Thanks to Stephanie for the heads up.
According to our source, newly appointed co-showrunner Marco Ramirez is referring to season two as “Daredevil vs. the Punisher.” We’ll now take a brief hiatus while you high five everyone in the room. All done? Good! Now obviously we knew that Daredevil and the Punisher would wind up at each other’s throats, but this news makes it seem like the Punisher could be the big bad for the entire second season. Or will he?
Given that the first season ends with — spoiler alert — Matt Murdock turning Kingpin into the police and pledging not to kill in the name of justice, it’s natural that he would be at odds with the Punisher’s take-no-prisoners style of vigilante justice. However, the title of “Daredevil vs. the Punisher” is more of a philosophical battle that’ll take place over the season. With Kingpin out of the picture, a power vacuum will be created that the city’s villainous vermin will try and fill. With all these termites crawling out of the woodwork, the Punisher will likely emerge and try to exterminate them. However, as the self-appointed protector of Hell’s Kitchen, Daredevil is going to have to put a stop to that.

This is going to be amazing. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteWhatever, whatever the premise. I am here for the ride.
ReplyDeleteA murdering hero? Who in their right mind would root for that psycho?
ReplyDeleteFelicity Smoak, Diggle, virtually everyone on Arrow?
ReplyDeleteI figure the plot will go like this: Daredevil and Punisher soon become aware of each others existence, they disagree on the way they should handle the criminals of Hells Kitchen, they fight but soon realize that there's a greater evil and they decide to team up to stop it. Cant wait for season 2!
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 should be good...Frank is in the house!!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Oliver killed and hated it, but this guy sounds like he revels in it so Oliver was a killer, Castle sounds like a murderer.
ReplyDeleteDoes Castle ever even doubt the way he does things?
ReplyDeletehe didn't hate it, he questioned it once Tommy judged him for that.
ReplyDeleteNo, he believes the only way to truly stop the criminals is by killing them.
ReplyDeleteCompletely forgot, sorry Tommy LOL, anyway the latter still valid. Castle sounds like he lived to kill and not care about anything else
ReplyDeleteWell then he's no better than the criminals, he's a villain through and through and he should be rotting in prison.
ReplyDeleteNo, he's a brutal killer without remorse or mercy. The thing about the guy is that the people he's going up against aren't your classic "Oh, I'll destroy this thing to take over the world" cliché bad guys. No, the guy is fighting some creepy sh*t. There're whole organizations that sell human flesh to feast upon (a sect of cannibals if you will).
ReplyDeleteBut he doesn't stop at the real monsters, he's also merciless towards the more harmless criminals
That said he's well respected among the other Marvel characters....more feared than respected because the man, while human and without any special gear, is a military genius.
Watch this short, it stars the first Punisher actor Thomas Jane and kind of tells you everything about the Punisher you need to know in 10 minutes.

Ollie said right in the beginning of the first season that he doesn't rely on killing firsthand. He was never just a straight-up murderer.
ReplyDeleteHe lives to kill those that vow to destroy the lives of people like himself.
ReplyDeleteHis wife and kid were gunned down by mobsters
What a psychopath and he actually considered a hero? Give me a break!
ReplyDeleteand yet he kinda was in season 1.
ReplyDeleteHe may have claimed not to like it but he had a real triggerfinger.
His killcount in season one might actually be higher than Malcolms.
Also: if someone can reason himself out of responsibility he's not really a hero in my book. Saying that you don't like it and doing it anyway until somethig real bad happens is just as bad...if not worse.
Elijah on TVD/TO is the same, he claims to be better than other vampires and yet has the highest killcount
watch the movies, they're better than most comic book films of their time.
ReplyDeleteYou'll get the gist there. He's like the classic 80s action hero, shoot first, never ask questions
Well he's more of a dangerous anti-hero who wants the criminals to pay for all the pain suffering they've caused and most of the time the government disregards him because he deals with the criminals that the government can't
ReplyDeleteWell then he should respect their memory and be BETTER than those mobsters, what would they think of him if they saw him? They wouldn't even recognize him, if he doesn't care about being better than the people he's fighting then he might as well declare himself a villain because that's what he is.
ReplyDeleteIt's weird how we're arguing about this while you defend Oliver for doing the exact same lol
ReplyDelete"and yet he kinda was in season 1."
ReplyDeleteIf he had verbally said he doesn't resort to killing first, then he wasn't a outright murderer. Most of the shots he made were never kill shots. Take a look at all of the battles and you'll notice this. It's only when he's being shot at that he will kill.
Exactly shoot never ask questions, he shouldn't be revered as this great character when all he does is murder and murder and murder and not even think about what he's doing.
ReplyDeletewatch the video I posted above, the baddies he kills are usually like this.
ReplyDeleteHell these people in the video were going to kill a child...
Then amputate them, it's worse than death, if they're dead they're at peace but cut off their limbs they'll be in pain for as long as they live.
ReplyDeleteNo he's a villain, he kills and kills and thinks that's OKAY, no way in hell would that be defined by even the small amount of the word "hero".
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-ARZCQR3gg
ReplyDeletewell...
Strange right? LOL but no seriously Castle sounds 10 times worse than what Oliver has done, does he even have a conscience? Both literal and metaphorical?
ReplyDeleteAt times (for example in the video) he doesn't even do the killing himself, he lets those that were wronged by them decide.
ReplyDeleteThink of Frank as Malcolm Merlyn. Insane, often at odds with other heroes, gets sh*t done
He's not a hero, he's a vigilante
your antipathy towards a character that is as worse as a hero of yours is pretty telling
Yes, dude...I POSTED a video up there. Just watch it and you get a feel for the character.
ReplyDeleteDeadshot = straight through the head
ReplyDeleteA bunch of kill shots as well, he clearly didn't intend to let some people live.
In fact he kind of murders his merry way through the brawn and at times lets the big bads live....and at times he kills them
actually "shoot never ask questions" is kinda funny in a weird way
ReplyDeleteWhat was the first thing Castle did after he grieved his family? Did he at least try not to kill the mobsters? Like you said, he's a military man, he could've wiped the floor with them WITHOUT killing them. If there was no other choice, ANY other choice, COMPLETELY then okay but not if there's choices to take.
ReplyDeleteHe couldn't, different universes dude.
ReplyDeleteSome are serious, some aren't. This one takes a fairly realistic approach, he's a fighter but never better than his opponements, so his fights are ending bloody
Huh now that's a little better, but when he lets them choose does he have a gun to their heads? Because that's not really a choice, there's two: live or die; and i feel like he won't care and kill them anyways.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
ReplyDeleteWut?
ReplyDeleteTo take the example from the video above:
he poured Jack Daniels on the bad guy, since the baddies foot was broken after the fight he couldn't move. "Do you know the difference between justice and punishment", he asks and takes out a lighter. He turns it on and puts it to the ground next to the baddie. He then just casually leaves and goes back to doing his laundry. Suddenly the prostitutes the guy led approach, the kid he was about to kill and ultimately the girl the bad guy raped in the beginning took the lighter and lit him on fire.
Again: WATCH the video
Some thug can beat up a military trained soldier? Hard to believe, if he wants justice then he should know that there are better ways than to essentially became a cold-blooded killer.
ReplyDelete"Casually", what kid of person doesn't feel remorse even if it's a bad guy?
ReplyDeleteare you hellbent to hate the character? Because I feel like I'm talking to a wall here
ReplyDeleteto calm you down: when he harmed an innocent he begged Nick Fury to kill him, so he does have a concience
That's better and the more you explain him i turning around on him, so maybe i can learn to tolerate him, not LOVE him but tolerate him.
ReplyDeleteI think, since Daredevil will probably treat him like a villain, you'll be good with the attitude. However with me the guy has some major points, purely because the character is so differet from all the self righteous heroes. He's self doubting, violent, not up on his high horse and pretty self reflective.
ReplyDeleteBut boy, you will HATE Deadpool, I guess :P

