Sorry, Pretty Little Liars fans: That stretch between the summer finale and the winter premiere just got a whole lot longer. Despite the show’s long-running tradition of airing a Halloween or Christmas-themed special, a representative for ABC Family confirmed that “Season 6 of Pretty Little Liars will not include a holiday episode.” I know — my initial reaction is something along the lines of when Aria found out why Ezra was really in Rosewood, too.
We don’t know much about the decision to not film a holiday special this year, other than the hint that it could just be for Season 6. (Fingers crossed!) Unfortunately, there’s also no explanation — yet — as to why the Liars won’t be in for an extra-creepy Halloween 2015. (Looks like we won’t get to see the return of the Santa boxers, either.)
This news is obviously disappointing for fans who not only welcome the chance to get a dose of PLL-style terror each Halloween, but also look at the holiday episode as a break between the summer finale (Season 6’s is scheduled to air on Aug. 2) and the second half of the season, which will premiere sometime in early 2016.
