  1. Finally! Took them long enough and I'm excited for more Ben.

  2. Hopefully that means Bailey has something to do, a big storyline.

  3. Expected, I was wondering why he didnt become regular much earlier.

  4. I thought the only reason he wasn't promoted was because he's a regular in Mistresses. Is he not anymore?

  5. Maybe seeing that his only relevance to the show was tied to Alyssa's character, Savi... I really don't see what his character's purpose would be anymore.

  6. Ummm....what took them so long?

  9. I'm mixed on this. I miss that Grey's used to have recurring characters who only appeared now & then. It gave the series more realty... characters like Joe the bartender, nurse Olivia, nurse Tyler, etc. Ben was one of the last of that type. He's been around for so many years and has yet to have an interesting story, so I struggle to see how he'll suddenly get one. I just hope it means Bailey has some good stuff coming.

We're going to have a massive regular cast in season 12 (Meredith, Alex, Bailey, Richard, Callie, Arizona, Owen, Jackson, April, Jo, Stef, Maggie, Amelia, Ben + new male surgeon) not to mention the new interns and Jackson's mom. Every character who isn't Amelia will be lucky to get 2 minutes per episode..

  11. They need to manage the cast better. The size of the cast has been pretty consistent over the years but what they are doing wrong is create new relationships - platonic and romantic - instead of focusing of the already existing ones. There just not enough screen time to show all these different relationships and character combos.

    Some examples:
    - April and Arizona became closer last season, yet they barely interacted with other this season.
    - Jo was bothered by Alex becoming Mer's new person at the beginning of the season, and it was only addressed again at the end of the season.
    - Owen and Callie bonded over their loneliness only to barely interact with each other during the second half of season.

They need to stick with what they've got and stop randomly throwing two characters together, especially when they don't intend on following through.

  12. Seeing as you don't watch Cyber he has a recurring role there as well lol

  13. I think Lost had that many at one point too.

  14. It'll be 15 with the new male surgeon they're looking for.

  15. the problem is that they only put characters together when it serves the story and the season 'end game'.

Not a "hey, Arizona and Richard haven't talked together since season 7, lets put them together in a room and explore that relationship and Arizona's authority issues that was kind of talked about in season 5 then brought up again once in season 6 and in season 7 once and then never again".

When Arizona and Richard were having those conversations it was about luring Bailey back into General Surgery, and relevant to Bailey's season 5 end game. in season 6 and 7 it was part of the plot for comedic effect. But since then, no issues with authority, because its not relevant to Arizona or anyone else's end game.

  16. maybe now we'll get a conclusion to the Ben's sister storyline

  17. I doubt it... In the show's timeline, at least one and a half year has passed since the last mention of Ben's sister. I think she must have gone through the surgery already given how determined she was.

  18. Better late than never I guess...

  19. So they can kill him off? Pretty likely given bailey and his extensive "will" and last wishes talk...

  20. I'm glad, I love him.

  21. Great news, however the cast is getting quite bloated.
