After all, the small screen hardly has been lacking for comic books-based fare. So there is a concerted effort for TNT to take its time and make this series unique.

18:00 - Survivors Remorse and Blunt Talk - Premiere Dates Announced
“BLUNT TALK” PREMIERES AND “SURVIVOR’S REMORSE” RETURNS AUGUST 22nd ON STARZ
Beverly Hills, Calif., May 13, 2015 – Starz today announced the highly anticipated premiere of original series “Blunt Talk” and return of the critically-acclaimed “Survivor’s Remorse” on Saturday, August 22nd. The comedy block kicks off at 9 PM ET/PT with the premiere of “Blunt Talk,” the 10-episode first season of the half-hour scripted comedy series from MRC and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, Jonathan Ames (creator and showrunner), Stephanie Davis and Tristram Shapeero. The laughs continue at 9:30 PM ET/PT with the sophomore season of “Survivor’s Remorse,” from executive producers Tom Werner, Maverick Carter, LeBron James, Mike O’Malley, Paul Wachter, Victor Levin and Hilton Smith. The second season of the half-hour scripted comedy series will feature 10 episodes – up from its six-episode first season.
About “Blunt Talk”
Set in Los Angeles, the story follows Walter Blunt, a British import intent on conquering the world of American cable news and the fallout from his well-intentioned, but mostly misguided decision-making, both on and off the air.
Through the platform of his nightly cable news show, Blunt is on a mission to impart his wisdom and guidance on how Americans should live, think and behave. Besieged by network bosses, a dysfunctional news staff, numerous ex-wives and children of all ages, Blunt’s only support is the heavy-drinking, devoted manservant he transplanted from the U.K. to join him in Los Angeles. The series is greenlit for a two-season, 20-episode commitment.
The cast is led by Patrick Stewart (X-Men franchise, Ted) in the role of Walter Blunt, Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) as Rosalie, Blunt’s tough and motherly producer-manager and Adrian Scarborough (The King’s Speech) as Harry, Blunt’s manservant. Dolly Wells (“Doll & Em”) who was cast as Celia, Blunt’s senior producer and head writer, with Timm Sharp (“Enlightened”) who was cast as Jim, Blunt’s head writer, round out the cast.
MacFarlane and Fuzzy Door Productions, Inc. serve as executive producers. Ames, who created the series, will also serve as executive producer, showrunner as well as a writer on the project. Tristram Shapeero (“Community”) and Stephanie Davis (“Bored to Death”) serve as executive producers with Shapeero also serving as director. Stewart will also serve as producer on the series.
MRC, the studio behind MacFarlane’s directorial debut Ted, which is the highest grossing original comedy of all time worldwide, the highly anticipated sequel, Ted 2, and the award-winning series “House of Cards,” is best known as one of the most artist-friendly independent studios.

When did that idea come about to put these two people together?
We always look at each board on each show and look at potential romantic pairings. You can't do it too often because there are ramifications; people work together, things like that. Then we look at potential romantic pairings connecting the two shows and obviously we dealt with Severide and Lindsay, we did it and continue to do it with Mouch and Platt, and we just wanted to look again at is there anything coming up in terms of going to that possibility. We were looking at Brett. She had a relationship with Cruz but is free right now. It's a little bit dangerous to have her date someone else that's in the house because there are ramifications to that. How will Cruz react? We've already played that Dawson's dated a couple of people in the house so there's a sameness to that. We started looking at P.D. and at P.D., we have the Roman character who had an ex-girlfriend so then he's available. Then we were like, what would that be like? The possibility of the chemistry really jumped out at us and so that's where we wanted to go. It's a button within the finale and we'll see where it goes next season.

Can't wait for Chicago fire next season for dawsey baby storyline
ReplyDeleteIt is truly shameful they switched Natasha with Cap in that Age Of Ultron toy.
ReplyDeleteAs a fan of the original Jem animated series (WHAT?! it was huge when I was growing up...) I can't say I'm a fan of how this "remake" looks...
Looking forward to see more of Wayward Pines. The pilot was good, but the trailers for the show continue to sell it quite well I gotta give them the credit.
I've been looking forward to Blunt Talk, because Seth MacFarlane aside, Sir Patrick Stuart is involved, and that is worth my time and effort. Still though... August? Feels like a loooong way away.
I want to get excited about the Titans show, because I looooove Dick, but I dunno... In some way I'd rather have Nightwing or Titans on the CW...
New X-Men movie? Well Fox really never plans to let those rights go back to Marvel... okay then...
Crimson Peak looks good! After the disappointment Guillermo gave me with The Strain he owes me good one! :P
Wayward Pines: So Ethan gets reunited with his family... interesting... I'm totally on board with them also getting caught up in this creepy mess...
Quite excited for the finale of Brooklyn Nine-Nine. This Jake/Amy thing needs to be addressed!
