Well, on this site, not so much, but otherwise, The 100, absolutely. Because it's amazingly awesome and everyone ever should watch it but they don't. Or give it awards. Or cover it or even mention it, really. And now I'm sad.
On the list, I love Jane the Virgin and iZombie, and I'm not sure which to pick. Jane has the awards nominations and the critical love, but iZombie has the better ratings, so I'm not sure which makes in more underrated ... unless I'm taking it literally, I suppose, as Jane literally has ratings that are under iZombie's. But I'll probably go iZombie, because outside of the nicely steady ratings and again, this site, I don't see that much coverage or attention for it. So yeah. iZombie.
As a general thing, The 100, by a mile, but not on this site, so I agree with it not being there, kuddos for the user who submitted it.
I would have said Reign half a year ago but now I am almost ashamed of the show after they've assassinated the Mary character.
So my answer is The Messengers, since it is the only other I watch and I wish more people were giving it a chance (although I see why the cw banished it to fridays since it has no mass appeal and has a terrible concept to market).
The Messengers. Jane the Virgin got a Golden Globe and iZombie gets 0.7's, so people do know those shows exist. I know most people would have voted The 100 (probably me included), but for some weird reason it's not here...
Do you mean underrated based on the opinions of critics, popularity with the general public, award show opinion (e.g .Emmy/Golden Globe standards) or TV ratings? I think the only one on that list that might fit most of that criteria is The Messengers, but that's mainly because it got a terrible slot and was therefore destined for failure due to lack of good promotion. But it hasn't been on long enough for me to really judge it properly.
As for the other shows, I wouldn't say that any of them are underrated. by most of the above criteria. At this site, some of these shows seem to be overrated. I watch Reign..and I agree with whoever said that it might have been underrated in season 1, but season 2 hasn't been great.
Anyway, I'd probably go with "other", because based on critical acclaim or awards standards, I think that Flash and Arrow do not get the acclaim they deserve. But in terms of ratings and popularity, they do very well. The Vampire Diaries was definitely underrated in the first 2 seasons, but not any more.
I voted for iZombie, because it might have good ratings, a lot of people hate on it even without seeing. It doesn't get the chance it deserves, even when it's so good. Besides, The 100 is underrated ratingswise, but it has some critical acclaim, especially among fans. Currently, I think The Originals is kind of underrated.
Eh? Only 5 shows of a way bigger lineup full of shows with little to no actual appreciation?
In fact all of theCWs shows are underrated. Yes, even Arrow. It's frowned upon by comic book fans and ridiculed by media outlets. More than once did I have to bash my head in anger when hearing stuff like "Arrow is theCWs attempt at creating a mixture of Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill while pretending to be about Green Arrow" (albeit I don't disagree with these things anymore they already said that when season 1 was airing).
Or how about "The Originals"? Hell this show is ridiculed as a romantic focused drama while actually it's probably the one CW show focusing the least on romance. It should be up there with Buffy, Angel and other mystery hits but is publicly degraded as a Twilight knock off.
The 100 is the one sci-fi show the sci-fi fandom should watch but doesen't because it airs on theCW.
A network that itself is highly underrated.
Reign? Underrated? No, I actually disagree because it deserves all the crap it gets, if not even more. Sorry Reign fans but something dressed up as a historic tale but actually focused to tell a soap-y drama about "who bangs who next week" is deserving of the low appreciation it gets
iZombie has yet to prove itself, I loved the preivous episode but I'll wait until s1 is wrapped to properly judge it
No, definitely not on the site, but the question doesn't necessarily specify that; it just says underrated, and most places, The 100 wins in that category. Although I can see why they might not want to put it on the list, since if it were there, it'd win by a lot.
Its pilot drove some viewers away. I remember it premiering 0.1 higher than the Arrow episode of that day. Don't be delusional. Maybe iZombie/Originals like ratings but it can never ever get those Flash like ratings.
Um, I said The 100 SHOULD get those ratings, not that it does. The thing is I think the show is so good that it deserves those ratings and more, but sadly it will never get them
