We're going to try something new for some select shows during the summer and try opening up the polls and comments as the episode starts airing so you can discuss the show as it unfolds.

This means that you're free to discuss the show as it airs in the comments and then you can vote on the Poll when it's over. It goes without saying, unless you're watching it live and don't want to be spoiled, don't proceed any further :)

Hopefully you'll enjoy being able to comment on the show live as it airs.

So let us know what you think during the episode and what you think of being able to comment on the show whilst it airs in the comments below.

  3. I think each episode has gotten better this season. And next week's episode is a flashback so we get caught up with everyone else. That dinner scene with the professor was so messed up and funny at the same time.

  4. One of my favorites! I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle on both of those accounts. I suspect either from faulty memory or a need to protect someone, Hannibal was not fully responsible. Also fun references to grave of the fireflies, Oni, and Death Heads hawkmoth!

  5. Mesmerizing hour. But I can see why this season is not for everyone because the pace has definitely changed from the slightly " study subject case of the week" vibe the show had mixed in with its image stream before. It has intensified its imagery and lessened its exposition this year. Hannibal and Bedelia are amazing together. And tonight I saw the first signs of their being a great comedy team as well !

  6. I really like that the episode doesn't try to explain Hannibal's character in 42 minutes like some origin stories do. He's not so much the product of things as he is just something.

  7. An amazing episode that really gave some fascinating insights into the past of Hannibal Lecter. This season has really exceeded my expectations in more ways than one.

Will in Lithuania was incredible. The atmosphere outside of Lecter Castle alone gave the sense that you were actually there with him. So dense and so mysterious but oh so captivating. Chiyoh's introduction was a highlight of the episode and I can't wait to see her and Will team up to go hunt for Hannibal. Tao Okamoto is a great (and beautiful!) entry in the long list of amazing actors on this show. "You were doing what he does. He'd be proud of you, his nakama".

Jack is back!! Loved that scene with him and Rinaldo in the Palermo. "Will Graham understands Hannibal, and he accepts him. And who amongst us doesn't want understanding and acceptance?" Once again, beautiful dialogue by Mr. Laurence Fishburne. Welcome back, sir. We've missed you. And poor Rinaldo lol. He's just looking for an ally to team up with to take down the Monster of Florence but he keeps on being turned down by everyone. Should be interesting to see if Jack is successful in bringing Will back home. But not before he pays a very important visit to Lecter later on ;)

I could just watch a whole show of just Hannibal bringing all these different kinds of Italian guests to dinner while Bedelia looks so terrified throughout haha. Their dinner with Professor Sogliato was certainly an interesting one. Oh, Sogliato. Hannibal was not fond of you whatsoever. I gotta admit, I giggled when Sogliato had the ice pick in his head and just started chucking and speaking Italian XD And then of course, Hannibal's "That may have been impulsive" and "Technically, you killed him" when Bedelia took out the ice pick. So cheeky and another reason as to why this dynamic is so twisted but so fascinating to watch. But I think Bedelia may have cost her own life during that bathroom scene and said "How did your sister taste?" before submerging herself in the water. I really think her days are numbered now.

Will making his own art with that prisoner and shaping him into a dragonfly was beautiful. Hannibal would be so proud of him. Did he leave that for Hannibal to find? Looks like it. And that final scene was so awesome. Hannibal only has one way to forgive Will and he has to eat him. The war has begun. Bring on next Thursday with the epic return of Alana, Margot, Mason, and Chilton!

  8. Amazing episode and one of the best episodes this season! This episode gave so much without over doing it. Hightlights:
    - the return of Lawrence Fishburne and his scenes with the "detective" was excellent as well as a fine display of acting by two "veteran" actors.
    - Tao Okamoto was..................."perfect"! Casting always gets it right on this series and they've done it again with Chiyoh.
    - the Sogliato "dinner" scene was easily one of the best scenes of this series! Mads and Gillian should do more work together (outside of this series). Brilliant display of dark humor by Mads and Gillian.
Quote of the episode: Dr. Hannibal Lecter to Bedelia ( Sogliato dinner scene is a must see).
Quote: Technically..........you killed him. (You have to see the scene to appreciate it).
Looking forward to next week. 4 THE SECRET TO DR. LECTER'S SPECIAL SAUCE, I am Nobody!!!

  10. I have a feeling, if Fuller is keeping Starling as important as she should be, that whole truth behind the backstory will be a slower burn, because I think he will continue to make his backstory more directly relative to the contemporary story...
