Thanks to everyone who submitted the scoop. We really appreciate it!
NBC is tweaking its fall schedule, replacing one new medical drama, Heartbreaker, with another, Chicago Med. The network last month announced a fall 2015 Chicago Med - Pilotuesday lineup consisting of The Voice leading to Heartbreaker and new variety show Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, to be succeeded by NBC Tuesday 10 PM anchor Chicago Fire in November, when Best Time Ever‘s run ends. Chicago Med, which originated as a planted spinoff episode of Chicago Fire this past season, was previously slated for a midseason launch but will now debut in September behind The Voice. Starting in November, it will form a Chicago 9-11 PM block, paired with the franchise’s mothership series.

Heartbreakers is dead now since its not getting the post Voice slot even in midseason.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will get the Laura slot.
Good for Chicago Med, its going to help Chicago Fire too.
Awesome news. As a Chicago PD fan I was looking forward to Chicago Med a lot more than Heartbreaker.
ReplyDeleteI'll be curious as to how they schedule midseason now, as I had assumed comedies would go on Tuesday post-Voice (Superstore and Telenovela). Perhaps Heartbreaker will take over from Mysteries of Laura?
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Melissa George! I wish her a healthy and beautiful baby.
ReplyDeleteGreat news for CM, I will probably check it out!
Also congratulations to Melissa George.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaker will probably start airing in late spring or summer.
ReplyDeleteI have also said that, the easiest choice NBC can made.
ReplyDeleteI think Shades of Blue will replace TMoL
ReplyDeleteDon't you think they look too similar for that?
ReplyDeleteI saw on twitter that JLO said its premiering Early 2016, maybe post Monday 10pm like SOFA?
ReplyDeleteI think the comedies will be shifted to Sunday and Friday.
ReplyDeleteHeartbreakers will likely never see the light of day after the awful reception it had at the upfronts.
If anyone doesn't want to bother reading the full article, then Heartbreaker was pushed to accommodate Melissa George pregnancy.
ReplyDeleteThis show got a great slot but now it's pretty much screwed. Wonder where they'll schedule it it midseason.
What do you think to this...
ReplyDeletePlayer flops, Chicago Fire debuts on Thursdays post-Blacklist, then Chicago Med moves up to 10pm Tues to make way for comedies at 9pm.
Heartbreaker takes over from Mysteries of Laura, Shades of Blue takes over from Heroes Reborn.
Hopefully it won't even see the light of day.
ReplyDeleteLauras time slot, yank it on Fridays, or getting treatment like State of Affairs had.
ReplyDeleteDoubt they'll move Blindspot. TMoL has only 13 episodes and will be likely done In January.
ReplyDeleteSoB (nice abbreviation, BTW) is more serious that TMoL, but I don;t really see another slot for it.
ReplyDeleteI always thought SOB would take over Heroes so I agree, I like your schedule.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Fridays when PAT flops.
splendidtom said about takeover from Heroes Reborn, its a possiblity too.
ReplyDeleteLike I said below, they won't move Blindspot after only a few episodes.
ReplyDeleteYep when I think more about it it looks more and more like a bad idea.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really tough slot and putting a new show there would be suicide. Heroes isn't exactly new so I think it'll do fine.
ReplyDeleteNBC would rely on JLO star power there. Agreed about tough slot.
ReplyDeleteI think they will just let PAT air out the 13, unless Undateable Live also tanks hard, in which case they will need to replace that hour, possibly with the Apocalypse show (I forget what it got badly renamed to!)
ReplyDeleteGreat move on NBC's part.Love it.Heartbreaker was going to flop either way, this gives Chicago franchise to flourish even more :)
ReplyDeleteHeartbreaker is now dead for sure, was already pretty much dead before this.
ReplyDeleteBingo.Have you seen that bland trailer?LOL!
ReplyDeleteMy assumption for NBC mid-season:
ReplyDeleteSunday: Biggest Loser/Hot&Bothered/Superstore/Shades of Blue
Monday: Voice/Blindspot
Tuesday: Voice/ChiMed/ChiFire
Wednesday: You The Judge/SVU/CPD
Thursday: Emerald City/Blacklist/Game of Silence
Friday: Undateable/Crowded/Grimm/Dateline
I have zero interest in the Chicago franchise and would much rather see Game Of Silence sooner, but I can see how this makes practical sense. One medical show for fall (Chicago Med), one for midseason (Heartbreaker), one for summer (Night Shift).
ReplyDeleteI'm probably going to watch this because I love the cast and I never watched a med show before
ReplyDeletealso I'm thinking about watching the rest of the Chigaco franchise
LOL heartbreaker
ReplyDeleteLOL it was already dead before this.
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire a bit Soapy.
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire is a bit realistic. Both are great entertainment in their own way.

ReplyDeleteThis one? :D
I hope they give their single cams more of a shot than that, but perhaps they will be able to survive with lower ratings on a lower priority night like that.
ReplyDeleteGRRRRRR!!
ReplyDeleteFinally a wise move from NBC. Heartbreaker would likely plummet when The Voice ends its fall cycle, but this show has a better chance to succeed thanks to the other Chicago shows. But I wonder what are they going to do with their comedies on midseason if this proves to be a big win. Wednesdays at 8pm maybe?
ReplyDeletethere are filming a few before she gives birth so it can start in Jan
ReplyDeleteUndateable is only 13 episodes.
ReplyDeleteNew drama on Thursdays at 8 is bad idea
Sunday schedule is suicide.
