Wicked City and Heartbreakers - New Dramas to Recast Roles

With the upfronts over, networks and studios are focusing on tweaking some of the newly picked up series, which sometimes involves recasting. Several roles have been confirmed as getting recast so far.

That includes Jessie on NBC’s soapy medical drama Heartbreaker, played in the pilot by Don Hany. Inspired by the life of Dr. Kathy Magliato, the project follows the outspoken Alex Panttiere (Melissa George), one of the rare female heart-transplant surgeons. Dr. Jessie Shane is the hospital’s new Chief of Surgery.

New ABC crime drama Wicked City is recasting three roles. The first season of the anthology series follows a 1982 murder case centered on the rock ’n’ roll, cocaine-infused revelry of the Sunset Strip. Being recast are the parts of Jack Roth (played in the pilot by Adam Rothenberg), one of the two cops at the center of the investigation; Jack’s wife Vicki, played by Anne Winters; and Diver, played by Darrell Britt-Gibson, a paparazzo specializing in crime scene photography.

  1. Hooray for the recasting of Adam Rothenberg!! Last week Amazon announced season 4 of the BBC
co-production Ripper Street, and I was worried Rothenberg wouldn't be resuming his role because of the conflict with Wicked City. I am now far less worried.

  3. Deadline edited the original story. The role of the wife in Wicked City was played by Holly Fain (Winters plays the role of the daughter).

  4. Bethany Joy Lenz' role on Shonda Rhimes' "Catch" series for ABC will also be recast.
