EXCLUSIVE: Established stage actress Audrey Brisson has joined the cast of Starz’s hit period drama Outlander for its upcoming second season, TVWise has learned. The 13 episode second season is now in production in Scotland for a 2016 premiere on Starz.
Brisson will play Sister Angelique, a nun at L’Hopital Des Anges in Paris. As fans of the book series will know, L’Hopital Des Anges is a key location, with Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) volunteering – as well as ultimately being treated – at the hospital in the second book. For now this is a guest starring role, but I’m told it has the potential to become a recurring one.
Outlander’s second season, which will run “at least” 13 episodes, is based on Dragonfly In Amber, the second book in Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander novel series, and follows Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) in Paris, France, as they attempt to prevent the Jacobite uprisings, which Claire knows will end in disaster.
