  1. The best villain in my opinion is Wilson Fisk, brilliantly portrayed by Vincent D’Onofrio and highly compelling. One of the things I thought which made him brilliant was the character deveolpment and incredible dialogue his character went through and said, e.g.

Wilson Fisk: “Do you think that rambling on the internet will change anything?”
Ben Urich: “People seek the truth no matter where they find it.”
Wilson Fisk: “That may have been the case when you and I were younger. This world around us is preoccupied with celebrity weddings and videos of cats, but complicated issues, issues that matter, they take too much focus, they take too much time away from texting and 1000 channels on the satellite dish.
Ben Urich: “Guess I just have more faith in humanity.”
Wilson Fisk: “So did Christ if I recall.”

The realisation he had in the finale episode where he recited a story from the bible, the one about the traveller was absolutely poignant. I also really loved his portrayal of his backstory and the imagery of the ‘rabbit in the snowstorm.'

    Others:
Loki, the most fun villain. I enjoyed Dottie on Agent Carter (Please be Renewed) and Ronan on GOTG.

  2. They don't really have great villains imo. I guess if I had to choose I'd go with Fisk on Daredevil and John Garrett on AOS. I liked season 1 Raina and pre-silly-love-story-villain-Ward as well.

  3. Loki, Bucky, Cal, Ward and Nebula. Honorable mention to Ronan and Dottie.

For me, Marvel does best when it does crazy, clever or both. Bucky is the only villain I find straight up intimidating. Other than that, Marvel villains are best when they're fun.

Full disclosure - I haven't seen Daredevil or Ultron yet, so I have no reference for those.

  4. Gran Ward NOT a villain, neutral but why no Thanos? is it because we haven't FULLY seen him>

  5. From the movies

Then Ultron is my favourite, he is funny, terrifying and entertaining to watch. You also feel a tiny bit sorry for him, just a tiny bit and then he does something crazy and its like hahah please die. Wonderful.

    From the TV shows

x Cal is such so delightful, Kyle plays the role so well.

x Fisk is really great, having 13 eps to fill out his backstory definitely helped.

x I miss Garrett in many ways, once the Hydra reveal happened he just embraced the villainy

  6. Fisk & Ultron are missing from this list...

Went for Dottie (loved her), Loki (no contest), Ronan (a real villain, although can't unsee him dancing off in the outtakes), Cal (he's awesomely portrayed) & Red Skull (again a real villain)

  7. I loved Ultron as a villian but besides that I would go with Loki because in the end he is a true villian and everything he did was for his own benefit :)

  8. Are you including Daredevil given it referred to the events of Avengers - if so, Kingpin was f***ing awesome baddie!

  18. I think overall AOS has some of the better villains/antagonists in the MCU simply because they have more time to develop the characters and we get a chance to see why these characters behave the way they do. Ward is not great antagonist because he is the embodiment of all evil because it's a lot more complicated than. He's a good antagonist because we and the team trusted him, cared about him, even loved him and he betrayed that trust.

But with the movie villains there is only so much character development you can do in two hours. Even von Strucker benefited from AOS fleshing out the character. He would've been even more disappointing without all the name dropping on AoS. But with the background I got from the show at least I knew what type of monster he really was and why he deserved what happened to him.

  22. Sorry for not including Ultron & Fisk. Daredevil and AoU hadn't yet been released when I submitted this and I didn't know if the poll would be posted before or after they were.

    My picks:
    - Fisk - portrayed with brilliance and so much pathos by Vincent D'Onofrio (his voice is amazing). He's the anti-stereotypical villain in that he doesn't enjoy doing evil, despite his utter commitment to his cause. And when he loses his shit and starts to beat someone into a bloody pulp, he's downright terrifying.

    - Bucky/TWS - because his storyline is one of my favorites in the MCU. The poignance of his friendship with Steve in turn leads to the cruelty of Cap having to battle his best friend.

  23. I like how you balk at Ward being on the poll, but someone like Gonzales, Bucky or Dottie is A-okay...
