  1. After Dahne's review I had to watch this live and DVR True Detective. It was amazing from start to finish. So much action. They never let up and you just fall more in love with these characters. It really was like watching a 2 hour movie (minus those commercials)

  2. Wow, If you had told me a show about a virus outbreak from Michael Bay would be playing with my feelings this much I would have laughed in your face.

That was such a stellar premiere, I haven't been entertained by a movie or a show like that in a long time. There so many great acting and character moments as well, I loved it. The action was taken to whole other level, I'm really looking forward to the next episode but at the same time glad I have a week to recover!

  3. I enjoyed S1 overall despite some uneven eps and it flet like it was running out of steam (and my interest) towards the end, but this was an excellent start to the season with some great action (Michael Bay's forte) and some great moments within. Sure, the ep required some disbelief suspension here and there, but I really enjoyed this return

  4. So glad you weren't disappointed. I loved this episode and I am so glad they didn't leave me hanging about Kara. 2 episodes to premiere was smart. The only time I felt it dragged a little was with Chandler's family. They didn't need to add a fever in with everything else going on. Other than that it was 2 big thumbs up from me. I too checked out the song and I loved Slattery's reactions when he was in the camera room. I was doing the same fist pumps.

  5. I am so glad you liked it. The constant action amazed me and yet it had a lot of heart. It's definitely the best premiere I've seen this summer and it may be my favorite of the 2014-2015 TV season. I felt breathless by the time I had finished watching.

  6. I really did, I hope it sticks. Even after all your praise I was still blown away by it!

  7. So glad to hear it. I was afraid that being so enthusiastic, it might let some people down. Glad to know that it wasn't just me that felt this was one heck of a ride and a great way to kick off the season.

  8. Well, that id NOT disappoint. As the crew was getting themselves out of their restraints I was giggling with delight. And my favorite line from Pitch Black popped into my head "Did NOT know who he was messing with." Start to finish action fest. I knew Granderson was going to kill herself, but I was expecting her to jump. I enjoyed this from beginning to end my only issue is that I didn't get a hint as to what the series framework will be now that the cure exists. So many of the shows that have had a finite story for their first season can't sustain the tension and tightness of story in their second season. I really want this show to be an exception.

  9. I refused to look at any previews I wanted to check it out cold.

  10. I thought Granderson was going to shoot herself. Once they took Avocet, I knew she wasn't going to live and that ended my whole thought for what the season would be about. I too am a little concerned that they burned through too much plot in these episodes, but the writers have given me a whole load of optimism about their talents.

  11. I watched it cold too. Then I went back and watched the previews to see what I could and could not say in the preview.

  12. I think this show is always going to require suspension of belief in parts. It's like Scorpion in that way to me. Generally the first time through I am riding the high of the action so it doesn't bother me. In the rewatch I tend to get more critical.

  13. I'd complain about not getting any hints about what the season is about other than spreading the cure, but the line they ended with was just so perfect.

  14. I thought the ending line worked really well too. I knew I wanted to put it in the review because it stuck out to me.

  15. I was thinking of your preview the whole time lol, filling in those question marks! It only made it even more tense for me!

  16. Burning through plot or sticking in Baltimore for an extended number of episodes weren't my concerns. Given that the show is about the ship and its crew the show will have to stay at sea...I was/am worried that the show will become a series of eps like this one and El Toro. Like...week after week the crew lands at a port with a mission to take the cure into the country and week after week they have to stop the villain of the week from preventing the delivery of the cure.

Awesome as this episode was it didn't really belay my fears.

  17. I thought it was really good. I loved seeing how the crew all worked together to fight back. Definitely a very action filled ep. Even the promo for next week looked great.

  18. Lots of great action. Great start to season 2. This is like a weekly summer action movie. I'm glad they wrapped up the Olympia storyline and now the crew of the Nathan James can work to restore order after the outbreak. Poor Titus Welliver. But, at least he has another job to go back to.

  19. Exactly. Dane was wasted on Grey's. I'm glad he finally bailed on that show and TNT cast him here. I think he's a great leading man for an action-based show like this.

  20. Finally finished watching, and oh boy that was awesome.

This show is reminds me why I love submarine/ship/boat, and space ship settings, you get to see loyal crew members, all doing their part. Like O'Connor, Miller, & Cruz were some of the few who were awesome. O'Connor bring the one who dove in to the bay and got back on the ship to meet up with the 2 to take out the mesh guards.

When they took Kara I was scared man I was like oh No! Glad she stabbed the doc with his own medicine.
Tom,Tex, Rachel kept the episodes serious, funny and emotional; which was good.

And above all Glad the Fat Cop & Bitch Granderson are dead.
Tho I wished Fat Cop died faster, because I kept seeing Slattery as Casey from Chuck.
And Granderson should of been shot.

But they are dead and that's all that matters.

  21. I loved this premiere. It definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. The two hours just flew by.

The only part that I found a little juvenile were Slattery's reactions while he was hidden in the communications room. Fist pumping is fine but yelling and whooping like a preteen playing a video game struck me as kind of dumb when the ship is in enemy hands and you're supposed to be keeping a low profile. ( He did redeem himself with that axe after though. )

One thing puzzled me at the end too. Why didn't the Captain return his CMC's salute at the end when he boarded the ship?

  22. When Adam Baldwin walked away from the body with the axe in his hand he looked like a serial killer! lol I was wondering why that guy could take him down to begin with though...

  23. Was very bummed they didn't keep Titus Welliver on the series.
