Yeah i need the episode now, i like that Two doesn't want to be called by her real name, what i don't get is why erase their memories and still send them out on a job to kill people when they didn't even know they had to kill people.
I think it might turn out they were hired to be the good guys and deliver and help the miners, they are probably mercenaries and took the job for the money. But they weren't there to kill everyone.
The files are essentially the crew's criminal records. Five is underage and using a real world modern day comparison, juvenile records are usually harder to access, which might explain the absence of hers. Or as you suggested on the other thread, Five deleted the files herself. Or the writers are withholding information because they dont want to reveal just yet that Five is related to one of the other crew members. Melissa O'Neill (Two) is too young, 26, to have a 15-16 year old daughter in real life, but the character of Two seems older than that. My is Five is Two's daughter, and that crazy story Five told in the episode is something she saw Two do when she was a little girl.
That makes sense, and Five: Two's DAUGHTER?! that'd be insanely awesome!!! Yeah that dream is strange and given what we just found out about the crew, Two doing that could be possible.
The way the actress played the scene where Two does not allow Five to have a gun and the scene when Five wakes up after hitting her head, made me think mother (though older sister might be possible as well).
Makes sense that Two doesn't accept her identity just because a computer tells her who she is. For all we know, it could all be fake and someone is trying to manipulate them.
From the parts of the series trailer that weren't in the pilot, combined with wha we learned at the end of the episode, I think they probably were hired to kill everyone on that planet, but someone got to them first and erased their memories because they're too Dangerous. It might have been their boss, who set up the mission as a trap, competitors or even genuine good guys. About Five, maybe she's not in the file because she's not a criminal like the Others. maybe she's just a kid in a difficult situation who joined the crew after her abilities (whatever they turn out to be) proved how useful she could be. I wonder what One's capabilities will turn out to be. Everyone else's were fairly obvious: Two is the captain, Three is the firepower, Four is the swordmaster, Five is some sort of psychic and Six is navigation. Maybe One will be the strategist or (less cool) the medical training. If he doesn't end up with some sort of obvious ability, then it was probably his knowledge that made him Dangerous. Maybe he knew secrets about powerful people. Unfortunetly, that's probably something he could never get back.
I'm feeling the same way. Given that the multi-corps own the law and are essentially the bad guys, they might be freedom fighters or some such, a thorn in the Goverment's paw, so to speak; the good guys, but not lawful.
Huh i just thought that she was protective over her, but now that i think about it: These people have no memory and yet she feels protective over this girl, it has to be that maternal instinct right?
I thought it was interesting, very clever. I don't know if they remembered what they looked like when they came out of the pods but even if they didn't it's interesting because he seemed to be the nicest guy on the crew at first and then he finds out he's wanted for the most crimes out of them all. It reminds of that lyric from Mulan; "when will my reflection show who I truly am inside". This is why I love space operas, they deal with things other shows never do or simply can't and they always do it so well.
Oh wow i never thought of that, he DOES have more crimes than the rest of the crew. What is very confusing is like you said he seems like the nicest guy of them all, i mean his FIRST thought when he heard what the miners were up against was to help them. Not take the weapons for themselves, not split in half but give them to the miners so they could defend themselves. So to find out who he really is has to be really hard on him. I don't remember that lyric but i like it a lot, huh i thought space operas were just fun Guardians of the Galaxy-like shows?
Well the definition of a space opera is just any drama set in space so Guardians of the Galaxy does fit that. But generally they do deal with a lot of interesting issues and often take an interesting look into the psychological side of humans. Battlestar Galactica, Firefly and Stargate Universe would be the best examples. Star Trek does it in a different way by introducing different cultures with different beliefs (early Stargate did this as well). Personally I just call things like Gurdians of the Galaxy space shows/movies and consider a space opera to be much darker and more serious.
Of everyone on the Raza crew I'm most interested to see how One deals with this. I'm interested to see how Five reacts to not being on the list as well.
Cool, and yeah i hope we see One's feelings about what he's learned, we saw a bit of Two's in the sneak peek but i feel like One will be dealing with it a lot more, am i wrong? I know the ship's called the Raza but since it's feared by the miners i kind of want to call it "Marauder", for now anyway, i know it's a bad name as well but it's not a name that's feared by people.
With Two being in charge it'll be interesting to see if she fails to command with this new information or uses the fact she's in charge as a distraction. Isn't their shuttle already called Marauder?
Yeah O'Neill (Two) is half asian half caucasian while I dont think Ferland (Five) has that particular racial background for the characters to be sisters with the same parents but they could be half siblings. I think mother daughter works better though.
I can see a scenario where 1 is the worse of them all in his previous life. He is the one with the charm thing, which could be a memento of the guy he killed (the guy the girl on the planet talks about) and there were other things in his room that he was looking at that could also have been mementos of his victims.
I saw an interview with the actor that plays One that said that (this season anyway) they're not having a Big Bad. Just old enemies and old victims out for revenge.
But we don't know if even that info was true yet. The files might have been fakes. We don't know who wiped their memories and if they planted fake info yet.
So after seeing what you have seen by now.. what do you think? Are they their real names? Does the Child have a compulsion to break into a Murderers room to play with the puzzle box he has? (Also how far outta left field was that?)
I think it's their real names, but the actual info, not so sure. How she knew about the box is interesting. She seems to know more about what's going on with that ship than she should. I would like to see what her real story is.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm looking forward to the next ep. I have a feeling their identities aren't so cut and dried as they seem.
ReplyDeleteAs in they were framed?

