Okay, but honestly? The only /real/ Queen of Darkness was Cruella. Maleficent and Ursula had a more... misunderstood vibe going on with their arcs this time around. That said, I voted for Maleficent 'cause I just love Kristin Bauer van Straten (and Maleficent of course, but mainly because of Kristin). :)
I love, love, love Maleficient and I think she is one of the most enjoyable OUAT characters ever for me but since I could only vote for one and the question was specifically put in terms of Queen of Darkness, I've voted for Cruella, who I love equally as much and who is just pure darkness! Really love this arc and these two ladies! I didn't really care about Ursula though, although I wish they would have kept her around until longer as she added to the dimension that this was indeed a qod storyline, which they have completely deviated from nowadays.
In a lot of ways, I think Season 4B is what Season 2 as a whole should have been. There is just too much material here to cram into half a season as I personally feel exploring the QOD backstories and the relationships with each other and the other characters would be worth half a season, with the author stuff worth another half, and I also think thematically this would have fit better after Season 1.
It depends on what perspective tbh. I loved Maleficent with the rattle and I think Kristin Bauer is amazing. She's the most powerful. Cruella can win it too because well her name definitely suits her. As for Ursula, the name of QoD doesn't suit her but I got to say I loved her flashback.
At the end I would say Cruella is the most villainous, Maleficent the most powerful and with the most powerful reason. And Ursula was the most redeemable who could have potential but maybe not on earth :)
cruella of course, she was pure evil. a shame they didn't use her more. maleficent was cool too. Ursula was done in a wrong way. her animation version is awesome but this one was boring.
My favorite is Cruella because she was the real psychopath. I think Ursula was even more misunderstood than Regina, I wish she would have stayed in Storybrooke :(
Cruella was the best. Ursula never got me and Maleficent... I was so excited about here but she isn't even a villian anymore, and her backstory with Aurora was just lazy writing. So no matter how good Kristin is Maleficent sucks right now. BTW how was Maleficent's heart the darkest? It seems to be stupid after all we saw. It should have been Cruella.
Maleficient did kill those soldiers because they were in her way on the bridge to the magical tree. She also put Brian Rose under a sleeping curse and then Aurora. Also wanted to kill Stefan and Rose but decided to make them suffer by making it impossible for their daughter to wake up instead. She did also try to kill both David and Emma in Season 1. She just seems sympathetic because the Charmings wronged her but hey turn about is fair play.
While Cruella is pure evil deep in her heart, I just can't take a villain seriously if all she can do is harm animals. She's like a Rottweiler with no teeth. She threatens everybody but can't kill anyone herself.
That's why I said this time around. In general, yes, she is a Queen of Darkness, and rightfully so. But for her arc in this season she is the mother that had her daughter taken from her and thought her dead for decades. I agree with you 100%.
Cruella wanted her Happy Ending as well but she wasn't willing to be nice for it. That's why she is my favorite one cause she was a true Queen of Dark who wouldn't dare walk in the light.
True. She did get Regina to steal August with the intent to let the Dark One torture him though. So I don't think she's reformed or sympathetic by any means. She whines about losing her child but she doesn't bat an eye lid about letting another's child be tortured which is actually worst than what the Charmings did.
I don't see how that is worst, for me the whole thing is a big gray jumbled ball of string. And no, I don't think she is reformed, not in the way that the writers are trying to make Regina be. I'm fairly certain that if something happens that is not in her liking (say something happens to Lily) she is gonna turn full Smaug and burn Storybrooke to ashes. But apart from some *questionable* (sarcasm and giggles galore) decisions this season, she is not as dark as she could have been written, what with being titled a Queen of Darkness.
Last Reply :) I think Maleficent is worst than the Charmings because of intent. Just as it works in Criminal Law, the result might be the same but the punishment is greater because of differences in the intent. She intends to have a 10 year old boy tortured. Even if it is to get her daughter back that's a line no good person will cross. The Charmings didn't know they were going to make a human child orphaned. In fact, that was where they explicitly drew the line. Putting darkness into a human being, They just thought they were putting darkness into an animal. I know in this day and age, there is stuff like animal rights but even within the criminal justice system intending to kill and torture a dog is deemed a lot less worse than trying to kill and torture a person and the scale of punishment reflects that. To me, Maleficient is pure evil because she is willing to sacrifice not just human beings but human children for her own happiness within the present arc. Yes, she takes care of family, Hitler also took care of his inner circle, doesn't make him any less of a monster.
She also intended to torture and kill Cruella when she found out Cruella lied about Lily. So that's also that :) She was just denied the opportunity.
Lastly, she experiences no remorse for what she tried to do to August. The Charmings spent their lives atoning for their actions and apologized to Maleficient and intended to do so to Lily. Personally I hate the Charmings and wish they would be killed off. I just can't stand the goody too shoes. I just don't think you have to be a mass murderer to show you're a queen of darkness. Callous disregard and cruelty to other sentient human beings does it for me even if it stops short of murder.
Sorry. I just miss Television without pity. There is no place to analyze TV shows on the internet anymore lol. I also love Once so much :) I'm a huge fan of Regina as you can tell. LOL It was nice having a conversation with you!
Voted for Cruella - pure villainy, darling! Though Maleficent is a close second, with an interesting story and portrayal that, hopefully, will continue into next season.
Cruella because she was brilliant. Definitely my number one. The accent, outfit and the sheer madness - wonderful! And Ursula who? Maleficient is pretty cool but not in this story arc. The only interesting thing was when she got high on the Sleeping Curse although I sympathized with her about the dark and inhuman deed of the Charmings.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteCruella!
ReplyDeleteCruella! Unfortunately she is dead though
ReplyDeleteCruella was the most entertaining one.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Cruella was truly evil. Killed because she liked it - nothing else.