The Messengers obviously. People and network didn't even give it a chance and that can't be said about iZombie, so I have no idea why people vote for it.
This is true. Every time I try to recommend a show that's on the CW, the moment the words "it's on the CW" come out of my mouth, I can see the person tuning out. It's a shame, now that there are so many more good shows on the channel. Arrow and The Flash have gotten enough of a reputation by now that it's quite as bad with them, but try selling someone a serious sci-fi show (The 100) or a show based off a telenovela (JtV) with the words "it's on the CW" attached, and it's just an uphill battle. No matter how many times you say, "No, but seriously, it's so good," almost nobody will listen because of what channel it's on.
iZombie. The title and the fact that the main character is a good zombie may turn some people off but it's quite a fun show and not as silly as it may seem.
Have you watched Season 2? I swear it gets better and better..the first few episodes are a bit meh but it just gets so better, trust me :) It's amazing.
Is it really untrue, though? I like The Flash, Arrow, and Jane the Virgin but every single one of these shows has a love triangle. Some of them have love "shapes we don't have words for". I can't help but think all of these shows, while good, would be better if they weren't on The CW.
The Messengers. End of story. Best show that no one is watching.
I see a lot of comments about The 100. BS. One of my favorite shows and I'd love to see it be more popular but it's definitely not "underrated", especially online. It's getting a third season. It gets lots of positive critical feedback, it's often on the "popular" section at Netflix, I definitely don't think it counts as underrated.
I watched through episode six of S1. The main character, Clarke, really kills it for me. Someone else said, and I think this is spot on, her last name should be Kent. She's way too perfect and it is infuriating to have to listen to her talk down to everyone else every episode. When she does happen to make a mistake they go out of their way to show that it isn't her fault.
Much like Dollhouse it feels like this should be an ensemble show that is tied down by a weak main character.
I don't feel like this is something that will improve in S2 because a quick CTRL+F of the episode descriptions returns "Clarke, Clarke, Clarke, Clarke," etc.
Hmm, I do get what you mean but I feel like a lot of Season 2 is the downfall of Clarke so now that you say that I'm thinking Season 1 portrayed her as the perfect image just to emphasise her changing so much. But, well, she is the main character so I guess I understand if you don't like her you can't really watch the show. It is really good, though. So brilliant, and surprises you at every turn (and I don't think I've ever watched a show with such less romance scenes in it - which I like) Maybe just start watching Season 2?
Right now Clarke is everything but perfect, trust me. And in the first season you have Bellamy and Murphy to be fucking assholes. They goy it cover for the first season.
I love BatB and for me it's underrated. My main complaint, is like all the other comments I've read, the network doesn't promo the lesser rated shows, it's a big thorn on fans sides. Thank goodness the shows get more seasons due to the huge international sales, at least other countries appreciate the Underrated shows. I don't hate or insult any show because for me it's a personal insult to that shows fans if you insult their show. it's a matter of preferance. Only watch BatB and recently started with IZombie, will probably pick up the rest on Netflix, when I have the time
What!? It premiered with 0.8. It usually gets 0.7. Then rose back to 0.8 with Lowell episode. It got 0.7 last week. It 0.6 when it was preempted in Chicago. It ranks 4th of out all the CW shows. It's definely better than all those shows listed above including the 100 when it comes to ratings.
I don't think love triangles are an indicator of good a show is or isn't. The Good Wife had a love triangle, Penny Dreadful had a love triangle, Masters of Sex has a love triangle now more of a love square really, Outlander and The Affair are basically ABOUT love triangles, even True Detective had a love triangle of sorts, although to be fair, I don't like that last show all that much, but other people seem to, plus the triangle has nothing to do with why I don't like it. Two of the biggest new network hits of the season, How To Get Away With Murder and Empire, had triangles. And Arrow and The Flash are based on comic books, which have a tendency for big love stories and, yes, big love triangles; and Jane the Virgin is based on a telenovela, which, if you didn't think there was going to be some romantic drama there, you have never seen a telenovela. So no, I don't think that being on these networks is why they have love triangles, and I don't think love triangles are a good indicator of what is good and what isn't, anyway.
