UPDATE: Thanks to Richard Dower for the heads up on this Interview with Clark Gregg.
Thanks to Richard Dower for the heads up.
The post encourages fans to take a screenshot and lighten the filter in order to uncover the secret message, but we went ahead and took care of that set for you.
As can be seen clearly above, the photo poses the question, "Can You Keep a Secret?" This could be a reference to "Secret Warriors" by Jonathan Hickman and Stefano Caselli, the series from which the show draws a lot of influence. In that series, Daisy Johnson (which is Skye's birth name) leads a sleeper team of superpowered peers called a caterpillar team. After Terrigen is exposed to the general population at the end of "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s" second season, it's possible that Skye will get a sleeper super team in the show -- something that was teased when Coulson handed her a blue folder labeled "Caterpillar" in the season finale. The tags on the original post also call back to Skye's time with the Rising Tide, a cyber activist group which hasn't been seen since the first season.

What's the difference between the original Instagram photo, and the one that's been manipulated? It just looks like a larger-sized, and lower resolution crop of the exact same image...
ReplyDeleteOh please give the other characters storylines that just don't focus on skye. I like skye but the show shouldn't center around her.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think most of us got the Secret Warriors thing already from Skye telling Coulson "People like us need to be kept a secret" while talking about creating a team of superheroes, and also the fact that it's called Project Caterpillar (Fury talks to Quake/Daisy about caterpillars as a metaphor in the SW comics), and the fact that the showrunners have mentioned several times that SW is an inspiration for the series. Hence their being asked about it in interviews after the finale. Which is my long-winded way of saying, way to not tell us anything. *pouts*
ReplyDeleteWhy caterpillars?
ReplyDeleteCaterpillars are maybe conceived as undesirable but they go through a transformation to become beautiful things: butterflies. Or that's how I see it, anyway.
ReplyDeleteVery philosophical LOL
ReplyDeleteVery intrigued about the secret. Looking forward to finding out more for Season 3 :)
ReplyDeleteHere comes Secret Warriors! Woot.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what secret they are talking about. Anyone?
ReplyDeleteThe thought is that the Secret Warriors is forming with Skye at the helm.
ReplyDeleteInteresting i want to see what kind of secret it is.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me something about these Secret Warriors?
ReplyDeleteIt's essentially a secret team of super-powered heroes. In the comics Fury's the leader, and in the comics Skye is actually on the team.
ReplyDeleteYep, the message "hidden" at all. There is really no need to make any changes to the original photo to read it.
ReplyDeleteSecret Warriors?
ReplyDeleteThat's the popular theory, yeah.
ReplyDeleteWell, we still have two weeks before Comic Con and maybe one or two more before they start shooting the next season, chances are real spoilers won't come before then.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteI think it's the circles surrounding the tagline. Very reminiscent of Hickmans 'Wheels within wheels' image that he used throughout Secret Warriors.
ReplyDeleteSecret warriors!!! I love this so much...S3 will be amazing!!
ReplyDeletehot!!!!!!!!! Cannot wait!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay. I honestly wasn't sure if I was missing something...
ReplyDeleteThis season break is going to kill me, I also really want to see the gag reel for Season two...
ReplyDelete"Beloved Skye" Clarck you're killing me with feels, I love you so much.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think we're only through a month and half, with three more months in front of us to deal with, the wait is excruciating! :(
ReplyDeleteOh God, I was convincing myself that it was shorter than that. It's going to be painful as hell :(
ReplyDeleteGreat interview with Clark Gregg, i NEED Grant Ward to be redeemed. Come on the Whedons know how to redeem a character, so PLEASE redeem Ward!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSame here, oh why'd you say that Demileto?! LOL
