I think i will have to start watching this show
ReplyDeleteExcellent news !
ReplyDeleteSame here. I like Vera Farmiga a lot. But I didn't watch Psycho yet!
ReplyDeletePlus, it's a lot of catching up to do...And I've got enough shows that I'd like to check out/catch up on already, ugh...Decisions, decisions...
OMG AWESOMEE NEWS!! I want this show to NEVER END!
ReplyDeleteGood to know I'll be enjoying Vera Farmiga for two more seasons.
ReplyDeleteamazing news!
ReplyDeleteExcellent! They can finish their five year plan! This def makes up for loosing The Returned! Thank you A & E.
ReplyDeleteYat about Bates Motel, Boo about the Returned (oh well at least we still have the french one to enjoy)
ReplyDeleteDid they officially cancel that? :/
ReplyDeleteYay!! Excellent news for a show with a five year plan! :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome news.
ReplyDeleteYASSSSS~
ReplyDeleteBates Motel renewed and Xbox One is getting backwards compatibility. Today is a good day!
Yes. http://www.spoilertv.com/2015/06/the-returned-cancelled.html
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same situation.
ReplyDeleteSo that's why Xbox is trending on twitter!
ReplyDeleteGreat. But I hope those two will be the last ones (not because it's bad, but I want a great ending).
ReplyDeleteYou don't have to watch Psycho to understand the series ;)
ReplyDeletePlus, it's only 10 episodes per season, so it's not to much.
Plus 2, Vera is AMAZING in this. You'll love it.
Is this series a one where you have to be smart to understand it? Is it a show like penny dreadful where the writing is smart and complicated instead of being easy to understand. Do you know what i mean?
ReplyDeleteI kinda had a feeling they were trying for a 2 season renewal, since it was taking so long.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean, I follow Penny Dreadful too (add to that, that english is not my mother language, so it's one step more difficult to me with all that "old vocabulary") XD
ReplyDeleteNo, this one's pretty straightforward.
It has mysteries per season, and the characters are very three dimensional, but it's pretty easy to follow and understand.
Okay that is great! Thx for telling me because i prefer those Types of shows over the really "smart" ones
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is great news!
ReplyDeleteFantastic news!
ReplyDeleteVera was married to Sebastian ( Mikael - TVD/The Originals ) Roche from 1997 to 2005 and her sister is Taissa ( Violet/Zoe - American Horror Story ) Farmiga right ?
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, I'm not sure what you mean?
ReplyDeleteThe Showrunners have said on multiple occupations that they felt five years is what they needed for their retelling/prequel of Psycho. This means that A & E gave them the go ahead to reach that goal.
This is from March:
"We’ve got great news for “Bates Motel” fans -- the A&E series is not ending anytime soon. With Season 3 premiering this Monday, co-creator and executive producer Carlton Cuse revealed there is a five-season plan for the “Psycho” prequel."
I totally agree with anyone, that if they wanted, they could go beyond "Psycho" and that five years was probably their minimum. I'm just grateful to at least get what had been said to be set out for.

ReplyDeleteOMG.....YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
I watched 3 out of 4 Psycho films and Then the 3rd season of this show snd I won't watch S1 or S2 but I will watch the 4th season of this :)
ReplyDeleteSeason 1 was exceptional IMO.
ReplyDeleteWo-Frickin-Ho!! Last season was just stellar, even if we know where this dysfunctional mother-son duo will end up I can't wait to see what happens along the ride!! Emmy for Vera!!
ReplyDeleteYeah so happy about it after the end of season 3 they'd better to renewed
ReplyDeleteYAY! Season 3 was so good!
ReplyDeleteI really need to give this show a second try. Only watched the first two episodes when they first aired and never got around to watch it anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis.
ReplyDeleteI would recommend the movie 'Psycho' to anyone who hasn't seen it, though. Classic horror/suspense film.
Of course. It won't hurt, and is a f*ing masterpiece ;)
ReplyDeleteVERY happy about this news. I'd been hoping for/expecting news about season 4, but the news we're getting a season 5 as well is a pleasant surprise. Good on ya, A&E. Look forward to the show's return, then!
ReplyDeleteGreat news! This show has really improved and the latest season was the best yet IMO.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't think it should have more than 5 seasons - assuming the show ends in a similar way to the movie, another 20 episodes would be a perfect amount of time to end it in a satisfying way.
I know about Taissa yes
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise, the show does well enough to warrant it's end-game goal of five seasons.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I think I'm out. The first season was quite good, but it went downhill FAST. Seasons two and three were just a mess of ideas flung on the wall, and the show seems to have lost track of its conceit and is now running like a plodding formula. At this point, it's nothing more than a showcase for Freddie Highmore and Vera Farmiga.
Season 2 was average but Season 3 improved quite steeply IMO and according to majority.
ReplyDeleteThe producers have always said that this is a 5 season show. They'll be ending it on their own terms
ReplyDeleteThe producers have always said that this is a 5 season show
ReplyDeleteChecked Wikipedia and yes she was married to Sebastian.
ReplyDeleteEh, I've a difference of opinion then. I place season two and three on about the same scale, and both were quite a step down from the first for me.
ReplyDeleteToo many subplots that never really go anywhere significant, and the arcs of Norman and Norma are always taken to one extreme or the other. Their evolutions should be much more gradual and subtle, not a dual face where one is a creepily lovey-dovey, and the other is screaming at the top of its lungs. Nuance, please.
I think the only reason people are questioning it is because they haven't officially said that these are the last two seasons.
ReplyDeleteThe first season had its share of subplots that didn't go anywhere.
ReplyDeleteCarlton Cuse confirmed it in March this year: http://www.ibtimes.com/bates-motel-executive-producer-says-ae-series-will-last-five-seasons-1839188
ReplyDeleteVery true. But I guess that was before I was realized they were going nowhere.
ReplyDeleteThe show was also still new in its first season, and so its character dynamics were exciting at the time. Now, we just see the same character dynamics play out every few episodes like a plodding formula.
The think the problem is that there simply wasn't enough material to sustain a full series. I've grown bored with Bates Motel now, and I can't see my interest being re-ignited.
That's just him saying that there's a five-season plan, before the third one even premiered, and certainly long before this renewal was made; I'm talking about an official announcement that the fifth season is going to be the final one. I fully expect that to be the case, but I also would have thought that with them picking up two more seasons, they would have mentioned them being the last ones. Again, I'm expecting them to stick to their plan, I'm just wondering why they didn't mention the end of the show in this press release.
ReplyDeleteHe stated in the Reddit AMA on April 30th that there are 20 episodes of the show left:
ReplyDelete"And I can say, for sure, that there will be a number of ups &
downs in the remaining 20 episodes, that we'll follow for the next 2
seasons"
I didn't know that, thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear they won't be dragging things out longer than is necessary. I was worried because I remember Cuse saying something about how BM was 'the lost 70 episodes of Twin Peaks' or something like that so I wondered if he was planning on having 7, which would be too much for this show IMO.
I hope so. Again, I believe Cuse, I'm just wondering if A&E has the same plans as he does.
