Thanks to SGU for the heads up.
TVLine has learned that for an early Season 5 episode, the ABC drama is guest-casting the role of Rumplestiltskin’s mother, Evanna, to appear in flashbacks.
To date, precious little is know about Evanna — she was already gone at the that time his cowardly father Malcolm ran away to dodge the Ogre Wars, leaving Rumple to be tended to by spinner spinsters (which really should be the name of an all-girl band).
But this much TVLine can now reveal: Once is seeking an actress in her mid-20s to early 30s to play the “stunningly beautiful” Evanna, who is described as “plucky, strong and imbued with an unshakeable sense of self-confidence.” Evanna sometimes acts before she thinks, though unlike her son she never acts out of pure self-interest. Rather, her noble spirit stands in stark contrast to the now-dark soul of her offspring.
Candidates must also be able to pull off a Scottish accent.

OMG yeeeeeeees!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLets cast her. 1, 2, 3, ... Go.
ReplyDeleteI love back stories so much so I am p u m p e d.
ReplyDeleteFinally some backstory for Rumple.I would love to see something related to his past.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to finally getting more backstory on Rumple
ReplyDeleteWow. Really wow! Didn't thought they would get there with everything going on.
ReplyDeleteScreaming from happines. Than mean that it is possible to see Peter Pan/young Malcolm (Robbie Kay)!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always wondered about Rumple's mother. Intrigued to find out more about his family/backstory.
ReplyDeleteI believe Rose Leslie is free and she certainly has “plucky, strong and imbued with an unshakeable sense of self-confidence" down.
ReplyDeleteThis season 5....oh my God !
ReplyDeleteTatiana Maslany.
ReplyDeleteLol karine vananesse. Is his mother french? I don't think so :D
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteShe is a actress ... she should be able to change her accent for the camera
Sophie Lowe? What? You realize she was Alice in the spin-off, right? She can't just play someone else in the main show.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a stretch, I think it's more possible we see the adult Malcolm, played by Stephen Lord.
ReplyDeleteHow come no one here has peddled the theory that she is Morgana or Morgan or whatever yet?
ReplyDeleteDamn. Forgot about that.
ReplyDeleteI know ;)
ReplyDeleteAdult Malcolm was single. Young Malcolm will meet his wife/female partner in his youth.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Especially to Alice Evans, although she was 40 already when she appeared in LOST later seasons, but I would also take Eliose younger counter part too, Alexandra Kronsey, who'd should be mid 20s or approaching 30!
ReplyDeleteWe won't get our hopes up and seens like a one time thing, like Belle's mom last season.
ReplyDeleteme too, it seems to be a giant silence in Rumple's life.
ReplyDeleteI just had an heartattack I thought Rumple was gonna leave OUAT instead his mom is being casted yay my love stays & I'm hyper to meet his mom <3 :D
ReplyDeleteYou can doubt but he was a younger version of Malcolm. It was showed in episode 3x08 "Think Lovely Thoughts".
ReplyDeleteRose Leslie, Isla Fisher, Kelly McDonald, Karen Gillan, & Sophie Kennedy Clark
ReplyDeleteIt's not doubt, it's fact. Robbie played a Child version of Rumple's dad. What did he say in 3x08? Only children can be in Neverland and children can't have their own children. That is why he sent Rumple away. The whole point of casting Robbie was cause he is a kid. Now he is a teenager more or less but he won't play a 30 year old for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou can doubt but he young Malcolm is Robbie Kay. So, casting Rumple's mean that it is possible to see Robbie Kay as future Peter Pan/young Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteU obviously don't want to see and blindly follows Ur conviction that they will use Robbie to play a 30-35 year old Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteNo sweetie. Wrong, wrong, and wrong again. Result?

Robbie could play young version of Rumple's father. They could make a flashback at time when young Evanna met young Malcolm (Robbie Kay) and then skip to early years of Rumple's life (why Evanna left Malcolm). About that was my first post.
Did U read the article? They aren't casting a young Evanna, they are casting one in her late 20s early 30s. So keep that F to yourself.
ReplyDeleteI read it. 25 year old girl (actress they pick) and 19 -year old boy (actor Robbie Kay; born 13 September 1995) can conceive a child. I can't keep what I already gave to you.
ReplyDeleteI'll stop here. U really don't want to see it and U have right to think the way U want.
ReplyDeleteAnd U can keep it as I didn't accept it. ^_^
Great suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this show since season 2, I really need to catch up. But perhaps Katie McGrath? Just saw her pop up in Jurassic World (had no idea she had been cast) and now I want to see her in more projects, I've missed her. And I'm relatively sure I've seen her in something with a Scottish accent, but I could be wrong. Still, I'm sure she could pull it off.
ReplyDeleteSo u missed evil Peter Pan (season 3a), crazy Wicked Witch of the West (season 3b), Snow Queena as a aunt to Elsa and Anna from "Frozen" (season 4a) + "the Queens of Darkness" (cooperating Cruella, Ursula and Maleficent; season 4b)?
ReplyDeleteCool! I like the idea of casting Evangeline Lilly
ReplyDeleteBut wasn't Peter Pan, as portrayed by Robbie Kay, physically too young? He was supposed to be a teenager. Rumple was quite young in the 308 flashbacks, so when his father had him, he was surely already Stephen Lord. Know what I mean?
ReplyDeleteAs much as I love Rachel Taylor, she's the new Summer Glau - everything she stars in gets cancelled. Too afraid she could bring bad luck to "OUAT". But I like the Alice Evans idea, although she's in her 40s now. Wonder if Dushku is able to pull off Scottish accent - she could also be nice.
ReplyDeleteIDK. I wrote "(...) it is possible to see future Peter Pan/young Malcolm (...)".
ReplyDeleteI don't want to bring him back like Zelena in s04e17, but I want him in flashbacks, just like Cora in s04e20.
We shall see.
and you missed Emma becoming the Dark One !
