I think I'm just gonna give up on Marvel for now, I haven't liked their recent movies, I haven't seen AOU yet and have no desire to, and AOS is nothing special either. Daredevil and Agent Carter I'll be sticking with though, for now anyway.
That episode was the turning point of the series. Things were never the same. I am so happy you are liking it, the show is amazing. I am very glad I convinced you to try and that you are enjoying it! Very happy, really.
Um, isn't Ms Marvel an upcoming movie? Seems weird to have a TV show too. I say HELL NO to a Hulk series, one of my least favorite Marvel characters ever (actually, no, he's definitely my least favorite.)
I hear Blade and Ghost Rider are being considered...definitely Netflix, please.
Moon Knight, ABC. Cloak and Dagger, well I only now just looked that up on Wikipedia to see what it was. Sounds interesting, I'd prefer it on ABC I think. Doesn't seem like something that needs to be dark and gritty like Daredevil.
Hulk series + Cloak & Dagger series have been in development hell since like 2008 if I recall right. The 2 were initially announced along with Jessica Jones but then nothing ever came from them. Jessica Jones was, I assume, shopped to Netflix instead and became the series currently being filmed.
Guillermo del Toro was in charge of the Hulk project.
I was about 11 or 12 when I saw it but I was just totally turned off. I'm not sure why but I've always found Hulk to be a bit off-putting. He works in Avengers because of how he plays off the others I think, but I hope he never gets a solo project again while the MCU is in its current state.
Apparently it's one of his passion projects that he's determined to get off the ground. He apparently approached Marvel with the idea rather then Marvel approaching him.
He's mentioned that he's fascinated by the whole 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' aspect of his personality and wanted to tell a story that was more mental. Focusing on what makes the Hulk and Bruce Banner tick rather then 'HULK SMASH!'
Yeah, but years ago, there weren't several popular Marvel series on the air, and now they are getting a ton of attention. Even AoS and Agent Carter may not be killing it in the overnights but they're still very popular if you look at overall numbers. I totally believe Marvel is aggressively pursuing getting as many shows out as possible.
agreed, network has too many limitations to do anything well except procedurals most of the time. Though some cable networks are as bad as network tv(syfy, tnt, usa, etc).
Also I think they'll want to compete with DC on TV. DC will have 7 shows on the air by the end of the upcoming TV season with another 9 in various stages of development.
Marvel only really has 2 with another 2 confirmed in development. The Netflix series and Powers are in a different format so I don't really count them. So I assume they'll try and get their properties out there.
Say... Ms Marvel onto ABC Family Cloak & Dagger onto A&E She-Hulk onto Lifetime Ect
I really think Marvel series will primarily be on ABC and Netflix. I'd be willing to bet a lot of money Lifetime will never buy a Marvel series, and if they did, it would have to be very small in scope because there's no way they could afford something big. If these next few Netflix series are as big as Daredevil I think they'll end up announcing a new deal with Marvel to produce more shows.
She-Hulk I think could work on Lifetime if they focused more on the legal side of her life. Show her as a strong powerful lawyer with ties to the superhero community rather then getting into fights each episode.
Alternatively Marvel's classic 'Millie The Model' I think could work well on Lifetime.
The only real reason I think Lifetime could eventually get something is because Disney owns 50% of the A+E Network which owns Lifetime.
Marvel mentioned they aren't doing origin movies anymore so in theory, Carol must already be a superhero by now and just operating off-screen like Doctor Strange is already.
If Ms Marvel does end up happening it could actually make for an interesting way to debut Carol. Play her up as this big figure that once saved (and thus inspired) Kamala but goes unseen except in images. Then the movie is her first proper appearance after being built up as this big thing through Ms Marvel.
Also read on another site that Marvel's toying with doing series' for Blade, Ghost Rider, and Punisher, as well as a Black Widow & Hawkeye mini-series.
We've got seven shows already, with eight more in development. That's a lot of Marvel tv. I'll eagerly anticipate it all. Just, uh, find a way to give me some breathing space, please?
However, I remember hearing that the reason Captain Marvel didn't appear in AoU was because they wanted to introduce her in her own movie first. So maybe they don't want her to be mentioned on this show as well.
