The SpoilerTV Cancellation Predictor Competition 2015/16
26 Aug 2015
SpoilerTV ArticleUpdate: 27th August Submissions are now closed. We'll post the table in a new post and then update it each time a show is renewed or cancelled. Good luck everyone!
Hey All,
Last year we ran a competition to see who would be the best predictor of what new shows would be cancelled (That competition still does not have a winner announced until NBC decide on the fate of A.D The Bible Continues). You can see last seasons table here.
We thought we'd try it again this season and run a little competition. It's very simple and free to enter and we hope to have a little prize to the winner (to be announced later).
Basically we're asking you to predict all the shows that you think will be cancelled. For each correct prediction, you get a point, incorrect ones you lose a point. The person with the most points at the end of the season will be crowned the winner.
In the event of Tie, we have a tie-breaker question,in which we ask what show you think will be cancelled first.
As shows get cancelled we'll update and post a league table of the current standings.
IMPORTANT NOTES
1) In the event of a tie the form below has a tie-breaker question.
2) You can only submit once. If you try to cheat and submit multiple times ALL your submissions will be deleted.
3) Submissions will be closed on Thursday 27th August 2015
4) Make sure you use a memorable username and a real email address (otherwise we won't be able to contact you if you win!)
5) We're doing this just for some of the new broadcast shows.
Simply fill out the Form below to enter. Also feel free to let us know your picks in the comments below.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate in asking.
I had been waiting 8 months for this!
ReplyDeleteReally? Do we really want to start "bad buzz" about shows BEFORE they air for the first time? I respect & comment on this site, and thought you'd be above such mean-spirited acts. All of the new shows deserve the benefit-of-the-presumption that they will be worthwhile.
ReplyDeleteThanks for doing this. It was a lot of fun last year seeing how well or in my case badly I did ha ha
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your predictions.
ReplyDeleteThis is exciting! Let's see!
ReplyDeleteDone.
ReplyDeleteThis year i was very careful in my prediction.Fingers crossed!
I can't really vote if I don't know any detail about most of the show
ReplyDeleteI voted 25 cancelled
ReplyDelete19 renewed
it's hard to judge for mid-season shows as we don't where they're gonna end up on the schedule.
ReplyDeleteOMG I'VE BEEN WAITING ALL YEAR FOR THIS TOURNAMENT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteSorry for all the excitement lol.
Well you have several months left
ReplyDeleteWhat's typically a ratio for shows cancelled and renewed?
ReplyDeleteIt depends year to year. This is what it looked like this year.
ReplyDeleteYou can check out last year's table and see how many were renewed or cancelled
ReplyDeleteI counted 64 renewals including 'The X-Files' and 31 cancellations.
ReplyDeleteThere was a 2:1 ratio this year (63 renewals : 31 Cancellations)
ReplyDeleteHope I do better this year than I did last year.
ReplyDelete@DarkUFO Will you post this again around late August?
ReplyDeleteThis is just a fun competition. I don't see how it is mean-spirited or creates bad-buzz. You are being over dramatic.
ReplyDeleteMostly cancellations for me.
ReplyDeleteCancelled 25.
ReplyDeleteSame.
ReplyDeleteYep, this will be regularly pushed back to the homepage and tweeted out to remind people.
ReplyDeleteLast year I got a total of 15 correct cancellations, but sadly only 3 points. I hope to do better this year.
ReplyDeleteI predict 22 Cancelled shows this year.
I am happy to be able to Participate this year
ReplyDeleteI was bummed last year because even though I clearly recall filling it in my entry got lost somehow. I will be participating for sure this year but I will wait more until the end of the summer to gather my thoughts and wait for more reviews and all to start coming in. The midseason shows are a roulette though
ReplyDeleteOk I did it... Been looking forward to this but it is so hard lol... Dilemma: I can't go against shows I want to watch because then why would I watch them if I think they are going to be cancelled... Tie breaker I chose rosewood
ReplyDeleteIt is always tough to exclude the emotions in this type of polls. But shows have to go!
ReplyDelete28 canceled & 16 renewed
ReplyDeleteI rarely do well at these things, but I gave it a go...
ReplyDeleteI only cancelled 17 hehe I'm too nice. I want everything to succeed. I'll do horribly on this. I am too much of an optimistic. Although I cancelled almost everything NBC.
ReplyDeleteI know is not the right article but I wonder if there's any news of renewals of Bates Motel and Workaholics, anyone?
ReplyDeleteActually can create a good buzz, talking about shows before they premiere thinking they can be cancelled may could attract some interest.
ReplyDeleteI went to Comedy Central website and looked there's no message saying "new episodes in 2016".
ReplyDeleteMy goodness, I finished 8-36 in renewals-cancelations.
ReplyDeleteI am very curious as to how people are submitting the guess for first show to be cancelled without knowing when the show will premiere. For instance, if NBC again premieres the Friday lineup in late October as they've been doing, then chances are when People Are Talking premieres, something else has already been yanked.
ReplyDeleteWell, made my predictions. They're probably going to be wrong but it should be fun at least.
ReplyDeleteWell I think we'll balance each other out cause I canceled damn near everything;) I probably had 10 shows getting renewed.
ReplyDelete32 canceled/12 renewed.
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say, I'm an optimist;)
When this phase is over well have a table that will show your picks, as long as you remember your username
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the list again, I think I had 16 renewed. So, I wasn't quite as bad as I thought;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, just a fun way to pass the time! Also, maybe some of them will not get cancelled because of the buzz created around them. Remember: there's no such thing as bad publicity ;)!
ReplyDeleteI think I might wait until the rest of the premiere dates for Fall are released. A lot of these are quite tough to call, I mean I like to think Superstore will make it, but if it turned out that great it would surely be on in the Fall?
ReplyDelete26 Cancelled / 18 Renewed
ReplyDeleteCancelled 27 shows
ReplyDeleteRenewed 17.
It's my first time participating. Already excited to see how good I am at predicting. :)
Good luck :)
ReplyDeleteMy draft has 29 cancelled and 15 renewed, restricting myself to a 2:1 ratio. I put the shows on Index cards and sorted them out on a table. I'm planning on submitting my predictions soon. Wish me luck.
