About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

Horrible start as predicted for AWC if correct.
ReplyDeleteSolid numbers for ABC but I'm certainly expected a bit bigger numbers.
ReplyDeleteSeeing that TAWC didn't have a lead-in, that's actually not bad.
ReplyDeleteStill going to be cancelled though.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it got a 0.9. It should be fine as long as it doesn't go lower than that, since it got renewed last season with those numbers
ReplyDeleteABC is calling it a 10-episode series.
ReplyDeleteThat was really generous. I predicted AWC ratings would suck lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's awful for both Astronaut Wives Club and Mistresses. Although, I can't say that I'm surprised as ABC just dumped both on Thursdays. Astronaut Wives Club was just a glorified burnoff.
ReplyDeleteEvery channel says things like that, but season 2's are always possible.
ReplyDelete0.6 and 0.7 for the US Open? Wow. Even sports is struggling on FOX. I thought that it would have pulled much higher. FOX surely did giving it primetime coverage. Tough break for FOX.
ReplyDeleteIt's golf. End of story
ReplyDeleteWhen I just saw the total viewers (5.55m) I thought it could do 1.5 if it skewed young.
ReplyDeleteI don't really see how a season 2 could be possible with this seeing that this is based on real life events and only a single book. If the events of the book are all covered in season 1, then what could they possibly do in season 2?
ReplyDeleteI am now officially in despair and have accepted defeat. What's left of it is to enjoy Hannibal till it lasts. Such a brilliantly crafted show.
ReplyDeleteCBS can get viewership with The Masters.
ReplyDeleteI think that it's FOX. It's getting dominated in the summer for whatever reason. Put it on any other network, it breaks a 1.0 at least. Who knows beyond that, I didn't see who was scheduled to tee as certain golfers have more of a fanbase.
Oh, the show was burnoff anyway.
ReplyDeleteThey did it with UTD; single book stretched into an ongoing series. Of course, it was a catastrophy, but it happened
ReplyDeleteThere is really no excuse for Hannibal's abysmal ratings.
ReplyDeleteWhich really makes me wonder what they are gonna do with Zoo. They surely can't stretch that into multiple seasons, right?
ReplyDeleteI agree. The continual FOX bias bashing (without merit) seems to be a bit misplaced.
ReplyDeleteThe US Open is definitely not as great or prestigious like The Masters.
ReplyDeleteBut that's not based on real life events though, it's fiction. You could make a million more stories out of the premise for a fiction book.
ReplyDeleteIf it is succesful it will have multiple seasons, I'm sure of it. What it turns out to be later on? I don't know
ReplyDeleteThey can, since it's fiction.
ReplyDeleteI imagine they could take on a fictional route later on
ReplyDeleteIt's probably going to bomb; it looks horrible, but you never know with CBS viewers.
ReplyDeleteHorrible for both Hannibal and Aquarius. They should just pull both and put them online. At this point, repeats would do better. Maybe they can grow Blacklist, Laura, etc. for next fall.
ReplyDeleteHannibal is safe anyway.
ReplyDeleteHopefully The Blacklist can grow a bit with Heroes Reborn as lead-in. I think Laura is a lost cause.
ReplyDeleteI think it already has a streaming deal, which will keep it alive. That's why Extant was renewed, despite lower than average ratings.
ReplyDeleteI really doubt that.
ReplyDeleteUgh
ReplyDeleteIt has a deal with Netflix I believe. Still not seeing how it can last multiple seasons though, but I guess they could come up with something.
ReplyDeleteBingo. And in network sports events, there is no correlation between habitual network viewers and new influx.
ReplyDeleteNice going CBS, nice going *slow clap*
ReplyDeleteAnimals attacking humans. It's basically TWD with animals replacing zombies.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what they are going to do in season 2. Extant and Under the Dome's concepts can turn into multiple seasons, but there's only so much of animal attacks you can have on Zoo.
ReplyDeleteI think that the bigger issue here is that scripted is doing awful this summer.
ReplyDeleteWayward Pines, Hannibal, Aquarius, Astronaut Wives Club, Mistresses have all pulled in low ratings.
