At the 2015 Shaw Media upfront presentation in Canada, broadcaster Global TV played a sizzle reel that to date, only some in the States have had the luxury of seeing. And it had lots and lots (and lots) of good stuff in it. Even better? Incoming star Zachary Levi was on hand to do small roundtables about the incoming series, which is currently filming in and around the Toronto area.
Here are 5 things we learned from the new trailer, and from Levi himself.
Micah is back!

ReplyDeleteHeroes gave us likeable characters in Season one, only to slowly make them more ridiculous and intolerable by the end. I was really hoping for a brand new show that really had Tim Kring's vision of an anthology series, but it seems that NBC is pressurizing the showrunners to bring in 'old favourites', to bring back the show's old fanbase.

ReplyDeleteSo it really IS Micah, our favorite Technopath is back, AWESOME!!! He sounds like he's back to his vigilante ways and i love that. I was waiting for an interview with Zachary Levi about playing his first villain role, he sounds like he really IS like HRG was when we first met him, even if he sounds WAY more brutal than what Bennet was. I mean "murderous streak" sounds more like Sylar before he redeemed himself but okay. It's actually kind of depressing, they tried AND succeeded to stop those Dark Futures only for them to be LIVING in a Dark Future, talk about living in a world with no hope.

ReplyDeleteThis is a return that I actually like! He will be essentially a new character but with some ties to the old guys so he is the perfect character to introduce the concept of a new generation!

ReplyDeleteEvery time a returning character is announced, the reaction across the net seems mostly positive - except for here. Go figure. I'm biased because I LOVE the original run and most of its characters, but I'm so happy with all 6 of those returning - and I never expected so many! For those wanting it to be mostly fresh - keep in mind, only HRG is a returning regular. The rest of the series regulars are all brand new, and there's tons of them! But tbh I NEED the returning guests to tie it back to the original, so it really feels like we are back in that world again. Can't wait!

We do know his origins and stuff but he was a kid when we saw him, he will be a young guy now so they are kind of free to define his character features as well as to build new relationships with whoever.
ReplyDeleteI agree. She was grossly misused in Seasons 2 and 3. I thought they were trying to rectify the situation in Season 4 though, she was prominent in the very early episodes but then Ali got busy with a movie or something and she vanished and only did a cameo in the finale.
ReplyDeleteI didn't mind Parkman but I thought he was played out at the end. And they destroyed the character with the writing they gave him in S3. One day he is crazy in love with Daphne, the other day he is back together with Jannet as if it was nothing and proclaiming his love for her right after Daphne died. It was horrible and made him totally unrootable for me.
ReplyDeleteI think it is because we had to witness first hand the character assassinations that were committed to these guys. I mean, I really liked Mohinder in the early years and I thought Parkman was pretty cool too. But they were so ruined and messed up at the end that it is hard to be excited for them to return. I think people get excited because they remember the awesome times but they forget how badly things ended. This being said, I am happy with Micah and I think you have a point that these are only guest stints, though I really feel they aren't necessary.
ReplyDeleteZachary Quinto should definitely not be back though. I loved the guy as much as everyone but he prevented the show from moving forward. It would be a huge mistake to bring him back, thank god he doesn't want to be back.

ReplyDeleteI always thought that the character had potential when she first debuted with her brother, but the season where they were first introduced got cut-off prematurely because of the strike so any potential that was seen there simply went down the drain in the seasons that followed.
