Hannibal without Hannibal is like cooking without a chef.
ReplyDeleteHummmm...quite gory.....
ReplyDeleteI actually liked this more than the premiere. Very dreamy and trippy episode. Surprised at the violence they got away with tonight.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to have Will back. Many amazing scenes - the footage of Will's surgery juxtaposed next to that of Abigail's autopsy stood out but was hard to watch. Next week gets even better....
ReplyDeleteThey certainly used a lot of the red stuff... Pool of blood, squirting, dripping...
ReplyDeleteMuch better than the premiere and I love the expansion of Stephen Hawking concepts here! Multiple universe (everything happens somewhere) and using that as a bridge to give us Will Graham's memory palace. Nice flash back bits throughout too, very reminiscent to the way Hannibal Rising was written (only used with Will and Abigail instead).
ReplyDeleteAnd again some proof of Hannibal waging war with human limitations (God) and I liked the broken heart/valentine aspect. This version of Pazzi is VERY Serioso! Seeing as he has hunted Hannibal before (love "The Monster of Florence" moniker, better than The Monster), I wonder if it will end the same for him or if he will share some Popil aspects????
Looking forward to Lithuiana and whatever this version will reveal about THAT! (saw Chiyoh in the promo, yay!!)
Hannibal lurking was seriously sexy. Oh goodness. <3 <3 <3
ReplyDeleteWhere is Anna ?
ReplyDeleteAlana? You will have to wait and see (unless you would like me to spoil you?!) The idea is that each of these first episodes kind of slowly reintroduces the survivors and shows their involvement...
ReplyDeleteYou are probably right, am just anxious to see Caroline, I come from the same place as she, QC, Canada and there are not many roles for us in the English community
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode. I'm echoing the others here by saying that this was somehow better than the premiere! Just something about seeing Will again made me smile from ear to ear. Fuller making us believe that Abigail was alive then realizing that it was all a figment of Will's imagination practically played with my emotions and ripped my heart out (no pun intended, lol). Though I definitely had some suspicious when she was only talking to Will and no one else (well except for that bit where that priest stared her down at the chapel because he knew that Abigail was haunting Will). And because of how much blood she lost when Hannibal slit her throat back at his carnage in Mizumono. It would have been too farfetched IMO if everyone survived that. Anyways, the two of them teaming up in Italy with Pazzi to hunt Hannibal was great.
ReplyDeleteHannibal conveying his heartbreak to what Will did to him by folding up Dimmond's body in the shape of a heart was utterly beautiful in the most twisted and grotesque way. Such a messed up relationship they have but so mesmerizing at the same time. And then the heart starts beating and transforms into a deformed stag. Amazing. Freaking amazing but oh so terrifying. The parallels of Will and Abigail being taken into the hospital, Will having his wounds repaired while Abigail is having hers stitched up before being taken away inside a body bag. Set to that haunting but gorgeous song in the background makes this one of the most memorable scenes of the show.
Will using his memory palace to find out where Hannibal had been hiding was brilliant! Beautiful imagery during that whole sequence. Rinaldo Pazzi's introduction was really great! So he has tried and failed to catch Hannibal (or in this case "The Monster of Florence") back in the day and is looking to try again. Looks like he has been artful in his murders even 20 some years ago! Awww young Lithuanian Hannibal is really a sight. But Pazzi better be careful when trying to apprehend Hannibal because as Will has said "You don't know whose side I'm on". Beautiful dialogue. And that whole sequence with Will/Hannibal playing "Cat and Mouse" in the catacombs under the Norman Chapel was so tense and so well done. He just looked so heartbroken and you just knew that he wanted to answer Will's call when he shouted out his name, even though he was still deeply hurt. Powerful stuff. And the oh shit! moment of the night "I forgive you". Should be interesting to see if he will feel the same way soon or if this is all a plan by Will once again. The stakes are about to get even higher next week.
Fantastic episode. The scene between Will and Abigail on the steps was heartbreaking. Also loved the juxtaposition later of the autopsy and surgery.
ReplyDeleteA review: http://polarbearstv.com/2015/06/11/hannibal-primavera-review-3x02/
Will's surgery and Abigail's autopsy - that scene moved me to tears. Kacey Rohl was a gem as Abigail.
ReplyDeleteI really appreciated the honesty of the discussions between Will and Abigail about "what if." Because so much of the fandom has been hung up on "what if" since last season, obsessing about what if they had left the night of their last supper. I know I have. And seeing Will think about it, thinking about where they would have gone and what it would have been like if he had run off with Hannibal and Abigail... thinking about it and not blocking off those thoughts with "but that would have been wrong and he's evil" but instead what looked like wistfulness if not regret... that was some painfully honest reflection, there.
ReplyDeleteSomeone else said that it seemed like Abigail was the part of Will that wanted to go with Hannibal... and I think that's accurate, and painful to consider. But even the part of him responding to those wishes didn't seem too sure he didn't want to go with Hannibal. And I'm really curious how big that part of him is. And again, I appreciate the honesty of it. I appreciate him not being all "omg so mad at Hannibal going to get all of the revenge on that evil bastard" but instead thrown into even more of a crisis about who he is and where his loyalties lie.
I love this show, seriously.
Let's count the ways shall we:
ReplyDelete1) Will's return was carried - out brilliantly, but ultimately sad (see number 4).
2) The introduction of the "inspector" as well as the "backstory" was great, but dark like this series should be!
3) "Human Origami" in the shape of a heart (another word for "stag")..............only the "good" Dr. Lecter could come - up with this shit!
4) Abigail Hobbs..........................like Beverly Katz was a mistake..............a big mistake, Mr. Fuller.
Excellent episode and next weeks episode gives us more of the "good" Dr. Lecter's pass as well as a man who certainly wants Hannibal dead, IMO. 4 HANNIBAL'S SECRET RECIPES, I am still Nobody!!!
goddammit, they made us believe Abigail was alive and then they killed her all over again ... i am so heartbroken over will ... my poor baby ;_;
ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, as i said before (i don't know why my comment is gone) this season looks a lot like Inferno and it makes it very interesting to see Italy in that light.
ReplyDeleteAs an Italian I've found a bit... "strange" the Il Mostro matter.. but I really loved the last scene when Will sayd "I forgive you" and that look on Hannibal's face.. Wow! Touching!!