Every single year, countless posts are written that so and so scripted should be moved to the summer or that networks need to push into more scripted programming in summer and viewers are rejecting it. What is getting watched? The reality staples The Bachelorette, American Ninja Warrior and America's Got Talent. This is what viewers are wiling to watch during the summer, light and easy to get into reality franchises.
I fully expect Zoo, Extrant, and Under The Dome to pull in similarly lower than expected ratings as that's the trend right now.
Yep. This is their "comfort zone". Just hope they won't drop anymore.
ReplyDeleteI expected a bit bigger numbers, but maybe this fairly positive buzz will shift it into the low 1s.
Wayward Pines is actually doing quite respectably for FOX summer.
ReplyDelete1.1 for TAWC, is that any good ?
ReplyDeleteBut isn't TWD set in a post-apocalyptic world? Zoo could turn into that I suppose. Actually that doesn't sound too bad.
ReplyDeleteNo
ReplyDeleteWayward Pine's renewal will be based on the international rollout plan they had for it and if it's profitable, but the fact that they tried this gigantic global launch indicated that FOX originally planned some impact with this show. 1.2 might get it renewed, but I think that Wayward Pines is still a scripted disappointment for FOX.
ReplyDeleteIt's not bad.
ReplyDeleteTVLine calls it a "safe launch", saying it improved on the cancelled The Black Box from last year.
ReplyDeleteAnimals get smart. Learn English and walking on two legs. There is so much they can do with this show.
ReplyDeleteTVLine lol
ReplyDeleteErm, TVLine is not exactly the site you want to quote when talking about ratings.
ReplyDeleteAlmost anything could grow from The Black Box as the ratings were truly horrific.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, any scripted show stuck in low 1s would need a lot of outside incentive to keep going, even in summer.
Now that sounds awful. But I guess anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteI agree, Wayward (without even counting the delayed viewership totals) is above expectations for FOX. It's one of the success stories this summer. Any network, would renew a 1.2 scripted this summer.
ReplyDeleteAs for Hannibal, I'm not that shocked because its in-season results were not strong and I didn't see a mass swelling of viewership resulting in a season change.
Next time I will quote TVBTN lol.
ReplyDeleteWasnt it originally picked up for the 2013-2014 season?
ReplyDeleteYes, and then delayed constantly. At the time of the delay, FOX's excuse was that they were looking for the perfect time to launch it to have the greatest impact. That's not surprising, all networks try to do that.
ReplyDeleteHowever, if we take that at face value, then it wasn't a burnoff or cheap option play here but their attempt to hit the scripted market. And in that respect, Wayward Pines did not accomplish that.
What did Mistresses and BATB get, demos arent listed?
ReplyDeleteA bit odd is that TAWC had more viewers than Mom but are tied in the demo, as we all consider CBS as the older skewing one. I expected at least 1,3-1,5s for TAWC. It will be interesting to see what numbers they'll show next week.
ReplyDeleteMistresses 0,9. BatB demo wasn't released.
ReplyDeleteAWC is skewing too old for ABC standards, the oldest skewing I saw in a while on ABC
ReplyDeleteA critic put it as Zoo is When Animals Attack in scripted form.
ReplyDeleteAnd really, I couldn't disagree with them. That's basically it. I think that it'll get old really fast.
BaTB got a 0.3/0.2
ReplyDeleteThanks, it ll be so funny if it rounds to 0.2 in the end.
ReplyDeleteTrue. Of course, Wayward Pines' delay is nothing next to what they are doing with Bordertown. It's like that one will never make it on the air!
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly older. I mean they got a quite youngish cast with Odette and Joanna, thought they would do a bit better in the demo.
ReplyDeleteI mean they have 1,7 mil viewers more than Mistresses but only 0,2 bigger demo.
0.3 . Just updated the table
ReplyDeleteLive +3 for the week ending June 14, Wayward Pines rose 0.9 in demo ,The Whispers 0.8 and Bones 0.7. Hannibal only rose 0.4(and its 0.35) and Aquaruius does poorly only 0.2
ReplyDeleteYeah Matt likes to sugarcoat things especially ABC related.