ReplyDeleteCan't wait for it :)
ReplyDelete"Ok Two!" The Android is so adorable.
ReplyDeleteLoving the android, she needs a name, though.

ReplyDeleteI;m calling her Ann, does that work?

ReplyDeleteYup, exactly how I feel. There has to be more to it I think.
ReplyDeleteThis has such a good vibe of Firefly!

ReplyDeleteshe might be my favorite character, and she's meant to be emotionless
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the same way. Given that the multi-corps own the law and are essentially the bad guys, they might be freedom fighters or some such, a thorn in the Goverment's paw, so to speak; the good guys, but not lawful.
ReplyDeleteWhen i heard "Corporations" it reminded me of Continuum, even the creator talked about the Multicorps and sounded very similar to it.
ReplyDeleteHuh i just thought that she was protective over her, but now that i think about it: These people have no memory and yet she feels protective over this girl, it has to be that maternal instinct right?
ReplyDeleteHuh interesting
ReplyDeleteI actually confused an android with a cyborg LOL
ReplyDeleteWhen do you thinmk we'll see our Big Bad? Do space operas HAVE Big Bads?
ReplyDeleteHow did you feel when One looked at his reflection?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was interesting, very clever. ReplyDeleteNo it was the class of ship, the name of the ship id the Raza.
ReplyDeleteGeez that'd be horrible, you're making him sound like a serial killer.
ReplyDeleteSpace operas have the BIGGEST Bads.
ReplyDeleteI saw an interview with the actor that plays One that said that (this season anyway) they're not having a Big Bad. Just old enemies and old victims out for revenge.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess it's not unusual to feel protective over the youngest one, the "baby of the family". Six seems very protective too.
ReplyDeleteThe shuttle is a Phantom Class Marauder.
ReplyDeleteI did wonder what kind of trafficking was meant. Drug, weapon, or human (would go with the kidnapping)?
ReplyDeleteTrue
ReplyDeleteOh ok so i guess it's both LOL
ReplyDeleteWell they're all horrible
ReplyDeleteJust seems like it was too easy to get their names back.
ReplyDeleteI hope there ISNT a United Government. That its just corps who own planets/ run them / guard them etc.
ReplyDeleteLets hope 4 gets fleshed out more. We need something more than a Filipino Ronan Dex (or is 3 going to be taking that role?)
ReplyDeleteBut we don't know if even that info was true yet. The files might have been fakes. We don't know who wiped their memories and if they planted fake info yet.
