We are in for one hell of a season finale if the events of this episode are anything to go by. The cards are all out on the table in “And Hell Itself My Only Foe” with secrets and intentions being revealed left and right. New alliances are being formed and friendships are destroyed in this penultimate Penny Dreadful hour. The tension ramps up higher and higher until the very last moments and I have to say I’m shocked by what happens.
Ethan and Vanessa return from their sabbatical at the behest of their allies in an effort to save Sir Malcolm, but it is still unclear whether our heroes’ faith will be enough to best the power of the Nightcomers.
“And Hell Itself My Only Foe” begins with a bang and while I wouldn’t call the entire episode “shocking”, there are a few twists and turns that truly shocked me. Their were revelations I wasn’t expecting from every plotline. We see in this episode just how close Sir Malcolm’s team has become in their struggles with their individual secrets when they must face evil head on to save one of their own.
The thing I enjoy most about this Penny Dreadful episode is, as I mentioned above, everything is starting to be laid out in the open. It’s as if the demimonde is taking over and our heroes’ awareness of that grey area between light and dark is the only thing that will save them, though none of them are safe. I’m not pleased with a few outcomes, not from a storytelling standpoint, but as a fan rooting for these characters.
“And Hell Itself My Only Foe” is another great installment of Penny Dreadful, one that will leave you wishing the episode didn’t have to end.

Thanks for the preview :) This season has been getting better and better each episode and I can't wait to see what happens. I see Dorian in a completely different way after what he did in the last episode, I'm interested to see if the show goes in a different direction with him now.

Not just visions of thir past....i am asking by some new things that we could learn know about their fates...

ReplyDeleteCan't wait for this episode, It looks very exciting and I'm sure someone will die. Hopefully, Dorian. After what killing Angelique he deserves it. I don't even know what purpose he has in the show. He's totally disconnected with the main plot. The only thing that makes him useful is his relationship with psycho Lily.

ReplyDeleteThe actor who plays Dorian is called for to be one of the main villains in S3. We can say that we were watching until his total fall in the dark hole...now that he has discovered that he´s more cute and strong, powerful killing, he will not stop...and will want Lily as Dracula of Coppola wanted to Mina: for to be his immortal mate, or something like that. I hope Caliban die. He did not make nothing in this show, just the ridiculous with Lily, losing all his few dignity of man-thing.

ReplyDeleteThe character I am most scared about is Victor. He is in a huge mess and the worst part is that he knows nothing about the danger waiting for him. Not one but two monsters are waiting for him to come back so that they can kill him.
Next in my 'concerned about' list are Malcolm and Sembene.
I am most nervous for three characters - Victor, Malcolm and Sembene - in that order. The rest of them will be fine.

ReplyDeleteYes that could be possible. Dorian has proven that he can kill without remorse and would do anythig to protect his secret. And you're right, Caliban does nothing. Maybe he and Lily will try to kill Victor and Frankenstein will kill him. Caliban would deserve it after everything he has done to Victor. Ok, Victor shouldn't have abandoned him but that's not an excuse to threaten him and beat him up whenever Caliban wants!

ReplyDeleteBut i have read by somewhere that Ethan Chanlder are gonna to have a fight serious with Caliban, hopefully he kill him, because Caliban should shoot out London. He just know hurt to everybody, with Victor he was the worst person ever. Victor was not perfect but he created to Lily for him, and in some way Caliban blames now and will blame always Victor if Lily does not love him. Lily will be involved with Dorian maybe much more time that we are thinking. i have fear by Victor too.

ReplyDeleteThe future daughter of Ethan & Vanessa, i think . A child what was gonna to be in the two last episodes, played by the young Actress Amber Fernee,. She has the name of Vanessa´s mother, Claire and the surname of Ethan, Chandler. But maybe Logan deleted all her scenes... pfff that would be a shit if he has done that.