I remember reading in another article they wanted to introduce Kamala without giving her a superhero-name until the end of the season, like Daredevil did (even though I'm pretty sure the first thing Kamala would do is pick a superhero-name).
So she could just as well be inspired by another female MCU hero like Black Widow or Scarlet Witch if they go that route I guess.
Oh god no that show. Just bad, not as bad as the '90's Cap movie, but so bad. And unlike the '60s Batman one it didn't mock/ embrace itself beautifully as a silver age work.
I hope Marvel's TV department doesn't go the "quantity over quality" route, like DC. Moreover, since all of their properties are in the same universe, if they keep adding more and more, it's going to get messy.
I wish they'd just put the money they want to spend on developing some of these new shows into promoting the hell out of AoS and getting big-name guest stars on it. It's the flagship TV series for Marvel and the one that firmly links the TV realm to the movie realm.
I hope Marvel's TV dept. doesn't go the "quantity over quality" route, like DC. Moreover, since all of their properties are in the same universe, if they keep adding more and more, it's going to get messy.

You've finally reached the point where you get all the awesome pay-off for the set-up done in the early portion of Season 1. Enjoy, you've got a wild ride ahead of you - the last few episodes of Season 1 and then Season 2 are absolutely fantastic.
Ms. Marvel, if it gets off the ground, would be a big step forward in diversity for Marvel, with a Muslim teenage girl heading up her own series. Although, when you consider AoS and Agent Carter, Marvel's TV division is already far ahead of the movie division when it comes to diversity (well, AoS for both gender and race, AC still needs characters of color but it gets credit for the female lead). Hopefully, Captain Marvel will do well and prove that action movies don't have to be led by straight white male characters to be successful.
If Ms Marvel non-Netflix, will they still be able to have the character appear on AKA Jessica Jones, or vice versa? I'll be really upset if we don't get those two onscreen together. I know they'll both technically be Marvel owned shows. But will the different networks affect chances of a crossover?
It'll most certainly be Kamala. Marvel's been pushing her pretty heavy and now she's going to be introduced into the animated universe. They like to cross-promote so with Kamala being the animated Ms Marvel then the live action one would also be Kamala.
It was the character's title for over 60 years just because it's the publisher's name doesn't really give it a better fit. It perfectly described Billy's immaturity as a kid and his powers.
I thought they didn't have all the rights for Hulk which is why they haven't given him another solo movie? Also right now any Hulk incarnation without Ruffalo seems a bit pointless... even f it might be "Bruce, Betty and the good years" type show...
I'm totally game for a Ms Marvel! Go Kamala!!! (and I guess this might mean that John Ridley's involvement with Marvel is still ongoing.... unless it's still different projects...)
I would say if they have a new Hulk incarnations with a New Hulk TV series will be better than Mark Ruffalo Bruce Banner because ruffalo doesn't have nothing to bring to the Banner character and the Hulk not surpose to look like ruffalo at all. But they will cast a much younger actor to play Dr.Bruce Banner to replace Mark Ruffalo which a better choice they find a right fit person that looks like Edward Norton to play Bruce Banner.
I guess that's a point of opinion. I liked Ruffalo better than Norton (who was fine but nothing great IMO) and I think the general consensus is very positive to Mark's Banner and his Hulk.
I'm not too keen on them rebooting the character in general though. He works well in an ensemble but he seems to be a hard one to carry a solo story. And I don't think making a Hulk TV show will help that.
That's your opinion but I like Norton better than Ruffalo. Because Norton played into the Banner better than Ruffalo. And yes it will help like marvel to make a Hulk TV series it will work if they get someone that looks like Ed Norton and Bill Bixby will work.
Mark Ruffalo is not going to reprise the role as Banner a much younger actor in his twenties. That's better for New Hulk TV series will work. That's a trivia in IMDb production.
The New Hulk TV series not going to tie into the Hulk movies and the Avengers movies it's going to be about the early years of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.
Regardless of whether you liked Norton better than Ruffalo in the role, doesn't change the fact the majority of the Marvel fans and the Marvel company seem to be very happy with Ruffalo's incarnation of the character.
The existing Hulk movies (both of the the pre-MCU one and the Norton one) have proven that Hulk on his own is a bit of a hard sell. Hulk/Banner in the ensembles however has done great. And granted, that may have been because of the direction they took with him in the Avangers movies.