I think the CW may have the occasional negative influence on their shows - I'm not sure how much they were involved in how The 100 pilot turned out, but I'm guessing at least partly involved, given the rest of the show is much less teen-angsty. But then, they seemed to get out Rothenburg and the rest of the writers' ways just given how good the rest of the season was, and how fantastic season two was, so who cares what they did to the pilot? In the end, I don't think shows being on the CW have all that much to do with whether they're good or not. But that's just my opinion.
IZombie gets a lot of promo, let's face it promoting a show increases viewership, it's like selling a product. Obviously, CW concentrates on promoting the higher rated shows, which they really don't need to do
I agree, I hate it when there's a poll open and they're wondering or commenting on another show. If it's not in the listing then the user obviously didn't think it was underrated.
Everyone thinks their show is the best and underrated, regardless of the ratings. Heck, I wouldn't trade my show for any other. What I don't like is when people insult or put down other people's shows. They really don't have the right to comment on a show or shows they've only seen one or 2 episodes of. At least, I tend to watch 5 or more before rendering judgement
Well I don't think iZombie is at all underrated. It's a great little show and is recognised as such. Ditto JtV. I know it's not a ratings mega hit, but it's an award winning show... on The CW... that gives it more than a little credibility. And again, not too hot on the rating, but I only hear good thing for The 100.
So I guess I'll vote for The Messengers. Though not perfect, I think it has quite a bit of potential, which I don't think it will ever get a chance to really explore. Oh well...
I don't understand why IZombie would be up there, it's neither underrated nor under promo'd. It's ratings are strong and it certainly gets plenty of promo from CW, more so than ANY of the shows listed.
I've seen it 5 episodes, but I'm dropping it. Nothing to do with quality of show, I'm just tired of undead shows, they're all Omer the TV Done with that phase, need something else.
Acclaimed by who, she won the award for role on show, the show did not win. Also, a lot of Latino women will not watch show me included. It stereotypes us into something we are not. GG are bought and pains for everyone knows that
IZombie. Rose McIver is a great lead. The structure of the show, procedural and overarching struggle of zombie life, is great. A great balance of humor and drama.
The only ones uncritically praising here are The 100 fans. I watch the show, but seriously, if the poll is asking a question, then vote and comment on the reasons you voted that way. It's annoying. It makes them look desperate to get attention. I happen to watch The 100, but I'm also a fan of some of the other shows on the poll, so as they say Piss or get off the pot. STICK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND
I watched whole first season and I really don't know what people see in this show, but I understand that everyone can like whatever they want. The only off-putting thing is how pushy its fans become. It's like BATB 2.0, there was even a hashtag in some poll lately.
lol, I also watch BatB and we do love the hashtag. But honestly, fans who's shows may be on verge of being cancelled will and do become pushy. Looks like some of The 100 fans seem to have become quite PUSHY. These fans which are always the same ones, seem to dominate every poll whether it involves the show or not ( take this poll for instance). I don't understand this logic cause the show is actually doing OK, and it would just turn ppl off not wanting to watch the show. I happen to like the show, but look how they've taken over this poll that doesn't even involve the show. If I wanted to encourage someone to watch the show, reigning on some else's parade is not the way to do it. I'm not afraid to speak up as a fan and let them know that's just irritating and rude. You don't see other fans doing that. I'm sorry to say, that some 100 fans are really going overboard lately. Being a fan myself, I'm really ashamed of their pushiness. But,nobody says anything about it. Your right, diff. likes for diff. types, but, respect is everything and anonymity does not absolve a person from behaving badly on Soc Media. There's my LONG take on it
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
None of the above!
ReplyDeleteWell, on this site, not so much, but otherwise, The 100, absolutely. Because it's amazingly awesome and everyone ever should watch it but they don't. Or give it awards. Or cover it or even mention it, really. And now I'm sad.