No and why would I?
ReplyDeleteShe's probably a few months in already and should be back to work in early 2016. In the mean time they can starting airing the ones produced this summer in their midseason schedule and start producing more when she back.
ReplyDeleteBTW, NBC didn't come up with this. The main actress is pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll enjoy both Chicago Fire and PD. Chicago Fire wasn't as good this season, but the first two seasons were amazing, and I love PD.
ReplyDeleteI agree about Chicago Fire. This season disappointed me.
ReplyDeleteI think the smartest move is to try it in summer, but they will squeeze it in somehow into mid-season.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!!
ReplyDeleteNBC is too stupid lol.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. They destroyed a strong performer like The Blacklist completely by their crappy scheduling.Unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteIt's highly unlikely that NBC didn't know she was pregnant before they announced the fall schedule. This show doesn't really have a lot of action so she could probably work till very late ion her pregnancy. By that time, they'd have enough episode to air it in the fall. It just seems like NBC is using it as an excuse to push this show.
ReplyDeleteFinally a wise move from Melissa George's fetus.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they don't touch Blindspot, I don't care what they do. I need my Sullivan fix.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Melissa George on her pregnancy.
We can thank Melissa's embryo for this.
ReplyDeleteSo true. The Blacklist will probably only get 5 seasons.
ReplyDeleteThat fetus is already more intelligent than NBC.
ReplyDelete4, I think.
ReplyDeleteI'll give it 5 because of Sony.
ReplyDeleteYay Chicago med
ReplyDeleteI don't see them giving any of their comedies a shot next season (ie. the post-Voice Tuesday slot).
ReplyDeleteWith the poor performance of NBC's comedies it's smart for them to try a solid drama after the Voice.
Lastly, if they really wanted comedies believed in their comedies they wouldn't have pushed their only comedy hour to Friday (while at the same time leaving TMOL in Wednesday...).
I know, but they could have done a lot of dumb moves instead of this. After all, it's NBC ;)
ReplyDeleteIt hasn't been confirmed how many eps, NBC ordered for Undateable.
ReplyDeleteEmerald City is a limited series.
NBC Sunday's in the Spring are always suicide. May as well try something different such as buzzy Latina shows. Where else can NBC pair Shades of Blue and Hot&Bothered other than Sunday next Spring?
I am thinking the same thing. It's a great excuse to push a show.
ReplyDeleteVery smart move by NBC. Chicago Fire does well after The Voice and Chicago Med should be even more appealing to The Voice's audience.
ReplyDeleteIt happened with luck, but NBC now has their two most promising projects, Blindspot and Chicago Med, behind The Voice in the fall. If NBC doesn't get two hits out of this, they ought to close up shop.
"Heartbreaker is dead now since its not getting the post Voice slot even in midseason."
ReplyDeleteExactly. The most ominous thing about the Deadline article is that scheduling will be announced later. Which, on first thought, is a no-brainer statement but in reality translates into Heartbreaker better start looking for a home elsewhere. Chicago Med, if it works, will not be stunted at 13 episodes and will continue throughout the Spring. Thus, eliminating any chance for Heartbreaker to be placed midseason to compete internally. Heartbreaker will not be held to summer as that is where The Night Shift is rumored to be returning to.
what a joke! Chicago Fire is the original show and it's the only one airing in November.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing Shades Of Blue will land Wednesdays at 8 PM.
ReplyDeleteWhat did we learn from all this? NBC can make smart scheduling decisions as long as the leads get pregnant.
ReplyDeleteNow we know what must be done to get a cohesive Fall 2016 lineup. Get started!
"It's a great excuse to push a show."
ReplyDeleteConsidering the pregnancy, awesome use of the word push.
I am not excited about Chicago med, and I have like the Chicago fire since day one, and Chicago pd, I guess he is just trying to do the whole third watch thing again, but in different shows this time.,
ReplyDeleteVery logical schedule. I have You The Jury Fridays at 8 PM, Shades Of Blue Wednesdays at 8 PM, and comeides/Reaper Sundays 9 to 11 due to the Tuesday change, but other than that, spot on what I'm thinking.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if NBC will pass up the chance to pair Shades of Blue up with Hot&Bothered for a solid Latina block of programming. Of course I could be wrong, since JeLo said SOB would be coming "early 2016" (football and awards would mean that SOB would be pushed to March if it were to go to Sunday).
ReplyDeleteAside from that, I have "You The Judge" on Wednesday to serve as a compatible lead-in for SVU. I think NBC will keep comedies on Friday so that they can have at least 1 comedy hour through the season.
Lastly, I forgot about "The Reaper". I believe "The Reaper" could serve as a strong option for Thursday 8pm. It'll likely skew older and male, which would make it very compatible with The Blacklist.
It's not the fact that it will only get 4 or 5 seasons, its the fact that it hit a 1.2 in its second season. I told everyone that it was going to get carried to syndication with numbers in mid to high 1s at best, but no one listened.
ReplyDeleteMakes much more sense than having Heartbreaker there, Chicago Med is guaranteed to do at least decent, which is far more than could be said for Heartbreaker
ReplyDeleteBad news for Hearbreaker... and it wasn't looking great to begin with...
ReplyDeleteyes I wanted that!
ReplyDeleteGood idea. You have the audience from all of Dick Wolfs other shows that will probably tune in and then those looking for a new medical show with a difference so I'm sure it will be a hit. Not sure I was a big fan of Heartbreaker from the promo but who knows it may turn out to be a good show