However it is a fair assumption to make, due to the pre-existing solo Hulk movies not being as successful, that as popular as Hulk might be he is a hard character to carry a movie on his own. And asking him to carry a show, which needs stories week in-week out, doesn't seem smart because of that.
I don't care about what marvel likes it's about what the fans likes now Disney owns marvel The Hulk TV series is going to be better than the avengers Hulk.
Be respectful to the person in charge of making a Hulk TV series it's not going to tie into the movie's it's going be on it's own spin. Mark Ruffalo will not reprise the role as Dr.Bruce Banner another unkown actor in his mid 20s.
No it's been in development since 2010 that's how long the Hulk TV series. Still is Guillermo Del Toro in charge as a executive producer of The Incredible Hulk TV series and the Hulk on TV will be CGI and puppetry.
If they do a Hulk TV series it will do excellent because of the hire ratings in the 1970s with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno original Hulk TV series with 88 episodes. So don't say that it's not going to work. It's going be bigger than ever and better then the Avengers movie's with Hulk playing by a cheap actor Mark Ruffalo.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I might check the others, but i've never seen the hulk be successful in movies/tv so idk on that one.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of marvel, I am binge watching Shield and i just watched Turn, Turn, Turn which was Excellent, Excellent, excellent!! Love this show
ReplyDeleteI think I'm just gonna give up on Marvel for now, I haven't liked their recent movies, I haven't seen AOU yet and have no desire to, and AOS is nothing special either. Daredevil and Agent Carter I'll be sticking with though, for now anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'm only interested in the Netflix ones.
ReplyDeleteThat episode was the turning point of the series. Things were never the same. I am so happy you are liking it, the show is amazing. I am very glad I convinced you to try and that you are enjoying it! Very happy, really.
ReplyDeleteI will watch whatever they do, so I am good with this.
ReplyDeleteerm...you've never seen the Hulk being successful on TV?
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOXpKUu6pUg
Meh on Cloak and Dagger
ReplyDeleteI'd be totally for a Hulk and Ms Marvel series. But only if Ruffalo would be willing to return as the Hulk
That show is so godawful
ReplyDeleteI am also very happy that you convinced me :)
ReplyDeleteUm, isn't Ms Marvel an upcoming movie? Seems weird to have a TV show too. I say HELL NO to a Hulk series, one of my least favorite Marvel characters ever (actually, no, he's definitely my least favorite.)

There's an upcoming Captain Marvel movie, not the same as Ms Marvel although Ms Marvel only exists because of Captain Marvel.
ReplyDeleteI would be interested in anything not done on network TV. Doesnt necessarily have to be Netflix.
ReplyDeletebut it was a success and for its time revolutionary.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed it as a kid
Oh yeah! Haha I confuse them because of the similar name and both are female, I guess. Not familiar with either.
ReplyDeleteWell...we already had a Blade series ;)
ReplyDeleteHulk series + Cloak & Dagger series have been in development hell since like 2008 if I recall right. ReplyDeleteHm maybe he just has a thing for giant monsters haha. Personally, I'd love to see him handle one of the magical/supernatural characters.
ReplyDeleteHe's mentioned that he's fascinated by the whole 'Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde' aspect of his personality and wanted to tell a story that was more mental. Focusing on what makes the Hulk and Bruce Banner tick rather then 'HULK SMASH!'
ReplyDeleteWe even had a Blade anime series :P
ReplyDeleteI'd take this with a truckload of salt. These are all things Jeff Bell spitballed years ago.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but years ago, there weren't several popular Marvel series on the air, and now they are getting a ton of attention. ReplyDeleteI grew up reading and playing Maximum Carnage, so YES to Cloak and Dagger!
ReplyDeleteAlso I think they'll want to compete with DC on TV. DC will have 7 shows on the air by the end of the upcoming TV season with another 9 in various stages of development.

Does Ms. Marvel ever become MRS. Marvel? LOL
ReplyDeleteI really hate that Marvel stole that superhero name.

ReplyDeleteLou Ferrigno claims they will be doing a Hulk TV series too last year.
ReplyDeleteThe New Hulk TV series not going to tie into the Hulk movies and the Avengers movies it's going to be about the early years of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross.