ReplyDeleteThe 100!
i thought iZombie was doing great ratings-wise?
ReplyDeleteAs a general thing, The 100, by a mile, but not on this site, so I agree with it not being there, kuddos for the user who submitted it.

Where is The 100???? Most underrated show on the CW!!
ReplyDeleteIt really isn't underrated on SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 is probably one of the most popular shows on STV. I agree 100% that overall it is the most underrated but not here imo.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 of course
ReplyDeleteThe Messengers. Jane the Virgin got a Golden Globe and iZombie gets 0.7's, so people do know those shows exist. I know most people would have voted The 100 (probably me included), but for some weird reason it's not here...

ReplyDeleteOff the list: The 100, which should be scoring Flash kind of ratings and JtV kind of praise
ReplyDeleteEh? Only 5 shows of a way bigger lineup full of shows with little to no actual appreciation?

BatB? Ummm...yeah...no....
The 100.
ReplyDeleteAgree
ReplyDeleteNikita.
ReplyDeleteYes and it was able to get a 0.7 even when partnered with a Flash repeat.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the 100?
ReplyDeleteNo, definitely not on the site, but the question doesn't necessarily specify that; it just says underrated, and most places, The 100 wins in that category. Although I can see why they might not want to put it on the list, since if it were there, it'd win by a lot.

ReplyDeleteIf anything the 100 is extremely overrated. The kids are awful, annoying and bad actors. The story is good.
ReplyDeleteThe question doesn't say anything about being underrated on the site.
ReplyDeleteThe 100, of course. Why is it not in the poll?
ReplyDeleteI choose other.
ReplyDeleteI think S3 of Arrow is underrated. I personally think this season is much better than S2 and I don't really get the hate for it.
Definitely the 100 !!!
ReplyDeleteReign by far
ReplyDeleteI know ..but I was thinking in general especially when it comes to advertising
ReplyDeleteWithout the 100, it's Jane.
ReplyDeleteAcclaimed but watched by nobody.
THE 100, duh.
ReplyDeleteReign definitely. Also The Originals and The Messengers.
ReplyDeleteYeah that is what I thought too.
ReplyDeleteI just think that it been placed there, it would win easily and the poll would be kind of pointless.
ReplyDeleteiZombie is the best of the bunch but it's not really an "underrated" show. The Messengers IS an underrated show.
ReplyDeleteThe Messengers obviously. People and network didn't even give it a chance and that can't be said about iZombie, so I have no idea why people vote for it.
ReplyDeleteEhhhh the 100 of course
ReplyDeleteExcuse you, where is The 100?
ReplyDeleteAll shows on the CW. Even if they aren't good shows, the CW has a stigma attached to it.
ReplyDeleteThis is true. Every time I try to recommend a show that's on the CW, the moment the words "it's on the CW" come out of my mouth, I can see the person tuning out. ReplyDeleteNot listed: The 100
ReplyDeleteOn the list: Jane The Virgin
The 100, I don't care about the rest!!!

ReplyDeleteVery true. The network itself is underrated.
ReplyDeleteBATB deserved more audience
ReplyDeleteReign for sure ... I am surprised The 100 isn't on the list
ReplyDeleteReign,Jane
ReplyDeleteRight now, The Messengers.
ReplyDeleteI don't get the love for The 100 on this site. I gave it multiple chances and it is everything people here say it isn't.
ReplyDeleteHave you watched Season 2? I swear it gets better and better..the first few episodes are a bit meh but it just gets so better, trust me :) It's amazing.

ReplyDeleteI think that most people don't understand the term, cause it's not about demanding everyone should uncritically praise show they like.
ReplyDeleteThe 100, Jane The Virgin, The Messengers
ReplyDeleteiZombie
ReplyDeleteYes, but it's dropped drastically since then.
ReplyDeleteThe actress got the award for her role in the show, not the show.
ReplyDeleteIt's not underrated then? 😁

ReplyDeleteAll CW shows have been renewed except HOD
ReplyDeleteNeither underrated and is certainly promo'd to death by the CW more so than other shows I've seen
ReplyDeleteI've given JTV a chance and found it personally, demeaning to women and women of my culture specifically. I dropped it just on principle
ReplyDeleteThen, it shouldn't be on this poll. I must have caught that .6 rating though
ReplyDeleteI C, but yea that's info I wouldn't know since I don't watch TV.
ReplyDeleteAnd The Messengers.
ReplyDeleteLong Live Reign, more Fans then you know, just get rid of Conde and they will be back.
ReplyDeleteIZombie. Rose McIver is a great lead. The structure of the show, procedural and overarching struggle of zombie life, is great. A great balance of humor and drama.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks, I was getting attached to that one
ReplyDeleteThe only ones uncritically praising here are The 100 fans. I watch the show, but seriously, if the poll is asking a question, then vote and comment on the reasons you voted that way. It's annoying.
ReplyDeleteIt makes them look desperate to get attention. I happen to watch The 100, but I'm also a fan of some of the other shows on the poll, so as they say Piss or get off the pot. STICK TO THE SUBJECT AT HAND
I watched whole first season and I really don't know what people see in this show, but I understand that everyone can like whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteThe only off-putting thing is how pushy its fans become.
ReplyDeleteYour right, diff. likes for diff. types, but, respect is everything and anonymity does not absolve a person from behaving badly on Soc Media. There's my LONG take on it
Definitely other id pick the 100
