Fox is developing a 24 spinoff that would revolve around a new twentysomething male terrorist hunter, but the intention would be for Kiefer Sutherland‘s Jack to weave in and out as a guest star, franchise overlord Howard Gordon confirmed to TVLine Sunday at the Critics Choice Television Awards.
The project would find the new male antihero working alongside an older, more seasoned female agent (not Yvonne Strahovski’s Kate Morgan, although she also may appear). It would also launch as a limited series, similar to last year’s acclaimed 24: Live Another Day, but I’m told the offshoot could easily become a long-term property for Fox.
24: LAD vets Manny Coto and Evan Katz will serve as writers and EPs.

agree. Jack was the heart and soul of 24..Without him in the lead, I just don't know how interested I would be. Even if that lead was the gorgeous Yvonne. No Jack, no 24.

Of course it could work but also major chances for it to flop. I would go for someone in his early 30s and make it shorter like the previous season.

ReplyDeleteChris Pratt is 35. They're looking for an actor in his twenties. That will give the series more longevity.

ReplyDeleteWould rather have Yvonne as the focus but I wouldn't really mind as long as it's good. I jumped on at the latest mini-series though so will have to go back and play catchup at some point. Probably will be a long term project.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a horrible idea. You can't take a character like Jack Bauer and have a show without him as the lead. If they want to feature other characters, don't call it 24.

ReplyDeleteEven with FOX'S horrible season they have just had I cannot believe they not only would be willing to go without Kiefer but to go as long as a regular season to boot. No way will this work out for them
ReplyDeleteDammit...bring it back but as a limited series? already pissed that there will be a new lead with no connection to Jack, no long lost son or anything lol. If they want us to sample something new they better come hard and strong and keep it the 24 hour format. tho the Live another Day did already with first 95% of the show in hour per ep format.
ReplyDeleteWithout Jack it will not be the same. For me Jack was one of my favourite TV characters and 24 is still being my favourite TV show. I want to see more seasons of 24 but with Jack.
