  • 08:15 - The Brink - Episode 1.01 - 1.02 - Press Releases
    Episode #1: “Pilot”

In Islamabad, Pakistan, low-level State Department bureaucrat Alex Talbot (Jack Black) asks his driver Rafiq (Aasif Mandvi) to take him to a bazaar to score some weed. Encountering a mass protest that turns violent, they flee their car and take refuge in the house Rafiq shares with his parents and sister. In Washington, D.C., Secretary of State Walter Larson (Tim Robbins) is fetched from a hotel tryst by his seen-it-all aide, Kendra Peterson (Maribeth Monroe), to attend an emergency White House meeting on the growing unrest in Pakistan. After learning that paranoid General Umair Zaman (Iqbal Theba) is threatening the region with destruction, President Navarro (Esai Morales) and ultra-hawkish Secretary of Defense Grey (Geoff Pierson) put a plan in motion to remove Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal, against Larson’s advice that such an operation is risky and reckless.

The group soon discovers that Alex is their only source of hard information on the ground in Pakistan. Meanwhile, onboard an aircraft carrier in the region, ace pilot Zeke “Z-Pak” Tilson (Pablo Schreiber) calls his ex-wife, Ashley (Mary Faber), in Florida, urging her to send more “product” for his lucrative side business selling drugs. Later, Zeke’s mounting troubles are put on hold when he and his co-pilot, Glenn (Eric Ladin), are ordered to take off on a mission he knows could lead to catastrophe.

    Episode #2: “Half-Cocked”

With President Navarro and Defense Secretary Grey ordering a military response to General Zaman’s threats, Walter argues that an air strike could unleash a world war. He and Kendra must track down a moderate contact inside the Pakistan government to defuse the crisis. Meanwhile, after learning that classified information has been sent from Rafiq’s house, Zaman’s men storm the place, threaten Rafiq’s family, and drag Alex to an undisclosed location for interrogation of the worst kind. In the skies over Pakistan, with Walter and the president looking on via an airborne camera, Zeke tries to sober up a drug-addled Glenn, but his partner accidentally launches a missile that creates high anxiety in three world capitals.

Written by Roberto Benabib & Kim Benabib; directed by Tim Robbins.

  • 07:50 - Fox Passes On Pilots ‘Studio City’ & ’48 Hours ‘Til Monday’
There was hope for Fox drama pilot Studio City and comedy 48 Hours ‘Til Monday when the network 10 days ago opted not to pick either up to series but postponed a final decision until after the upfronts. I hear a decision has now been made, and it’s a pass on both projects. But while closing the book on those two pilots, I hear Fox is looking at another pilot that did not go forward at its original network, NBC drama Warrior. Like with any busted pilot, a pickup is considered a very long shot but there is a glimmer of hope.

  • Nashville - Season 3 Finale - Boss on Juliette's "Manic" Move, Teddy's Future, a Season 4 Wedding
First off, that's a huge cliffhanger about Deacon and what's going to happen to him. What can you say about the decision to leave it there and what comes next?

As dire as it seems, there are a lot of different outcomes that could spring forth from that situation. We've been dealing with his health issues all season long. We got them back together and then we got them basically spiritually married, and then it's like what happens next given the given. It gives us a lot of ways to go.

The other big moment in the finale was Avery taking the baby and leaving Juliette. Where does that leave the two of them?

Obviously it leaves them in a really terrible, terrible place. But any time people have children together, they are tied together for life, and it's just a question of how they make that work or not. A lot of people root for that couple. I have really grown so fond of them, and I think there's so much love there. I don’t think they're done.

There was a lot of movement with Jeff and Layla in the finale. After everything he's done, will she still be able to trust him? How does her discovery in the finale affect their relationship?

They have a very, very unhealthy psychological relationship which is not unknown to players in the entertainment industry. (Laughs) There are so many manager/love-interest/relationships, historically, that you could point to that have very, very blurry lines. We often forget how young that character really is, and because of that, she's susceptible to him in a way. I do think he has very twisted, weird, real feelings for her.

  5. First time I've heard of Show me a Hero... sounds interesting though....

Dark Matter: Oh so judging by the second episode's synopsis, we find out what they're doing there this early on. I thought that would be like an ongoing mystery...

Oh my GOD! The Brink sounds like "Dr.Stangelove the TV Show!" I'm soooooooo on board!

Not too devastated over the decision of passing on Studio City and 48 Hours, but it is interesting that FOX might be interested in Warrior. Feels on Par with Gotham and Lucifer...

Preacher is packing up quite a cast.

Well that Pixels trailer was a bit better than the last one... indicated at some actual plot... it still seems silly though... hope it's at least fun silly...