ReplyDeleteYour example is of a guy that tried to kill Ollie too. And it turns out, even that didn't kill Deadshot.
ReplyDeleteAnd to further my point, in season one, during the whole 'List' arc, besides thugs that went after him first, the only "main" targets he killed purposely was Ted Gaynor who was going to shoot Diggle and that assassin that also tried to kill him in "Dead to Rights".
Waiting for Kevin Spacey to jump in here.
ReplyDeleteNo, no. It's a good rule only only few follow it. Too much cleaning afterward maybe?
ReplyDeleteHas there been an approximate date for Daredevil season 2? I thought they still hadn't figured out when the Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders series will come out.
ReplyDeleteSelf-doubting my butt, he doesn't doubt that he shouldn't kill.
ReplyDeleteThat's a villain motto, not a heroe's
ReplyDeleteIt's gonna be interesting. I guess we will see Matt killing someone for the first time even if it's accidental and The Punisher being all like "dude, get over it, he deserved it anyways" They are both so different characters one will be eaten by guilt while the other wont care and will do whatever it takes to get his goal.
ReplyDeleteIt's still good and very practical. With a motto like this one lives looooooooong and successful life.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteHuh, cool idea
ReplyDeleteIt'd be great if it was a different "Big Bad" and both the Daredevil and Punisher are having very conflicting methods of taking him down. Thus clashing heads.
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those that started this (extraordinary) series for Vincent D'Onofrio and will totally miss him.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way I can hyde this and I won't.
Still, I think this is the best new show of the year and I'll wait patiently. Both for season 2 and to see Foggy again ah ah! ;-)
Netflix only said 2016.
ReplyDeleteAs a big fan of all Matt and Frank's interactions, I'm all for this.
ReplyDeleteYou and me both!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the link. It's one of my favorite shorts - if I can call it that. Thomas Jane was an awesome Punisher.
ReplyDeleteI've binge-watched daredevil season 1 this summer and I'm looking forward to seeing season 2. This show is awesome!
ReplyDeleteis there any confirmation that D'Onofrio won't show up in season 2? It's not like the Kingpin wouldn't be a potential target for Frank.
ReplyDeleteBut just because of the annoying conversation above I hope that Frank offs Matt in season 2 and we see demon DD return in season 3
Season 1 had far too many flashbacks and, in my opinion, just became too boring due to all the screen-time they gave Kingpin and his homely girlfriend.
ReplyDeleteAlways hilarious to see grown men getting into arguments about comic book characters. Simon Pegg wasn't kidding.
ReplyDeleteThey changed their plans a bit after Daredevil became a roaring success.
ReplyDeleteDaredevil Season 1 was the best comic book inspired television or streaming program ever. Finally, a comic book series made by adults for adults. If the show runner can equal or beat season 1 in quality that would be a superhero feat.
ReplyDeleteYour perspective is very simplistic if I may say so.
ReplyDeleteFrank was a good cop who lost everything.
And after that he decided to just beat the bad guys at their own game, not take the high road.
It makes him cynical, and disillusioned and complex... morally compromised for sure. But I think he's far from being a bad guy who lacks a conscience.
That's an interesting approach...
ReplyDeleteAnti-hero. He is a hero but doesn't follow the generic attributes of what a hero is supposed to be like. There are loads of them with Vegeta (Dragon Ball Z) being the most prominent. He's a mass murdering villain who had a face-hell turn over the course of the series, eventually becoming a hero of his own right, but would still kill out of convention.
ReplyDeleteHeck, he has a big ego to prove it. :D