ReplyDeleteAveraged to 0.3.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I saw, I guess its good it didnt fall to 0.2? Still very low ratings.
ReplyDeleteThose Comedy repeats doing good. Mistresses is keeping the same ratings as last year. Really for such praised show Hannibal ratings are really bad.
ReplyDeleteWonder if UTD willl sink more with this new season after the horrible thing thatw as s2
Hey! Planet of the Apes is calling you! But it would eb really crazy to see this on tv streching everything into 13 episodes
ReplyDeleteI don't think the issue is so much the cast as the subject of the show. I think it's hard for some younger views to get interested in (or think they will be interested in) something that happened so long ago. The specifics of the "race for space" aren't really covered that in depth in school beyond the fact that is was a race between the US and USSR and that the US got to the moon first. For a lot of of people younger than say 50 that's about all they know, or in some cases, really care about the early space program. We don't know about all the ups and downs and failures and stuff going on behind the scenes. I think it's interesting and enjoyed the show but I can see why a lot of "younger" viewers, especially men, wouldn't even give it a chance.
ReplyDeleteWell, their fault for covering such a terrible and horrendously tedious sport.
ReplyDeleteThere is really no excuse for people who don't watch the best show in TV history.
ReplyDeleteI agree the topic isn't a really big turn on for younger viewers, but as said I thought a bunch of them could turn in cause of the leading ladies. I don't know much about the launches either but that was one of the reasons why I turned in. Cause it is a intriguing topic that wasn't really done much on tv.
ReplyDeleteI was really surprised how much I enjoyed the episode, it was so well layered and inspiring. And I was wowed by the cast. Overall I really look forward to new eps.
I don't know if there a point in checking Hannibal's ratings. If people prefer that kind of competition then maybe cancelling and being picked up by Netflix is the only good solution.
ReplyDeleteThe creator of Wayward Pines doesn't even seem to want a second season, the main story is wrapped up in episode 10. He said any possible second season would be based on the open-endedness of the book, but then it would be drastically different and they'd have to stretch to realistically still call it Wayward Pines. It's definitely best if it doesn't get renewed. But it seems to be getting decent overnight numbers, especially on a Thursday, and when factoring in DVR numbers as well.
ReplyDeleteWow a rerun of the Big Bang theory had the highest rating!
ReplyDeletesame as s02 ratings
ReplyDeleteOuch Mistresses. :( I really hope Rookie Blue will be okay (and do better) being after it.
ReplyDelete"Live +3 for the week ending June 14...Bones 0.7."
ReplyDeleteYay. :) I was only expect it to go up 0.5 (what the Live+3s have been lately). And thanks. :) TVbytN's layout confused me when I looked at it because they didn't convert the demos. Btw, where did you find the numbers?
If Hannibal gets cancelled, I hope Netflix buys it...
ReplyDeleteit was preempted, i think it will go down to 0.2. chicago is a big market
ReplyDeleteNo I understand what you're saying, I guess my point is I don't know that the cast is "big" enough to overcome the preconceived ideas that some people had/have about the show. I like Joanna Garcia-Swisher and decided to check out the show when I heard she was part of it (Wilson Bethel being cast cemented it for me) but I can see why none of the cast would be enough of a draw if you are someone who isn't also at least a little interested in the subject.
ReplyDeleteMore likely Amazon Prime as they have the streaming rights.
ReplyDeleteHey! The Apes evidently did it....
ReplyDeleteNot a bad start for The Astronaut Wives.
ReplyDeleteAquarius seems to be holding on to that 0.7 (I still haven't seen this week's episode yet...)
final ratings came up and i think. its still in 0.3
ReplyDeleteAnything should be an improvement from Black Box, that show was ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWrong. Horrible time slot. Wayward Pines benefits from an earlier time slot.
ReplyDeleteBottom line is Hannibal is WAY to educated for the vast majority of the television population. Netflix is where it belongs. It will feel right at home with other shows of its caliber. Network TV is full of garbage reality and procedurals. Crap that most of the masses eat up.
