spring, no NBA finals)

    ReplyDelete
  64. I just wanted it to be a little higher lol.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Hannibal is safe.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Series low tier. I still hope it's acceptable. And hell, do I wish it would adjust up later.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Not for a season premiere.

    ReplyDelete
  68. PerryGoGrrr 💛June 5, 2015 at 4:05 PM

I can do that got a 1.5 in summer....

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm praying for this to be true. This show is too good to be cancelled. And why the hell aren't people watching anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  70. If it was any other show, then no, but considering Hannibal is a co-production, it's quite safe.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It has lower expectations in the summer, is cheap to produce, and it has critical acclaim. It's safe.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Aquarius bombed hard....

    ReplyDelete
  73. Full tables added

    ReplyDelete
  74. No. Never, a 0.7 is considered a massive failure. I'll leave it at that as I do know Hannibal has some super-fans and I know what its like to love a show that has horrible ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I am assuming ABC promoted AWC and The Whispers during the NBA finals.
I didn't expect it, but AWC really drew me in.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Sad for Aquarius its really good. And the later episodes kick ass.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Aquarius was a bad lead-in for Hannibal. Although NBA finals began after Aquarius, Hannibal doesn't have lower ratings. So the best show on TV is safe. If it doesn't run against NBA finals next week, ratings will get better.

    ReplyDelete
  78. It does run against the NBA Finals next week. Game 4 in Cleveland.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yeah me too. I really want to see more.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Already watched the pilot?
The show has an intriguing cast, just don't know in which direction they mean to go.

    ReplyDelete
  81. No, I don't. I think that FOX continually views So You Think You Can Dance as the next great variety/dance show and as long as America's Got Talent does OK in the summer, they will continue to revise and edit the format and judging panel to try to turn it into the hit that they want it to be.

However, I think that it's a very good bet that the street vs. stage format and Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will not return as they proved to not be the draw that FOX was expecting.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Okay, Hannibal's total viwership is too high for this to be a 0.7. I'd love some half-hours.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Before watching Wayward Pines I'd watch every Hannibal episode 10 times in a row.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I thought it would get 0.5 or something.0.7 in summer for a show like Hannibal which has it's niche audience is perfectly acceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  85. It's good enough for Hannibal.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Aquarius did have 3.92 million of people watching and still it got a 0.7 as well.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I agree.I'm sure it'll go up next week.At least i hope so.Plus Hugh returns on-screen!

    ReplyDelete
  88. Maybe the week after.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Oh no,another episode with Will?Grrrr!

    ReplyDelete
  90. So you prefer Under the Dome and Wayward Pines. That's fine, really. You're obviously a moron.

    ReplyDelete
  91. It will still compete with the NBA Finals next week. That's why.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Oh.Makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Is name calling really necessary here?

    ReplyDelete

NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
